The wavelet transform is combined with the boundary element method (BEM), to solve efficiently the Maxwell's equation and the proposed method is applied to the electromagnetic problem for the analysis of topological effects of phase-shifting masks. The accuracy of the module developed was verified by comparison with both analytic solutions and published results. In addition, it was found that the boundary element method in combination with the wavelet matrix transform would be more efficient than the conventional methods based on the BEM in views of the calculation speed and the usage of computer memory.
In this paper, we propose a new digital delay-locked loop (DLL) for high-speed DDR3/DDR4 SDRAMs. The proposed digital DLL adopts a fine delay line using phase interpolation to eliminate the jitter increase problem due to the boundary switching problem. In addition, the proposed digital DLL utilizes a new gradual search algorithm to eliminate the harmonic lock problem. The proposed digital DLL is designed with a 1.1 V, 38-nm CMOS DRAM process and has a frequency operating range of 0.25-2.0 GHz. It has a peak-to-peak jitter of 1.1 ps at 2.0 GHz and has a power consumption of about 13 mW.

In China, agricultural irrigation water often contains a lot of suspended sediment which may cause the nozzle wear. In this study, a new numerical simulation combing the Discrete Phase Model and a remeshing algorithm was conducted. The geometric boundary deformation caused by the erosion wear, was considered. The weight loss of the nozzle, the node displacement and the flow field were investigated and discussed. The timestep sensitivity analysis showed that the timestep is very critical in the erosion modeling due to the randomness and the discreteness of the erosion behavior. Based on the simulation results, the major deformation of the boundary wall due to the erosion was found at the corners between outlet portion and contraction portion. Based on this remeshing algorithm, the simulated erosion weight loss of the nozzle is 4.62% less compared with the case without boundary deformation. The boundary deformation changes the pressure and velocity distribution, and eventually changes the sediment distribution inside the nozzle. The average turbulence kinetic energy at the outlet orifice is found to decrease with the erosion time, which is believed to change the nozzle's spray performance eventually.

The 1-D numerical study of the interior ballistics has been conducted. The unsteady compressible 1-D CFD code using SIMPLER algorithm and QUICK scheme has been developed. The mathematical model of the two-phase flow has been established for the behavior of the interior ballistics. The moving boundary due to the projectile motion as the physical phenomena of the interior ballistics results in the varied control volume. In order to analyze the moving boundary, the numerical codes, which apply the ghost-cell extrapolation method and the Lagrangian method respectively, have been developed. The ghost-cell extrapolation method has been used in the Eulerian coordinate system. The Lagrangian method has been used in Non-Eulerian coordinate system. These codes have been verified through the analysis of the free piston motion problem in the tube. Through this study, the basic techniques of the numerical code for the multi-dimensional two-phase flow of the interior ballistics have been obtained.

The phase field model is becoming the model of choice for the theoretical study of the morphologies of crystals growth from the melt. This model provides an alternative approach to the solution of the classical (sharp interface) model of solidification by introducing a new variable, the phase field, Ø, to identify the phase. The variable Ø takes on constant values in the bulk phases and makes a continuous transition between these values over a thin transition layer that plays the role of the classically sharp interface. This results in Ø being governed by a new partial differential equation(in addition to the PDE's that govern the classical fields, such as temperature and composition) that guarantees (in the asymptotic limit of a suitably thin transition layer) that the appropriate boundary conditions at the crystal-melt interface are satisfied. Thus, one can proceed to solve coupled PDE's without the necessity of explicitly tracking the interface (free boundary) that would be necessary to solve the classical (sharp interface) model. Recent advances in supercomputing and algorithms now enable generation of interesting and valuable results that display most of the fundamental solidification phenomena and processes that are observed experimentally. These include morphological instability, solute trapping, cellular growth, dendritic growth (with anisotropic sidebranching, tip splitting, and coupling to periodic forcing), coarsening, recalescence, eutectic growth, faceting, and texture development. This talk will focus on the fundamental basis of the phase field model in terms of irreversible thermodynamics as well as it computational limitations and prognosis for future improvement. In this feature article, we briefly review the new methods we have utilized recently in the investigation of morphology and phase behavior of block copolymers. We first describe the chromatographic fractionation method to purify block copolymers from their side products of mainly homopolymers or block copolymer precursors inadvertently terminated upon addition of the next monomer in the sequential anionic polymerization. The chromatographic method is extended to the fractionation of the individual block of diblock copolymers which can yield the diblock copolymer fractions of different composition and molecular weight, which also have narrower distributions in both molecular weight and composition. A more detailed phase diagram could be constructed from the set of block copolymer fractions without the need of acquiring many block copolymers each prepared by anionic polymerization. The fractions with narrow distribution in both molecular weight and composition exhibit better long-range ordering and sharper phase transition. Next, epitaxial relationships between two ordered structures in block copolymer thin film is discussed. We employed the direct visualization method, transmission electron microtomography(TEMT) to scrutinize the grain boundary structure.

