  • In order to accomplish the digital map production I/O devices should be used which are used for data input procedure to convert original paper map(hardcopy) data into computer compatible digital map data, and for the mapsheet output procedure of worked out data. For the input device, digitizer and scanner are most frequently used. Digitizer has possibility of direct production of digital data, and are mainly used for input procedure of partly plotted source map. In contrary, scanner is rather easy to operate the instrument, so that is widely used for the input procedure of original sheet map. In this study, to extract the input device characteristics, some kinds of digitizers and scanners were cheesed and used for the positional error analysis through the operational method and types of instruments. Also for the output device characteristics, some kinds of plotter and materials are used and compared to analyze the positional error through the instrumental types and output sheet materials.

  • Patients with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) often have more aggravated symptoms in the supine position. We tried to investigate the clinical characteristics and the predictive factors for positional OSA. Polysomnographic data were reviewed for OSA patients (apnea hypopnea index, $AHI{\geq}5$) from April, 2008 to April, 2011 at the Asan Medical Center. Clinical data, comorbid medical condition data and questionnaires (SF-36, MFI-20, ESS, BDI, STAI) were assessed. All patients were classified into two groups: positional patients (PP) group and non-positional patients (NPP) group. PP was defined as a patient who had the AHI in the supine position was at least twice as high as that in the lateral position. The body position of patients was confirmed by sleep position sensor and video monitor. All patients had at least 30 minutes of positional and 30 minutes of non-positional sleep. We compared clinical, medical, polysomnographic data, and questionnaire results between two (PP and NPP) groups and investigated predictive factors for the PP group using binary logistic regression analysis. In total, 371 patients were investigated. 265 (71.4%) was categorized as PP group and 106 (28.5%) as NPP group. The mean age ($mean{\pm}SD$) was higher in the PP group ($52.4{\pm}9.8$) than in the NPP group ($49.5{\pm}11.9$) (p<0.05). Comparison of sleep parameters between the PP and the NPP group showed that the PP group had significantly lower BMI (PP: $26.1{\pm}3.2kg/m^2$; NPP: $27.8{\pm}4.3kg/m^2$, p<0.001), neck circumference (PP: $39.7{\pm}2.8cm$; NPP: $41.5{\pm}3.7cm$, p<0.001) and hypertension rate (PP: n=89/265 (33.5%); NPP: n=48/106 (45.2%), p=0.0240). In the PP group, the percentage of deep sleep (PP: $8.7{\pm}8.1%$; NPP: $5.6{\pm}7.0%$, P=0.001) and rapid eye movement (REM) (PP: $17.5{\pm}6.1%$; NPP: $14.0{\pm}6.9%$, p<0.001) were significantly higher whereas the percentage of light sleep (stage N1) was significantly lower than the NPP group (PP: $30.4{\pm}12.3$; NPP: $44.5{\pm}20.8%$, p<0.001). During the sleep, the AHI in the supine position (PP: $48.6{\pm}19.5$; NPP: $60.5{\pm}22.6$, p<0.001) and in the non-supine position (PP: $9.4{\pm}8.9$; NPP: $48.4{\pm}24.8$, p=<0.001) were significantly lower and the minimal arterial oxygen saturation in non-REM sleep was significantly higher in the PP group (PP: $80.3{\pm}7.6$; NPP: $75.1{\pm}9.9$, p=<0.001). There were no significant differences in all questionnaires including quality of life. The results of the binary logistic regression analysis showed that age, the amount of REM sleep(%) and AHI were significant predictive factors for positional OSA. The significant predictive factors for positional OSA were older age, higher percentage of REM and lower AHI. The questionnaire results were not significantly different between the two groups.

  • Meat quality comprises a set of key traits such as pH, meat color, water-holding capacity, tenderness and marbling. These traits are complex because they are affected by multiple genetic and environmental factors. The aim of this study was to investigate the molecular genetic basis underlying nine meat quality-related traits in a Yorkshire pig population using a genome-wide association study (GWAS) and subsequent biological pathway analysis. In total, 45,926 single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) markers from 543 pigs were selected for the GWAS after quality control. Data were analyzed using a genome-wide efficient mixed model association (GEMMA) method. This linear mixed model-based approach identified two quantitative trait loci (QTLs) for meat color (b*) on chromosome 2 (SSC2) and one QTL for shear force on chromosome 8 (SSC8). These QTLs acted additively on the two phenotypes and explained 3.92%-4.57% of the phenotypic variance of the traits of interest. The genes encoding HAUS8 on SSC2 and an lncRNA on SSC8 were identified as positional candidate genes for these QTLs. The results of the biological pathway analysis revealed that positional candidate genes for meat color (b*) were enriched in pathways related to muscle development, muscle growth, intramuscular adipocyte differentiation, and lipid accumulation in muscle, whereas positional candidate genes for shear force were overrepresented in pathways related to cell growth, cell differentiation, and fatty acids synthesis. Further verification of these identified SNPs and genes in other independent populations could provide valuable information for understanding the variations in pork quality-related traits.

