This work presents a comprehensive investigation of buckling behavior of bidirectional functionally graded imperfect beams exposed to several thermal loading with general boundary conditions. The nonlinear governing equations are derived based on 2D shear deformation theory together with Von Karman strain-displacement relation. The beams are composed of two different materials. Its properties are porosity-dependent and are continuously distributed over the length and thickness of the beams following a defined law. The resulting equations are solved analytically in order to determine the thermal buckling characteristics of BDFG porous beams. The precision of the current solution and its accuracy have been proven by comparison with works previously published. Numerical examples are presented to explore the effects of the thermal loading, the elastic foundation parameters, the porosity distribution, the grading indexes and others factors on the nonlinear thermal buckling of bidirectional FG beam rested on elastic foundation.
A free vibration analysis and wave propagation of functionally graded porous beams has been presented in this work using a high order hyperbolic shear deformation theory. Unlike other conventional shear deformation theories, a new displacement field that introduces indeterminate integral variables has been used to minimize the number of unknowns. The constituent materials of the beam are assumed gradually variable along the direction of height according to a simple power law distribution in terms of the volume fractions of the constituents. The variation of the pores in the direction of the thickness influences the mechanical properties. It is therefore necessary to predict the effect of porosity on vibratory behavior and wave velocity of FG beams in this study. A new function of the porosity factor has been developed. Hamilton's principle is used for the development of wave propagation equations in the functionally graded beam. The analytical dispersion relationship of the FG beam is obtained by solving an eigenvalue problem. Illustrative numerical examples are given to show the effects of volume fraction distributions, beam height, wave number, and porosity on free vibration and wave propagation in a functionally graded beam.

This study presents free vibration of beam made of porous material. The mechanical properties of the beam is variable in the thickness direction and the beam is investigated in three situations: poro/nonlinear nonsymmetric distribution, poro/nonlinear symmetric distribution, and poro/monotonous distribution. First, the governing equations of porous beam are derived using principle of virtual work based on Euler-Bernoulli theory. Then, the effect of pores compressibility on natural frequencies of the beam is studied by considering clamped-clamped, clamped-free and hinged-hinged boundary conditions. Moreover, the results are compared with homogeneous beam with the same boundary conditions. Finally, the effects of poroelastic parameters such as pores compressibility, coefficients of porosity and mass on natural frequencies has been considered separately and simultaneously.
In this work, the dynamic response of functionally graded beams on variable elastic foundations is studied using a novel higher-order shear deformation theory (HSDT). Unlike the conventional HSDT, the present one has a new displacement field which introduces undetermined integral variables. The FG beams were assumed to be supported on Winkler-Pasternak type foundations in which the Winkler modulus is supposed to be variable in the length of the beam. The variable rigidity of the elastic foundation is assumed to be linear, parabolic and sinusoidal along the length of the beam. The material properties of the FG porous beam vary according to a power law distribution in terms of the volume fraction of the constituents. The equations of motion are determined using the virtual working principle. For the analytical solution, Navier method is used to solve the governing equations for simply supported porous FG beams. Numerical results of the present theory for the free vibration of FG beams resting on elastic foundations are presented and compared to existing solutions in the literature. A parametric study will be detailed to investigate the effects of several parameters such as gradient index, thickness ratio, porosity factor and foundation parameters on the frequency response of porous FG beams.

This article presents a new analytical model to study the effect of porosity on the shear correction factors (SCFs) of functionally graded porous beams (FGPB). For this analysis, uneven and logarithmic-uneven porosity functions are adopted to be distributed through the thickness of the FGP beams. Critical to the application of this theory is a determination of the correction factor, which appears as a coefficient in the expression for the transverse shear stress resultant; to compensate for the assumption that the shear strain is uniform through the depth of the cross-section. Using the energy equivalence principle, a general expression is derived from the static SCFs in FGPB. The resulting expression is consistent with the variationally derived results of Reissner's analysis when the latter are reduced from the two-dimensional case (plate) to the one-dimensional one (beam). A convenient algebraic form of the solution is presented and new study cases are given to illustrate the applicability of the present formulation. Numerical results are presented to illustrate the effect of the porosity distribution on the (SCFs) for various FGPBs. Further, the law of changing the mechanical properties of FG beams without porosity and the SCFare numerically validated by comparison with some available results.

