Effect of Phenolic Resin According to Relative Humidity on Submerged Entry Nozzle with ZrO2-C System in Fabrication Process (ZrO2-C계 침지노즐 제조시 상대습도에 따른 바인더용 페놀수지의 영향)

  • The thermodynamic behavior of phenolic resin was investigated to verify the relation between the properties of porous ceramics with $ZrO_2$-C system for submerged entry nozzle and the characteristics of phenolic resin with various relative humidity. The green and the sintered density were decreased between 25% and 50% relative humidity, whereas they were gradually enhanced above 50% relative humidity. The highest value of apparent porosity was 20.1% and the minimum compressive strength was 69MPa in the specimen using the powder exposed to 50% relative humidity. As a result of thermal analysis for phenolic resin, the shift of endothermic peak to low temperature and the reduction of exothermic peak were observed, and the peaks corresponded to melting and curing of phenolic resin, respectively. The melting and the curing of phenolic resin generate the change of green density, and it can affect the properties of submerged entry nozzle.

  • In solar industry, numerous researchers reported about cold spray method among various electrode formation technic, but there are no known a bonding mechanism of metal powder. In this study, a cross-section of copper electrode formed by cold spray method was observed and heterogeneous phase between silicon substrate and copper electrode was analyzed using morphology observation technic. SEM and TEM analysis were performed to analyze a crystallinity and distribution shape of heterogeneous copper phase. Molecular dynamics simulation was performed to calculate glass transition temperature of copper metal. In the result, amorphous copper phase was observed near interface between silicon substrate and metal electrode. The results of the molecular dynamics simulation show that an amorphous copper phase could be formed at a temperature below the melting point of copper because cold spraying resulted in a lower glass transition temperature.

  • We are investigating epitaxially grown YBa$_2Cu_3O_x$(123) on MgO single crystal by partial melting process for high power application. After fabricating of BaCuO$_2$(011), Y$_2BaCuO_5$(211) powder, we made YBa$_2Cu_3O_x$(123) Paste with just mixing of (211), (011) and CuO(001) powders. Screen printing method was used to coat YBa$_2Cu_3O_x$(123) paste on MgO single crystal. To reduce the reaction in low temperature, rapid heating was conducted at partial melting temperature. The film was analysed with the difference of cooling-rate, thickness, reaction temperature by XRD, SEM, in-plane alignment, out-of-plane alignment, temperature-resistivity characteristics.

공정변수에 따른 초전도 튜브의 전기적 특성변화

  • High-temperature Superconductor(HTS) tubes were fabricated in term of different processing variables such as preheating temperature, speed of mold rotation and cooling rate by centrifugal forming method. For powder melting by induction the optimum range of melting temperatures and preheating temperature were $1050^{\circ}C{\sim}1100^{\circ}C$ and $550^{\circ}C$ for 30min, respectively. The mould roating speed was 1000rpm. A tube was annealed at $840^{\circ}C$ for 72hours in oxygen atmosphere. The plate-like grains were well developed along the roating direction and typical grain size was about more than $40{\mu}m$. It was found that Ic values increased with increasing the preheating temperature and speed of mold rotation. While Ic decreased with increasing the cooling rate. The measured Ic in $50mm{\times}70mm{\times}2.5mm$ tube was about 896Amp.

  • High-temperature Superconductor(HTS) tubes were fabricated in terms of different chemical compositions and various SrSO$_4$additions by centrifugal forming method. For powder melting by induction the optimum range of melting temperatures and preheating temperature were 1050$^{\circ}C$, 1100$^{\circ}C$ and 550$^{\circ}C$ for 30 min, respectively. The mould rotating speed was 1000 rpm. A tube was annealed at 840$^{\circ}C$ for 72 hours in oxygen atmosphere. The plates like grains more than 20 $\mu\textrm{m}$ were well developed along the rotating direction of mould regardless of initial chemical compositions and the amounts of SrSO$_4$in Bi2212. The specimen with Bi2212 composition exhibited T$\_$c/ of 83 K, while the specimens fabricated with other compositions are lower than 60 K. The measured I$\_$c/ and J$\_$c/ at 77 K(B = 0 T) in Bi2212 with 7 % SrSO$_4$ composition were about 680 A and 380 A/$\textrm{cm}^2$.

  • $\alpha$-D-Glucosidase inhibitor purified in a pure form was amorphous powder which gave a single spot at Rf value 0.12-0.71 with various developing solvent systems on silica gel thin layer chromatography, and melting point was 154.3-155.3$^{\circ}C$. It was disolved in water, formic acid and ethylene glycol monoethyl ether, and was very high hygroscopic substance. Biochemical reaction of the substance was positive to phenol sulfuric acid, ninhydrin, silver nitrate-sodium hydroxide, but negative to DNS reagent. Acid hydrolysis gave fructose and acid as sole sugar and amino acid constituents respectively. Moelcular weight of the inhibitor was estimated to be 1,050 by Shphadex G-25 column chromatography.

  • A Well oriented Bi$_2$re$_2$CaCu$_2$O$\sub$8/(Bi2212) superconductor thick films were formed successfully on a copper substrate by liquid reaction between a Cu-free precursor and Cu tape using method in which Cu-free BSCO powder mixture was printed on copper plate and heat-treated. And we examined the mechanism for the rapid formation of Bi2212 superconducting films from observing the surface microstructure with heat-treatment time. At heat-treatment temperature, the printing layer partially melt by reacting with CuO of the oxidizing copper plate, and the nonsuperconducting phases present in the melt are typically Bi-free phases and Cu-free phases. Following the partial melting, the Bi$_2$Sr$_2$CaCu$_2$O$\sub$8/ superconducting phase is formed at Bi-free phase/liquid interface by nucleation and grows. It was confirmed that the phase colony from the phase diagram of Bi$_2$O$_3$-(SrO+CaO)/2-CuO system is similar to the observed result.

  • In the preparatIon of reclaimed aluminium lllgot from alumimum scrap, the aluminium recovery was studied a as a function of the preliminary treatment of samples, addition of flux and melting atmosphere. AI dross is produced by an oxidation reaction at the surface of liquid metal. The recovery of AI metal increases u up to maximum 95% by adding salt up to 7%, The recovery of AI metal in the compacted chip bale without oil removal mcrease about 14% compared io non-compacted chip. In the case of the AI seed melting process, the recovery of Al metal of the crushed and compacted chip hale is 97%, In meltmg of alumimum scrap under the atmosphere of carbon and nitrogen gas, the recovery of AI metal increase, but it is decreased when the mixture of salt and carbon powder is added excessively.

  • A single phase $Mg_3Sb_2$ alloy was synthesized by melting the mixture of Mg and Sb metal powders at 1173 K. The figure of merit of the $Mg_3Sb_2$ prepared by melting method increased with temperature and showed a value of $2.39{\times}10^{-2}$ at 593 K. When the $Mg_3Sb_2$ powders were milled at high speed in a planetary ball mill for 12~48 h, Zintle phase ($Mg_3Sb_2$) was maintained as a main phase, but its crystallinity became deteriorated and elemental Sb phase appeared. Sb phase free $Mg_3Sb_2$ could be obtained by the mechanical alloying of high speed ball milling for 24 h using elemental Mg and Sb powder mixtures.
