Picture book is the artistic format to develop forms an organic relationship with text and illustration. Not only meaning which the text and illustration deliver from the picture book but understand the symbolic meaning can discover new enjoyment of reading picture book. Sees the text and illustration of the picture book at one unit which is put in indivisible relationship and analyzing in semeiology provides the viewpoint which is important in picture book comprehension. The Greimas's theory of signification leads and understands the interaction of the text and illustration of world-famous author Anthony Browne's picture book 'Gorilla'. In addition, analysing the structural connection with text and visual expression it approaches the integrated meaning of a story from a new point of view. From the researches of existing interpreted the Hanna and relationship of dad was simple being lonely but this research sees which there exists not only paternal love but also heterosexuality between Hanna and dad and could newly be interpreted with the viewpoint where heal the discord is principal.

However, when we take a look at domestic condition we come to know that Korean juvenile publishing has been occupied mostly by the studying book. Also, the cautious book selection by the well educated parents in l990's has brought up the change of juvenile publishing world. Such a presen t condition bears of juvenlie publi.,;hing world. In picture bible, the picture is helpful for showing story more vividly and specifically and it is helpful for finding the meaning of bible hidden behind familiarity. It plays the role of the most powerful testimony and expression, with which human provides himself. The purpose of study was to grasp the relation among historical background of the middle age, human's characteristic and symbolic color by considering the fact that the costume expressed in Maciejowski Bible, which is a picture bible of the middle age and observing type, color and decoration of costume. Among 46 folios organizing Maciejowski Bible, 129 pictures explaining the Book of Genesis, the Book of Exodus, the Book of Leviticus, the Book of Numbers, the Book of Deuteronomy, the Book of Joshua and the Book of Judges, which belong to the former 400 years of the old Testament, were analyzed for people's costumes. The pictures shown in Maciejowski Bible portrays object, costume and behavior on the background of France of the 13th century so we can find out the precious natures of middle age's costume, weapon and armor. Especially, the portrait about finger armor of chain mail attached in hauberk becomes the outstanding evidence that can encroach the discussion over whether it was used in the end of 1300s. Regarding costumes of main characters, they wore chemise and braies as underwear, wore tunic or cotte having various lengths from the length reaching knee to the length reaching 8round as basic costume and wore mantle with different-colored lining and hose with various colors. In the war picture, we can see hauberk made with chain mail and cyclas with long slit, which was worn over hauberk, barrel helmet, norman helmet and steel school cap. Regarding cap. man usually wore coif, beret, shade-shaped cap, straw hat and woman wore the decoration using veil and hairlace and used the method to wrap whole hair with net. As the colors used in the costume of the picture bible, scarlet, blue, green and brown were usually used in order. They usually wore costumes decorated splendidly with the colors haying hish brightness and chroma.

This study explored an alternative activity for the assessment of young children's literacy in Korea; namely, the evaluation of children's ability to construct meaning independent of decoding skill. The subjects were 78 children 4 to 5 years of age in Seoul. Instruments were the researcher's revised form of the Story Construction from a Picture Book, TRSR (Teachers' Ratings of Students' Reading) designed by van Kraayenoord & Paris (1996), and the revised form of the WLAT (Written Language Awareness Test, Kim, 1995). The assessment scores and oral responses of the children were analyzed by Pearson's r, MANOVA and one-way ANOVA, using repeated measures. The findings showed that (1) the story construction total scores were significantly correlated with WALT scores and the subcategory scores were intercorrelated with each other. (2) The story construction total scores differed by age, and (3) the 2 phase scores were higher than the 1 phase scores.

Children's Picture Book is the literature with which children face for the first time as a form of close harmony between text and picture. The picture book shows what is happening and also what may happen mn the children's surroundings and takes great Influence on their creativity, thinking ability, emotion, and Intellectual ability by delivering affluent story through the pictures. The color expressed in the children's picture book is as much important as other formative elements such as shape and texture, and the expression of color on the basis of color emotion is much more Important In that It appeals to the children's feeling. The color which is expressed through the illustration of children's picture book conveys distinctly the motion and feeling of characters who are expressed un the picture book as well as distinction of theme and background and expresses persuasively the whole process of plot and atmosphere so that it might convey various emotions such as delight, sorrow, pleasure, wonder, and fear to children. This thesis alms at analyzing various effects of color contrast, process of color, hue variation, and use of color according to the atmosphere of each cut and the process of plot by selecting the children's picture books which were published abroad and home on the basis of color concept, emotion, and image association which children feel In order to Investigate and analyze the symbolism of color and emotional effect expressed through the illustration of children's picture book, and presenting a direction of color use to produce high-level children's picture book with illustrators individuality and artistry.

