We study the structures and dynamics of flows generated by ultra-relativistic jets on kpc scales through three-dimensional relativistic hydrodynamics (RHD) simulations. We employ a newly developed RHD code, equipped with the WENO-Z reconstruction, the SSPRK time discretization, and an equation of state that closely approximates the single-component perfect gas in relativistic regime. Exploring a set of models with various parameters, we confirm that the well-known Fanaroff-Riley dichotomy is primarily determined by the jet power, whereas the morphology of simulated jets also depends on the secondary parameters such as the momentum injection rate and the ratio of the jet to background pressure. Utilizing high resolution capabilities of the newly developed code, we examine in detail the dynamical properties of complex flows in different parts of jet-produced structures, and present the statistics of nonlinear dynamics such as shock, shear, and turbulence.

Space-Time Block Code(STBC) provides full diversity gains with simple linear processing at the receiver. Interference Cancellation(IC) techniques in system using STBC improve the capacity and performance of wireless systems with co-channel users. Various IC techniques, Minimum Mean-Squared Error(MMSE) and Zero-Forcing(ZF) algorithms in system with STBC were proposed in the literatures in multiuser environment. The performance of these IC techniques were simulated by assuming perfect channel state information(CSI) of multiuser at the receiver. However, in practice it is difficult to know perfect CSI of multiuser at the receiver. Thus, channel estimation scheme is essential at the receiver. Also SNR estimation scheme is required to operate the MMSE IC algorithm. In this paper, we present estimation schemes of CSI and SNR using training sequences. Through extensive computer simulation, we compare and evaluate the performance of IC techniques using the proposed CSI and SNR estimation techniques.
In the current study, the influence of the initial lateral (sweep) shape and the cross-sectional twist imperfection on the lateral torsional buckling (LTB) response of doubly-symmetric steel I-beams was investigated. The material imperfection (residual stress) was not considered. For this objective, standard European IPN 300 beam with different unbraced span was numerically analyzed for three imperfection cases: (i) no sweep and no twist (perfect); (ii) three different shapes of global sweep (half-sine, full-sine and full-parabola between the end supports); and (iii) the combination of three different sweeps with initial sinusoidal twist along the beam. The first comparison was done between the results of numerical analyses (FEM) and both a theoretical solution and the code lateral torsional buckling formulations (EC3 and AISC-LRFD). These results with no imperfection effects were then separately compared with three different shapes of global sweep and the presence of initial twist in these sweep shapes. Besides, the effects of the shapes of initial global sweep and the inclusion of sinusoidal twist on the critical buckling load of the beams were investigated to unveil which parameter was considerably effective on LTB response. The most compatible outcomes for the perfect beams was obtained from the AISC-LRFD formulation; however, the EC-3 formulation estimated the $P_{cr}$ load conservatively. The high difference from the EC-3 formulation was predicted to directly originate from the initial imperfection reduction factor and high safety factor in its formulation. Due to no consideration of geometric imperfection in the AISC-LFRD code solution and the theoretical formulation, the need to develop a practical imperfection reduction factor for AISC-LRFD and theoretical formulation was underlined. Initial imperfections were obtained to be more influential on the buckling load, as the unbraced length of a beam approached to the elastic limit unbraced length ($L_r$). Mode-compatible initial imperfection shapes should be taken into account in the design and analysis stages of the I-beam to properly estimate the geometric imperfection influence on the $P_{cr}$ load. Sweep and sweep-twist imperfections led to 10% and 15% decrease in the $P_{cr}$ load, respectively, thus; well-estimated sweep and twist imperfections should considered in the LTB of doubly-symmetric steel I-beams.
Background: In this study, we investigated how to convert the Panax ginseng DNA sequence code and chemical fingerprints into a two-dimensional code. In order to improve the compression efficiency, GATC2Bytes and digital merger compression algorithms are proposed. Methods: HPLC chemical fingerprint data of 10 groups of P. ginseng from Northeast China and the internal transcribed spacer 2 (ITS2) sequence code as the DNA sequence code were ready for conversion. In order to convert such data into a two-dimensional code, the following six steps were performed: First, the chemical fingerprint characteristic data sets were obtained through the inflection filtering algorithm. Second, precompression processing of such data sets is undertaken. Third, precompression processing was undertaken with the P. ginseng DNA (ITS2) sequence codes. Fourth, the precompressed chemical fingerprint data and the DNA (ITS2) sequence code were combined in accordance with the set data format. Such combined data can be compressed by Zlib, an open source data compression algorithm. Finally, the compressed data generated a two-dimensional code called a quick response code (QR code). Results: Through the abovementioned converting process, it can be found that the number of bytes needed for storing P. ginseng chemical fingerprints and its DNA (ITS2) sequence code can be greatly reduced. After GTCA2Bytes algorithm processing, the ITS2 compression rate reaches 75% and the chemical fingerprint compression rate exceeds 99.65% via filtration and digital merger compression algorithm processing. Therefore, the overall compression ratio even exceeds 99.36%. The capacity of the formed QR code is around 0.5k, which can easily and successfully be read and identified by any smartphone. Conclusion: P. ginseng chemical fingerprints and its DNA (ITS2) sequence code can form a QR code after data processing, and therefore the QR code can be a perfect carrier of the authenticity and quality of P. ginseng information. This study provides a theoretical basis for the development of a quality traceability system of traditional Chinese medicine based on a two-dimensional code.
In this paper, we examined the possibility of the transmission capacity increase by an extension and a modification of ATSC 8-VSB transmission system[1] for broadcasting a 3D HDTV services through 6 MHz terrestrial channel. First we examined the performance and the limit of conventional ATSC 8-VSB transmission system. After that LDPC & BCH code are employed instead of conventional RS & TCM code and the transmission parameter is founded for the capacity increase with resonable TOV by varying the code-rates and increasing the modulation constellation. We do not consider the perfect backward compatibility for maximum transmission capacity increase like DVB-S2 system.
For alleviating the low spectrum efficiency problem of orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM), due to the strong inter-cell-interference (ICI) at cell's edge, we introduce comb-spectrum code division multiple access (CS-CDMA) into broadband OFDM system at downlink channel for enabling the use of entire spectrum for seamless coverage. In addition, we develop a new method, called orthogonal cell code (OCC) scheme, to assist CS-CDMA for nullifying the ICI from contiguous cells. In system operation, each of the conventional cells is divided into an outer cell and an inner cell, and a mobile station (MS) should access to the CS-CDMA when it is in the outer cell and access to OFDM when it is in the inner cell. This study investigates the spectrum efficiency of using CS-CDMA and makes a comparison with that of long term evolution (LTE) in the following cases; (1) under an assumption of perfect channel state information and (2) based on channel estimates at a MS station. The results show the great advantage of utilizing the proposed system.

