PE 배관의 인장시험 동안 발생한 AE 특성 (AE characteristic of PE pipe under tensile test)

  • Polyethylene pressure pipe has been used with a gas pipe material because of workability and stability etc.. Researches on characteristics of polyethylene pressure pipe are carried out, but there are rare. In this study, the tensile test was performed on polyethylene pipe. From the tensile test, AE signals were detected and estimated in real time. Also, the time-frequency analysis of AE signals was analyzed. From test results, PE pipes were displayed typical stress-strain curves oj semi-crystalline polymer. As result analyzed AE signals, could divide stress-strain curves could be divided into four stages. In the elastic region, signals were not detected. Low amplitude distributions of 30-35dB appeared after yielding, and high amplitude distributions of 30-60dB appeared with increased extension. From the time-frequency analysis of AE signals, the frequency band of 100kHz appeared mainly. Also, the frequency band of 300kHz appeared before the necking phenomenon spreads into the whole region, and the frequency band of 500kHz appeared on extension earlier.

  • In this paper, in order to examine cyclic hehavior characteristics and safety of underground flexible pipes for electric cables subject to cyclic vehicle load, FEM analysis and cyclic soil box test were carried out. As results of the test, it was revealed that the vertical displacement of the test was larger than that of FEM analysis because thermal effect arising from power cables made reduction of rigidity of the pipe so that large deformation of the pipe induced by the heat occured. Moreover, it was shown that the final vertical displacement under about 0.4 million times of the cyclic load test was not satisfied with elastic allowable displacement of the pipe, and long term stability of the pipe was not stable since behavior characteristics of the pipe exists plastic strain range pasted clastic strain range.

  • The energy conversion from the temperature difference between hot and cold source like ocean thermal energy conversion (OTEC), requires a long and large-diameter pipe (about 1000 to 10,000 meters long) to reach the deep water. The pipe diameter ranges from 2.8 meter for proposed early test systems, to 5 meter for large, commercial power generation systems. The pipe must be designed to resist collapsing pressures produced by water temperature and density differences, and the reduced pressure required to induce flow up the pipe. Other design considerations include the external-drag effect on the pipe due to ocean currents, and the wave-induced motions of the platform to which the pipe is attached. Various approaches to the pipe construction have been proposed, including aluminum, steel, concrete, and fiberglass. More recently, a flexible pipe construction involving the use of fiberglass reinforced plastic has been proposed. This report presents the results of a scaled fixed cold water pipe (CWP) model test program performed by EES(Engineering Equation Solver) to demonstrate the feasibility of this pipe approach.

  • In nuclear power plants, ultrasonic test for pipe wall thickness measurement is used during periodic inspections to prevent pipe rupture due to pipe wall thinning. However, when measuring pipe wall thickness using ultrasonic test, a significant amount of measurement error occurs due to the on-site conditions of the nuclear power plant. If the maximum pipe wall thinning rate is decided by the measured pipe wall thickness containing a significant error, the pipe wall thinning rate data have significant uncertainty and systematic overestimation. This study proposes preprocessing of pipe wall thinning measurement data using support vector machine regression algorithm. By using support vector machine, pipe wall thinning measurement data can be smoothened and accordingly uncertainty and systematic overestimation of the estimated pipe wall thinning rate data can be reduced.

  • 본 연구에서 적용한 발사체용 산화제 터널형 배관은 액체산소를 터보펌프까지 전달하는 장치로 산화제 탱크 하부에 설치된 연료탱크를 관통하여 설치된다. 터널형 배관은 연료탱크를 우회하여 설치되는 우회 배관에 비해 무게가 절감되나 열전달 표면적이 커져 연료 탱크에 저장된 연료의 온도를 변화 시킬 수 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 터널형 배관의 극저온 성능시험을 통하여 배관 특성 및 연료 탱크로의 열전달 현상을 고찰하였으며, 또한 발사체에 적용가능성을 확인하였다.

아스팔트 도로포장에 물순환 파이프 시스템을 이용한 표면온도저감에 관한 연구 (A Study of the Surface Temperature Reduction Using Pipe Cooling System in Asphalt Pavement)

  • PURPOSES: The purpose of asphalt pavement reducing surface temperature by using Pipe cooling system is to make pleasant city life environment. METHODS: We considered building condition to lay the pipes under asphalt pavement and figured out that temperature reducing effect with pipe cooling system. In addition, we guessed rutting through wheel tracking test with a laid the pipes under asphalt mixture and performed fatigue cracking through a flexural fatigue test for performance evaluation of pipe cooling system. RESULTS: When pipe cooling system worked, the temperature of pavement model reduced quickly in test. The system can turn down the degree by 4 or 5 quickly as well. It didn't affect rutting to lay the pipes under the pavement, but it can get damaged to asphalt pavement in early stage by the result of performance evaluation. CONCLUSIONS: We figured out that pipe cooling system can turn down the temperature of aspalt pavement surface through tests. We suggest that pipe cooling system should be considered one of the effective way to solve urban heat island problem.

