The Effect of Cement Mixture on Plastic Shrinkage of Concrete (시멘트 배합량이 콘크리트의 소성수축에 미치는 영향)

  • The objective of this study is to investigate the characteristics of the concrete mixture and the plastic shrinkage of concrete exposed to a rapid evaporation immediately after placement, and to measure the shringkage rate according to the cement-mixture. Drying of concrete was conducted under a controlled chamber in which the temperature was 36${\pm}$2$^{\circ}C$, the relative humidity 45${\pm}$2%, and the wind velocity 4${\pm}$1m/sec. All of the concrete mo1ds were made to have good workability as 6${\pm}$0.5cm in slump. The results obtained are as follows; 1) The evaporation rate was 3.36kg/$\textrm{km}^2$, 2.98kg/$\textrm{km}^2$ and 2.91kg/$\textrm{km}^2$ respectively for each concretemixtures 365kg, 335kg and 317kg after 5 hour exposure, and the evaporation was measured at all 55∼57% after 2 hours and additional in 10% on after 5 hours exposure. 2) The weight of the concrete were was reduced to 3.0%, 2.6% and 2.4% respectively for each of them. 3) The shrinkage of concrete was 0.87 mm/m, 0.56mm/m and 0.31 mm/m after 5 hour exposure, and the shringkage of concrete was measured at 84%, 59% and 45% after 2 hours and it in 1∼5% after 5 hour exposure and then stopped. 4) A recommendation for good concrete is that the evaporation should be minimized during 2 hours after placement of concrete, if possible.

  • Microcellular foaming process was developed at MIT in 1980's to save a quantity of raw materials and improve mechanical properties. There are many process variables in appling microcellular foaming process to the conventional injection molding process. Of all process variables, part dimension control and shrinkage are the most influential on the post molded dimension. The post molding dimensional change of thermoplastic resins is important to tool designers for predicting the specific difference of molded part vs. actual mold cavity. Generally, articles injection molded are smaller in size than the cavity; hence, the term shrinkage factor is used to define the allowance a designer specifies. It is important to consider the factors that influence molded part dimension. According to ASTM Designation: D 955, shrinkage from mold dimensions of molded plastics was measured. In injection molding, the difference between the dimensions of the mold and of the molded article produced therein from a given material may vary according to the design and operation of the mold. In this paper, shrinkage data of molded plastic parts was obtained. It can be an important information for designing optimum mold system in a microcellular foaming injection molding process.

A Study on the Plastic Shrinkage Properties of Cement Mortars (시멘트 모르터의 소성수축 특성에 관한 연구)

  • 시멘트 모르터의 소성수축에 의한 균열을 방지하기 위해 소성수축 특성에 관한 연구를 수행하였다. 우리나라 봄철의 대표적인 기후인 온도 20$\pm$3$^{\circ}C$, 상대습도 55%, 풍속 3.5m/s의 기후조건으로 하였으며, 모르터의 물 시멘트 비, 시멘트 골재 비, 팽창재 사용, 플라이 애쉬 치환, 수분증발을 억제하기 위한 중점제 등을 사용하여 소성수축의 특성을 검토하였다. 연구 결과 소성수축 변형은 응결시간과 밀접한 관계가 있으며 응결시간이 빠를수록 변형은 크게 나타났다. 또한 물시멘트 비에 의해서도 소성수축 변형은 큰 것으로 나타났다. 모르터에서의 골재 비율이 작거나, 플라이 애쉬의 치환율이 클수록 소성수축 변형은 매우 크게 나타났다. 중점제의 사용은 소성수축 변형을 줄이는데 효과가 있었으며, 건조수축 보상용 팽창재의 사용은 소성수축 변형율을 크게 하는데 이는 ettringite 생성에 의한 물 시멘트 비의 감소효과를 가져오기 때문이다.

  • The intention of this study is to reduce the plastic shrinkage of the polymer modified cement mortar using the PVA fiber. The durability of PVA fiber reinforced polymer cement mortar was also evaluated. The test results of PVA fiber reinforced polymer modified cement mortar were compared with plain polymer modified cement mortar(non-fiber). In conclusion, PVA fiber reinforced polymer modified cement mortar showed an ability to reduce the total crack area and maximum crack width significantly. Also. fiber reinforced polymer modified cement mortar show improved durability performance.

