A Study on Classification and Arrangement of Art Archives (예술기록의 분류와 정리에 관한 연구)

  • Archival arrangement is essential process to preserve the context of art archives creation and accumulation while classification is important to search archival collections by their topic, type or business process. But archival arrangement is not being taken seriously in most art archives in Korea. The purpose of this study is to analyse the arrangement and classification issues of art archives in Korea, and to suggest some principles and strategies for organizing art archives more systematically. This paper begins with identifying the difference between arrangement and classification and analyses some cases of visual and performing art archives in Korea and United States in terms of archival organization. Based on these analyses, it gives some suggestions for improving the quality of arrangement and classification in Korean art archives.

  • Performing arts are composite art forms made through the collective participation of people who are responsible for a variety of roles with a multidimensional context. This study presents an analysis of the context to be expressed in the process of the arrangement and description of records of performing arts, with a focus on the relationship between performance work and performance planning, the relationship between performance planning and individual performance, the relationship between performance and people who participated in the performance, relationship between records and records, and the relationship between performance and records. With this, this study proposes a logical hierarchical structure that is required to express the context of the inner relationship of performing arts archives. It also suggests a model of sequential organization to describe the inner logic of the relationship between records and records.

  • Theater is a performing art with a volatile feature which exists when it is performed on the stage by actors and disappears when it is finished. Due to its intangible characteristic It is not only impossible to just hand it down but also there is a high possibility that materials which have been produced during the preparations of performance might be lost If it was not been properly taken care. The study which has been conducted from the existing such a problem, understand produceable records, the point where the records can be produced and the main body who is in charge of the production process by analysing performing process of theater and also propose the general method of documentation of theater by introducing the method of collecting each records. Such an introduction of method would help to progress acquisition activity by setting-up documentation planning at the stage of planning theater beforehand, rather than just help to gather the corresponding records after the performance is finished.

  • The performing art is a genre which is integrated of various fields of arts, and Stage Make-up as well. Stage Make-up functions as an important means of communication which makes audience understand the characteristic facts by transforming an actor/actress into the character in the play and also, visually enlarging characters. Due to the creativeness of Stage Make-up, the conceptual study on Stage Make-up design for visual expression coincide with the intended character is needed. However, in Korea, the systematical approach for Stage Make-up design by character types has not developed, or studied yet, The result of this study is to present system model through theoretical study of psychological personality types. and to apply for the expression of characters in the play based on physiognomy(face-reading), The case study of visualizing according to an actor/actress's shape of face. is Specially focused on eyes and eyebrows. In designing Stage Make-up, eyes and eye brows are important elements as a tool for strong expression of the characters. This model of Stage Make-up design by personal type constructed in this study, is for applying methodically as professional approach on actual Stage Make-up design and educational teaching methods as well.
