농촌구조개선을 위한 농촌지도사업의 역할 (The Roles of Rural Extension for the Structural Adjustment of Rural Korea)

  • The rural extension in Korea faces transient period since Green Revolution. The urban-centered rapid industrialization policies have initiated the changes in rural and agricultural sector. Nowadays, the World Trade Organization (WTO), newly established by the agreement of the Uruguay Round (UR), is accelerating the changes in rural areas. The rural structural adjustment program established in 1990, in order to cope with the internal and external changes encompassing rural Korea. The rural structure adjustment program is a political responses to reduce the development gaps among industries and regions within the country and to reinforce the price competitiveness of agricultural products toward trade liberalization. This study aims to apply the contents and principles of the rural structural adjustment program for the extension education. It argues that the rural extension should play a pivotal role to gather, process, and deliver the information related to the rural structural adjustment initiating rapid rural social changes. It suggests that the rural extension services should deal with the development of industries through introducing business management techniques and linking relevant laborers, and the education and employment guidance of potential employees as well as the technological assistance on farm management to farmers.

Solution-Processed Metal Oxide Thin Film Nanostructures for Water Splitting Photoelectrodes: A Review

  • Photoelectrochemical (PEC) cells can convert solar energy, the largest potential source of renewable energy, into hydrogen fuel which can be stored, transported, and used on demand. In terms of cost competitiveness compared with fossil fuels, however, both photocatalytic efficiency and cost-effectiveness must be achieved simultaneously. Improvement of cost-effective, scalable, versatile, and eco-friendly fabrication methods has emerged as an urgent mission for PEC cells, and solution-based fabrication methods could be capable of meeting these demands. Herein, we review recent challenges for various nanostructured oxide photoelectrodes fabricated by solution-based processes. Hematite, tungsten oxide, bismuth vanadate, titanium oxide, and copper oxides are the main oxides focused on, and various strategies have been attempted with respect to these photocatalyst materials. The effects of nanostructuring, heterojunctions, and co-catalyst loading on the surface are discussed. Our review introduces notable solution-based processes for water splitting photoelectrodes and gives an outlook on eco-friendly and cost-effective approaches to solar fuel generation and innovative artificial photosynthesis technologies.

Design and Process Development in High Voltage Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistors (IGBTs)

  • The last decade has witnessed great improvements in power semiconductor devices thanks to the advanced design and process, which have made it possible to significantly improve the electrical performances of electronic systems while simultaneously reducing their site, weight and perhaps most importantly reducing their cost. Among the power semiconductor devices, IGBT will be a key semiconductor component for power industry since it has a huge potential to cover large areas of power electronics from small home appliances to heavy industries. Currently, only a few limited power semiconductor manufacturers supply most of the industrial consumptions of power IGBT and its modules. Therefore, a large portion of technology in the power industry is dependent on other advanced countries. In this regard, to independently build power IGBT devices and the relevant power module technology, Korean government initiated a new 5-year project 'Power IT,' which also aimed at booming the business of the power semiconductor and the allied industries. With the success of this power IT project, it is expected that the power semiconductor technology will be a basis to foster the high power semiconductor industry and moreover, there will be more innovative developments in the Korea region and globally Also, forming the channel between the customers and suppliers, it is possible to effectively develop the customized power products, which could strengthen the competitiveness of Korean power industry. Furthermore, the power industry including semiconductor manufacturers will be technologically self-supporting and be able to obtain good business opportunities, and eventually increase the share in the growing power semiconductor market, which could be positioned as a major industry in Korea.

Conjoint Choice Model을 이용한 주제공원 이용자들의 선택행동 연구 (A Study on the Theme Park Users's Choice behavior: Application of Conjoint Choice Model)

  • The purposes of this study are two folds: a) to introduce conjoint choice model to research the choice behavior of theme park users, and b) to suggest the strategies to strengthen the competitiveness of theme parks. The major four theme parks in Seoul metropolitan areas were selected as study areas. A leading polling agency was employed to select 432 respondents by probability sampling and to conduct face-to-face interview. Both alternative generating and choice set generating fractional factorial design were conducted simultaneously to meet the necessary and sufficient conditions for calibration of the conjoint choice model. Dummy coding was used to represent the attribute levels, and the alternative-specific model was calibrated. The goodness-of-fit of the model was quite satisfactory($\rho$$^2$=0.47950), and most parameters values had to expected sign and magnitude. Car was preferred transport mode to shuttle bus for visiting theme parks ; however the most ideal attribute levels only were estimated significantly. Most attribute levels of shuttle bus were estimated significantly except the Dream Land, which is the least attractive park among study areas. Simulation results showed that the shuttle bus was a mode worth providing to switch the current car dominant visiting pattern of theme parks, which will be one the effective strategies to attract more patrons, especially for potential users adjacent to parks. Several ideals were suggested for future researches, in terms of utilization of more general utility function and new base alternative, and inclusion of more salient attributes such as constraints in the model.

  • In the beginning of the Web history, the main function and importance of the Internet was focused on the content of the data. However, that focus has been switched to the search engines because of the abundant, humongous amount of data that are spread all over the globe. The Webmasters are now implying flasy, beautiful graphics and newly developed technologies to make their websites attract the Internet users. The significant change was mainly caused by the companies that thought cyber shopping malls were going to be very simple and profitable. They believed that the decreasing prices of hardware and easy-to-use software were going to attract the potential customers, resulting in a new, massive market. A website needs to be extremely captivating and attractive, in order to bring in new customers and induce them to return. The Webmaster has to devise methods to find out what kinds of contents would bring in a bigger audience, as well as checking the validity and correctness of the contents. In the thesis, the necessity and concept of a personalized Internet shopping mall will be discussed through the theoretical examination of the one-to-one marketing and the concept of the current shopping malls. The scheme of the personalized shopping mall will be presented, which will encourage the formation of loyal customers, in the ever-growing competitiveness of the marketing environment, by satisfying their wants faster and more precisely.

