A variety of influenza A viruses from animal hosts are continuously prevalent throughout the world which cause human epidemics resulting millions of human infections and enormous industrial and economic damages. Thus, early diagnosis of such pathogen is of paramount importance for biomedical examination and public healthcare screening. To approach this issue, here we propose a fully integrated Rotary genetic analysis system, called Rotary Genetic Analyzer, for on-site detection of influenza A viruses with high speed. The Rotary Genetic Analyzer is made up of four parts including a disposable microchip, a servo motor for precise and high rate spinning of the chip, thermal blocks for temperature control, and a miniaturized optical fluorescence detector as shown Fig. 1. A thermal block made from duralumin is integrated with a film heater at the bottom and a resistance temperature detector (RTD) in the middle. For the efficient performance of RT-PCR, three thermal blocks are placed on the Rotary stage and the temperature of each block is corresponded to the thermal cycling, namely $95^{\circ}C$ (denature), $58^{\circ}C$ (annealing), and $72^{\circ}C$ (extension). Rotary RT-PCR was performed to amplify the target gene which was monitored by an optical fluorescent detector above the extension block. A disposable microdevice (10 cm diameter) consists of a solid-phase extraction based sample pretreatment unit, bead chamber, and 4 ${\mu}L$ of the PCR chamber as shown Fig. 2. The microchip is fabricated using a patterned polycarbonate (PC) sheet with 1 mm thickness and a PC film with 130 ${\mu}m$ thickness, which layers are thermally bonded at $138^{\circ}C$ using acetone vapour. Silicatreated microglass beads with 150~212 ${\mu}L$ diameter are introduced into the sample pretreatment chambers and held in place by weir structure for construction of solid-phase extraction system. Fig. 3 shows strobed images of sequential loading of three samples. Three samples were loaded into the reservoir simultaneously (Fig. 3A), then the influenza A H3N2 viral RNA sample was loaded at 5000 RPM for 10 sec (Fig. 3B). Washing buffer was followed at 5000 RPM for 5 min (Fig. 3C), and angular frequency was decreased to 100 RPM for siphon priming of PCR cocktail to the channel as shown in Figure 3D. Finally the PCR cocktail was loaded to the bead chamber at 2000 RPM for 10 sec, and then RPM was increased up to 5000 RPM for 1 min to obtain the as much as PCR cocktail containing the RNA template (Fig. 3E). In this system, the wastes from RNA samples and washing buffer were transported to the waste chamber, which is fully filled to the chamber with precise optimization. Then, the PCR cocktail was able to transport to the PCR chamber. Fig. 3F shows the final image of the sample pretreatment. PCR cocktail containing RNA template is successfully isolated from waste. To detect the influenza A H3N2 virus, the purified RNA with PCR cocktail in the PCR chamber was amplified by using performed the RNA capture on the proposed microdevice. The fluorescence images were described in Figure 4A at the 0, 40 cycles. The fluorescence signal (40 cycle) was drastically increased confirming the influenza A H3N2 virus. The real-time profiles were successfully obtained using the optical fluorescence detector as shown in Figure 4B. The Rotary PCR and off-chip PCR were compared with same amount of influenza A H3N2 virus. The Ct value of Rotary PCR was smaller than the off-chip PCR without contamination. The whole process of the sample pretreatment and RT-PCR could be accomplished in 30 min on the fully integrated Rotary Genetic Analyzer system. We have demonstrated a fully integrated and portable Rotary Genetic Analyzer for detection of the gene expression of influenza A virus, which has 'Sample-in-answer-out' capability including sample pretreatment, rotary amplification, and optical detection. Target gene amplification was real-time monitored using the integrated Rotary Genetic Analyzer system.

In this paper, a low-jitter delay-locked loop that compensates for local clock skew is presented. The proposed DLL consists of a phase splitter, a phase detector(PD), a charge pump, a bias generator, a voltage-controlled delay line(VCDL), and a level converter. The VCDL uses self-biased delay cells using current mode logic(CML) to have insensitive characteristics to temperature and supply noises. The phase splitter generates two reference clocks which are used as the differential inputs of the VCDL. The PD uses the only single clock from the phase splitter because the PD in the proposed circuit uses CMOS logic that consumes less power compared to CML. Therefore, the output of the VCDL is also converted to the rail-to-rail signal by the level converter for the PD as well as the local clock distribution circuit. The proposed circuit has been designed with a $0.13-{\mu}m$ CMOS process. A global CLK with a frequency of 1-GHz is externally applied to the circuit. As a result, after about 19 cycles, the proposed DLL is locked at a point that the control voltage is 597.83mV with the jitter of 1.05ps.

