  • The purpose of this research is to determine elements affecting the out-of-pocket cost of woman. The sample consisted of 1907 women living Iksan city. The survey was conducted by means of questionnaires. The model used in the analysis of out-of-pocket cost was the Andersen-Newman model, while the analysis techniques used were stepwise multiple regression and path analysis. The number of independent variables used in the analysis was 28 in total, ie 19 predisposing components, 6 enabling components, and 3 need components. In this study, the amount of variance by the model was 17 percent. Number of restricted activity days caused by oral disease, perceived susceptibility of dental disease, having a regular dental care, dental treatment costs, education level and income were found to have significant major effects on out-of-pocket cost. Number of restricted activity days caused by oral disease was the most important variable affecting out-of-pocket cost of woman. Also out-of-pocket cost shows larger effect due to enabling components than frequency of dental utilization.

  • This study is to investigate patient's choice of health care and the demand for Korean traditional medicine care in rural areas in 1995. It tried to evaluate the effect of out-of-pocket expenditure, travel time, and waiting time on improving care-seeking and substituting clinical medicine for pharmacy care and Korean traditional medicine care in rural areas. The statistical model of this study is conditional logit to estimate effects of choice-specific and individual-specific characteristics on the choice of type of services. This study used, as explanatory variables, average out-of-pocket payment, travel time, and waiting time of services required to use the services. The model was empirically tested using data from 1995 Korean National Health Survery. The results showed that rural Koreans responded to out-of pocket payment and travel time. Increases of out-of-pocket payment and travel time decreased the probability to choose care in rural Korea. Rural Koreans were more likely to seek care than others with low out-of-pocket payment and travel time. The probability of choosing Korean traditional medicine were higher among the members of the households with higher education level and older persons, while they were lower in the households with large family than others compared with the probabilities of choosing public health facilities. The result of this study implies that policy on use of health care in rural Korea can be focused in managing travel time and out-of-pocket payment.

  • Although the performance of the commercial vessel has been dramatically improved through innovations, there has been no big changes on the traditional anchoring method of commercial vessels, both on design and operation until now. In this paper, two cases of design modifications were introduced for optimized design of pocket type anchor handling, which resulted in improved performance of the vessel's anchoring. From the first time fully balanced type anchors were applied on vessels in Korean shipyard, main design problem on this application was that the anchor doesn't normally slide into the pocket when the anchor fluke is not in line with pocket, as the anchor freely rotates by the swivel on forerunner. In order to prevent the problem, swivel has been deleted on the forerunner to prevent anchor rotation until now, but this solution caused problems such as twist lock of anchor chain, restriction of windlass direction, etc. On this paper, one of the solution is introduced to overcome the design problem by tilting the hawse pipe to some extent, which makes anchor turned at the time anchor ring touches the pocket skirt and that it properly slides into the pocket. Secondly, one of the solution is introduced to overcome misalignment problem between anchor chain cable and roller of chain compressor, which has been frequently occurred, by modification of roller design.

  • Metal stamping is widely used in the mass-production process of the automobile. During the stamping process, air may be trapped between the draw die and the panel and/or between the punch and the panel. Air pocket rapidly not only increases forming load in the final stage, but also deforms the product just formed by compressive air inside the air pocket in knockout process. To prevent these problems air bent holes are drilled in the die to exhaust the trapped air but all processes associated with air bent holes are performed by empirical know-how of workers in the field due to lack of researches. Therefore this study developed an automated design system for predicting the shape and position, and volume of air pocket on the draw die by using the AutoLISP language under AutoCAD circumstance. The system is able to display the shape of air pocket occurred in the draw die and to calculate automatically its volume by strokes. So it makes a stepping stone to calculate theoretical size of an air bent hole and numbers according to it by predicting and analyzing the position and volume of air pocket. Results obtained from the system enable the designers or manufacturers of the stamping die to be more efficient in this field.

  • Protein molecules are combined with another ones which have similar shapes at pocket positions. The pocket positions can be good references to describe the shapes of protein molecules. Harris corner detector is commonly used to detect feature points of 2 or 3D objects. Feature points can be found on the pocket areas and the points which have high derivatives. Generally speaking, the densities of feature points are relatively high at pocket areas because the shapes of pockets are concave. The pocket areas can be decided by the subdivision of voxel cubes which include feature points. The Euclidean distances between feature points and the central coordinate of the decided pocket area are calculated and sorted. The graph of sorted distances describes the shape of a protein molecule and the distribution of feature points. Therefore, it can be used to classify protein molecules by their shapes. Even though the shapes of protein molecules have been distorted with noises, they can be recognized with the accuracy more than 95 %. The accurate shape recognition provides the information to predict the binding properties of protein molecules.

