The techniques of pulse and cyclic voltammetry were applied to the determination of (E$_{1}$2)$_2$-(E$_{1}$2)$_1$ for two-step electrochemical charge transfers. In addition, a simple amplitude was derived far the dependence of the differential pulse response on (E$_{l}$ 2/)$_1$ and (E$_{1}$2/)$_2$. and the use of peak to peak separation in cyclic voltammetry and differential pulse methods was evaluated. A comparison of the comproportionation constants(Ke) from differential pulse and cyclic voltammetry methods exhibited a good agreement within 5%.

Measuring of the dissolved oxygen is widely used for the environmental control of natural waters, sewage waste treatment, medical and biochemical studies, soil husbandry, food and drug process control, and prevention of corrosion in boilers. Especially, a power plants need special management for preventing accidents from corrosion, therefore, it is essential to measure the concentration of dissolved oxygen in real-time. In this paper we present a method of measuring dissolved oxygen very accurately up to ppb units. This method, called polarographic method, is based on the measures of the electric current generated by the oxidation process in cathode and de-oxidation process in anode, assuming that the amount of the current is proportional to the density of dissolved oxygen.
The redox properties of 2-amino-1-cyclopentene-1-dithiocarboxylate anion (acdc) and its oxovanadium complex, $VO(acdc)_2$ have been investigated in dimethylformamide (DMF) with polarography and cyclic voltammetry. Bis(2-amino-1-cyclopentene-1-dithiocarboxylate) oxovanadium(IV) exhibits two polarographic oxidation waves and two reduction waves in the potential range from +0.50V to - 2.4V vs. the Ag/AgCl (DMF) reference electrode. The second oxidation wave appeared at - 0.08V is found to be reversible and is attributed to the formation of $VO(acdc)_2\;^+$. The first reduction process (at - 0.60V) is also reversible and this reduction process is caused by the electrode process of formation of $VO(acdc)_2$-species. The half wave potential for the reduction, V(IV)$\to$V(III) is more positive for oxovanadium complexes containing sulfur donor atoms than other VO(IV) complexes having oxygen or nitrogen donor atoms.
Remarks on polyphenolic compounds has been arisen since past few years. the flavonoids appears to be the important groups of compounds with their capability to inhibit DNA damage, lipid peroxidation, to quench free radicals and, at least, anticarcinogenic and antiproliferative effects. On the other hand, their mechanism of action is still unexplained. Apigenin and luteolin are the most wide-spread flavones and they exhibited to be useful in chemoprevention. UV spectrometric and DC polarographic studies on these two compounds have been carried out with regard to changing pH. The most significant changes were observed at basic pH. These results could aid to elucidation of their mechanism of action as pH is one of the important factors for bioprocesses passing in living organisms.
The electrochemical behaviors of 4-(2)-thiazolylazo)-resorcinol (TAR) in acetonitrile solution was studied by DC polarography, cyclic voltammetry, controlled-potential coulometry and UV-Vis spectroscopy. The electrochemical reduction of TAR occurs in four-one electron reduction steps in acetonitrile solution. The products of the first and the third electron transfer are speculated to be a relatively stable anion radical. The second electron transfer to the dianion is followed by a chemical reaction producing a protonated species. The product of the fourth electron transfer also produces the corresponding amine compounds with a following reaction. Also every reduction wave was diffusion controlled. The first reduction wave is considerably reversible and the other waves are less reversible.
Electrochemical behaviors of optically active sparteine-Cu(II) dihalide complexes were investigated by polarography and cyclic voltammetry (CV). These Cu(II) complexes are rather easier to be reduced to Cu(I) states when comparison is made with other nonplaner copper complexes, We have assigned the CV peaks and polarographic waves related to the redox processes for these complexes. We could also observe the exchange reaction of Cu(II) ion in the complex with mercury metal in the cell having mercury pool. The redox mechanism of these complelxes is as follows; The 1st wave appeared at +0.47 V/+0.65 V corresponds to the reaction of $SpCuX_2+ e{\rightleftarrow}SpCuX_{2^-}$ and the 2nd one at +0.26 V/+0.21 V does the reaction of $SpCuX_{2 ^-} +e{\rightleftarrow}SpCuX_2^{2-}$. The 3rd one at -0.35 V/-0.27 V is dueto the reduction of mercury complex formed via exchange reaction. Where, X is chloride ion.
