  • The Study investigated economic effects and the conditions in the public Shipping e-marketplace. For efficient operation of the public Shipping e-marketplace, this study analyzed how do the participation and community actualize in the public Shipping e-marketplace actualize. According to the research results of the Shipping Cooperations, For Promoting participation in the public Shipping e-marketplace, the Cyber-intermediary operating public Shipping e-marketplace provides timely shipping information, needs publicity strategy generating more benefits than offline transaction, and gives a conviction of the searching costs and transaction costs decrease. Second For promoting community, the Cyber-intermediary must playa major role in electronic community and drive forward continuous publicity strategy in the public Shipping e-marketplace.

연안운송의 활성화를 위한 연계체계 구축방안에 관한 연구 (Developing Sea-Ground Cargo Linkages for Facilitating Coastal Transportations)

  • The efficiency and effectiveness of freight transportation within and across Northeast Asia playa key role to achieve competitive advantages against other competing hubs in this area. However, the majority of local freight has been carried by ground transportation and the share of costal shipping has been decreasing for its transportational complexity and poor cargo works. In this paper, we discuss the prerequisites of efficient cargo linkage system from the perspectives of road, rail, ocean, and the service providers. Specifically, we identify that the balanced capacity of road/rail transportation system with costal freight system is a crucial component for facilitating coastal shipping. Other requirements such as the efficient on-dock container yard (ODCY), dedicated ports and ships, and the service provider of door-to-door transportation for short sea shipping are highlighted in order to secure the serviceability and availability of streamlined costal shipping. Further, we elaborate these requirements to facilitate costal cargo shipping in Korea.

능동판토그래프의 저차제어기 설계 (A Low-Order Controller Design of Active Pantograph System)

  • This paper presents the design method of low order controller for the active pantograph of electric train system. The pantograph is the most playa role to supply constant current to the train. The design objectives are to have good tracking performance about reference contact force despite the stiffness variation that is like sinusoidal function concerned in train speed or span length of contact wire. In this paper, we consider stiffness variation from external disturbance of active pantograph to simplify model equation, and propose simple second-order controller which is designed by Characteristic ratio assignment(CRA) control method. Finally, we verify time response appling to model equation of real system and frequency response about parameter uncertainty like stiffness variation. it is performed by Matlab version 6.5 and Matlab simulink simulation.

Hypocholesterolemic Activity of Bifidobacteria Isolated from a Healthy Korean

  • This study was undertaken to investigate the hypocholesterolemic activity of Bifidobacteria (B. breve K-110, B. breve K-111, and B. infantis K-525) isolated from a healthy Korean. The administration of B. breve K-110 and K-111 with a high cholesterol diet significantly protected the increase of serum total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol relative to that of a high cholesterol diet alone. Such a diet supplemented with 0.5% B. breve K-111 decreased serum total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol to 57 and 55%, respectively. The administration of Bifidobacteria also significantly inhibited the lipid-deposited surface in the aorta. The normalizing activity of serum cholesterol level in cholesterolemic rats was accelerated by Bifidobacteria. The normalizing activity of B. breve K-111 on serum cholesterol level was superior to that of B. breve K-110. These results suggest that Bifidobacteria in the human intestine playa role in the prophylactics of arteriosclerosis.

Efficient Immobilization of Polysaccharide Derivatives as Chiral Stationary Phases via Copolymerization with Vinyl Monomers

  • The direct chromatographic separation of enantiomers by chiral stationary phases (CSPs) has been extensively developed over the past two decades, and has now become the most popular method for the analytical and preparative separations of enantiomers. Polysaccharide derivatives coated onto silica gel, as CSPs, playa significantly important role in the enantioseparations of a wide range of chiral compounds using high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). Unfortunately, the strict solvent limitation of the mobile phases is the main defect in the method developments of these types of coated CSPs. Therefore, the immobilization of polysaccharide derivatives onto silica gel, via chemical bonding, to obtain a new generation of CSPs compatible with the universal solvents used in HPLC is increasingly important. In this article, our recent studies on the immobilization of polysaccharide derivatives onto the silica gel, as CSPs, through radical copolymerization with various vinyl monomers are reported. Polysaccharide derivatives, with low vinyl content, can be efficiently fixed onto silica gel with high chiral recognition.

  • The physical properties of food playa significant role in the modeling and computation of the heat and mass transfers in basic food processing operations. With the advent of improved analytical techniques, statistical experiment design applications, computing ability and knowledge of the food physical properties of food, there have been significant advances in our ability to predict the impact of processing on the physical properties of food. This article briefly reviews our current ability to predict the influence of processing on the physical properties of food, such as water activity, moisture, color, and rheological characteristics.

Photochromism of Phytochromes and Cph1 Requires Critical Amino Acids and Secondary Structure in the N-Terminal Domain

  • The light perception and phototransformation of phytochromes are the first process of the phytochrome-mediated light signal transduction. The chromophore ligation and its photochromism of various site-specific and deletion mutants of pea phytochrome A and bacterial phytochrome-like protein (Cph1) were analyzed in vitro. Serial truncation mutants from the N-terminus and C-terminus indicated that the minimal N-terminal domain for the chromophore ligation spans from the residue 78 to 399 of pea phytochrome A. Site-specific mutants indicated that several residues are critical for the chromophore ligation and/or photochromism. Histidine-324 appears to serve as an anchimeric residue for photochromism through its H-bonding function. Isoleucine-80 and arginine-383 playa critical role for the chromophore ligation and photochromism. Arginine-383 is presumably involved in the stabilization of the Pfr form of pea phytochrome A. Apparently, the amphiphilic ${\alpha}$-helix centered around the residue-391 is in the chromophore pocket and critical for the chromophore ligation.

  • The Na$^{+}$-Ca$^{2+}$ exchanger (NCX) is known to playa critical role in the regulation of intracellular $Ca^{2+}$ in many tissues and cells. Three isoforms have been cloned (NCXl, NCX2, NCX3). Among the isoforms, NCX2 and NCX3 are expressed at high levels in brain and in a few other tissues. But the differential properties of the isoforms are not yet clearly established.(omitted)

  • In this paper, we developed the care system for older people living alone using the RFID technologies and the living informations. The care system store living informations, extracted through a unconstrained detection method by the RFID tags and readers, into a monitering server. The unconstrained detection method improved a weakness of existing systems that detected a living informations through an infrared sensor, ultrasonic sensor, camera, consumed quantity of the tap water or gas. The result of this study will playa very important role, as a part of a composite older-welfare services. Also, in the future, accumulated living informations will be allowed for a health data of older peoples.

Interdecadal Variation of Wintertime Blocking Frequency over the Siberia

  • The interdecadal variation of wintertime blocking frequency over the Siberia ($60^{\circ}E-140^{\circ}E$) is examined using the ECMWF/NCEP-NCAR re-analysis data for the period 1958-2006. The wintertime blocking frequency over the Siberia significantly decreased for the period 1986-2006, compared to the period 1958-1985, which is mainly due to the anomalous circulation of 500-hPa geopotential height field. During the period 1986-2006, there was enhancement in both the anomalous cyclonic flow over the western Siberia and the anomalous anticyclonic flow over the east Asia. These anomalous circulation patterns, which might be associated with changes in surface temperatures over the Asian continent, are suspected to playa possibly important role as an obstacle to the formation of blocking flow over the Siberia.
