비대칭 형상 파력발전 로터의 선형 거동에 대한 수치적·실험적 연구 (Numerical and Experimental Study on Linear Behavior of Salter's Duck Wave Energy Converter)

  • Among the various wave power systems, Salter's duck (rotor) is one of the most effective wave absorbers for extracting wave energy. The rotor shape is designed such that the front part faces the direction of the incident wave, which forces it to bob up and down due to wave-induced water particle motion, whereas the rear part, which is mostly circular in shape, reflects no waves. The asymmetric geometric shape of the duck makes it absorb energy efficiently. In the present study, the rotor was investigated using WAMIT (a program based on the linear potential flow theory in three-dimensional diffraction/radiation analyses) in the frequency domain and verified using OrcaFlex (design and analysis program of marine system) in the time domain. Then, an experimental investigation was conducted to assess the performance of the rotor motion based on the model scale in a two-dimensional (2D) wave tank. Initially, a free decay test (FDT) was carried out to obtain the viscous damping coefficient. The pitch response was extracted from the experimental time series in a periodic regular wave for two different wave heights (1 cm and 3 cm). In addition, the viscous damping coefficient was calculated from the FDT result and fluid forces, obtained from WAMIT, are incorporated into the final response of the rotor. Finally, a comparative study based on experimental and numerical results (WAMIT & OrcaFlex) was performed to confirm the performance reliability of the designed rotor.

  • A numerical investigation is made of unsteady double-diffusive convection of a Boussinesq fluid in a rectangular cavity subject to time-periodic thermal excitations. The fluid is initially stratified between the top endwall of low solute concentration and the bottom endwall of high solute concentration. A time-dependent heat flux varying in a square wave fashion, is applied on one sidewall to induce buoyant convection. The influences of the imposed periodicity on double-diffusive convection are scrutinized. A special concern is on the occurrence of resonance that the fluctuations of flow and attendant heat and mass transfers are mostly amplified at certain eigenmodes of the fluid system. Numerical solutions are analyzed to illustrate the characteristic features of resonant convection.

  • Flow instability is investigated in a two-dimensional channel with thin baffles placed symmetrically in the vertical direction and periodically in the streamwise dircetion. At low Reynolds numbers, the flow is steady and symmetric. Above a critical Reynolds number, the steady flow undergoes a Hopf bifurcation leading to unsteady periodic flow. As Reynolds number further increases, we observe the onset of secondary instability. At high Reynolds numbers, the two-dimensional periodic flow becomes three dimmensional. To identify the onset of secondary instability, we carry out Floquet stability analysis. We obseved the transition to 3D flow at a Reynolds number of about 125. Also, we computed dominant spanwise wavenumbers near the critical Reynolds number, and visualized vortical structures associated with the most unstable spanwise wave.

  • 임의의 편파로서 비스듬한 각도록 입사하는 전자파의경우에 대한 접지돈 유전체층 위에 놓여있는 주기적인 스트립격자 구조에서의 특이한 희절현상을 샘플링 정리와 파수영역 방법을 사용하여 해석하였다. 수치적 결과는 임의의 편파와 TE 및 TM편파가 입사되는 경우에 대하여 각각 Bragg 및 Off-Bragg blazing현상을 확인하고 이에 관하여 논의하였다.

  • 본 논문에서는 유전체 판상의 스트립 회절격자에 의한 TE 평면파의 산란문제에 관한 효율적인 수렴해를 제시하였다. 본 논문의 방법은 등가 원리에 따라서 단락된 슬롯 위에 놓여진 등가 자계 전류를 적절한 모서리 조건을 만족하는 Chebyshev 다항식의 급수로서 전개하는데 기초를 둔다. 본 논문의 정확도와 수렴 속도를 입증하기 위해 반사 계수와 투과 계수에 대한 수치적인 결과를 계산하여 다른 결과와 비교하였다.

