This study was conducted to evaluate the quality and the quantity for manufacturing vinegar powder using spray drying. The $\beta$-cyclodextrin(CD) and gum arabic(GA) were used as well materials and the mixing ratio of CD and GA was ranged from 10:0 to 0:10. The moisture content of the vinegar powder of 2.5 of CD and 7.5 of GA was lowest among the other mixing ratios. At this proportion, the titratable acidity was highest as it had much included vinegar. The heat stability was not varied much with mixing ratio. However the stability of heat was maintained. Further the water absorption of powder was comparatively low. The manufactured powder vinegar shape was smooth round particles and stable structure by SEM and the particle size was small enough to form capsulation. In sensory evaluation, under these conditions the sourness was highest at 3.5. Therefore, the optimal mixing ratio at 2.5 of CD and 7.5 of GA in wall material was selected.
Al2O3/Al composites were produced by displacement reaction method, which was carried out by immersing the sintered silica preform, which was prepared from fused silica powder, in molten aluminum. Because the molten aluminum did not penetrate into the silica preform with higher than 20% of porosity when the displacement reaction was accomplished at 100$0^{\circ}C$ for 10 hours in air atmosphere, the optimum range of sintering temperature of silica preform was from 135$0^{\circ}C$ to 140$0^{\circ}C$. The microstructure of this Al2O3/Al composites showed three-dimentionally co-continuous alumina, which provides wear resistance and high stiffness, and aluminium which acts as a toughnening phase. The grain size of the alumina in composites did not change with the particle size of the silica preform. The exact shape of the preform was retained and a net-shaped composite was produced. The representative Al2O3/Al composite prepared in this study showed 3.30mg/㎤ of bulk density, 350-430 MPa of flexural strength, 7.0 MPa.m1/2 of fracture toughness, and good machinability.

The cold spray process is an emerging technology that utilizes high velocity metallic particles for surface coating. Metallic powder particles are injected into a converging-diverging de Laval nozzle and accelerated to a high velocity by a supersonic gas flow. The cold spray process normally uses a circular nozzle that has a rather narrow spraying range. To overcome this fault, a slit nozzle was considered in this study. The slit nozzle is anticipated to reduce the coating process time because it has a wider coating width than the circular nozzle. However, the slit nozzle can reduce the coating efficiency because it does not allow as much gas and particle velocity as the circular nozzle. To improve the coating efficiency of a slit nozzle, the shape of the slit nozzle was modified. And the results of gas flow and particle behaviour according to the nozzlers shape were compared by the a numerical analysis. As a results, as Expansion Ratio(ER) of 7.5 was found to be the most optimal condition for enhancing the spraying efficiency when the ER was changed by the variation of nozzle neck and exit size.

By Using various grinding mill in powder cosmetics manufacturing process; screen milt and pin mill, jet mill, properties of the powder and grinding mills were studied; talc, mica, nylon powder, silica, titanium dioxide. Besides, the experiments fur evaluation of grinding were performed by using iron oxides those are tracers. In powders of plate shape, they were grinded more vertically than horizontally at the screen mill and pin mill, although were all grinded vertically and horizontally at the jet mill. The spheric powders became the primary particles or aggregation by electrostatic interaction at the screen mill and pin mill. But, at the jet mill, they resulted the agglomeration or transformation or damage up to 2bar. Titanium dioxides became the primary particles by all grinding mill. Pin mill has an excellent result in experiments which is a change of the tone of color by grinding. From these results, suggest that the jet mill is used to pre-treat of powders of plate shape in practical cosmetic manufacturing process, and the screen mill and pin mill are used to match the color of powder cosmetics. If industrial process condition is taken into consideration, suggest that 4times of grinding is excellent on grinding effect by the screen mill, and twice grinding by the pin mill and grind air pressure of 1bar by the jet mill.

