그래핀을 포함하는 폴리설폰 멤브레인의 구조 및 열 특성 (Structural and Thermal Properties of Polysulfone Membrane Including Graphene)

  • Polysulfone 수지를 사용한 그래핀 복합조성물을 제조하고, 이것들의 멤브레인에 대한 잔류응력과 열전도 특성을 분석하였다. 그래핀을 포함하는 polysulfone 멤브레인의 잔류응력분석은 Si (100) 기판에 스핀코팅으로 $10{\mu}m$ 두께의 막을 도포하여 준비한 시료를 대상으로 하였으며, 잔류응력의 측정은 온도를 승온하고 냉각하는 완전한 1주기 동안 수행하였다. 그래핀을 포함하는 polysulfone 평막을 증류수를 사용한 상전이법으로 제조하여 두께방향과 면방향으로 열전도도를 구분하여 각각 측정하였으며 평막시료의 열전도 이방성을 분석하였다. 그래핀의 구조적 특징에 의해 이를 포함하는 polysulfone 막의 잔류응력은 그래핀 함량이 증가함에 따라 점차로 완화되는 경향을 나타내었고, 열전도특성은 평막형성의 구조적 특성과 그래핀의 고유특성에 의해 두께방향과 면방향의 차이를 확인할 수 있었다.

  • 본 연구는 소수성 고분자재료인 PSf와 양이온성화된 AMPS막을 제조하여 이의 투과특성에 관하여 조사하였다. AMPS분리막은 소수성인 PSf막에 비하여 fouling이 감소하였다. 특히, AMPS막은 양이온성을 띠고 있어 염기성 염료, 단백질, 아미노산과 같이 막표면과 동일한 전하를 가지고 있는 용질을 효과적으로 분리할 수 있다.

Clay를 함유한 Polysulfone 나노섬유 복합막의 제조 및 물리적 특성 연구 (Mechanical Property of Clay-polymer Nanofiber Composite Membrane)

  • 본 연구에서는 복합막의 물성향상을 위해 clay를 도입한 polysulfone 나노섬유 복합막을 제조하였다. Polysulfone/clay 복합막은 clay가 들어간 N,N-dimethyl acetamide와 acetone 혼합용매에 polysulfone을 첨가한 후 전기방사법을 이용하여 제조하였으며, 제조된 나노섬유 복합막은 적층수를 변화해 기공크기를 조절한 후 사용하였다. 전반적인 분리막의 특성은 SEM, contact angle, 기공특성, tensile strength, water flux 분석을 사용하여 고찰하였다. 특히 SEM image로 clay의 도입을 확인하였으며 contact angle 측정을 통해 표면이 개질된 결과를 확인할 수 있었다. 그리고 clay의 도입량에 따른 복합막의 기계적 물성을 확인하였다. 따라서 본 연구에서 제조된 분리막은 수처리용 분리막으로 충분히 활용 가능할 것으로 판단된다.

Enhancement of hydrophilicity and anti-fouling property of polysulfone membrane using amphiphilic nanocellulose as hydrophilic modifier

  • In the present work, we present a new effective hydrophilicity modifier for polysulfone (PSf) membrane. Firstly, amphiphilic nanocellulose (ANC) with different substitution degrees (SD) was synthesized by esterification reaction with nanocellulose (NC) and dodecyl succinic anhydride (DDSA). The SD and morphology of ANC were characterized by titration method and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Then, the polysulfone (PSf)/ANC blend membranes were prepared via an immersion phase inversion method. The influence of SD on the morphology, structure and performances of PSf/ANC blend membrane were carefully investigated by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), scanning electron microscope (SEM), mechanical property test, contact angle measuring instrument and filtration experiment. The results showed that the mechanical property, hydrophilicity and anti-fouling property of all the PSf/ANC blend membranes were higher than those of pure PSf membrane and PSf/NC membrane, and the membrane properties were increased with the increasing of SD values. As ANC-4 has the highest SD value, PSf/ANC-4 membrane exhibited the optimal membrane properties. In conclusion, the prepared ANC can be used as an additive to improve the hydrophilicity and anti-fouling properties of polysulfone (PSf) membrane.

  • 양이온성의 quaternary ammonium polysulfone인 AMPS는 2단계 과정을 통하여 제조하였다. 먼저, 폴리술폰을 chloromethyl methyl ether와 촉매로 ZnO를 사용하여 chloromethylation반응으로 CMPS를 제조하는 단계와 준비된 CMPS에 triethylamine을 반응시켜 quaternary ammonium기를 도입시키는 amination 단계로 이루어 진다.

Preparation of activated carbon incorporated polysulfone membranes for dye separation

  • Immediate use of activated carbon incorporated polysulfone membrane application for dye separation was reported in this work. Dimethylformamide (DMF) was used as the solvent for the membrane preparation. The membrane thus prepared were characterized in terms of surface morphology, ATR-FTIR, AFM, experimental results as membrane performance. The resultant nanofiltration (NF) membranes were tested with Congo red dye concentration 200 mg/L. The water permeability was found to be considerably higher than that reported in literature. Experimental results show that the real rejection of the Congo red is 99.57% over the transmembrane pressure 100 psi using 30% activated carbon incorporated membrane. Prepared NF membranes shows the corresponding permeates fluxes were $40Lm^{-2}h^{-1}$ to $82Lm^{-2}h^{-1}$ with different activated carbon percentage incorporated in polysulfone membrane. The present study demonstrated that dye rejection enhanced NF may be a feasible method for the dye wastewater treatment. The overall observations thus indicated that toxic residual dyes can be appreciably separated from the membrane technology, provided that the accompanying polymeric membrane, activated carbon as binding agents and the process parameter levels are astutely selected.

Fouling characteristics of humic substances on tight polysulfone-based ultrafiltration membrane

  • Fouling characteristics of humic substances on tight ultrafiltration (UF) membrane have been investigated. The tight UF membrane was prepared by blending polysulfone (PSf) in N.N-dimethylacetamide (DMAc) with 25%wt of Polyethylene glycol (PEG400) and 4%wt of acetone. Fouling characteristic of the modified PSf membrane was observed during peat water filtration in different trans-membrane pressure (TMP). It was found that the acetone modified membrane provided 13% increase in TMP during five hours of peat water filtration, where a stable flux was reached within 150 minutes. Meanwhile, the increase of TMP from 10 psig to 30 psig resulted in a fouling resistance enhancement of 60%. Furthermore, based on the fouling analysis, fouling mechanism at the first phase of filtration was attributed to intermediate blocking while the second phase was cake formation.

  • A hollow-fiber type polysulfone UF membrane was surface-coated with hydroxyethylmethacrylate (HEMA). The effect of various coating parameters on permeation flux, such as concentration ratio of AIBN/HEMA, solvent(water or methanol), and UV irradiation time, was investigated. The water permeation flux of oil-emulsion increased with concentration ratio of AIBN/HEMA, and increased with UV irradiation time. The flux of the membrane coated in solution using methanol as a solvent was greater than that of the membrane coated in solution using water as a solvent. The flux of both the coated and the uncoated membrane declined with the operation. The flux decline means that the membrane fouling by oil-emulsion occurs. However, the fouling of the coated membrane was much less than that of the uncoated membrane.
