간이상수도 자동소독 정수기의 개발 및 성능에 관한 연구 (Development and Performance of Water Purifier with the Auto-Disinfected on a simple Drinking Water)

  • On the purpose of helping the inhabitants living in farming, fishing villages, and islands for more safe and hygienic water from simple waterworks, experimental investigations were performed concerning the development of a water purifier with silver nanomaterial packed, having a function of the auto-disinfection. The results show as follows through such filteration and auto-disinfection processes. It is possible to get hygienic and safe water, for example, more than 95% of general bacteria, total coliforms, and fecal coliforms were removed. It is also possible to get good-quality water, for 49.4% of spent potassium permanganate and 85% and 63% of turbidity and conductivity were removed respectively. It is a very effective equipment, for 100% cost reduction of used chemicals was achieved by no-chemical disinfection process and THM was not generated.

  • 방사성 낙진에 의한 우리나라 식품의 오염도를 파악할 목적으로 우리나라의 우유중의 스트론튬-90의 양을 측정하였다. 스트론튬의 분석은 발연질산법에 의하였으며, 스트론튬 단위로 결과를 정리하기 위하여 칼슘의 함량도 동시에 정량하였다. 방사능의 측정은 $^{90}$ Sr+$^{90}$ Y의 방사평형이 이루어진 후에 $^{90}$ Y의 방사능을 측정하였다. 액체 우유의 스트론튬-90의 함량이 가장 많았던 것은 1966년의 34.9 pCi$^{90}$ Sr/g.Ca이었으며, 1966년을 고비로 현저한 감소를 보여주고 있다. 분유의 스트론튬-90의 함량은 액체 우유와 같은 값을 보여 주고 있으며, 방사선 장해면에서 고려할때 안전한 함량임을 알 수 있다.

He-Polymer Microchip Plasma (PMP) System Incorporating a Gas Liquid Separator for the Determination of Chlorine Levels in a Sanitizer Liquid

  • The authors describe an analytical method to determine total chlorine in a sanitizer liquid, incorporating a lab-made He-rf-plasma within a PDMS polymer microchip. Helium was used instead of Ar to produce a plasma to achieve efficient Cl excitation. A quartz tube 1 mm i.d. was embedded in the central channel of the polymer microchip to protect it from damage. Rotational temperature of the He-microchip plasma was in the range 1350-3600 K, as estimated from the spectrum of the OH radical. Chlorine was generated in a volatilization reaction vessel containing potassium permanganate in combination of sulfuric acid and then introduced into the polymer microchip plasma (PMP). Atomic emission lines of Cl at 438.2 nm and 837.7 nm were used for analysis; no emission was observed for Ar plasma. The achieved limit of detection was 0.81 ${\mu}g\;mL^{-1}$ (rf powers of 30-70 W), which was sensitive enough to analyze sanitizers that typically contained 100-200 ${\mu}g\;mL^{-1}$ of free chlorine in chlorinated water. This study demonstrates the usefulness of the devised PMP system in the food sciences and related industries.

A Study on the Corrosion Behavior of Magnesium Alloy Sealed with Chemical Conversion Coating and Sol-gel Coating

  • Magnesium alloy is limited in the industrial field because its standard electrode potential is -2.363 V vs. NHE (Normal Hydrogen Electrode) at 25 ℃. This high electrochemical activity causes magnesium to quickly corrode with oxygen in air; chemical conversion coating prevents corrosion but causes surface defects like cracks and pores. We have examined the anti-corrosion effect of sol-gel coating sealed on the defected conversion coating layer. Sol-gel coatings produced higher voltage current and smaller pore than the chemical conversion coating layer. The conversion coating on magnesium alloy AZ31 was prepared using phosphate-permanganate solution. The sol-gel coating was designed using trimethoxymethylsilane (MTMS) and (3-Glycidyloxypropyl) trimethoxysilane (GPTMS) as precursors, and aluminum acetylacetonate as a ring-opening agent. The thermal shock resistance was tested by exposing specimens at 140 ℃ in a convection oven; the results showed changes in the magnesium alloy AZ31 surface, such as oxidization and cracking. Scanning electron microscope (FE-SEM) analysis confirmed a sealed sol-gel coating layer on magnesium alloy AZ31. Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) measured the differences in corrosion protection properties by sol-gel and conversion coatings in 0.35 wt% NaCl solution, and the potentiodynamic polarization test and confirmed conversion coating with the sol-gel coating show significantly improved resistance by crack sealing.

