Rapid Prototyping technology has many advantages such as Rapid Tooling. However, Using the RT technique is limited by the poor surface quality of the RP part. Thus, additional post-machining is required for improving the surface roughness by the sanding, grinding and polishing etc. But, these traditional finishing techniques are time and labor cost consuming. Hence, improving and formulation the finishing technique is inevitably necessary for the RF part. A new post-machining methodology for RP part is presented by the SLS part is used for automobile components in this research. Also, a web based interface tool that user requirements are rapidly ordered for post-machining RP part is developed.
In order to establish the standard manufacturing condition of PET flame retardant sheets, physicochetnical properties of the samples made by the conventional flame-retardant finishing were systematically investigated, including compatibility among flame retardant agent and finishing auxiliaries, surface property, and wicking property. From this results, the addition of washing and renapping process after the shearing process was required for the more effective in producing PET flame-retardant sheet by the standard finishing. The effect of the modification of the regular flame retardant finishing process was studied by FTIR, TGA, and flame retardancy test.

PURPOSE. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of various protocols and systems for finishing and polishing monolithic zirconia on surface topography, phase transformation, and bacterial adhesion. MATERIALS AND METHODS. Three hundred monolithic zirconia specimens were fabricated and then treated with three finishing and polishing systems (Jota [JO], Meisinger [ME], and Edenta [ED]) using four surface treatment protocols: coarse finishing alone (C); coarse finishing and medium polishing (CM); coarse finishing and fine polishing (CF); and coarse finishing, medium polishing, and fine polishing (CMF). Surface roughness, crystal phase transformation, and bacterial adhesion were evaluated using atomic force microscopy, X-ray diffraction, and streptococcal biofilm formation assay, respectively. One-way and two-way analysis of variance with Tukey post hoc tests were used to analyze the results (${\alpha}=.05$). RESULTS. In this study, the surface treatment protocols and systems had significant effects on the resulting roughness. The CMF protocol produced the lowest roughness values, followed by CM and CF. Use of the JO system produced the lowest roughness values and the smallest biofilm mass, while the ME system produced the smallest partial transformation ratio. The ED group exhibited the highest roughness values, biofilm mass, and partial transformation ratio. CONCLUSION. Stepwise surface treatment of monolithic zirconia, combined with careful polishing system selection, is essential to obtaining optimal microstructural and biological surface results.
Objective: This study compared occlusal contact areas of ideally planned set-up and accomplished final models against the initial in class I and II molar relationships at finishing. Methods: Evaluations were performed for 41 post-orthodontic treatment cases, of which 22 were clinically diagnosed as class I and the remainder were diagnosed as full cusp class II. Class I cases had four first premolars extracted, while class II cases had maxillary first premolars extracted. Occlusal contact areas were measured using a three-dimensional scanner and RapidForm 2004. Independent t-tests were used to validate comparison values between class I and II finishings. Repeated measures analysis of variance was used to compare initial, set up, and final models. Results: Molars from cases in the class I finishing for the set-up model showed significantly greater contact areas than those from class II finishing (p < 0.05). The final model class I finishing showed significantly larger contact areas for the second molars (p < 0.05). The first molars of the class I finishing for the final model showed a tendency to have larger contact areas than those of class II finishing, although the difference was not statistically significant (p = 0.078). Conclusions: In set-up models, posterior occlusal contact was better in class I than in class II finishing. In final models, class I finishing tended to have larger occlusal contact areas than class II finishing.
This research takes granite stone based floor finishing exposed to concentrated downpouring and observes the material's physical changes, adhesiveness, compressive strength under wet conditions. The results of the experiments shows that elution of sulfide mineral can occur when granite stones are exposed to downpour, but short term exposure shows little physical changes to the material. This indicates that if post maintenance is properly enacted, long term usage of granite stone materials is also possible.

