  • The study was carried out to confirm the changes of soil physico-chemical properties and population of Fusarium solani by soil managements at preplanning fields for ginseng cultivation. Soil porosity and aggregation had been significantly increased during the managements while exchangeable nitrogen content and bulk density of the soil had been decreased. Available phosphate and exchangeable potassium content, in addition, seemed to be slightly increased. And soil aggregation showed positive correlation with clay, organic matter, soil moisture, and Ca content in the soil but negative with K content. Decrease rate of NH4-N and NO3-N content after soil managements were 55% and 41% in average, respectively. And better decrease effect for NH4-N was obtained in sand loam soil whereas no effect for NO3-N with soil textures. The more ploughing seemed to result in less propagules of F solani in the soil, however there was non significant decrease in population of the pathogen after the soil management. Number of F. solani in soil was significantly less in the fields where gramineous and leguminous crops had been grown as a precrop than other crops tested. Meanwhile there was no correlation between soil texture and population of the pathogen in the soil.

  • To study the effect of the bleaching agents in detergents on the degradation of cotton fabrics, the carboxyl contents, copper numbers, degree of polymerization, the change of tensile strengths and fiber surfaces of cotton fabric before and after washing were examined. The results obtained were as follows: As the cycles and temperature of washing increased, the carboxyl content of washed cotton fabric changed little but the copper unmber of cotton fabric was increased. At 6$0^{\circ}C$ , 8$0^{\circ}C$ the copper number of cotton fabric washed with soidum perborate (PB) was higher than that of with sodium percarbonate (PC). The degree of polymeriazation and tensile strength of cotton fabric were decreased and at higher temperature those were more decreased but were less decreased when tetraacetyehylenediamine (TAED) was added. The degree of polymerization had negative relation with copper unmber but with tensile strength of cotton fabric had positive relation. Cotton fiber surface was more degraded by bleaching agents and hydrogen peroxide exhaustion was increased as the temperature of washing increased. And hydrogen peroxide exhaustion had negative relation with the degree of polymerization.

  • Fatty acid compositions of seventy-two species of Korean fish muscle, 59 species of sea water fish and 13 species of fresh water fish, were studied. Polyunsaturated fatty acid (PUFA) was the richest fatty acid group in all fish samples, accounting for $38.0\pm10.3\%$ of total fatty acids. Monounsaturated fatty acids $(MUFA,\;31.4\pm9.67\%)$ and saturated fatty acids $(SFA, 30.5\pm3.81\%)$ showed a similar level. There was a positive correlation between the total lipid content and MUFA (r=0.7788, p<0.001) and a negative correlation between the total lipid content and PUFA (r= -0.7786, p<0.001) while there was no correlation between the total lipid content and SFA. The proportion of n-3 PUFA and n-6 PUFA was $29.7\pm8.73\%$ and $6,48\pm3.70\%$, respectively, in all fish samples. The n-3 PUFA was rich in sea water fish while n-6 PUFA was rich in fresh water fish. The migratory fish contained the highest level of the n-3 PUFA $(1.82\pm1.01g/100g\;muscle)$, followed by the fresh water fish $(1.09\pm1.04g/100g\;muscle)$, the reef fish $(0.90\pm0.60g/100g\;muscle)$ and the demersal fish $(0.77\pm0.38g/100g\;muscle)$. There was a positive correlation between the total lipid and n-3 PUFA content, $y=0.2083\times+0.05 (r=0.9352,\;p<0.0010)$.

  • Taraxacum coreanum, known as the native Korean white dandelion, has been historically used in traditional medicine due to its various therapeutic properties. However, the specific benefits and mechanisms of white dandelion in alleviating particular symptoms or diseases remain uncertain due to the complexity of its phytochemical profile. In this study, we aimed to elucidate the phytochemical profiles of methanolic extracts of different parts of the white dandelion (flower, leaf, stem, and root) using hybrid ion-mobility Q-TOF MS. Using the trapped ion mobility-based PASEF technique, 3715 and 2114 molecular features with MS2 fragments were obtained in positive and negative ion modes, respectively, and then a total of 360 and 156 phytochemical compounds were annotated by matching with a reference spectral library in positive and negative ion modes, respectively. Subsequent feature-based molecular networking analysis revealed the phytochemical differences across the four different parts of the white dandelion. Our findings indicated that the methanolic extracts contained various bioactive compounds, including lipids, flavonoids, phenolic acids, and sesquiterpenes. In particular, lipids such as linoleic acids, lysophosphatidylcholines, and sesquiterpenoids were predominantly present in the leaf, while flavonoid glycosides and lysophosphoethanolamines were notably enriched in the flower. An assessment of the total phenolic content (TPC) and total flavonoid content (TFC) of the methanolic extracts revealed that the majority of phytochemicals were concentrated in the flower. Interestingly, despite the root extract displaying the lowest TPC and TFC values, it exhibited the highest radical scavenging rate when normalized to TPC and TFC, suggesting a potent antioxidant effect. These findings and further investigations into the biological activities and medicinal potential of the identified compounds, particularly those exclusive to specific plant parts, may contribute to the development of novel therapeutic agents derived from white dandelion.

  • Methanol extract and various solvent fractions from Moutan Cortex were tested for their antimicrobial activities, free radical scavenging activities and antioxidative activities, and phenolic compounds in ethylacetate fraction were analyzed by GC and HPLC. In the antimicrobial activities test, the ethylacetate fraction of methanol extract showed stronger than other fractions. The antimirobial activities were more effective against Gram positive bacteria than Gram negative bacteria. Minimum inhibitory concentration(MIC) of ethylacetate fraction showed 156-1250$\mu\textrm{g}$/ml against Cram positive bacteria and 2500-5000$\mu\textrm{g}$/mg against Gram negative bacteria. The free radical scavenging activities and antioxidative activities using linoleic acid were higher in ethylacetate fraction. The antioxidative activity of ethylacetate fraction was similar to ${\alpha}$-tocopherol. The 3 major phenolic compounds were analyzed by GC and HPLC and these content were determined. The content of p-hydroxybenzoic acid, methyl gallate and gallic acid were 1.35%, 14.61% and 4.01%, respectively.

