We use numerical simulations to investigate the evolution of both the star formation rate (SFR) and the observable properties of equal-mass disk merger remnants for 18 different orbital configurations. In our analysis, the photometric properties of the remnants have been constructed by considering dust reddening effect in order to facilitate the comparison with observational data of large surveys such as the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS). First, we found that the detailed evolutions of merging galaxies are different between the merging characteristics such as merging time scale, SFR history, and burst efficiency. Around $70{\pm}5$ percent of gas turns into stars until the merger-induced starburst ends regardless of merger types. Our study also suggests that merger features involve a small fraction of stars. Merger features last roughly 3 times the final coalescence time of galaxy mergers. For a shallower surface brightness limit, the features seem to survive in a shorter time, which is the reason why detecting merger features by using shallow surveys were difficult in the past.
Constraining physical (or stellar population) properties - such as stellar mass, star-formation rate, stellar population age, and dust-extinction - of galaxies from observation is crucial in the study of galaxy evolution. This is very challenging especially for high-redshift galaxies, and a widely-used method to estimate physical properties of high-redshift galaxies is to compare their photometric spectral energy distributions (SEDs) to spectral templates from stellar population synthesis models. I will show that the SED-fitting results of high-redshift galaxies are strongly dependent on the assumed forms of star-formation histories. I will also present the results of SED-fitting analysis of observed Lyman-break galaxies which show that parametric models with gradually increasing star-formation histories provide better estimates of physical parameters of high-redshift (z>3) star-forming galaxies than traditionally-used exponentially declining star-formation histories. This result is also consistent with the predictions from the modern galaxy formation models.
In this paper, we have presented the observational result for the photometric quality of main telescopes in Gimhae Astronomical Observatory. Also we performed the observation of searching new minor planets as competitive work in public observatories. The observation was carried out using 60cm telescope of Gimhae Astronomical Observatory on 2007 January 13. And, $Sch\ddot{u}ler$ BVI filters and 1K CCD camera (AP8p) were used. To define the quality of CCD photometry, we observed the region of well-known standard stars in the open cluster M67. From observed data, The transformation coefficients and airmass coefficients were obtained, and the accuracy of CCD photometry was investigated. From PSF photometry, we obtained the color-magnitude diagram of M67, and considered the useful magnitude limit and the physical properties of M67. This method can be successfully used to confirm the photometric quality of main telescope in public observatories. To investigate the detection possibility of unknown object as astroid, we observed the near area of the opposition in the ecliptic plane. And we discussed the result. Our result show that it can be possible to detect minor planets in solar system brighter than $V{\sim}18.3mag$. and it can carry out photometric study brighter than V 16mag. in Gimhae Astronomical Observatory. These results imply that the public observatories can make the research work.
At local, galaxy properties are well known to be clearly different in different environments. However, it is still an open question how this environment-dependent trend has been shaped. In this presentation, we will show the results of our investigation about the evolution of star-formation properties of galaxies over a wide redshift range, from z~2 to z~0.5, focusing its dependence on their stellar mass and environment. In the UKIDSS/UDS region, we estimated photometric redshifts and stellar population properties, such as stellar masses and star-formation rates, using the deep optical and near-infrared data available in this field. Then, we identified galaxy cluster candidates at z~0.5-2. Through the analysis and comparison of star-formation (SF) properties of galaxies in clusters and in field, we found interesting results regarding the evolution of SF properties of galaxies: (1) regardless of redshifts, stellar mass is a key parameter controlling quenching of star formation in galaxies; (2) At z<1, environmental effects become important at quenching star formation regardless of stellar mass of galaxies; and (3) However, the result of the environmental quenching is prominent only for low mass galaxies (M* < $10^{10}M_{\odot}$) since the star formation in most of high mass galaxies are already quenched at z > 1.
Thanks to high cadence monitoring and high photometric accuracy of Korea Microlensing Telescope Network (KMTNet), we expect the detection of many events caused by wide-separation planets and free-floating planets, which is not easy due to the short event duration. Thus, it is important to understand wide-separation planetary lensing events. Several studies on the wide-separation events have been reported, but events caused by wide-separation planetary systems with a moon have not yet been studied. In this paper, we study the properties of events caused by planetary systems where wide-separation planets host a moon. We also study the effect of a finite background source star on the moon feature in the wide planetary-lensing events.