A program based on a 2-D CFD code has been developed to simulate a gas turbine engine. 2-D Navier-Stokes implicit code with $k-\omega$ turbulent model is used in compressor and turbine. Lumped method chemical equilibrium code with 10 species of molecular is applied to combustor with assuming perfect mixture and 100% combustion efficiency at constant pressure state. Fluid properties are shared on interfaces between engine components. Compressor supplies outlet temperature and pressure to combustor. At the same time, combustor also carries temperature and pressure to turbine. The back pressure of compressor outlet is transferred by inlet pressure of turbine. Unsteady phenomena in rotor-stator are covered by mixing-plane method. The running condition of engine can be determined only by given the inlet condition of compressor, the outlet condition of turbine, equivalence ratio and rotating speed.

Reed-Solomon code, block interleaving and SI (side information) are frequently used in SFH (slow frequency hopping) system. Erasing those symbols in the hit frequency slot greatly increases the error connection capacity. Packet error rate has been the major performance measure for SFH system. The analysis of BER has been limited to the case of perfect Sl, in which neither miss nor false alarm exists. BER with imperfect Sl has been obtained only by Monte Carlo simulation. In this paper, we present a unified solution to estimate BER with imperfect Sl. It is shown that previous formulae for packet error rate or BER with perfect Sl are special cases in the proposed solution. The computed BER with false alarm and miss of frequency hit is verified by comparing with the simulation result.

In this paper, by considering the real UWA channel environments, the measured channel data is used to generate the UWA channel model and calculate the relative parameters for underwater OFDM systems. Practical least square (LS) based channel estimation with linear interpolation are adopted to obtain the channel state information (CSI) at receiver side. As multi-input multi-output (MIMO) processing techniques, Alamouti code is implemented and evaluated to perform for space time block coding (STBC) and space frequency block coding (SFBC) for UWA OFDM systems with the MIMO configuration of $2{\times}1$, at the same time, $1{\times}2$ maximum ratio combining (MRC) is performed for the purpose of comparison. The simulation results show that, with perfect channel estimation, SFBC failed to work duo to the serious frequency selectivity of UWA channel environments. When the practical channel estimation is applied, in the case of STBC, the proposed 4-column pilot pattern gives better performance about 7dB than SISO system.