  • The effects of substituting cement with fly ash(10%, 15%, 20%) and different fiber addition(polypropylene, cellulose, poly vinyl alcohol), on the control of microcrack and enhanced durability performance of face slab concrete in CFRD was studied experimentally It was conducted experiments of plastic shrinkage of mortar and concrete, and drying shrinkage of concrete. Also, durability test were carried out the chloride permeability, abrasion resistance and freeze-thaw repetition. Through the experimental results, it was concluded that ploy vinyl alcohol fiber containing concrete was the most effective mixture in control of cracking and durability.

  • The use of polypropylene fibers in concrete has been widely advertised by the fiber manufacturers. However, the behavior of concrete containing plastic fibers has not been fully understood. The effects of fiber on concrete have been forcused on shrinkage crack control mainly from field observation, and the mechanism and the side effect of fiber such as workability reduction have been neglicted. In this paper, the effect of fiber on workability and shrinkage properties have been studied. The addition of fiber significantly reduce workability and requires additional water to maintain the workability, which causes adversal effects on concrete properties.

  • Recently, plastic screws have replaced metal screws because of the former's light weight, thermal and electrical insulating properties, and anticorrosion characteristics. Plastic screws are usually produced by injection molding, which involves material shrinkage during the solidification of the polymer. This shrinkage results in the degeneration of the dimensional accuracy. In the present study, the effect of injection-molding conditions on the dimensional accuracy of plastic screws was investigated through a numerical simulation of injection molding; on the basis of this simulation, we could determine the mold-design parameters. The design of experiment was applied in accordance with the numerical analysis in order to optimize the injection-molding conditions with a view to improving the dimensional accuracy of the precision plastic screw.

  • In Concrete, shrinkages occur like plastic shrinkage and drying shrinkage in the early age because of evaporation and transfer of moisture. Within the country, the crack test standardized by KS is used to test the drying shrinkage of the concrete by using the restricted drying shrinkage of Dumbbell type mold, but this test is for the cracking-point and the restricted shrinkage stress. Thus it is difficult to valuate the crack quantitative test. In this study, it is intended to develop the Flat-ring type restrained test method for the shrinkage deformation movement of the concrete and to provide the quantitative data for evaluating the cracks in concrete. And it suggest the proper specimen diameter and quantitative test method about shrinkage crack properties on Flat-ring type restrained test method. And Verified the suitability.

  • In the injection molding of plastic optical lenses, the molding conditions have critical effects on the quality of the molded lenses. Since there are many molding parameters involved in injection molding process, determination of the molding conditions for lens molding is very important in order to precisely control the surface contours of an optical lens. Therefore this paper presents the application of neural network in suggesting the optimized molding conditions for improving the quality of molded parts based on data of FE Analysis carried out through CAE software, Timon-3D. Suggested model in this paper, which serves to learn from the data of FE Analysis and induce the values for optimized molding conditions. has been implemented for searching the molding conditions without void and with minimized thickness shrinkage at lens center of injection molding optical lens. As the result of this study. we have confirmed that void creation at the inside of lens is primarily determined by mold temperature and thickness shrinkage at center of lens is primarily determined by the parameters such as holding pressure and mold temperature.

Effects of mold temperature on the part dimension and surface quality of the injection molded cavity filter (금형온도가 Cavity Filter 성형품의 치수 및 외관품질에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구)

  • In this study, we developed the mold for the plastic cavity filter which is a kind of a wireless communication device. Since the cavity filter is made of aluminium, the cost of fabrication is high and the production rate is low. But we can produce plastic cavity filter part by injection molding process with the mold which was designed by our team. The dimension and surface quality of plastic cavity filter was investigated by varying the molding method (conventional and MmSH process) and two different types of resin(PC/ABS and ABS). In case of ABS part, the shrinkage of the inner partition walls was decreased when we adopted MmSH method. The weight of both ABS and PC/ABS parts increased and the surface roughness decreased with MmSH process.