A Study of Fashion Brand Experience and Consumer Behavior

  • The purpose of this study was to empirically investigate the relationship among fashion brand experience, brand loyalty, relationship quality, and repurchase intention. The 420 survey questionnaires were distributed among the consumers in their 30s and 40s who had experience buy fashion brands products through convenience sampling in Seoul. Due to the reliability of data, 120 samples were discarded and 300 samples were put to actual analysis. By using SAS 9.4, data were analyzed for frequency analysis, reliability analysis, correlation analysis. The results of the study are as follows. First, the fashion brand experience which is consist of sensory, affective, behavioral and intellectual experience had positive effects on brand satisfaction and brand trust. Second, brand trust and brand commitment and the relationship quality of brand satisfaction, only satisfaction and commitment affects brand loyalty significantly. Lastly, brand loyalty had significantly effect on repurchase intention. It presented the potential to use the brand as a strategic tool to build strong brand assets, along with providing specific ways to secure differentiated competitiveness in the fashion brand market. It is also thought to be meaningful in that we presented a practical strategy to build and strengthen a lasting bond with consumers by looking at the impact on the quality of the relationship.

단독주택용 지열원 열펌프 시스템의 경제성 분석 (Economic Analysis of a Residential Ground-Source Heat Pump System)

  • Because of their low operating and maintaining costs, ground-source heat pump(GSHP) systems are an increasingly popular choice for providing heating, cooling and water heating to public and commercial buildings. Despite these advantages and the growing awareness, GSHP systems to residential sectors have not been adopted in Korea until recently. A feasibility study of a residential GSHP system was therefore conducted using the traditional life cycle cost(LCC) analysis within the current electricity price framework and potential scenarios of that framework. As a result, when the current residential electricity costs for running the GSHP system are applied, the GSHP system has weak competitiveness to conventional HV AC systems considered. However, when the operating costs are calculated in the modified price frameworks of electricity, the residential GSHP system has the lower LCC than the existing cooling and heating equipments. The calculation results also show that the residential GSHP system has lower annual prime energy consumption and total pollutant emissions than the alternative HVAC systems considered in this work.

  • IT 중소벤처기업들은 기업의 영세성과 무경험성, 기술중심적인 경영과 국내 편향적인 경영 등으로 인해 많은 어려움을 겪고 있다. 오늘날 전세계 경제의 개방화, 통합화에 따라 기업의 국제화 (Globalization) 또는 세계화(Internationalization)는 더욱 가속화되고 있다. 이러한 국제화의 흐름은 비단 대기업이나 다국적기업 뿐만이 아니라 중소기업 또는 신생 벤처기업에도 큰 영향을 미치고 있다. 그러나 우리나라 벤처기업의 경우 양적인 팽창에 비해 질적인 성장이 따르지 못해 여러 가지 문제가 나타나고 있다. 이는 우리나라와 같이 보유기술이나 잠재적인 역량에 비해 상대적으로 협소한 시장규모와 극심한 경쟁상황에 놓여있는 기술집약적 벤처기업의 경우라면 규모의 경제나 범위의 경제를 달성하기 힘들어 더욱 심각해진다. 본 연구에서는 전세계적으로 많은 중소 벤처기업들이 성장과정에서 국제화를 추진하는 배경 및 창업 초기부터 국제화된 기업의 형태를 갖춘 벤처기업들의 유형별 현황과 이들 기업과 경쟁력을 확보하기 위한 우리나라 벤처기업의 국제화의 필요성에 대하여 논의한다.

  • 지역경쟁력 확보 및 지역경제활성화를 위한 중요한 결정 요소로서 산업 클러스터가 관심을 받고 있는 현 시점에서 한국의 산업단지 클러스터들의 전략적 포지셔닝을 평가하여 경쟁전략을 수립할 필요가 있다. 이를 위하여 7개 지역 산업단지 클러스터의 근접성, 네트워크, 상호관계, 매출성과 등과 관련된 보유역량과 생산성과 성장성을 기준으로 파악된 잠재적 매력도를 기준으로 분석한 전략적 포지셔닝을 제시하고 문제점과 전략방향을 제시하고자 한다. 또한 한국의 지역 산업클러스터의 경쟁전략을 수립하는데 시사점을 주고자 세계 각국의 선진 산업 클러스터를 분류하고 현황 및 전략적 포지셔닝을 분석하였다.

Electricity Market Design for the Incorporation of Various Demand-Side Resources in the Jeju Smart Grid Test-bed

  • Many countries are increasing their investments in smart grid technology to enhance energy efficiency, address climate change, and trigger a green energy revolution. In addition to these goals, Korea also seeks to promote national competitiveness, prepare for the growth of the renewable energy industry, and export industrialization through its strategic promotion of the smart grid. Given its inherent representativeness for Korean implementation of the smart grid and its growth potential, Jeju Island was selected by the Korean government as the site for smart grid testing in June 2009. This paper presents a new design for the electricity market and an operational scheme for testing Smart Electricity Services in the Jeju smart grid demonstration project. The Jeju smart grid test-bed electricity market is constructed on the basis of day-ahead and real-time markets to provide two-way electricity transaction environments. The experience of the test-bed market operation shows that the competitive electricity market can facilitate the smart grid deployment in Korea by allowing various demand side resources to be active market players.
