  • This study investigated the impact of the morphological change on a physical fish habitat in the downstream reach of a dam using long-term mobile bed simulation. The quasi-steady model was used for hydraulic simulation and the habitat suitability index model was applied for physical habitat simulation. For simulating long-term morphological change of the stream bed, The Exner equation was used. Sorting of bed material was also considered. The results of simulation showed that erosion and armoring process occurred in a reach downstream of the dam and change of physical habitat for Zacco platypus followed. These results indicate that channel morphology and substrate conditions effected the physical habitat for considering long-term investigation.

  • In this paper, we studied an efficient inter-working method in which QualNet network simulator can import WAVE channel model and physical layer simulation module pre-designed by Matlab tool. At first, we investigated physical layer and communication medium simply designed in QualNet, then we suggested practical method for QualNet network simulator to adopt different type of physical layer simulation module in which detailed multi-path fading channel model and IEEE802.11p communication modem are designed. This work should be applied to linked simulation between upper layer and lower physical layer for total simulation from higher layer to lower physical layer related to next generation DSRC/WAVE specification.

  • Purpose : Investigate the effects of Horse-back riding Simulation Machine training on the Balance ability in Patients with Stroke. Method : The patients were divided to control group(n=18) with conventional rehabilitation conventional rehabilitation 60min/day and experimental group(n=17) with hippotherapy simulator 15 min/day after conventional rehabilitation 45min/day, 5 time/week for 4 weeks. Balance ability of both groups was assessed using Timed Up and Go(TUG), Berg balabce scale(BBS) and Center of pressure area(COPA). In the present result, there was a no significant(P>0.05) Results : The results of this study showed that Horse-back riding Simulation Machine training, after training, had meaningful difference of TUG, BBS and COPA. Conclusion : This study showed that Horse-back riding Simulation Machine training increased balance ability that resulted in enhancement of motor performance.

  • In this paper, the physical properties of actual fabric data are predicted using the Cusick drape system, which is a means of measuring the physical properties of fabrics. Using a three-dimensional volumetric system, the cloth data of the actual Cusick drape system is acquired in a three-dimensional point cloud format. Cusick drape simulation is performed using mesh data of the same shape and size as the fabric, and the physical parameters of the draped fabric most similar to the actual draped fabric are acquired.

  • Purpose: This paper presents a framework development for BIM (Building Information Modeling)-based OOPM (Object-Oriented Physical Modeling) for Building Thermal Simulation. The framework facilitates decision-making in the design process by integrating two object-oriented modeling approaches (BIM and OOPM) and efficiently providing object-based thermal simulation results into the BIM environment. Method: The framework consists of a system interface between BIM and OOPM-based building energy modeling (BEM) and the visualization of simulation results for building designers. The interface enables a BIM models to be translated into OOPM-based BEM automatically and the thermal simulation from the created BEM model immediately. The visualization module enables the simulation results to be presented in BIM for building designers to comprehend the relationships between design decisions and the building performances. For the framework implementation, we utilized the Modelica Buildings Library developed by the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory as a thermal simulation solver. We also conducted an experiment to validate the framework simulation results and demonstrate our framework. Result: This paper demonstrates a new methodology to integrate BIM and OOPM-based BEM for building thermal simulation, which enables an automatic translation BIM into OOPM-based BEM with high efficiency and accuracy.

  • Construction graphical simulations usually do not reflect physical properties of construction equipment and material because there are restricted to the geometric model. The complete description of construction operations is difficult for graphical simulation without a physical modeling. The object of this research is to enhance the functionality of restricted simulation system to geometric model. And research is conducted to overcome the limitation of current construction graphical simulation system through the connection geometric model and physical model with the physical properties of construction equipment and material such as crane's cable oscillation. The motion equations for the oscillation of crane cable as a result of the trolley's movement and the boom's rotation were derived. The equations were solved through numerical analysis and the results were simulated visually. The realistic description with physical modeling of construction operations will contribute for ensuring preliminary against risks and improving constructability as well as the application of various fields.

  • The design of high power electronic circuits and the verification of the design by practical experiments are time and cost consuming. Recently power circuit simulation technique is developing to do it easily. However, most of the simulation has used the ideal switch model consists of passive component that can not describe the physical characteristics of semiconductor devices and cannot describe the switching transient state. For the design of such power electronic circuits by the simulation, the switching transients are very important. Therefore the simulation models must describe the switching transient and the stationary behavior as precisely as possible on the hand and as fast as possible the other hand. This paper introduces the application of the physical models of power devices that are developed by TUM(Technical University of Munich, Germany) for the power electronic circuit analysis.

  • Background: Most cases of facial asymmetry involve yaw deformity, and determination of the yaw correction level is very difficult. Methods: We use three-dimensional soft tissue simulation to determine the yaw correction level. This three-dimensional simulation is based on the addition of cephalometric prediction to gradual yaw correction. Optimal yaw correction is determined visually, and an intermediate splint is fabricated with computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacturing. Application of positioning devices and the performance of horseshoe osteotomy are advisable. Results: With this procedure, accurate repositioning of jaws was confirmed and patients obtained fairly good facial contour. Conclusions: This procedure is a promising method for a widespread, predictable treatment of facial asymmetry.
