  • Wind power system is generally divided into the onshore wind turbine and the offshore wind turbine according to site locations. The offshore wind turbine is manufactured as a closed nacelle cooling system including a heat exchanger to prevent corrosion, but the onshore wind turbine is manufactured as open nacelle cooling system dependent on only the outdoor air without a heat exchanger. The indoor of a nacelle which is composed of a generator, foil power converters and a gearbox with a lot of heat is very narrow and airtight. This aim of the study is to demonstrate the temperature effect depending on positions of air-supply and exhaust ports. And this study discusses the flow field and removal efficiency of heat caused by components.

  • In development of monitoring and control systems, one of the most important points is to consider a redundancy so that the system can be operated normally although hardware faults are partly occurred. The purpose of this paper is to introduce a monitoring and control system with a redundancy function for I/O servers and communication networks. I/O servers composed with an active server and a standby server. Each server also has 3 communication ports, 2 ports of them were connected to field units and the other 1 port was connected to the other server. Field units have to be constructed to 2 communication ports connected I/O servers through communication lines. Also, server communication module was implemented for analyzing and handling fault elements. and was submodularized for linking easily with a monitoring and control module. An experiment with 2 servers and 2 field units was constructed to demonstrate its effectiveness.

  • In this paper, the connection device of RS232C and TCP/IP implementation using ARM processor and LINUX is proposed. Data interaction flash memory the multiple serial ports are transferred to ARM processor and the data are processed and formed into data packet for transfer via internet protocol. Packet flash memory Internet is decoded to extract the serial port data. The serial ports supports RS232C asynchronous protocol communication and control program is developed in GNU-C and installed in the on-board memory for packet conversion and control. The research result can be applied to terminal server, printer server and multiple serial ports equipments.

  • Masked intake ports of a DOHC gasoline engine were divised and the shape was optimized to maximize the swirling and tumbling motions in the cylinder. Performances of the ports, swirling number, tumbling number and discharge coefficient were measured by Ricardo's rig test. By combination of the angle and height of the protrusions in the intake ports wall, swirling and tumbling strength can be controlled and the port shape can be optimized to increase the swirling number 13 times and tumbling number 2 times larger than those of an original port of DOHC engine with the expense of 3% decrease of discharge coefficient.

  • Usually, Bullectomy with VATS requires three ports on a chest wall for thoracosope, endo lung grasper, and endo auto-suture. However, in some case, the author could successfully accomplish operation using the endo-loop through two ports on a chest wall. The technique reduces postoperative pain and decreases operative wound.

  • As the competition among ports emphasizes container cargo nowadays, it is essential for Incheon Port to respond wisely to the trend. But the timely establishment of basic logistics infra for the attraction of container cargo is delayed in comparison with rival ports; marketing activity is also depressed. Furthermore the understanding and the effort for the marketing of the institutions and businesses concerned with Incheon Port are less than sufficient. The marketing research for customers who are the basis and axis of marketing activities is almost wholly lacking. Things investigated by rival ports and external research institutions differ much in statistic according to the persons who cite them. As the study of port marketing is very theoretical and general, its application to reality is so much restricted. Therefore, this thesis considers ways for the main group of marketing to think and behave, from the viewpoint of shipping agents and the owners of cargo - the practical using group of Incheon Port. This thesis aims to deliver the systematic information and consistent view concerned with marketing.

  • In the past, ports have been mainly developed in natural harbors but nowadays ports are built wherever they can be economically justified. Therefore, construction of breakwater in area that establishment of structure is disadvantageous is risen according to the change of conditions to the location for ports. In case of building gravity breakwater in such point, need that plane shapes of more reasonable section permitting wave overtopping is necessary. One of the earliest methods for solving unsteady incompressible flow including free surfaces is the MAC(Marker And Cell) method by Harlow and Welch (1965). Recently. VOF(Volume Of Fluid) method to improve several drawbacks of MAC method is suggested by Hirt and Nichols(1981) and utilized extensively in fields of hydrodynamics. Wave overtopping phenomenon is simulated including wave breaking for permeable breakwater by numerical analysis and investigated features of wave overtopping behind structure using VOF method.

A Measurement Way on the Effectiveness of Port Investment: Congestion Model Approach (항만투자의 유효성 측정방법: congestion모형 접근)

  • The purpose of this paper is to investigate the effectiveness of port investemnt which is one of the important elements for measuring the port efficiency by using congestion approach of DEA(Data Envelopment Analysis). Congestion is said to be present when increases in inputs result in input reductions. Congestion approach takes the forms of weak input disposability and strong input disposability. Empirical analysis by using congestion approach in this paper identified inefficiencies in the inputs including port investment, and indicated inefficient ports like the ports of Sokcho, Gunsan, Pohang, and Seoguipo which shows the large amount of slacks with congestion especially in terms of port investment. Therefore these ports should examine the reason about the inefficiency of port investment. The main policy implication based on the findings of this study is that The Ministry of Maritime Affairs & fisheries in Korea should introduce congestion approach when the amount of port investment to each port is decided.

Fouling Bryozoa of Korean Ports and Harbours

  • This study aims to investigate the fouling bryozoans which attach to artificial structures of Korean ports and harbours. The materials have been collected from 56 sites during the period from 2008 to 2012. As a result of the present study, 40 species of fouling bryozoans were identified. The most abundant species are Bugula neritina (Linnaeus, 1758), Tricellaria occidentalis (Trask, 1857), Watersipora subtoquata (d'Orbigny, 1852), and Cryptosula pallasiana (Moll, 1803). Three species, Flustrellidra armata Grischenko, Seo and Min, 2010, Cauloramphus korensis Seo, 2001, and Parasmittina contraria Seo, 1993 are endemic to Korea. A total of 70 species of fouling bryozoans have been reported in Korea with 16 new bryozoans resulting from this study.