The macroscopic and microscopic redox potentials of tetrahemoprotein, cytochrome c3 from Desulfovibrio vulgaris(Hildenborough) (DvH) were estimated from 1H NMR and differential pulse polarography(DPP). Five sets of NMR resonances were confirmed by a redox titration. They represent cytochrome c3 molecules in five macroscopic redox states. The electron transfer in cytochrome c3 involves four consecutive one-electron steps. The saturation transfer method was used to determine the chemical shifts of eight heme methyl resonances in five different oxidation states. Thirty two microscopic redox potentials were estimated. The results showed the presence of a strong positive interaction between a pair of particular hemes. Comparing the results with those of Desulfovibrio vulgaris Miyazaki F (DvMF), it was observed that the two proteins resemble each other in overall redox pattern, but there is small difference in the relative redox potentials of four hemes.
Purpose: Thallous-201 chloride produced at Korea Cancer Center Hospital(KCCH) is used in detecting cardiovascular disease and cancer. Thallium impurity can cause emesis, catharsis and nausea, so the presence of thallium and other metal impurities should be determined. According to USP and KP, their amounts must be less than 2 ppm in thallium and 5 ppm in total. In this study, the detection method of trace amounts of metal impurities in $[^{201}Tl]$TICI injection with polarography was optimized without environmental contamination. Materials and Methods: For the detection of metal impurities, Osteryoung Square Wave Stripping Voltammetry method was used in Bio-Analytical System (BAS) 50W polarograph. The voltammetry was composed of Dropping Mercury Electrode (DME) as a working electrode, Ag/AgCl as a reference electrode and Pt wire as a counter electrode. Square wave stripping method, which makes use of formation and deformation of amalgam, was adopted to determine the metal impurities, and pH 7 phosphate buffer was used as supporting electrolyte. Results: Tl, Cu and Pb in thallous-201 chloride solution were detected by scanning from 300 mV to -800 mV Calibration curves were made by using $TINO_3,\;CuSO_4\;and\;Pb(NO_3){_2}$ as standard solutions. Tl was confirmed at -450 mV peak potential and Cu at -50 mV Less than 2 ppm of Tl and Cu was detected and Pb was not detected in KCCH-produced thallous-201 chloride injection. Conclusion: Detection limit of thallium and copper is approximately 50 ppb with this method. As a result of this experiment, thallium and other metal impurities in thallous-201 chloride injection, produced at Korea Cancer Center Hospital, are in the regulation of USP and KP Polarograph could be applied for the determination of metal impurities in the quality control of radiopharmaceuticals conveniently without environmental contamination.

The electrochemical behavior of 2-Amino-1-cyclopentene-1-dithiocarboxylate (acdc) was investigated by the use of polarography, cyclic voltammetry and cathodic stripping voltammetry at glassy carbon electrode. In this study, it was found that the dimer of the acdc was deposited on the glassy carbon electrode via one-electron oxidation process at +0.25V vs. SCE. The ring formation between two dithio group occurs along with the elimination of one sulfur atom. The elimination of sulfur atom occurs via two electron oxidation process at +0.8V vs. SCE. The most sensitive cathodic stripping peak due to the formation of the dimer was observed at -0.85V vs. SCE. The peak relationship between current and concentration was fairly linear in the range of 3${\times}10^{-5}{\sim}1.0{\times}10^{-6}$M. The preconcentration procedure enhanced the sensitivity about 100 times for the analysis of acdc using diffusion current. Detection limit was found to be $2.5{\times}10^{-7}$M and relative standard deviation was ${\pm}$4.1 % at $5.0{\times}10^{-6}$M DC polarography.
Chloramphenicol was studied by differential pulse polarography (DDP). A reduction peak which is dependent on pH of the solution appeared in the voltage range between zero and -1.50 volt vs. Ag/AgCl (sat. KCl) reference electrode. A plot of peak potentials (Ep) measured at room temperature (20$^{\circ}C$) vs. pH of the chloramphenicol solutions showed linear relationship changing slope (Ep/pH) at pH 8.9. The slope was -59.7 mV/pH in pH 2.7∼8.9 and -24.3 mV/pH in pH 8.9∼11.2, respectively. A log plot of peak currents (ip) vs. concentrations showed a linearity at the concentrations between 4.8 ${\times}$ 10$^{-7}$ M and 6.2 ${\times}$ 10$^{-5}$ M (0.16 ppm∼20 ppm) chloramphenicol in pH 8.0 ammonium buffer. Between the DPP method and the reference method measuring absorbance at 278 nm, the correlation coefficient was 0.996, which means an excellent linearity. The DPP method was able to detect degradation products of chloramphenicol in mild alkaline solution (pH = 8.0) more distinctly than the spectrophotometric method.
