Recently, the buckling is easy to happen a thin plate and High Tensile Steel is used at the steel structure and marine structure so that it is wide. Especially, the post-buckling is becoming important design criteria in the ship structure to use especially the High Tensile Steel. Consequently, it is important that we grasp the conduct post-buckling behaviour accurately at the stability of the ship structure or marine structure. In this study, examined closely about conduct and snap-through behaviour after initial buckling of thin plate structure which apply compressive load according to various kinds initial deflection shape under all edges simply supported condition that make by buckling formula in each payment in advance rule to place which is representative construction of hull. Analysis method is F.E.M in used ANSYS program and complicated nonlinear behaviour to analyze such as secondary buckling with snap-through behaviour. Nonlinear buckling control is applied between newton-raphson method and arc-length method in this study

In the present paper we discuss the stability and the post-buckling behaviour of thin piezoelastic plates. The first part of the paper is concerned with the modelling of such plates. We discuss the constitutive modelling, starting with the three-dimensional constitutive relations within Voigt's linearized theory of piezoelasticity. Assuming a plane state of stress and a linear distribution of the strains with respect to the thickness of the thin plate, two-dimensional constitutive relations are obtained. The specific form of the linear thickness distribution of the strain is first derived within a fully geometrically nonlinear formulation, for which a Finite Element implementation is introduced. Then, a simplified theory based on the von Karman and Tsien kinematic assumption and the Berger approximation is introduced for simply supported plates with polygonal planform. The governing equations of this theory are solved using a Galerkin procedure and cast into a non-dimensional formulation. In the second part of the paper we discuss the stability and the post-buckling behaviour for single term and multi term solutions of the non-dimensional equations. Finally, numerical results are presented using the Finite Element implementation for the fully geometrically nonlinear theory. The results from the simplified von Karman and Tsien theory are then verified by a comparison with the numerical solutions.
The use of high tensile steel plates is increasing in the fabrication of ship and offshore structures. The main portion of ship structure is usually composed of stiffened plates. In these structures, plate buckling is one of the most important design criteria and buckling load may usually be obtained as an eigenvalue solution of the governing equations for the plate. To use the high tensile steel plate effectively, its thickness may become thin so that the occurrence of buckling is inevitable and design allowing plate buckling may be necessary. When the panel elastic buckling is allowed, it is necessary to get precise understandings about the post-buckling behaviour of thin plates. It is well known that a thin flat plate undergoes secondary buckling after initial buckling took place and the deflection of the initial buckling mode was developed. From this point of view, this paper discusses the post-buckling behaviour of thin plates under thrust including the secondary buckling phenomenon. Series of elastic large deflection analyses were performed on rectangular plates with aspect ratio 3.6 using the analytical method and the FEM.
In this paper the elastic post-buckling behaviour of plates under non-uniform compressive edge stress is investigated. The compatibility differential equations is first solved analytically and then an approximate solution of the equilibrium equation is obtained using the Galerkin method. Explicit expressions are derived for the load-deflection, ultimate strength and membrane stress distributions. Analytical effective width formulations, based on the characteristics of the stress field of the buckled plate, are proposed for this general loading condition. The predicted load-deflection expression is compared with independent test results. Results are also presented detailing the load-deflection behaviour and stress distribution for various aspect ratios.

The lightweight structures such as domes are particularly vulnerable when it has been subjected to high temperature induced by the fire. It is therefore crucial to predict the possible instability path of structures exposed to the fire in structural design process. In this study, the instabilities of single-layer domes is investigated by using finite element technologies with the consideration of high temperature. The material properties of members under high temperature are considered by using the reduction factors which is provided in Eurocodes 3. Some damage patterns are assumed with use of a structural unit which is symmetric in radial direction. For numerical evaluations, the geometrically nonlinear truss element is implemented and the arch-length control method is employed to trace the post-buckling behaviour of domes. From numerical results, it is found to be that a significant change of post-buckling behaviour is detected in dome structures when structural members are exposed to the fire.

Cylindrical shells are often used in the construction of ship and land-based structures such as deck plating with a camber, side shell plating for fore and aft part pipes, as well as storage tanks. It has been believed that such curved shells can be modeled fundamentally as a part of the cylinder under axial compression. From the estimations made based on cylindrical models, it is known that in general, curvature increases the buckling strength of a curved shell when subjected to axial compression, and the same curvature is also expected to increase the overall strength. A series of elastic large deflection analyses were conducted in order to clarify the fundamentals observed in the buckling and post-buckling behaviour of circular cylinders under axial compression. In the present paper, an FE-series analysis has been performed based on the elastic large deflection behaviour, and the effect of parameters has been clarified. The ultimate strength behavior of the circular cylinder was found to be significantly influenced by both the initial deflection and the FE-modeling method.

The homotopy perturbation method (HPM) to predict the pre- and post-buckling behaviour of simply supported steel beams with rectangular hollow section (RHS) is presented in this paper. The non-linear differential equations solved by HPM derive from a kinematics where large twist and cross-sections distortions are considered. The results (linear and non-linear paths) given by the present HPM are compared to those provided by the Newton-Raphson algorithm with arc length and by the commercial FEM code Abaqus. To investigate the effect of cross-sectional distortion of beams, some numerical examples are presented.
The paper investigates the dynamic buckling behaviour of a laminated composite stiffened cylindrical shell using the commercial finite element code ABAQUS. The numerical model of the composite shell is validated by static tests. In particular, the experimental collapse test is numerically simulated by a quasi static analysis carried out by both ABAQUS/Standard and ABAQUS/Explicit. The behaviour in the post-buckling field and the collapse load obtained by the analyses are close to the experimental data. The validated model is then used to study the dynamic buckling behaviour with ABAQUS/Explicit. The effects of the loading magnitude and of the loading duration are investigated, implementing in the analysis also first-ply failure criteria. It is observed that the dynamic buckling load is highly affected by the loading duration.
This paper presents a simplified model to study post-buckling behaviours of the axially restrained steel column at elevated temperatures in fire. The contribution of axial deformation to the curvature of column section is included in theoretical equations. The possible unloading at the convex side of the column when buckling occurs is considered in the stress-strain relationship of steel at elevated temperatures. Parameters that affect structural behaviours of the axial restrained column in fire are studied. The axial restraint cause an increase in the axial force before the column buckles; the buckling temperature of restrained columns will be lower than non-restrained steel columns. However, the axial force of a restrained column decreases after the column buckles with the elevation of temperatures, so make use of the post-buckling behaviour can increase the critical temperature of restrained columns. Columns with temperature gradient across the section will produce lower axial force at elevated temperatures.
The aim of this paper is to investigate the secondary buckling behaviour and mode-coupling of spherical caps under uniformly external pressure. The analysis makes use of a rotational finite shell element on the basis of strain-displacement relations according to Koiter's shell theory (Small Finite Deflections). The post-buckling behaviours after a bifurcation point are analyzed precisely by considering multi-mode coupling between several higher order harmonic wave numbers: and on the way of post-buckling path the positive definiteness of incremental stiffness matrix of uncoupled modes is examined step by step. The secondary buckling point that has zero eigen-value of incremental stiffness matrix and the corresponding secondary mode are obtained, moreover, the secondary post-buckling path is traced.