The high temperature deformation behavior of two-phase gamma TiAl alloy has been investigated with the variation of temperature and ${\gamma}/{\alpha}_2$ volume fraction. For this purpose, a series of load relaxation tests and tensile tests have been conducted at temperature ranging from 800 to $1050^{\circ}C$. In the early stage of the deformation as in the load relaxation test experimental flow curves of the fine-grained TiAl alloy are well fitted with the combined curves of two processes (grain matrix deformation and dislocation climb) in the inelastic deformation theory. The evidence of grain boundary sliding has not been observed at this stage. However, when the amount of deformation is large (${\epsilon}{\approx}$ 0.8), flow curves significantly changes its shape indicating that grain boundary sliding also operates at this stage, which has been attributed to the occurrence of dynamic recrystallization during the deformation. With the increase in the volume fraction of ${\alpha}_2$-phase, the flow stress for grain matrix deformation increases since ${\alpha}_2$-Phase is considered as hard phase acting as barrier for dislocation movement. It is considered that cavity initiation is more probable to occur at ${\alpha}_2/{\gamma}$ interface rather than at ${\gamma}/{\gamma}$ interface.

The application of multiphase flows is increasingly being applied to analyze phenomena such as single phase flows where the fluid boundary changes continuously over time or the problem of mixing a liquid phase and a gas phase. In particular, multiphase flow models that take into account incompressible Newtonian fluids for liquid and gas are often applied to solve the problems of the free water surface such as wave fields. In general, multi-phase flow models require time-based the surface tracking of each fluid's phase boundary, which determines the accuracy of the final calculation of the model. This study evaluates the advection performance of representative VOF-type boundary tracking techniques applied to various CFD numerical codes. The effectiveness of the FCT method to control the numerical flux to minimize the numerical diffusion in the conventional VOF-type boundary tracking method and advection calculation was mainly evaluated. In addition, the possibility of tracking performance of free surface using CIP method (Yabe and Aoki, 1991) was also investigated. Numerical results show that the FCT-VOF method introducing an anti-diffusive flux to precent excessive diffusion is superior to other methods under the confined conditions in this study. The results from this study are expected to be used as an important basic data in selecting free surface tracking techniques applied to various numerical codes.

Liquid phases in ZnO varistors cause more complex phase development and microstructure, which makes the control of electrical properties and reliability more difficult. Therefore, we have investigated 2 mol% $CaCO_3$ doped $ZnO-Co_3O_4-Cr_2O_3-La_2O_3$ (ZCCLCa) bulk ceramics as one of the compositions without liquid phase sintering additive. The results were as follows: when $CaCO_3$ is added to ZCCLCa ($644{\Omega}cm$) acting as a simple ohmic resistor, CaO does not form a secondary phase with ZnO but is mostly distributed in the grain boundary and has excellent varistor characteristics (high nonlinear coefficient ${\alpha}=78$, low leakage current of $0.06{\mu}A/cm^2$, and high insulation resistance of $1{\times}10^{11}{\Omega}cm$). The main defects $Zn_i^{{\cdot}{\cdot}}$ (AS: 0.16 eV, IS & MS: 0.20 eV) and $V_o^{\bullet}$ (AS: 0.29 eV, IS & MS: 0.37 eV) were found, and the grain boundaries had 1.1 eV with electrically single grain boundary. The resistance of each defect and grain boundary decreases exponentially with increasing the measurement temperature. However, the capacitance (0.2 nF) of the grain boundary was ~1/10 lower than that of the two defects (~3.8 nF, ~2.2 nF) and showed a tendency to decrease as the measurement temperature increased. Therefore, ZCCLCa varistors have high sintering temperature of $1,200^{\circ}C$ due to lack of liquid phase additives, but excellent varistor characteristics are exhibited, which means ZCCLCa is a good candidate for realizing chip type or disc type commercial varistor products with excellent performance.
high pressure and temperature conditions. However, those results are not consistent with one another, and phase boundary between ilmenite and perovskite phases determined only from the quenching method may be not so reliable at all. Therefore, in-situ high pressure-temperature (hP-T) X-ray diffraction measurements were performed up to 19 GPa and $700^{\circ}C$ in a large volume press apparatus using synchrotron radiation. Experimental results show that perovskite phase is stable at pressures above 16 GPa, and transforms back to $LiNbO_3$phase near 15 CPa at room temperature, and that the perovskite-ilmenite transition is back and forth near 15 CPa at $500^{\circ}C$. LiNbO$_3$phase transforms to ilmenite at 13 CPa and $300^{\circ}C$ and at 10.8 CPa and $400^{\circ}C$, respectively. These data indicate that $LiNbO_3$phase may have a stability region in the hP-T phase diagram and that the perovskite-ilmenite phase boundary would be quite different from that previously reported.
