Effect of Cypermethrin and Piperonyl Butoxide on Toxic Response in Rats (Cypermethrin과 Piperonyl butoxide가 rat의 독성반응에 미치는 영향)

  • The aim of this experiment is to observe the toxicity of cypermethrin[S, R- -cyano-3-phenoxybenzyl-(1R, 1s, cis, trans)-2,2-dimethyl-3-(2,2-dichlorovinyl) cyclopropane carboxylate]and to investigate the synergistic effect of piperonyl butoxide on the cypermethrin toxicity. In cypermethrin (CYP) treated group, the biochemical parameters such as ALT, LDH, glucose in serum were remarkably elevated. The content of cytochrome P-450 and activity of NADPH-cytochrome c reductase in renal microsomal fraction were increased but those in hepatic microsomal fraction were not significantly increased. The activity of aniline hydroxylase and ATPase in liver were decreased. In the case of CYP plus piperonyl butoxide (PB) treated group, AST, ALT, LDH and glucose were more increased. Cytochrome P-450 and NADPH-cytochrome c reductase in liver and kidney were supressed and aniline hydroxylase and ATPase in liver were more decreased. Especially, in the case of CYP plus PB 100 mg/kg treated group, hepatic TBA value was increased but activity of glucose-6-phosphatase was remarkably depressed.

Effects of Primisulfuron and Imazethapyr Treated with Piperonyl Butoxide on Growth and Acetolactate Synthase Activity in Several Corn Cultivars (Primisulfuron, Imazethapyr와 Piperonyl Butoxide의 혼합처리(混合處理)가 옥수수의 생장(生長) 및 ALS산소(酸素) 활성(活性)에 미치는 영향(影響))

  • The combined effects of primisulfuron and imazethapyr treated with piperonyl butoxide(PBO) on growth inhibition and acetolactate synthase(ALS) activity in corn were studied to identify the tolerance mechanism among corn cultivars. Pioneer 3751 IR showed resistance to primisulfuron and imazethapyr, but Pioneer 3751 and Chalok 2 were susceptible to them. Pioneer 3751 IR was tolerant to primisulfuron regardless of PBO treatment, but Pioneer 3751, Suwon 118 and Chalok 2 were more greatly inhibited by combined treatment of primisulfuron with PBO. Synergistic effect on growth inhibition in Pioneer 3751 IR, Pioneer 3751, Suwon 118 and Chalok 2 was not occurred when imazethapyr was treated with PBO, but Pioneer 3751, Suwon 118 and Chalok 2 tended to inhibit by combined treatment of imazethapyr with PBO. Pioneer 3751 IR showed higher ALS activity than Pioneer 3751 when primisulfuron or imazethapyr was treated. ALS activity was inhibited by primisulfuron at $0.01{\mu}M$ or above and imazethapyr at $1{\mu}M$ or above, and inhibitory effect on ALS activity was observed by primisufuron and imazethapyr treatments with PBO.

  • In vitro metabolism study of ${\alpha}$-endosulfan by liver and kidney microsomal cytochrome P-450 monooxygenase system of the mouse(Balb/C) was performed. ${\alpha}$-Endosulfan was metabolized to endosulfan lactone(EL), endosulfan hydroxyether(EHE), endosulfan alcohol(EA), endosulfan sulfate(ES), endosulfan ether(EE) and ${\beta}$-endosulfan(${\beta}$-E). The main metabolites of ${\alpha}$-endosulfan were EL(13.2%) and EA(11.5%) in liver microsome and EA(17.4%) md EHE(19.3%) in kidney microsome. The $^{14}C$-activity of organic extractable fraction and water soluble fraction were 63.4% and 31.7% in liver micosome incubates respectively. The water soluble metabolites were EA(83.9%), EHE(4.5%) and ES(2.3). Piperonyl butoxide treatment inhibited the formation of EE by 86%, EA by 92% and EHE, EL and ES were barely formed.