  • (η6-mesitylene) manganese (Ⅰ) tricarbonyl hexafluorophosphate[MTH-Mn (Ⅰ)]과 황산 이메틸, 피로탄산 이에틸, 과망간산 칼륨 따위 화학탐침들을 사용하여 Pseudomonas alcaligenes 5S rRNA의 고차원 구조를 분석하였다. 5S rRNA의 삼차구조에서 MTH-Mn (Ⅰ)이 강하게 절단하는 자리들은 a고리의 $G_{12}AUGG_{16}$, b-C 구역의 3'쪽 가닥, 즉$G_{51}AAGUGAAGC_{60}$, B-a구역의 $U_{65}-AGCG_{69}$, d고리의 5'쪽 가닥의 $G_{72}AUGG_{76}$ 연속부분 들이다. MTH-Mn(Ⅰ)과 그밖의 화학 탐침들을 사용하여 얻은 절단 양식들에서 우리는, MTH-Mn(Ⅰ)으로 강하게 절단되는 연속부분들이 $tRNA^{Phe}$의 L자 구조의 모서리 부분에서와 같은 주머니 구조를 이룰 것이며, 이러한 구조를 형성할 때 b-C구역과 d고리가 돌쩌귀 구실을 하는 것으로 추정한다.

누에고름병 바이러스와 흔굳음병균에 대한 포르말린 훈연소독 (Disinfection of Nuclear Polyhedrosis Virus and Yellow Muscardine pathogen (Beauveria bassiani) of Silkworm, Bombyx mori L., by Formalin Fumigation)

  • 포르말린에 과망간산카리(KMnO4)를 넣어 화학적 반응에 의하여 발생되는 포름알데히드 가스로 누에고름병 바이러스의 불활화와 흰굳음병균에 대한 소독시험을 실시하여 다음과 같은 결과를 얻었다. 1. 누에고름병 바이러스(Nuclear polyhedrosis virus)의 불활화는 잠실면적 3.3$m^2$당 포르말린 25$m\ell$에 과망간산카리 10g을 혼합하여 하룻방 동안 훈연소독을 실시하였을 때 상당한 수준의 소독효과가 있었고 같은 잠실단위 면적에 포르말린 75$m\ell$와 과망간산카리 30g을 혼합하여 하룻밤 동안 훈연상태를 유지하였을 때는 거의 완전한 불활화가 이루어졌다. 2. 노란굳음병균에 대한 살균효과는 잠실면적 3.3$m^2$당 포르말린 50$m\ell$에 과망간산카리 20g을 반응시켜 훈연소독을 실시하였을 때는 처리받은 균의 자람이 상당한 수준 억제되었고 같은 단위면적에 포르말린 75$m\ell$와 과망간산카리 30g을 혼합시켰을 때는 완전한 살균이 이루어졌다. 3. 포르말린 훈연소독에 의한 누에에 미치는 영향은 4령 1일째와 5령 1일째 2회와 4령 1일째, 5령 1,3일째 각 1회씩 3회를 처리하였을 때(훈연소독은 저녁급상후에 실시하고 다음날 아침 급상때까지 유지시킴) 전견종, 견층중, 견층비율, 유충기간(4-5령) 등에서는 무처리와 차이가 없었으나 3회 처리시에는 실품림새율은 무처리에 비하여 약간 떨어졌다.

  • 에탄올의 제조시 불순물로서 미량 생성되는 크로톤 알데히드를 수소와 반응시켜 n-부틸알콜로 전환하여 불포화 탄화수소를 제거하는 공정에 액상수소 첨가반응을 이용하고자 하며, 기존의 기상 수소첨가반응보다 월등한 에너지 절약 효과가 있다. 반응촉매는 내구성 및 가격 등 경제적인 측면을 고려하여 니켈촉매를 선택하였으며, 반응전화율의 측정은 PMT(permanganate time) test 방법을 적용하였다. PMT는 에탄올에 미량으로 함유되어 있는 크로톤알데히드의 초기농도 증가에 따라 급격히 감소하였으며, 크로톤 알데히드로부터 n-부틸알콜로의 수첨반응은 탄소-탄소 이중결합의 환원 후, 알데히드의 환원 과정이 연속적으로 일어나고, 각 반응단계는 0차 반응속도 상수를 가진다. 실험조건 범위 내에서는 반응 온도가 높을수록, LHSV가 느릴수록 PMT는 길어지고, 반응압력은 PMT와 거의 무관함을 보였다.