  • Background: The purpose of this study is to investigate family caregivers' opinions about out-of-pocket payment for long-term care (LTC) facilities, and find the differences in the opinions for family caregivers of all different levels of income. Methods: We used the data of the study on out-of-pocket payment in national long-term care insurance, including 1,552 family caregivers with the elderly in long-term care facilities. Results: The average out-of-pocket payment per month was 511,635 Korean won and distributed from 230,750 to 1,365,570 Korean won. The amount of out-of-pocket payment might be affected by not co-payment but the cost of non-covered service. There were differences in them for family caregivers of all different levels of income. Opinions were surveyed about 5 issues. By levels of income, there were differences in their opinions about 3 issues, the financial burden on LTC, the necessity of reducing out-of-pocket payments, and to be willing to pay more for a high quality service. But there were not different opinions about the interruption of LTC service and staying with LTC facilities. Conclusion: These findings suggest that the range of out-of-pocket payment for LTC facility is wide and it can be a burden to lower income group. It should be to prepare the policies to ease the financial burden and support the appropriate LTC use.

  • The purpose of this study is to evaluate the combination of suit details through visual evaluation which helps compensating middle aged womens body defects for their more attractive fashion styles. In this study, styles of the evaluated suits are formal and classical. The designs of evaluated suits are manipulated in 40 different kinds by the essential elements such as collars, necklines(tailored collars, soutien collars, stand collars, round necklines, V-necklines), bottoms(slacks, skirts), pocket(flap pocket, none) and opening(opened, closed). The data evaluated by a multiple ranking test were analyzed by mean, paired t-test, ANOVA and Duncans multiple raged test. The results are summarized as follows: 1) The classic style suits-middle aged womans body construct looks better when she is wearing it with the combination of suit details; opened tailored collar jacket with flap pocket or non-pocket, opened stand collar jacket with non-pocket, closed soutien collar and round neckline jacket with non-pocket, closed V-neckline jacket with flap pocket or non-pocket on slacks. 2) The middle aged woman wearing slacks looks smaller in upper body, longer in lower part of her body and taller as a whole than when wearing a skirt suit. And Opened jacket makes a middle aged woman be seen with less appeared abdomen than that on closed jacket. The stand calar and round neckline jacket with non-flap pockets makes her look smaller in upper body and hip. 3) With tailored, soutien, stand collar jacket, it looks slimmer in a neck, narrower in shoulder, smaller in upper body, and taller than on a round neckline and V-neckline jacket.

  • Background : The introduction of policies expanding the coverage of uninsured Korean Medicine (KM) services have requires an understanding of the following components of the service : current financial expenses, degree of financial burden on the patient, and financial effect of the coverage expansion. Objectives : This study aims to determine the annual trend of outpatients' characteristics and the category of out-of-pocket spending in KM. Methods : This study uses data from the Korea Health Panel to analyze use of KM in the Korean population. Using the user characteristics and behavior drawn from the Korea Health Panel data, out-of-pocket spending trends of KM were analyzed by year. The diagnosis and prescription of out-of-pocket spending were also analyzed. Results : The proportion of patients receiving uninsured medical treatment and the number of uninsured medical treatment in outpatient clinics have increased. However, the average out-of-pocket spending per person and out-of-pocket spending per visit are consistent or have decreased. Meaningful trends are the increase of R00-R99 (unclassified symptoms) and the decrease of K00-K93 (digestive system disease) and J00-J99 (respiratory system disease). Conclusions : Expansion of KM medical service and insurance is influenced by uninsured medical treatment of KM. Hence, research to increase medical treatment categories for out-of-pocket spending or explore diseases where KM diagnosis has been proven effective should be further developed.

  • Pocket machining is metal removal operation commonly used for creating depressions in machined parts. Numerically controlled milling is the primary means for machining complex die surface. These complex surfaces are generated by a milling cutter which removes material as it traces out pre-specified tool paths. To machine, a component on a CNC machine, part programs which define the cutting tool path are needed. This tool path is usually planned from CAD, and converted to a CAM machine input format. In this paper I proposed a new method for generating NC tool paths. This method generates automatically NC tool paths with dynamic elimination of machining errors in 2$\frac{1}{2}$ arbitrary shaped pockets. This paper generates a spiral-like tool path by dynamic computing optimal pocket of the pocket boundary contour based on the type and size of the milling cutter, the geometry of the pocket contour and surface finish tolerance requirements. This part programming system is PC based and simultaneously generates a G-code file.