A finite element method analysis framework is introduced for the free vibration analyses of functionally graded porous beam structures by employing two variables trigonometric shear deformation theory. Both Young's modulus and material density of the FGP beam element are simultaneously considered as grading through the thickness of the beam. The finite element approach is developed using a nonlocal strain gradient theory. The governing equations derived here are solved introducing a 3-nodes beam element. A comprehensive parametric study is carried out, with a particular focus on the effects of various structural parameters such as the dispersion patterns of GPL reinforcements and porosity, thickness ratio, boundary conditions, nonlocal scale parameter and strain gradient parameters. The results indicate that porosity distribution and GPL pattern have significant effects on the response of the nanocomposite beams.
In this paper, a free vibration analysis of functionally graded beam made of porous material is presented. The material properties are supposed to vary along the thickness direction of the beam according to the rule of mixture, which is modified to approximate the material properties with the porosity phases. For this purpose, a new displacement field based on refined shear deformation theory is implemented. The theory accounts for parabolic distribution of the transverse shear strains and satisfies the zero traction boundary conditions on the surfaces of the beam without using shear correction factors. Based on the present refined shear deformation beam theory, the equations of motion are derived from Hamilton's principle. The rule of mixture is modified to describe and approximate material properties of the FG beams with porosity phases. The accuracy of the present solutions is verified by comparing the obtained results with the existing solutions. Illustrative examples are given also to show the effects of varying gradients, porosity volume fraction, aspect ratios, and thickness to length ratios on the free vibration of the FG beams.
This paper aims to investigate the vibration analysis of functionally graded porous (FGP) beams using State-space approach with several classical and non-classical boundary conditions. The materials properties of the porous FG beams are considered to have even and uneven distributions profiles along the thickness direction. The equation of motion for FGP beams with various boundary conditions is obtained through Hamilton's principle. State-space approach is used to obtain the governing equation of porous FG beam. The comparison of the results of this study with those in the literature validates the present analysis. The effects of span-to-depth ratio (L/h), of distribution shape of porosity and others parameters on the dynamic behavior of the beams are described. The results show that the boundary conditions, the geometry of the beams and the distribution shape of porosity affect the fundamental frequencies of the beams.

Taking a look at the previously published papers, it is revealed that there is a porosity index limitation (around 0.35) for the mechanical behavior analysis of the functionally graded porous (FGP) structures. Over mentioned magnitude of the porosity index, the elastic modulus falls below zero for some parts of the structure thickness. Therefore, the current paper is presented to analyze the vibrational behavior of the FGP Timoshenko beams (FGPTBs) using a novel refined formulation regardless of the porosity index magnitude. The silica aerogel foundation and various hydrothermal loadings are assumed as the source of external forces. To obtain the FGPTB's properties, the power law is hired, and employing Hamilton's principle in conjunction with Navier's solution method, the governing equations are extracted and solved. In the end, the impact of the various variables as different beam materials, elastic foundation parameters, and porosity index is captured and displayed. It is revealed that changing hygrothermal loading from non-linear toward uniform configuration results in non-dimensional frequency and stiffness pushing up. Also, Al - Al2O3 as the material composition of the beam and the porosity presence with the O pattern, provide more rigidity in comparison with using other materials and other types of porosity dispersion. The presented computational model in this paper hopes to help add more accuracy to the structures' analysis in high-tech industries.
In this disquisition, an exact solution method is developed for analyzing the vibration characteristics of magneto-electro-elastic functionally graded (MEE-FG) beams by considering porosity distribution and various boundary conditions via a four-variable shear deformation refined beam theory for the first time. Magneto-electroelastic properties of porous FG beam are supposed to vary through the thickness direction and are modeled via modified power-law rule which is formulated using the concept of even and uneven porosity distributions. Porosities possibly occurring inside functionally graded materials (FGMs) during fabrication because of technical problem that lead to creation micro-voids in FG materials. So, it is necessary to consider the effect of porosities on the vibration behavior of MEE-FG beam in the present study. The governing differential equations and related boundary conditions of porous MEE-FG beam subjected to physical field are derived by Hamilton's principle based on a four-variable tangential-exponential refined theory which avoids the use of shear correction factor. An analytical solution procedure is used to achieve the natural frequencies of porous-FG beam supposed to magneto-electrical field which satisfies various boundary conditions. A parametric study is led to carry out the effects of material graduation exponent, porosity parameter, external magnetic potential, external electric voltage, slenderness ratio and various boundary conditions on dimensionless frequencies of porous MEE-FG beam. It is concluded that these parameters play noticeable roles on the vibration behavior of MEE-FG beam with porosities. Presented numerical results can be applied as benchmarks for future design of MEE-FG structures with porosity phases.