A doppler shift is generated by moving a transmitter or receiver operated in communication systems. The doppler frequency shift between a transmitter and a receiver or the frequency offset present in transceivers must be removed to get the wanted system performance. FTS is used for preventing an accident from operating abnormally and for guaranteeing public protection. A launching vehicle's initial velocity is very fast in order to escape the earth and the amount of doppler shift is large. Recently many studies to adopt the next generation FTS are ongoing. To introduce new FTS, the effects of doppler shift on the performance of the new FTS must be studied. In this paper the doppler effect caused by launching vehicle's velocity affecting the performance of FTS receiver is investigated into two cases, one is for EFTS as a digital FTS and the other is for FTS using a tone signal. Noncoherent DPSK and noncoherent CPFSK are considered as the modulation methods of EFTS. In the cases of the doppler frequency shift of 200Hz present in EFTS using noncoherent DPSK and noncoherent CPFSK are simulated. Simulation results show that $E_b/N_o$ of 0.5dB deteriorates in the region of near BER of about $10^{-5}$ in RS coding. And there is no performance variation in $E_b/N_o$ or $E_b/N_o$ is worsened about 0.1dB in the same BER region for the case of using convolutional and BCH coding. Quadrature detector used in FTS using tone signals is not influenced by the doppler frequency shift.

This paper presents a structure of the searcher using a diversity in array antenna systems operating in the cdma2000 1x signal environments. The new technique exploits the fact that the In-phase and quadrature components of interferers can respectively be viewed as an independent gaussian noise at each antnna element in most practical cdma signal environments. The proposed PN acquisition scheme is a singles-dwell PN acquisition system consisting of two stages, that is, the searching stage and the verification stage. The searching stage independently correlates the receiver multiple signals with PN generator of each antenna element for obtaining the synchronous energy at the entire region. Then, the searching results of each antenna element are non-coherently combinind. The verification stage compares the searching energy with the optimal threshold, which is predesigned in the lock detector, and decides whether the acquisition is successful or fail. In this paper, we analyzed the effect of tile diversity order to determine the mean acquisition time. In general, it is known that the mean acquisition time significantly decrease as the number of antenna elements increases. But, as the diversity order goes up, the enhancement of the performance is saturated. Therefore, to decrease the mean acquisition time of the searcher, we must design the optimal array antenna systems by considering the operating SNR range of the receiver, the probability of detection $P_D$ and that of false alarm $P_{FA}$ . The Performance of the proposed PN acquisition scheme is analyzed in frequency selective Rayleigh fading channels. In this paper, the effect of the number of antenna elements on PN acquisition scheme is shown according to the probability of detection $P_D$ and that of false alarm $P_{FA}$.