Synergism of Several Synergists of Antii-Juvenile Hormone Analog, 7-Ethoxy Precocene II to Milkweed Bug Oncopeltus fasciatus Dallas (7-Ethoxy precocene II 항유약호르몬유사물에 대한 몇가지 협력제의 Oncopeltus fasciatus Dallas에 있어서 협력작용)

  • The second instar milkweed bugs, Oncopeltus fasciatus were exposed to the residue of 6-methoxy-7-ethoxy-2, 2- dimethylchromene(or 7-ethoxy precocene 11, 7-EP-11) with one, two, or four different kinds of synergist(s) deposited as a residue on 9 cm diameter petri dishes. The anti juvenile hormone analog, 7-EP-I1 yielded a 50% effectiveness concentration at 1.18 wg/cmZ. The concentration of 7-EP-I1 and R020-9747 combined gave 0.084 ~*g/cm', as much 14 times more potent than with 7-EP-I1 alone. Most of the other synergists, including geraniol, 4-chalcone oxide, isosafrole, and piperonyl butoxide however, showed comparatively low level synergism with 1.0-4.3 times, depending upon the combinations of the synergist(s). The obtained results were considered that R020-9747, an analog of benzopyran with similar structure to that of 7-EP-I1 inhibited selectively the insect monooxygenase oxidative defense mechanism, in the body except for corpora allata because general antioxidants of piperonyl butoxide, isosafrole, and 4-phenyl chalcone oxide showed relatively mild synergism.

On the Extension of Insecticidal Activity and the Preparation of New Mixture with Diazinon (농약의 약효증진을 위한 첨가제 효과에 관하여;Diazinon제를 중심으로)

  • In this paper, we reviewed the degradation factors of diazinon which was known to be easily degraded by soil microorganisms and lost of its activity. Under submerged soil condition, the contribution of microorganisms to diazinon degradation was about 40% and these microorganisms preferred soil humus as substrates to diazinon itself. The effect of monooxygenase activity in submerged soil was more important than esterase activity on diazinon degradation and these enzymes were inhibited by several chemicals such as piperonyl butoxide(PBO), EPN and tricyclazole. From these results, new formulation type of diazinon (PBO and triphenyl phosphate were added to commercial diazinon formulation by 0.1% respectively.) and diazinon mixture formulation (diazinon was mixed with EPN, tricyclazole and carbofuran in equal amount) were prepared. The new formulation type of diazinon showed better insecticidal activity by 12% and more delayed diazinon degradation in ten days than commercial diazinon.

Investigation of resistance mechanism for Botrytis cinerea to procymidone (잿빛곰팡이병균(Botrytis cinerea)의 Procymidone 약제 저항성 요인 구명)

  • This study was carried out to investigate the resistance mechanism by three different kinds of procymidone-resistant and susceptible isolates of Botrytis cinerea which had been collected from green houses. The average resistance level of the resistant strains was 1,000 times higher than that of susceptible ones. Also, it was revealed that the resistance was not originated from components excreted by Botrytis cinerea, based on the result obtained from the treatment with piperonyl butoxide and triphenyl phosphate as an inhibitor of monooxygenase and esterase, respectively. The total lipod content of resistant strains was 1.3 times higher than that of susceptible ones, among fatty acids, palmitic acid, stearic acid, and linoleic and being 3.0, 2.5, and 2.0 times higher, respectinely. Also slight differences in sterol contents and components were observed. The crude chitin content was slightly higher in susceptible strains but contents of N-acetyl glucosamine, a hydrolysate of chitin, were about 2 times higher in resistant ones.