In recent, there have been several developments in lamp technology that promise savings in electrical power consumption and improved quality of the lighting space. Above all, the advantage of ring-shaped electrodeless fluorescent lamp is the removal of internal electrodes and heating filaments that are a light-limiting factor of conventional fluorescent lamps. Therefore, the life time of ring-shaped electrodeless fluorescent lamps is substantially higher than that of conventional fluorescent lamps and last up to 60,000 hours and is intended as a high efficacy replacement for the incandescent reflector lamp in many applications. In this paper, maxwell 3D finite element analysis program (Ansoft) was used to obtain electromagnetic properties associated with the coil and nearby structures. The electromagnetic emitting properties were presented by D simulation software operated at 250KHz and some specific conditions. Photometric characteristic of the ring-shaped electrodeless fluorescent lamp were investigated using LS-100 lightmeter and TA-0510 thermometer respectively.

The major flavonoid component of Ginseng leaf is trifolin, a glycoside of kaempferol. To evaluate the antioxidative properties of trifolin and kaempferol on cellular membranes, we compared them with the other flavonoids through the 102-Induced photohemolysis of rabbit erythrocytes. All the flavonoid aglycones including kaempferol, quercetin and baicalein protected effectively the cells from the 102-caused damage in a dose- dependent manner, by scavenging 102 and free radicals in the cellular membranes. The solubilization of the flavonoid aglycones into micelles or erythrocyte membranes was deduced from spectro-photometric and microscopic observations. The flavonoid glycosides were not protective or less protective than their corresponding aglycones, and trifolin was the only glycoside that exhibited a solubilization into the membranes and a significant protection against the photohemolysis. We also tested some phenolic compounds contained in Ginseng, and found that they did not prevent the photohemolysis so effectively as kaempferol or trifolin.
Hayabusa is the JAXA's space mission that succeeded in sample-return from S-type asteroid (25143) Itokawa. During the rendezvous phase, more than a thousand of images were taken with the Asteroid Multi-band Imaging Camera (AMICA). It is valuable to study the regional variation of the optical properties on the asteroid using these images to know the generality and uniqueness of the returned samples. In addition, AMICA images are important in that they provide unique data set at low phase angle (i.e Sun-Itokawa-AMICA's angle) that have not been explored in the previous asteroidal missions. At the previous conference (2015 KAS spring meeting), we introduced our preliminary data analysis of AMICA data without considering the shape model of Itokawa and mentioned. In this study, we present a new result obtained through further analysis, taking account of the shape model of the asteroid. We thus utilized "plate_renderer" tool to derive Hapke model parameters at different terrains. It is found that the opposition amplitude (parameter B0) is consistent with those of the other S-type asteroids while the opposition width (parameter h) is significantly narrower than those of the other S-type asteroids. At this conference, we plan to describe the regional variation of photometric properties on Itokawa.
Galaxy clusters are known to be very bright in X-ray and contain a large number of X-ray point sources within the X-ray emission. However, due to the fluctuations of the X-ray emission, it is very difficult to detect faint X-ray sources and to extract accurately the photometric properties of the X-ray point sources in galaxy clusters. In addition, the most X-ray telescopes show spatially varying point spread function (PSF) and suffer from severe vignetting. The Chandra Archival Survey of Galaxy Clusters project is a wide-area ($\sim40deg^2$) survey of serendipitous Chandra X-ray sources in galaxy cluster fields, containing ~58,000 X-ray point sources in ~800 Chandra ACIS observations of ~600 galaxy clusters. This project aim to investigate the density environmental effects on the physical properties of the X-ray point sources, comparing physical properties of the X-ray point sources in galaxy clusters to those in typical fields. To utilize the sensitivity and detection probability of the X-ray point sources in galaxy clusters, we perform extensive Monte-Carlo simulations. In this poster, we compare the detection probability of the X-ray point sources in galaxy clusters to that of typical fields, and discuss quantitatively the difference between them.

Since the serendipitous discovery of a large-scale atomic hydrogen ($H_I$) ring discovered in the Leo I galaxy group, its origin has been under debate till today, whether it is the leftover after group formation or stripped gas structure during the galaxy-galaxy interaction. Intriguingly a number of $H_I$ clumps have been identified along the gas ring, some of which turn out to be associated with optically catalogued dwarf galaxies. The formation history based on detailed optical and $H_I$ gas properties of those dwarf galaxies will enable us to verify the origin of the Leo ring. In this work, we first probe the redshift and multi-color properties of those dwarf galaxies, using deep photometric and spectroscopic data from CFHT, Gemini and Magellan telescope.
