  • 3kW photovoltaic (PV) systems and data acquisition system are constructed for performance analysis of PV system at field demonstration test center (FDTC) of Korea. As climatic and irradiation conditions are varied, the performance characteristics of PV system are collected and analyzed in data acquisition system. From these results, the performances of gird-connected power conditioning system (PCS) fur PV system have been evaluated and analyzed. Furthermore, performance indices of grid-connected PCS e.g. output power, efficiency, loss factor, and the other index at the site are reviewed.

Furthermore, performance of total PV system e.g. electric power and loss factor at the site are reviewed.

  • This paper describes common MPPT(Maximum Power Point Tracking) control algorithm; Constant Voltage Control, P&O(Perturbation and Observation), IncCond(Incremental Conductance), and investigated it\`s efficiency. Though simulation and efficiency evaluation, the steady/transient states characteristics and efficiency of control algorithms are analyzed respectively. Also, two-mode MPPT control to improve on the existing control algorithm. Moreover, is proposed for high efficiency this paper suggests a topology for MPPT measuring efficiency and a method of examination.

  • As is well-known, the maximum power point (MPP) of PV power generation system depends on array temperature and solar insolation, it is necessary to track MPP of solar array all the time. Among various MPP control algorithms, the constant voltage control method, the perturbation and observation (P&O) method and the incremental conductance method (IncCond) have drawn many attractions due to the usefulness of each system. In this parer, the effectiveness of above mentioned three different control algorithms are thoroughly investigated via simulations and preposed efficiency evaluation method on experiment. Both the steady-state and transient characteristics of each control algorithms along with measured efficiency are analyzed, respectively. Finally, a novel MPPT control algorithm combining the constant voltage control and IncCond method for low insolation condition is proposed to improve efficiency of the 3KW PV power generation system.

  • 태양광 모듈의 효율 증가를 위한 고효율태양전지개발, 광투과율향상, 모듈의 대형화 등 많은 연구개발이 이루어지고 있다. 이중 우리는 태양광 모듈의 후면 sheet인 Back sheet의 특성 및 온도 변화에 따른 모듈의 전기적 출력 특성 변화에 대한 연구를 실시하였다. Back sheet의 두께, 재질, 색상 등 종류는 다양하다. 여기서는 백시트의 색상을 중점으로 White, Blue, Black 3가지와 Glass까지 총 4가지 종류를 가지고 반사율을 측정하고, 모듈화 했을 때 출력을 비교하였다. 그리고 온도별로 효율값을 측정하여 백시트의 색상 종류에 따라서 어떠한 차이가 있는지 비교하였다.

  • This paper presents performance monitoring results of large scale photovoltaic (PV) system supported by general dissemination & regional energy program in korea government polices for new and renewable energy resources. 80kW PV system and monitoring system is constructed and monitored PV system performance to observe the overall effect of environmental conditions on their operation characteristics. The PV system performance has been evaluated and analyzed for component perspective (PV array and power conditioning unit) and global perspective (system efficiency, capacity factor, and electrical power energy and power quality etc.) for six month monitoring periods.

  • All-vanadium redox flow battery(VRFB) has been studied actively as one of the most promising electrochemical energy storage systems for a wide range of applications such as electric vehicles, photovoltaic arrays, and excess power generated by electric power plants at night time. CPCS has been shown to have the characteristics as an excellent current collector for VRFB and electrochemical properties of specific resistivity 0.31 $\Omega$cm, which were composed of G-1028 80 wt%, PVC 10 wt%, DBP 5 wt% and FS 5 wt%. Energy efficiencies of VRFB with the CPCE and the existing electrode assembly were 84.14 % and 77.24 % respectively, in charge/discharge experiments at constant current of 200 mA, and the CPCE was confirmed to be suitable as the electrode of VRFB.

  • In the glass/TCO/p-i-n a-Si/Al type of amorphous silicon solar cell, the effects on solar cell efficiency and metastability for the various kinds of TCO analyzed by SAM and ESCA, which was used to measure the diffusion profiles of In and Sn and the Fermi energy shifts in the TCO/p interface respectively. Indium which diffused into a-Si p-layer did not have any significant effects on the Fermi level shift of p-layer when the content of $B_2H_6/SiH_4$ in p-layer was at 1 gas%. The cell fabricated on $SnO_2$ turned out to have the best cell photovoltaic characteristics. ITO fabricated by electron beam deposition system, which was shown to have the greatest rate of diffusion of Indium in ITO/p interface produced the worst metastability among the cells tested.

Organic Photovoltaic Devices on $HNO_3$-Treated Multilayer Graphene Electrodes

  • We reported on the characteristics of organic solar cells (OSCs) fabricated on $HNO_3$-treated multilayer graphene (MLG) transparent electrodes. MLG electrodes were prepared using a chemical vapor deposition and a multi-transfer process. Compared to organic solar cells (OSCs) on the ITO electrodes had a fill factor of 65.97%, and a power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 3.364%, OSCs on the MLG (three-layer graphene) electrodes with sheet resistance of $274{\pm}1{\Omega}$/square and transparency of 92.1% had a fill factor of 43.46%, and a power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 2.019%. However, OSCs on the HNO3-treated MLG electrodes with lower sheet resistance of $119{\pm}1{\Omega}$/square had a fill factor of 57.54%, and a PCE of 2.861%. The results would provide a promising method to improve the performance of large-area OSCs based on MLG electrodes.