Optical equipment consists of various components, and a detector is mounted and operated on aircraft, tanks, and warships for target detection and classification. The structural stability and optical performance of aeronautical optical equipment operated at several kilometers of altitude are degraded owing to vibration generated in the aircraft. It is necessary to verify the structural stability and optical performance requirements of the equipment in vibration environment conditions during the design phase. In this study, vibration environment conditions were analyzed using a test standard and the measurements of the vibration generated in aircraft. The conditions were classified as endurance and operating vibration conditions for structural stability and optical performance verification, respectively. The structural stability was verified according to natural frequency analysis, response analysis for the endurance vibration condition, and static analysis. The optical performance was verified by applying the vibration response analysis results to the optical design/analysis program.
Electroglottograph(EGG) is a signal recorded from the vocal cord vibration by measuring electrical impedance across the vocal folds through the neck skin. The purpose of this study was to develop EGG system and to evaluate possibility for the application on speech analysis and laryngeal disease diagnosis. EGG system was composed of two pairs of ring electrodes, tuned amplifier, phase sensitive detector, low pass filter, and auto-gain controller. It was designed to extract electric impedance after detecting by amplitude modulation method with 2.7MHz carrier signal. Extracted signals were transmitted through line-in of PC sound card, sampled and quantized. Closed Quotient(CQ), Speed Quotient(SQ), Speed Index(SI), fundamental frequency of vocal cord vibration(F0), pitch variability of vocal fold vibration (Jitter), and peak-to-peak amplitude variability of vocal fold vibration(Shimmer) were analyzed as EGG parameters. Experimental results were as follows: the faster vocal fold vibration, the higher values in CQ parameter and the lower values in SQ and SI parameters. EGG and speech signals had the same fundamental frequency. CQ, SQ, and SI were significantly different between normal subjects and patients with laryngeal cancer. These results suggest that it is possible to implement portable EGG system to monitor the function of vocal cord and to test functional changes of the glottis.
In order to investigate the light curve difference in visual and infrared wavelength of ${\delta}$ Scuti variable Bo Lyn, observations were performed using BOAO 1.8m reflecting telescope and an infrared detector, KASINICS, with J, H, and Ks filters. Infrared light curves of total 7 nights were obtained between March and April in 2011, and those were compared to the V-filter light curve to examine the differences in period, time of maximum light, amplitude, and shape. From the periodic analysis of infrared light curve, a single frequency of $f_1=10.712cycle/day$, $P=0.09335{\pm}0.00002days$ was obtained, and there was no difference in the period along different wavelengths. In the infrared light curve, a frequency of $2f_1$ was detected. This frequency well explains the asymmetric shape of light curve, one of the characteristics of high-amplitude ${\delta}$ Scuti variables. We compared the locations of the measured infrared maxima and the predicted maxima of V-filter, finding that the times of maxima were delayed about 0.3 phase at infrared wavelengths. Amplitude ratios were adopted to be ${\Delta}J/{\Delta}V=0.328$, ${\Delta}H/{\Delta}V=0.216$, and ${\Delta}Ks/{\Delta}V=0.211$, with the range of variation being smaller at longer wavelengths. It seems that the differences in the times of maxima and amplitude occurred because the changes in brightness of a pulsating variable star are mainly caused by the change in temperature.

The power-controlled six-port element that can control the local oscillator signal power and receiving RF signal power was designed and implemented in this paper. The direct conversion six-port element configuration was proposed, which provides the constant six-port output power by controlling the six-port input power with various signal strength. The direct conversion six-port element protects the power detector element of six-port receiver from the saturation status and compensates the transmission performance degradation. For implementation of power-controlled six-port element, the power-controlled six-port element including the power controller was analyzed. The implemented power-controlled six-port element shows the power control capability of 36 dB and gain imbalance of about 1.6 dB, phase imbalance of about $4^{\circ}$ in the frequency range of 1.69 GHz. The measured results show the good performance as direct conversion front-end element.

SOQPSK-TG is a modulated signal for aircraft telemetry with excellent frequency efficiency and power efficiency. In this paper, the phase waveform of the partial response SOQPSK-TG modulation is linearly approximated and modeled as a full response double duobinary SOQPSK (SOQPSK-DD) signal. And using the XTCQM method and the Laurent decomposition method, the SOQPSK-DD signal was approximated as OQPSK having linear pulse waveforms, and the results of the two methods were proved to be the same. In addition, it was confirmed that the Laurent decomposition waveform of the SOQPSK-DD signal approximates the Laurent decomposition waveform of the original SOQPSK-TG signal. And it was shown that the decision feedback IQ-detector, which applied the Laurent decomposition waveform of SOQPSK-DD to the detection filter, exhibits almost the same performance even with a simpler waveform than before.

It is required for getting the ring laser gyro output purely related to the input rotation to eliminate the output of the modulated angular vibration from the ring laser signal. In this paper we discuss the dither stripping methods of compensating the ring laser signal by converting the rate signal of dither detector from voltage to frequency for a dither type ring laser gyro. We discuss the differential methods for getting rid of the offset of the V-F signal. And we develope the methods of compensating the phase differences between the ring laser signals and the V-F differential signals by using analog integrator and digital time delays. And also, we develope the gain calculation method by comparing the standard deviations of the ring laser signals with V-F differential signals. We implemented these methods and analyzed the effectiveness of these methods by comparing the dither trapping methods.