  • In this present the transient control of SBS chaos induced instability in Brillouin-active fiber systems is described. The inherent optical feedback by the backscattered Stokes wave in optical fiber systems leads to instabilities in the form of optical chaos. At weak power, the nature of the Brillouin instability can occur at before threshold. At strong power, the temporal evolution above threshold is periodic and at higher intensity can become chaotic. Multistable periodic states, makes transition to logic 'on' or 'off'. It can make theoretically potential large memory capacity.

  • In this paper, the implementation of MAI(multiple access interference)-cancelled SSMA(spread spectrum multiple access) system using orthogonal carriers was presented. Employing the pseudo periodic spreading codes and orthogonal carriers frequency offset, proposed system have the features no MAI during a certain local time-duration. Spreading signals designed by pseudo periodic method and repetition, have zero correlation duration(ZCD) by orthogonal frequency shift method. The SSMA modem has been designed and implemented using surface-acoustic-wave(SAW) device as the matched filter of receiver. The effects of frequency offset on stability have been evaluated using computer simulation.

Photothermoelastic interactions under Moore-Gibson-Thompson thermoelasticity

  • In the present work, a new photothermoelastic model based on Moore-Gibson-Thompson theory has been constructed. The governing equationsfor orthotropic photothermoelastic plate are simplified for two-dimension model. Laplace and Fourier transforms are employed after converting the system of equations into dimensionless form. The problem is examined due to various specified sources. Moving normal force, ramp type thermal source and carrier density periodic loading are taken to explore the application of the assumed model. Various field quantities like displacements, stresses, temperature distribution and carrier density distribution are obtained in the transformed domain. The problem is validated by numerical computation for a given material and numerical obtained results are depicted in form of graphs to show the impact of varioustheories of thermoelasticity along with impact of moving velocity, ramp type and periodic loading parameters. Some special cases are also explored. The results obtained in this paper can be used to design various semiconductor elements during the coupled thermal, plasma and elastic wave and otherfieldsin thematerialscience, physical engineering.

YIG 단결정 박막에 대한 정자파의 온도의존성 연구 (Temperature Dependence of Magnetostatic Waves on the YIG Single Crystalline Thin Film)

  • LPE(liquid phase epitaxy)방법으로 제작한 YIG 단결정 박막의 정자파(MSW; magnetostatic wave) 모드의 온도의존성을 조사하기 위하여 온도를 -14$0^{\circ}C$에서 20$0^{\circ}C$까지 2$0^{\circ}C$간격으로 변화하면서 강자성공명 실험을 하였다. 시편면과 외부자기장을 평행하게 가할 때 모든 온도에서 주기적인 신호로 나타나는 정자표면파와 정자역체적파 모드를 관측하였다 온도가 감소함에 따라 정자파 모드들은 저자장쪽으로 이동하고 세기가 감소하였고, 각 모드들 사이의 간격은 증가하였다. 온도변화에 따른 정자파 모드를 Walker와 Damon-Eshbach 이론으로 분석한 결과 잘 일치하였다. 온도별로 계산한 포화자화값은 온도가 감소함에 따라 증가하였다. 관측된 정자파 모드의 선폭은 온돈가 감소함에 따라 다양하게 변화하였다.

X-밴드 선형/원형 편파 변환기의 설계 및 근거리장 해석 (Design and Near-Field Analysis of X-Band Linear/Circular Polarizer)

  • 본 논문에서는 수평 편파를 원형 편파로 변환시키기는 평행평판 도파관 격자 구조의 편파 변환기를 제안하였다. 편파 변환기의 설계는 입사파가 평면파이고 무한 주기 구조라는 가정하에 적분방정식을 이용한 모멘트법과 Floquet 이론을 적용하여, X-밴드에서 최적화된 평판 격자간의 간격 및 전파 진행방향으로의 길이를 결정하였다. 설계를 통해 제작된 편파 변환기를 모델로 하여 유한 주기 구조와 근거리장에 대한 해석을 MATLAB을 이용해 계산하고, 근거리장 배치 하에서 측정된 결과와 비교하여 근거리장 해석에 대한 타당성을 검증하였다. 설계에서의 가정에 대한 오차를 분석하여 개선된 특성을 갖는 편파 변환기의 수정된 설계값을 제시하였다.