This study aims to analyze and compare the difference of preference to realistic and fantastic expressions presented in the illustrations of children's picture books. The subject of this study is set for 52 seven-year-old kindergarten students, including 26 boys and 26 girls, in Cheonan. Two times of researches on their preferences were made on the basis of data collection through individual interviews and self-regulatory questionnaires. A children's picture book, which best demonstrates both realistic and fantastic expressions, was selected as a research tool for such questionnaire from the ones produced and printed within Korea, which either are listed in the Recommended Book List of Children's Book Research Association or received any international award. The result shows that both boys and girls prefer fantastic expressions to realistic ones. It was also found that girls tend to prefer realistic expressions that the boys do. Nevertheless, there definitely was a limitation in thorough analysis by region or age, as they tended to show different responses when they were provided with a picture book with similar theme and story, but different form of expression.

Using content analysis this study examined Korean people's traditional view on children with disabilities, hoping to contribute to the selection of appropriate picture books for an understanding of disabilities in kindergartens and child care centers. Story book characters with disabilities mainly interacted with their families and village people, had lower positions, did not accomplish their work on their own, and suffered from others' anger and beating. Differences in types of disabilities were that physical disabilities were viewed positively, while mental disabilities were viewed negatively. The former had wider scope of activities and maintained more positive relationships with other characters than the latter; furthermore, the former had higher position than the latter and had cooperative interactions with people without disabilities.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the trend of Christian picture book-related research. The purpose of this study is to present basic data for various and balanced research and development in the Christian picture book field by analyzing the research period, research content, and research method related to Christian picture books. For this study, 45 domestic master's and doctoral dissertations were extracted through the National Assembly Library and the Academic Research Information Service (RISS) with the keywords of 'Christian picture book', 'Bible picture book', 'Christian story', and 'Bible story'. The frequency and percentage were calculated by analyzing Christian picture book-related studies according to four criteria: research period, research content, research method, and research subject. As a result of the study, first, the trend of Christian picture book research papers by research period from 1999 to 2021 was 43 master's articles (95.6%) and 2 doctoral articles (4.4%), focusing on Christian picture book-related studies. Second, the trend by research content was found to be 12 basic studies (26.6%) and 33 practical studies (73.4%). Research related to Christian picture books is being actively conducted focusing on practical research rather than basic research. Third, the trend by research method was in the order of 33 quantitative studies (73.4%), 11 literature studies (24.4%), and 1 qualitative study (2.2%). Research related to Christian picture books is centered on quantitative research, and literature research and qualitative research account for a relatively low proportion. Fourth, as for the trends by study subject, there were 35 human subjects (77.8%) and 10 physical subjects (22.2%). Among human subjects, 33 single subjects (73.4%) and 2 mixed subjects (4.4%) were found, and among single subjects, 30 studies (66.7%) targeting children were high. In other words, research on Christian picture books had a higher proportion of studies with children as a single subject than mixed subjects between children and children, children and teachers, and between children and parents.

This study examined system, form and contents of including its publication in depth through the analysis on the publication of those days, present condition of extant edition, system and publication, illustrator etc., targeting series which was published in the liberation period. As for series which was published by Eulyoo Publishing and Joseon Children Culture Association(Ahyeop) for building children's life liberation and children culture, 5 books still remain now. For the extinct edition, this study confirmed publication history of books based on the advertisement carried on the newspaper which was published of the time. As a result of analyzing extant edition, this study found that the book was composed equally as a system of cover, beginning, body and the end, and the body was characterized by the composition of 3-cut comic and story as a form of storybook. The size of the book is A5 book size with 32 pages of quantity and was published as a semi-hardcover bound book. As for illustrators, Kim brothers (Yong-hwan, Eui-hwan) who played an active part in the field of art of the time participated.

The purpose of this study is to develop a scale for evaluation of Parent's Literacy Interaction Rating Scale (PLIRS) for preschool children and to examine its validity and reliability. The participants of this study were 342 Korean mothers with children of 3 to 5 year olds. The methods for data analysis included item analysis, factor analysis for construct validity, Pearson correlations between PLIRS and two sub tests of EC-HOME for concurrent validity, and Cronbach's ${\alpha}$ for reliability. The item discrimination was determined by comparing the highest and lowest groups using Chi-square (${\chi}^2$), and Cramer's V. The 25 items of the scale were found to be satisfactory in item discrimination. The concurrent validity was also identified by correlation between PLIRS and two sub tests of EC-HOME. Factor analysis revealed that the structure of the PLIRS consisted of three factors: 'open interaction', 'directive interaction', and 'picture-book reading interaction'. 'Open interaction' is based on 'Whole Language Approach', such as 'I have my child write as he/she likes even if they spell wrongly.' 'Directive interaction' is based on 'Code Emphasis Approach', such as 'I have my child take dictation.' 'Picture-book reading interaction' is how parents read picture-book with her/his children, such as 'When I read a picture book to my child, I ask various questions about a book story.' The Cronbach's ${\alpha}$ for internal consistency reliability range was .78 to .87 for three subscales. It was concluded that PLIRS was valid and reliable to examine the literacy interaction between parents and children in home.