  • Statistical analysis was carried out to identify the influence on environmental factors between paddy water chemical properties and Chl-a concentration (algae biomass index) using water samples collected in June for 3 years at rice paddy field. As a result of correlation analysis, there was a significantly negative relationships in DO(-0.366) and pH(-0.141). In contrast, significantly positive relationships were founded in COD(+0.431) and TOC(+0.422). According to the result of factor analysis, 3 factors were obtained and indicated that PC1 were Ca, K, Mg cation, PC2 were TOC, T-P, $PO{_4}^{3-}-P$ and DO, and PC3 were T-N and $NH_4{^+}-N$. As a result of linear regression analysis to develop a prediction model for chl-a concentration, the total amount of explanation was 20.6%, PC2 had the greatest influence on the increase of chl-a concentration and PC1 also showed a positive correlation but the PC3 has a negative correlation. In conclusion, carbon and phosporous content are the main factors for the increase algae blooms of rice paddy.

  • In an artificial pH-gradient batch culture system, the effects of acidification on the species composition of a heterotrophic bacterial community were analyzed. As a result of this study, it was found that total bacteria numbers were not affected by acidification and that the population of hetero-trophic bacteria decreased as pH became lower. The heterotrophic bacteria isolated from the entire pH gradient were 12 genera and 22 species. Among them, 64% were gram negative and 36% were gram positive bacteria. As pH decreased, the distribution rate of gram negative bacteria increased while that of gram positive bacteria decreased. The diversity of genera decreased from 13 to 5 as pH decreased from 7 to 3. The G+C content of all of the 202 isolated strains varied from 22.8 to 77.0%, and increased in interspecies of same genus as pH decreased. As a result of clustering analysis, the diversity index of species ranged from 1.13 to 2.37, and it had lower indices as pH decreased. In order to evaluate the diversity of numbers of sample of different size, a rarefaction method was used to analyze the expected number of species appearance according to pH. The statistical significance of species diversity was verified by the fact that the number decreased at lower pH.

  • Verbal cues of virtual influencers (VIs) can enhance VI anthropomorphism and persuasion effectiveness, which can increase user interactions via positive emotional arousal. This study explored the effects of verbal cues in VI social network advertising (SNA) on consumer emotions and engagement. This study employed a mixed-method approach, utilizing text mining (word frequency analysis and latent Dirichlet allocation (LDA) topic modeling) and quantitative regression analysis, to analyze user comments from YouTube videos featuring the VI, Lil Miquela. The findings revealed that consumers exhibit various emotions toward VIs, with fear being the most prominent, followed by amazement and affinity. Regression analyses further indicated the role of VI's verbal cues (e.g., voiceover) in enhancing consumers' emotional engagement with the VI, thereby improving VI SNA performance (e.g., view counts). When VIs use voiceover, positive emotions, including amazement and affinity, increase, leading to higher view counts. Conversely, the absence of verbal cues amplifies negative emotions such as fear, reducing view counts and the overall SNA effectiveness. This study underscores the importance of incorporating human-like verbal cues in VIs to foster consumer affinity and mitigate fear about the VIs. Additionally, practical implications for marketers include the strategies to leverage verbal elements to design more relatable and engaging VI SNA content.

  • To investigate tile effects of growth characteristics on the yield, price per Kg, chemical contents and physical properties in Burley tobacco, ten varieties including Burley 21 were tested in this study. The results obtained are summarized as follows. 1 Forty to fifty days after transplanting, CCR (Crop Growth Rate) was the highest. RCR (Relative Growth Rate) increased up to 40 days, but decreased 50 days when maturation began. High- yielding varieties showed high CCR and RCR till 60 days. 2. Total alkaloid content of cured leaf increased about three times than that of topping stage, but the increased rates were some what different among varieties. 3. Leaf area, stalk diameter, stalk height and days to flower showed positive correlations to yield, whereas leaf thickness and weight per unit leaf area showed negative. 4 Varieties which are high in cured leaf weight ratio and weight per unit leaf thickeners showed relatively poor quality. 5 Nitrogen content was high in leafy and larger stalk diameter variety. 6. There are positive correlation between weight per unit leaf thickness and filling power. The time of combustion was positively correlated to leaf thickness and weight Per unit leaf. 7. It can be concluded that many characteristics are related to the yield, but not quality. It is, there fore, easy to Predict tile yield, but difficult to forecast the qualiffy.

  • The present study examined memory accuracy for faces with positive, negative and neutral emotional expressions to test whether their emotional content can affect visual working memory (VWM) performance. Participants remembered a set of face pictures in which facial expressions of the faces were randomly assigned from pleasant, unpleasant and neutral emotional categories. Participants' task was to report presence or absence of an emotion change in the faces by comparing the remembered set against another set of test faces displayed after a short delay. The change detection accuracies of the pleasant, unpleasant and neutral face conditions were compared under two memory exposure duration of 500ms vs. 1000ms. Under the duration of 500ms, the accuracy in the pleasant condition was higher than both unpleasant and neutral conditions. However the difference disappeared when the duration was extended to 1000ms. The results indicate that a positive facial expression can improve VWM accuracy relative to the negative or positive expressions especially when there is not enough time for forming durable VWM representations.