  • After evaluation of presence of nits and/or lice, PARATM aerosol (bioallethrin with piperonyl butoxide) was applied to 97 women and 43 girls, regardless of the results of their infestation, living at 2 separate institutions. Twelve days after the first treatment the second treatment was carried out and the presence of head lice was examined for the evaluation of treatment effect. Among total 140 subjects, 98(70,0%) were nit positive and 85(60.7%) were louse positive. The infestation rates of girls by nit(86.0%) and louse(86.0%) were higher than those of women, nit 62.9% and louse 49.5%(p<0.01). Also the detection rate of lice among nit positive subjects was higher in girls(100%) than in women(78.7%). On the second evaluation 12 days after treatment, 36(97.3%) out of 37 girls and 46(95.8%) out of 48 women were found louse-free. There was no difference in the treatment efficacy between the women and girls.

Resistance Mechanisms of Green Peach Aphid, Myzus persicae (Homoptera: Aphididae), to Imidacloprid (복숭아혹진딧물(Myzus persicae)의 imidacloprid에 대한 저항성 기작)

  • Resistance mechanisms in the green peach aphid (Myzus persicae) resistant to imidacloprid were investigated. Imidacloprid residues on the aphid integuments decreased slowly as time passed with no significant difference between the susceptible and resistant strains. Residue in the aphid body increased in both strains with time elapse, and was slightly more in the susceptible strain. A higher metabolic rate of imidacloprid in the resistant strain can be expected by the fact that more amount of imidacloprid were excreted in the resistant strain than in the susceptible one. The activity of AChE was higher 1.4 times in the resistant strain than in the susceptible one, and imidacloprid did not inhibit AChE at all in both strains. Piperonyl butoxide (PBO) and iprobenfos (IBP) synergized imidacloprid activity. The mixtures of imidacloprid and PBO (1 : 1 and 1 : 5) caused 69.4- and 250-fold increase of imidacloprid toxicity against the aphid. Insecticide toxicity of the mixtures of IBP and imidacloprid (1 : 1 and 1 : 5) was also increased 227 and 80.6 times. Esterase activity when $\alpha$-naphtyl butyrate and $\beta$-naphtyl acetate were used as substrates was higher in the resistance strain than in the susceptible one. This means that P450 monooxygenase and esterase are responsible for the resistance to imidacloprid in this aphid strain.

  • Essential oil is a volatile substance obtained by physically obtaining fragrant plant materials made by one single plant and plant species, and is widely used for cosmetics, fragrances, and aroma therapy due to its excellent preservation, sterilization, and antibacterial effects. When essential oil would undergo the extraction and concentration processes, the agricultural chemicals thereof would be extracted and concentrated only to be harmful to the human body. This study analyzes 320 residual agricultural chemicals concentrated in the essential oil, and to this end, LC-MS/MS and GC-MS/MS are used, while the freezing process is applied instead of the conventional refining process hexane, to improve the preprocessing method. As a result of analyzing the essential oil, such ingredients as chlorpyrifos, piperonyl butoxide and silafluofen have been detected in Basil oil and Clove leaf oil. Hence, it is perceived that the residual agricultural chemicals should continue to be monitored for the essential oil.

A Study on the Safety of Residual Pesticides in Cereal Grains and Pulses Agricultural Products Excluding Rice (잡곡 농산물의 잔류농약 안전성 조사)

  • In this study, the pesticide residues in 106 commercial cereal grains were monitored from February to July 2021. For the investigation, 40 domestic and 66 imported products from large, small-to-medium sized offline and online distribution channels, were collected and analyzed by using the multiresidue method for 341 pesticides on GC/ECD, GC/NPD, GC/MSMS, UPLC/PDA, HPLC/FLD, LC/MSMS. Pesticides were detected in total of 8 samples (7.5%), of which one was from big box retailers, two from small and medium-sized distribution stores, and five from online shopping mall. Five (4.7%) samples were found to have pesticide residues greater than the maximum residue limits (MRLs). The detected pesticides in kidney beans (1 case), mung beans (6 cases), and sorghum (1 case), were MGK-264, chlorpyrifos, thiamethoxam, malathion, piperonyl butoxide, and pirimiphos-methyl. Specifically, an excessive amount of thiamethoxam was found from the imported mung bean (5 cases).