Nanosized NiO powder was prepared by mixing an acid nickel salt and a base nickel salt and their reduction behavior was studied. Ni formate was employed as an acid salt and nickel hydroxide and basic nickel carbonate as base salts. One equivalent acid salt was mixed with 9 equivalent base salt. The mixture of the formate and the carbonate produced ~100 run spherical NiO powder by heat treatment at $750^{\circ}C$/2 h, but the mixture of the formate and the hydroxide gave rise to ~100 nm pseudo spherical NiO powder by heat treatment at $600^{\circ}C$/2 h and grew fast to give pseudo cubic crystals of 100~600 run by heat treatment at $750^{\circ}C$/2 h. Reduction by hydrogen gas proceeded much faster for the one with the hydroxide than that with the carbonate to give porous body with well grown necks. Their behavior was studied by analysis of TG/DSC, XRD, and SEM.
$In_2O_3$ doped $WO_3$ powders were prepared by a polymer solution route and their $NO_2$ gas sensing properties were analyzed. The synthesized powders showed nano-sized particles with specific surface areas of $6.01{\sim}21.5m^2/g$ and the particle size and shape changed according to the content of $In_2O_3$. The gas sensors fabricated with the synthesized powders were tested at operating temperatures of $400{\sim}500^{\circ}C$ and 100~500 ppm concentrations of $NO_2$ atmosphere. The particle size and $In_2O_3$ content affected on the initial sensor resistance in an air atmosphere. The highest sensitivity (8.57 at $500^{\circ}C$), which was 1.77 higher than the sensor consisting of the pure $WO_3$ sample, was measured in the 0.5 mol% $In_2O_3$ doping sample. In addition, the response time and recovery time were improved by the addition of $In_2O_3$.
Nanosized rutile titanium dioxide (TiO2) is used in inorganic pigments and cosmetics because of its high whiteness and duality. The high quality of the white pigments depends on their surface coating technique via the solgel process. SiO2 coatings are required to improve the dispersibility, UV-blocking, and whiteness of TiO2. Tetraethyl orthosilicate (TEOS) is an important coating precursor owing to its ability to control various thicknesses and densities. In addition, we use Na2SiO3 (sodium silicate) as a precursor because of its low cost. Compared to TEOS, which controls the pH using a basic catalyst, Na2SiO3 controls the pH using an acid catalyst, giving a uniform coating. The coating thickness of TiO2 is controlled using a surface modifier, cetrimonium bromide, which is used in various applications. The shape and thickness of the nanosized coating layer on TiO2 are analyzed using transmission electron microscopy, and the SiO2 nanoparticle behavior in terms of the before-and-after size distribution is measured using a particle size analyzer. The color measurements of the SiO2 pigment are performed using UV-visible spectroscopy.
This study was conducted prepare spray-dried powder using pumpkin sweet potato hydrolysates and examine the physicochemical properties of the powder. The insoluble dietary fiber and soluble dietary fiber of the pumpkin sweet potato treated by enzyme were 4.17% and 2.07%, respectively. The spray-dried pumpkin sweet potato hydrolysates was manufactured via spray-drying with different forming agents: i.e., pectin 0.1%, 0.5%, 1%, and 2.0%. The moisture contents and total starches of the spray-dried powders were approximately 1.68-2.46 and 45.32-46.51%, respectively. The color of the L and a value decreased, and that of the b and ${\Delta}E$ value increased. The particle size and outer topology of the spray-dried powders were $37.17-42.32{\mu}m$, and its shape was generally globular. The water absorption index of the spray-dried powder (1.74-1.91) was lower than that of the freeze-dried powder (2.15). The water solubility index of the spray-dried powder, 80.75-87.61%, was higher than that of the freeze-dried powder (70.47%). The adhesion values of spray-dried powder to epithelial HT-29 cells were 2.66-6.18% of the initial cell counts, whereas freeze-dried powder showed lower adhesive ability (1.79%). The in vitro human digestibility in the spray-dried powder was 70.09% which is very effective in digestion.

The nanocrystalline zirconia powder with anisotropic shapes was synthesized by hydrothermal treatment of the tetragonal zirconia prepared by aging the zirconium hydroxide precipitate, which was obtained from the reaction between $ZrOCl_2{\cdot}8H_2O$ and KOH solutions under the fixed pH of 13.5, at $100^{\circ}C$ for 24 h. With increasing the hydrothermal reaction temperature and time, the fraction of tetragonal phase with spherical zirconia decreased, whereas, relatively the fraction of monoclinic phase with spindle-like and rod shape zirconia increased. As increased concentration of the NaOH solution it promoted the particle size to become larger and the crystalline phase to transform tetragonal to monoclinic. However, the specific surface area at the early stage of the reaction increased and subsequently decreased because of grain growth in powder with longer reaction time.
Ultrafine $Mg(OH)l_2$and MgO powders were recovered from the waste solution containing $Mg^{++}$ which was a by-product of SHS (Self-propagating High temperature Synthesis)process. The optimum experimental conditions to prepare $Mg(OH)_2$were 13.0 of pH and 0.7M of $Mg^{++}$ content with addition of 9M of KOH as a pH regulator in acid leaching solution. Complete pre-cipitation of Mg(OH)$_2$from $Mg^{++}$ was realized at that condition. The dehydration reaction of the prepared Mg(OH)$_2$was studied by DSC, and the result was used for calcination process. In order to obtain MgO powder, dried Mg(OH)2 powder was calcined at $400~450^{\circ}C$. Particle size and shape of the prepared $Mg(OH)_2$and MgO powder was similar to those of the commercial powders.
