  • SNMP(Simple Network Management Protocol) could have the overhead of network, if the number of the agent system which is managed by the management system is increased by the polling for the collection of network management information and the reply traffic for it. In this Paper, the polling method used in SNMP is improved, and Group Polling method is proposed. This can reduce the overhead of network, on case that the agent system is to be increased. The proposed method collects information by grouping agent systems, and have smaller reply latency time and communication overhead than the previous method. So if the number of agent system or the Polling count is numerous, the proposed method is more efficient. As the result of the prototype test, the increasement of agent system can have small variation of traffic and transmission delay time.

  • This paper presents tile efficient polling architecture for simple network management protocol (SNMP). Now a day, tile internet traffics have been increasing rapidly within a few years as the subscriber's network to connect internet is provided commonly. With this trend, the network management traffics also make the same phases. To provide numerous higher Quality services to the customers, the management traffic must be controlled within the permitted limit. This paper proposes the policy-based felling architecture for SNMP MIB with several parameters and suggests the data collecting layer architecture for the efficient polling.

  • The data transmission of MVB(Multifunction Vehicle Bus) of TCN(Train Network Communication) is divided into the periodic transmission phase and the sporadic transmission phase. TCN standard defines the event-polling method for the message transfer in the sporadic phase. However, since the event-polling method does not use pre-scheduling to the priority of the messages to be transmitted, it is inefficient for the real-time systems. To schedule message transmission, a master node should know the priority of message to be transmitted by a slave node prior to the scheduling the sporadic phase, but the existing TCN standard does not support any protocol for this. This paper proposes the slave frame bit-stuffing algorithm, with which a master node gets the necessary information for transmission scheduling and includes the simulation results of the event-polling method and the proposed algorithm.

  • IEEE 802.11 Point Coordination Function (PCF) mode is defined to support time bounded traffic, such as voice in wireless LANs. The poll scheduling plays an important role in IEEE 802.11 PCF mode operation. This paper proposed a Multicast Polling Scheme (MPC) to increase the performance of wireless LANs. Moreover, we proposed a polling schedule scheme for our proposed multi-poll to serve real-time traffic. The results show that the proposed mechanism is more efficient than the original IEEE 802.11 PCF.

  • A modified PCF(Point Coordination Function) protocol with the optimal polling sequence is defined in detail and shown to improve the efficiency of the conventional PCF protocol in IEEE 802.11 wireless LAN standard. The problem for the optimal polling sequence is formulated as TSP(Travelling Salesman Problem) with the distance values of 1's or 0's. Numerical examples show that the optimal polling sequence increases the capacity of the real-time service such as VoIP(Voice over Internet Protocol).

  • Although the Distributed Coordination Function is the fundamental access protocol of IEEE 802.11, it cannot meet the Quality of Service (QoS) requirements in general. So, the Point Coordinate Function is provided to support QoS related services. However, it has inherent problems. Access point (AP) has no knowledge of the queue status and instantaneous channel condition of stations in the system. In this paper we propose an efficient and versatile polling scheduler that shows excellent throughput and fairness performance. Comparison with well known polling schemes is provided through computer simulation under various channel situations including error prone environments.

  • In this paper, a modified PCF (Point Coordination Function) MAC (Medium Access Control) Protocol is proposed to support the multiple direct link communication between STAs (STAtions) in infrastructure mode IEEE 802.11 wireless LANs. By the proposed MAC protocol, the direct link communication between STAs, which are located within the communication range of each other, is allowed without the use of AP (Access Point) as a relay. Moreover, when multiple direct data communication between STAs can be simultaneously performed with a sufficiently small interference, multiple simultaneous direct link communication is allowed for the efficient use of radio bandwidth. AP polls STAs to grant the transmission opportunities using the direct link communication by transmitting the polling frames to STAs. An efficient polling method for granting the transmission opportunities to STAs is proposed to reduce the number of the polling frame transmissions and enhance the PCF MAC performance.

  • This article introduces the infrastructure of public opinion research in Japan by reviewing the development of polling organizations and the current situation of social surveys. In Japan, the polling infrastructure developed through the direction and encouragement of the U.S. occupation authorities. In the early 1969s, however, survey researchers began to conduct their own original polls in not only domestic but also cross-national contexts. An exploration of recent survey trends reveals that polling organizations tended to conduct more surveys during summer, in the mid-range of sample size (1,000-2,999), based on random sampling (response rates of 40-50%), and through the mail between April 2011 and March 2012. The media was the most active polling sector.

  • The implementation of client polling as a weak cache coherence mechanism has two major drawbacks: Firstly, the cache may return a stale copy if the object is changed in the origin server while the cached copy is considered valid. Secondly, the cache can invalidate a cached copy that is still valid in the server. Therefore, we propose a multilevel pre-fetching (MLP) in conjunction with the client polling to refine these drawbacks. MLP is introduced to improve the level of freshness among the cached objects. The simulation results presented in this paper show that the proposed MLP significantly minimizes the number of stale objects and reduces the invalidation messages sent out to the server, i.e., increase the cache HIT rate.