PURPOSE. Polymer infiltrated ceramic network (PICN) materials, also called hybrid ceramics, are new materials in dental market. The manufacturer of the PICN material VITA Enamic suggests 3 different finishing procedures for this new material. In the present study, surface roughness and color differences caused from different finishing procedures of VITA Enamic were investigated. MATERIALS AND METHODS. 120 specimens were prepared in dimensions $2{\times}10{\times}12mm$ from VITA Enamic hybrid ceramic blocks with 'high translucency' and 'translucency 2M2' shades. The specimens were divided into 8 groups. For each group, different finishing procedures suggested by the manufacturer were performed. Surface roughness values were determined by a tactile portable profilometer. Color changes were evaluated using a clinical spectrophotometer. The data were analyzed using one-way ANOVA and Tukey's post-hoc comparison. The significance level was set at ${\alpha}=0.05$. RESULTS. The roughest surfaces were observed in Glaze Groups. Their surface roughness values were similar to that of the control group. Clinical Kit and Technical Kit groups did not show a statistically significant difference regarding surface roughness (P>.05). The largest color difference regarding ${\Delta}E_{00}$ was observed in Clinical Kit finishing groups. There were also statistically significant color changes between the groups (P<.05). However, all the groups showed clinically acceptable color change (${\Delta}E_{00}$<2.25) except Clinical Kit Groups (${\Delta}E_{00}$>2.25). CONCLUSION. Within the limitations of the present study, it may be suggested that finishing the VITA Enamic restorations by Technical Kit instead of Glaze and Clinical Kit gives better clinical performance in regard to surface roughness and shade matching.
Purpose: This study aimed to confirm the applicability of gloss polishing using automatic barrel finishing with respect to three-dimensional (3D)-printed resin specimens. The surface roughness and grinding angle of the 3D-printed resin specimens were observed with respect to gloss polishing time using automatic dental barrel finishing. Methods: Herein, experiments were conducted on four types of 3D-printed resin specimens. The specimens, with a thickness of 100 ㎛ each, were printed using a 3D printer. Subsequently, light polymerization was performed on these specimens for 15 min. Post this surface treatment, the specimens underwent grinding for 25 min. This process was followed by gloss polishing at 5-min intervals for up to 25 min using automatic dental barrel finishing. The specimens were photographed using a 3D optical microscope, and their surface roughness and grinding angle were measured. Results: The Ra (centerline average roughness) values of all the specimens, except for crown & bridge 10 group and those in the control group that were not polished using automatic barrel finishing, were <0.2 ㎛. However, polishing time needs to be controlled to realize the desired surface roughness and grinding amount considering the hardness of the resin used. Conclusion: Gloss polishing of 3D-printed resin can be realized using automatic dental barrel finishing. However, polishing time needs to be controlled to realize the desired surface roughness and grinding amount considering the hardness of the resin used.
SL(Stereolithography) part is made by piling up thin layers which causes the stair stepping effect at the surface of SL parts. This effect brings about excessive surface roughness and requires additional post-process finishing such as abrasive techniques that are detrimental to part geometry and time consuming. Hence a wax coating and grinding post-process is proposed to improve the surface quality of SL part. The wax that has suitable properties for the proposed post-process is coated all over the part surface. By grinding the thin layer of coated on the SL part only, the surface roughness can be improved without any damage on the part. From the experimental results, This approach is considered to be very practical fur die casting with RT(Rapid Tooling) techniques.
SL(Stereolithography) part is made by piling up thin layers which causes the stair stepping effect at the surface of SL parts. The effect brings about excessive surface roughness and cuts down the merits of using SL part. Hence, additional post-machining finishing such as traditional grinding is required. But the traditional post-machining is detrimental to part geometry and time consuming. In this study, therefore, a paraffin coating and grinding post-machining is newly proposed to improve the surface quality of SL fart. The paraffin which has suitable properties for the proposed post-machining is coated all over the part surface. By grinding the only over-coated paraffin based on boundary of the SL part surface, the surface roughness can be improved without any damage on the part. Also, it is verified that SL part finished by the proposed post-machining process can be applied for rapid tooling as pattern through manufacturing silicon rubber molding and casting test.
The dyeing of Tencel fabric with Coptis chinensis Franch was studied. The colorant was extracted with distilled water under various concentrations of dyestuff, times, mordants. UV-VIS spectra were obtained to find the maximum wavelength and absorbance of colorant. Tencel fabric was dyed with different mordants in pre and post-mordanting methods. Maximum wavelength of spectrum was 343 nm, and K/S value of pre-mordant was higher than post-mordant. Aluminium and stannic mordants changed color from yellow to blue-greenish and red-bluish. Colorfastnesses of light, and washing were low grade, but that of perspiration was increased.