대청호 주원천 인공습지의 오염물질 정화효율 평가 (Evaluation of treatment efficiencies of pollutants in daecheong lake juwon stream constructed wetlands)

  • This study focused on evaluating the efficiency of the removal of non-point source pollution by Daecheong Lake Juwon Stream constructed wetlands. The constructed wetland system is a surface flow type designed in the year 2007 for purifying eutrophic water of Daecheong Lake Juwon Stream. The value of conductivity, suspended solids(SS), chemical oxygen demand using a potassium permanganate($COD_{Mn}$), five-day biochemical oxygen demand($BOD_5$), total nitrogen(T-N), total phosphorous(T-P), and pH in inflow averaged 220.2, 2.46, 3.33, 1.34, 2.00, 0.04 mg/L and 7.24, respectively and in outflow averaged 227.9, 1.12, 3.34, 0.87, 1.16, 0.02 mg/L and 7.45, respectively. The average removal efficiency of constructed wetlands was 30 % for SS, 22 % for $BOD_5$, 45 % for T-N and 31 % for T-P. The removal rates of SS, $BOD_5$ and T-N in the spring, summer and autumn were higher than those in winter. The removal rate of T-P was not significant different in all seasons. The amounts of pollutants removal in the constructed wetlands were higher in the order of $3^{rd}$ < $2^{nd}$ < $1^{st}$ wetland for SS and T-P, $2^{nd}$ < $3^{rd}$ < $1^{st}$ wetland for $BOD_5$ and T-N. Therefore, our findings suggest that the constructed wetlands could well treat the eutrophic Daecheong Lake Juwon Stream waters.

COD 측정분석 방법에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Comparison and Analysis of COD Results and Experimental Methods)

  • The Chemical Oxygen Demand(COD) by potassium permanganate and potassium dichromate is used as a measure of the organic matter content of a sample. Newly proposed $K_{2}Cr_{2}O_{7}$ analysis method to be list at Korean Official Method was made from analysis and comparison of the experimental process on Japanese Industrial Standard(JIS), American Open Reflux and Closed Reflux Methods. New $K_{2}Cr_{2}O_{7}$ method had better the qualitative and reproducible COD results than another methods as a result of the tested four times repeatedly by using Lakes water Plant wastewater. The COD data ratio by $KMnO_{4}$ and $K_{2}Cr_{2}O_{7}$ methods was 2-3, 3, 2-17 and 3-4 times respectively when its data had compared with the lakes water and treated water of domestic and experimental wastewater, and raw wastewater which is generated at the manufacturing process of 6 steps and treated wastewater of chemistry source. Its ratio indicated to 2-4 and 2-3 times respectively on raw wastewater and plant wastewater of Chemistry, rubber and plastic, fiber, metal molding source. Oxidation ratio of benzene and ethyl benzene by $KMnO_{4}$ method was nearly zero, but the oxidation ratio by $K$_{2}Cr_{2}O_{7}$ method was 50%, 70% respectively. Also, Oxidation ratio of phenol by $KMnO_{4}$ and $K_{2}Cr_{2}O_{7}$ methods was 80%, 100% respectively, and trichloroethylene and tetrachloroethylene were not nearly oxidizd by $KMnO_{4}$ and $K_{2}Cr_{2}O_{7}$ methods. As the above contents, oxidation ratio and COD results by $KMnO_{4}$ and $K_{2}Cr_{2}O_{7}$ were different from various from various compounds and samples respectively.

하천·호소의 유기물 지표 평가 (Index of Organic Matter in Stream and Lake)

  • This study discussed the appropriateness of organic matter indexes such as biochemical oxygen demand(BOD) and chemical oxygen demand with potassium permanganate($COD_{Mn}$) in water quality environmental standard of streams and lakes and the applicability of the items to water quality environmental standard to add or substitute COD with potassium dichromate ($COD_{Cr}$) and total organic carbon(TOC) being used as index of organic matter. And indexes of organic matter content and organic carbon concentration were distinguished between dissolved and particulate component in water sample to estimate their effect on pollutants loading in lake and stream. The ratio of $COD_{Cr}$/BOD was 5.1 under BOD concentration 3mg/L in river water quality environmental standard II, and 2.67 above it. This ratio was diminished to 2.04 when BOD concentration was more than 8mg/L, in river quality environmental standard IV. Also the ratio of $COD_{Mn}$/BOD showed 2.16 under 3mg/L(BOD), and 1.1 above it. This ratio is also diminished to 0.84 over 8mg/L(BOD). Accordingly, we should apply this ratio depending on the concentration level to add and change organic matter index of water quality environmental standard newly. The ratio $COD_{Cr}/COD_{Mn}$ both in lake and stream shows 2.37(r=0.986, p<0.001). But the ratios showed range of 2.34~2.50, which is no much difference of this ratio according to $COD_{Mn}$ concentration.
