  • High blood pressure causes various cardiovascular diseases and is associated with mortality. Periodic self-monitoring and recording of blood pressure is very helpful in preventing the occurrence of secondary diseases caused by hypertension. However, existing cuff-type blood pressure monitors have many limitations. As an alternative of that, a method of estimating the blood pressure by measuring the velocity change of the blood flow using the photo plethysmography is widely known. However, photo plethysmography have a low correlation with blood flow. So, we will propose an algorithm for estimating blood pressure using the relationship between velocity change of blood flow measured by magnetic field instead of photo plethysmography and electrocardiogram. For this purpose, First, we analyzed the correlation between photo plethysmography and magneto plethysmography. the correlation between MPG and PPG was r = 0.9449. Second, we compared estimated blood pressure and measured blood pressure. In the four experiment each result was r = 0.5737, r = 0.7863, r = 0.5669, and r = 0.7445.

  • In this study, we performed a numerical analysis to investigate the effect of rotation on the blood flow and arterial wall behavior by using the FSI (fluid-structure interaction) technique. The geometry of the artery included 50% stenosis at the center. To simulate the rotational effect, 2-6 rps of axial velocity was applied to the arterial model. A spiral wave and asymmetric flow occurred due to the stenosis and axial rotation both in the rigid body model and in the FSI model. However, the arterial wall motion caused periodic and transient blood flow changes in the FSI model. The FRZ (fluid recirculation zone) decreased in the FSI model, which is a known predictor for the formation and vulnerability of plaque. Therefore, it is observed that arterial wall motion also influences the generation of the FRZ.

  • Using the acoustic resonances and oscillatory pulsations considered as the branch of wave technologies, the concept of the acoustic resonance diffusers for waste water treatment which maximize the oxygen transfer efficiency in gas-liquid two phase medium have been proposed, and studies for the principles and performance tests were accomplished. Besides, the design concepts for the low pressure Helmholtz resonator, cylinder and annular type reflection resonator and combined type resonance system have been implemented. The acoustic resonance energy which can speed up the mass transfer process increase the oxygen transfer efficiency, and periodic pulsations generated from the instability of air jet from nozzle make very small air bubbles. Then, the annular type jet resonator(AJR) applying these two principles successfully was evalulated as the most promising device and also the efficiency showing $20{\sim}30%$ better than conventional diffusers has been verified experimentally.

  • In this paper, the transfer characteristics of high frequency transmission line having defected ground structure (DGS) and lumped elements are described. When a DGS, which is a kind of periodic structure, is inserted into a transmission line, its equivalent inductance and capacitance elements are added to the characteristics of the standard transmission line. This generates resonance, 3dB cut-off frequency, low-pass, band rejection, and band pass characteristics, and causes a slow-wave and enlarged electrical length of the transmission line. In addition, if the DGS is combined by a lumped element such as resistor, capacitor, and inductor, the resonant and cut-off frequencies moves up or down and other changes occur in the transmission characteristics. The variation of the transmission characteristics is described with the qualitative prediction and measured data.

  • Harmonic analysis enables to characterize patterns of variation in MODIS NDVI time series data and track changes in ground vegetation cover. In harmonic analysis, a periodic phenomenon of time series data is decomposed into the sum of a series of sinusoidal waves and an additive term. Each wave is defined by an amplitude and a phase angle and accounts for the portion of variance of complex curve. In this study, harmonic analysis was explored to tract ground vegetation variation through time for land-cover vegetation change detection. The process also enables to reconstruct observed time series data including various noise components. Harmonic model was tested with simulation data to validate its performance. Then, the suggested change detection method was applied to MODIS NDVI time series data over the study period (2006-2012) for a selected test area located in the northern plateau of Korean peninsula. The results show that the proposed approach is potentially an effective way to understand the pattern of NDVI variation and detect the change for long-term monitoring of land cover.