  • This study proposes a low-cycle fatigue life derived from measurement points on pipe elbows, which are components that are vulnerable to seismic load in the interface piping systems of nuclear power plants that use seismic isolation systems. In order to quantitatively define limit states regarding leakage, i.e., actual failure caused by low-cycle fatigue, in-plane cyclic loading tests were performed using a sine wave of constant amplitude. The test specimens consisted of SCH40 6-inch carbon steel pipe elbows and straight pipes, and an image processing method was used to measure the nonlinear behavior of the test specimens. The leakage lines caused by low-cycle fatigue and the low-cycle fatigue curves were compared and analyzed using the relationship between the relative deformation angles, which were measured based on each of the measurement points on the straight pipe, and the moment, which was measured at the center of the pipe elbow. Damage indices based on the combination of ductility and dissipation energy at each measurement point were used to quantitatively express the time at which leakage occurs due to through-wall cracking in the pipe elbow.

  • Mechanical structures with power sources experience repeated force produced by motors. In result, the life of the pipes reduces and ultimately, the pipes collapse. Such pipes are formed into several shapes and particularly, the U-shape pipe is damaged frequently. In most cases, the U-shape pipe is made with a straight pipe by complicated bending work. During this work process, plastic deformation of the pipe produces residual stress in the pipe. This residual stress significantly affects the fracture behavior of the pipe and induces the change of the stress ratio (min. stress/Max. stress = R). For this reason, residual stress has to be evaluated. In this paper, the residual stress of a U-shaped pipe was evaluated by FEM analysis. In addition, fatigue tests of the U-shaped pipe were performed by using a uniaxial fatigue testing machine. The results of the fatigue test were modified with the results of FEM (Finite Element Method) analysis for residual stress. The modified fatigue test results of the U-shaped pipe were compared with those of a straight pipe.

비개착 추진공법에서 관의 형태에 따른 축소모형 융기 및 침하 실험분석 (Analysis of Heaving and Settlement Test of Scale Model Depending on Shape of the Pipe during Pipe Roof Excavation)

  • 국내 지하횡단공법 중 강관추진공법에서 구조물상부의 강관 roof 구조체 건설시 원형관 및 사각관이 가장 많이 사용되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 강관추진시 관형태에 따른 특징을 규명하고자, 관이 지반에 관입될 때 상부에 작용하는 마찰로 인한 지반의 거동특성을 축소모형실험을 실시하였다. 관입관의 형태에 따라 강관추진시 관의 주변 마찰저항력에 의한 지표변위를 파악하였으며, 융기 및 침하실험 결과 동일한 토피고에서 사각관이 원형관보다 관직경의 5~10%정도 융기 및 침하가 많이 일어났다. 그러나, 토피고에 의한 변위량의 차이가 관의 형태에 의한 변위량의 차이보다 크게 측정되었다. 굴착단계별 침하량과 융기량을 모사하기 위해 마찰조건과 지표변위를 일반화된 조건들에 바탕을 둔 변수로 실험을 수행하였고, 그 결과를 관입관의 형태에 따라 비교 분석하였다.

  • Design, manufacture and calibration procedures of a venturi pipe flowmeter for airflow measurement in altitude engine test were discussed. Altitude engine test using venturi pipe was given as an example. The venturi was designed per the ISO standard of ISO5167, and was intented to include the entire airflow range in the test envelope of the gas turbine engine. Measurement uncertainty analysis was performed in the design procedure to investigate the effect of venturi geometry and sensor specification upon the measurement uncertainty. Manufacturing process was designed to minimize the deviation from the geometry of design. Calibration was performed to get the relationship between the discharge coefficient and the pipe Reynolds number. Then the uncertainty was assessed again using real data acquired during engine test. Through these procedures, it was possible to maintain the uncertainty of airflow measurement under 1 % for most of the operating envelope of the gas turbine engine. The discharge coefficient of the venturi pipe showed agreement with the value suggested in the ISO standard ISO5167-4 within 0.6 %.
