  • Now the world will regulate the CO2 emission due to environmental issues. For an alternative plan photovoltaic system is watched. So, photovoltaic system is trend of big city and it is mandatory for renovation of construction. Oil & gas filling station existed in city is suitable to found the photovoltaic system. But the general photovoltaic system in oil & gas filling station is difficult to found because it is classified into hazardous area. This paper evaluates intrinsic safety evaluation of solar cell for making basic data to found for the photovoltaic system on hazardous area. The intrinsic safety characteristic is evaluated by short-circuit ignition test using IEC type spark ignition test apparatus and temperature rising test. The result of short-circuit ignition test, propane-air mixture gas is exploded on condition that 4 solar cells(9[V], 90[mA]) are connected serially under insolation 800[W/$m^2$]. So, if a larger solar module will be used at oil & gas filling station than we were tested, it needs explosion proof. As the result of rising temperature test, the temperature rising due to short circuit is not so much, but when the temperature rises due to radiant heat, it demands careful consideration for environmental influence.

  • A photovoltaic system is an infinite and clean energy system. A photovoltaic system consists of a solar cell array, a converter, a inverter and a control unit. It is necessary that the Maximum Power Point Tracker(MPPT) is applied to the photovoltaic system because the output power of solar cell array is varied with irradiation, temperature and external effects. In this paper, the neural networks theory, one of the control methods, is applied to track the maximum power point of the photovoltaic system. The MPPT using neural networks theory is proposed to improve existing energy converter efficiency. Also the theory is applied to operation of inverter type airconditionig system.

  • The photovoltaic power generation system has a great future as clean energy instead of fossil fuel which has many environmental problems such as exhausted gas or air pollution. In a utility interactive photovoltaic generation system, a three-phase inverter is used for the connection between the photovoltaic array and the utility. This paper present a three phase inverter for photovoltaic power system with current controller, voltage controller, PLL Control system and the Phase detector of Interactive Voltage by using dq transformation. The proposed inverter system provides a sinusoidal ac current for domestic loads and the utility line with unity power factor.

  • As the solar energy market grows, the need to investigate the potential of photovoltaic system is being highlighted. However, due to the lack of plain field, the system on top of buildings is being exploited. This paper analyzes the potential to install PV systems on the rooftops. First of all, with the aid of a photovoltaic system simulation software, buildings were designed in a specific area based on the architectural data. And then, with the same software, the potential to install photovoltaic system was explored by placing PV modules on the buildings' rooftops. The installation potential was calculated and simulated with consideration for obstacles on the rooftops. The parameters are composed of available area for system installation, area utilization rate, PV system power capacity, operation yield hour per day and performance ratio. In the simulation, 5 sites were analyzed based on their architectural data. In the end, reliable data that can be utilized were collected for the potential to install the system with the photovoltaic system simulation software.

  • Solar, as an ideal renewable energy, has inexhaustible, clean and safe characteristics. However, solar energy is an extreme intermittent and inconstant energy source. In order to improve the photovoltaic system efficiency and utilize the solar energy more fully, and the DC current vary with the irradiation, it is necessary to study the characteristics of photovoltaic I-V according to the external factors. This paper presents the analysis of characteristics of photovoltaic I-V according to the irradiation. The results show that the DC current of the photovoltaic system are increased along with the increasing values of irradiation.

Also, The photovoltaic is one of the most important sustainable technologies appliable to architectures. This study aims to evaluate the performance of photovoltaic integrated lightshelf system. For the study, the 1/5 scaled office models were made and the field tests were experimented under clear sky conditions. The power ratio has been analyzed to evaluate the performance of photovoltaic integrated lightshelf system. As results, the power performance was high on photovoltaic lightshelf installation angle $0^{\circ}$. And the performance was reduced on 23(%) by installation angle $15^{\circ}$ and 63(%) by installation angle $30^{\circ}$.

  • This paper presents losses comparison and analysis results for different types of fault modes of grid-connected photovoltaic system generated for long-term operation. The approach of losses comparison and analysis by faults is to identify relationship between measured and estimated values of five loss factors which are quantified from irradiance to system output power. This paper presents the symptom results for faults such as snow, shading, sensor defect, blackout, soiling and so on from three years or more monitored data. These results will indicate that it is useful to develop fault detection and diagnosis tool to enhance capacity factor and save operation and maintenance cost of grid-connected photovoltaic system in the field.

  • Modeling of photovoltaic power systems is significant to analytically predict its dynamics in practical applications. This paper presents a novel modeling algorithm of such system by using probability and statistic theories. We first establish a linear model basically composed of Fourier parameter sets for mapping the input/output variable of photovoltaic systems. The proposed model includes solar irradiation and ambient temperature of photovoltaic modules as an input vector and the inverter power output is estimated sequentially. We deal with these measurements as random variables and derive a parameter learning algorithm of the model in terms of statistics. Our learning algorithm requires computation of an expectation and joint expectation against solar irradiation and ambient temperature, which are analytically solved from the integral calculus. For testing the proposed modeling algorithm, we utilize realistic measurement data sets obtained from the Seokwang Solar power plant in Youngcheon, Korea. We demonstrate reliability and superiority of the proposed photovoltaic system model by observing error signals between a practical system output and its estimation.