  • This paper presents comparative analysis of the traits of personal network structure shaping in local press organizations of Korea. For this analysis, this study attempts to investigate three topics. First, the density traits of personal network structure in the whole of local press organization. Second, the comparison of density trait shaping in personal network structure between press section of local broadcasting stations and local newspaper companies. Third, the positional trait in each local press organization. To answer the questions, the data concerning commissioners and executive members in local daily newspapers and local broadcasting organizations from the Civic Government to the People's Government have been collected and analyzed. The interconnections of regional(birthplace) and educational(university graduated) aspect were analyzed via methods of cross analysis, density analysis and correspondence analysis. In brief, major findings of this study are as follows ; As a result of analyzing cross analysis and density analysis of the personal network based of regional and educational aspect, the numerical value of density was too high on the whole of local press organizations. But, especially local newspaper companies has been showed that was higher density compared with press section of local broadcasting stations. And, positional distance between local press organizations were showed obviously in the case of regional(birthplace) aspect. But, in case of educational aspect, positional distance were showed obviously between commissioners and executive members.

  • For identifying how a sample knit fabric is woven a method to obtain positional information of each yarn of the sample from voxel data made out of its x-ray CT images is newly proposed in this paper. The positional information is obtained by tracing the each yarn. The each yarn is traced by estimating a direction of the yarn in a certain small region in which the yarn can be regarded as straight and moving the region slightly along the estimated direction alternately. The yarn direction is estimated by correlating the voxel data in the region with a three-dimensional yarn model. The effectiveness of this method is confirmed by applying the method to voxel data made out of CT images of a knit fabric experimentally.

  • In this paper, kinematic analysis for a planar 3-DOF redundant stage which has four actuators is presented by using SimMechanics software package. SimMechanics is a block sets of the Matlab/Simulink package. The SimMechanics enables a simplified model for a complex kinematic mechanism, since kinematic relationship between joints and linkages for the kinematic chains are expressed as line vectors and block diagrams. Here, positional error and limit values of movement ranges of the stage are evaluated by using the SimMechanics. The validity of the kinematic characteristics model was compared with theoretical kinematic analyses for the 3-DOF stage.

  • In this study, regarding to the generalization of the map, we analyze how the different tolerances influence on the performances of linear generalization operators. For the analysis, we apply the generalization operators, especially two simplification algorithms provided in the commercial GIS software, to 1:1000 digital topographic map for analyzing the aspect of the changes in positional error depending on the tolerances. And we evaluate the changes in positional error with the quantitative assessments. The results show that the analysis can be used as the criteria for determining proper tolerance in linear generalization.

  • This paper aims at finding out dominant robot configurations with maximal position errors, which can be attributed to the parameter errors, by using Monte-Carlo simulation for error analysis of a 3-axis SCARA(Selective Compliance Assembly Robot Arm) type robot. In particular, the Monte-Carlo simulation is used for virtually measuring on the position errors, instead of physical measurement. In order to measure the observability of the model parameters with respect to a set of robot configurations, we propose the observability index which is defined as the product of singular values for error propagation matrices. Thus the index can be used for discriminating dominant robot configurations from a set of simulated ones in conjunction with standard deviation of positional errors, This paper analyzed error by robot positional error.

  • This paper presents a comparison between two different procedures to deal with the geometric nonlinear analysis of space trusses, considering its structural stability aspects. The first nonlinear formulation, called positional, uses nodal positions rather than nodal displacements to describe the finite elements kinematics. The strains are computed directly from the proposed position concept, using a Cartesian coordinate system fixed in space. The second formulation, called corotational, is based on the explicit separation between rigid body motion and deformed motion. The numerical examples demonstrate the performances and the convergence of the responses for both analyzed formulations. Two numerical examples were compared, including a lattice beam with postcritical behavior. Despite the two completely different approaches to deal with the geometrical nonlinear problem, the results present good agreement.