  • This paper presents an integrated analysis of production and financing decisions. We assume that a cash storage unit is installed to manage the cash flows related with production activities such as raw material procurement, process operating setup, Inventory holding cost and finished product sales. Temporarily financial investments are allowed for more profit. The production plant is modeled by the Batch-Storage Network with Recycle Streams in Yi and Reklaitis (2003). The objective function of the optimization is minimizing the opportunity costs of annualized capital investment and cash/material inventory while maximizing stockholder's benefit. No depletion of all the material and cash storage units is major constraints of the optimization. A novel production and inventory analysis formulation, the PSW(Periodic Square Wave) model, provides useful expressions for the upper/lower bounds and average level of the cash and material inventory holdups. The expressions for the Kuhn-Tucker conditions of the optimization problem can be reduced to two subproblems and analytical lot sizing equations under a mild assumption about the cash flow pattern of stockholder's dividend. The first subproblem is a separable concave minimization network flow problem whose solution yields the average material flow rates through the networks. The second subproblem determines the decisions about financial Investment. Finally, production and financial transaction lot sizes and startup times can be determined by analytical expressions as far as the average flow rates are calculated. The optimal production lot and storage sizes considering financial factors are smaller than those without such consideration. An illustrative example is presented to demonstrate the results obtainable using this approach.

  • This paper presents an integrated analysis of supply chain and financing decisions of multi-national corporation. We construct a model in which multiple currency storage units are installed to manage the currency flows associated with multi-national supply chain activities such as raw material procurement, process operation, inventory control, transportation and finished product sales. Core contribution of this study is to quantitatively investigate the influence of macroscopic economic factors such as exchange rates and taxes on operational decisions. The supply chain is modeled by the Process-Storage Network with recycle streams. The objective function of the optimization is minimizing the opportunity costs of annualized capital investments and currency/material inventories minus the benefit to stockholders interpreted by home currency. The major constraints of the optimization are that the material and currency storage units must not be depleted. A production and inventory analysis formulation, the periodic square wave (PSW) model, provides useful expressions for the upper/lower bounds and average levels of the currency and material inventory holdups. The expressions for the Kuhn-Tucker conditions of the optimization problem are reduced to a subproblem and analytical lot sizing equations. The procurement, production, transportation and financial transaction lot sizes can be determined by analytical expressions after the average flow rates are already known. We show that, when corporate income tax is taken into consideration, the optimal production lot and storage sizes are smaller than is the case when such factors are not considered typically by 20 %.

  • In this paper, we propose a chaotic correlation delay shift keying(CDSK) using digital retrodirective array antenna (RDA) for improving security and receive performance. Chaotic signals provide improved security due to non-periodic and non-predictable performance of chaotic signals. However, the receive performance of these chaotic signals is degraded due to self-interference and interference signals. Therefore, this paper, we analyze the receive BER performance of chaos communication system which has digital RDA based on CDSK modulation schemes for improving security without receive performance degradation. Simulation results show that the proposed system can get the same receiving performance compared to BPSK modulation schemes when array elements of RDA are 5.

  • The lattice Boltzman method (LBM) and the finite difference-based lattice Boltzmann method (FDLBM) are quite recent approaches for simulating fluid flow, which have been proven as valid and efficient tools in a variety of complex flow problems. They are considered attractive alternatives to conventional finite-difference schemes because they recover the Navier-Stokes equations and are computationally more stable, and easily parallelizable. However, most models of the LBM or FDLBM are for incompressible fluids because of the simplicity of the structure of the model. Although some models for compressible thermal fluids have been introduced, these models are for monatomic gases, and suffer from the instability in calculations. A lattice BGK model based on a finite difference scheme with an internal degree of freedom is employed and it is shown that a diatomic gas such as air is successfully simulated. In this research we present a 2-dimensional edge tone to predict the frequency characteristics of discrete oscillations of a jet-edge feedback cycle by the FDLBM in which any specific heat ratio $\gamma$ can be chosen freely. The jet is chosen long enough in order to guarantee the parabolic velocity profile of a jet at the outlet, and the edge is of an angle of $\alpha$=23$^{o}$. At a stand-off distance w, the edge is inserted along the centerline of the jet, and a sinuous instability wave with real frequency is assumed to be created in the vicinity of the nozzle exit and to propagate towards the downstream. We have succeeded in capturing very small pressure fluctuations resulting from periodic oscillation of the jet around the edge.
