전시공간에서의 장면에 의한 공간지각 표현방법에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Expression Methods of Space Perception by the Scene in the Exhibition Space)

  • The purpose of this study was to find the space perception by the scene and to analyze the characteristics in the exhibition space. The data for the analysis was collected through a questionnaire survey method. The questionnaire is composed of a scene selection on the panoramic photographs of the exhibition space. 'The 4 Rivers Cultural Center - The ARK' was selected as the subject of this survey. The results of the study are presented as follows : First, the space perception perceived imaged scenes rather than the specific elements of space. Second, the space perception was revealed through the 'Form', 'Materials', 'Light', 'Lighting', 'Furniture' and 'Media' of notable elements. Also that was perceived by forming 'Line', 'Surface' and 'Volume'. Particularly, the perception of 'Surface' was higher than 'Line' and 'Volume'. 'Surface' was perceived mostly through the 'Color'. The perception of 'Line' was positive to 'Boundary' or 'Continuous placement of the light'. In addition, the perception of 'Volume' was positive to 'The curve of the form', 'Transparent material', 'Three-dimensional elements'. Finally, The type of space perception was chosen as 'Extension', 'Center', 'Deep', 'Boundary' and 'Formative'. In this way, the results of this study will set a foundation for developing design methods to induce the space perception by the scene in the exhibition space.

가상현실을 통한 볼륨렌더링 깊이 인식 향상 (Improvement Depth Perception of Volume Rendering using Virtual Reality)

  • 직접볼륨렌더링(DVR)은 3차원 볼륨 데이터의 내부 구조를 시각화하는 데 일반적으로 사용되는 방법이다. 그러나, 2차원 디스플레이 상의 기존의 볼륨 렌더링은 광선 투사법에 의한 차원 감소로 인해 깊이 인식이 부족하다. 본 연구에서는 가상현실이 볼륨렌더링의 유용성을 어떻게 향상시킬 수 있는지 조사한다. 우리는 가상 현실에서 실시간 고해상도 볼륨렌더링 시스템을 개발하고 38명의 참가자를 통한 사용자 연구를 통해 깊이 인식의 향상에 따른 볼륨렌더링의 유용성을 측정한다. 결과는 가상 현실이 뛰어난 깊이 인식을 가능하게 함으로써 볼륨렌더링의 유용성을 향상 시킨다는 것을 보여준다.

식기류와 식판을 이용한 밥, 국과 반찬들의 인지량, 섭취량 및 포만도의 비교분석 (Comparative Analysis of Perception Volume, Intake Volume, and Satiety Rate of Rice, Soup and Side Dishes Using Tableware and Food Tray)

  • The perception volume, intake volume, and satiety rate of rice, soup, and side dishes using tableware and food trays were analyzed. Rice, beef, soup, and side dishes in tableware (1st week) and the same menu in food trays (2nd week) were served to twenty-nine female college students over two consecutive weeks (BMI 22.1 kg/㎡, Age 22.9 yr). The results showed that the perceived volume of soup served in tableware was significantly higher than when served in a food tray. On the other hand, except for the perception volume of soup (tableware: 174.80±19.40 g, food tray: 136.14±12.77 g, P<0.05), there was no significant difference in the food perception volume and food intake volume using tableware and food trays between the two groups. The satiety rate of the food tray group (6.68) was significantly higher than that of the tableware group (7.42) after one hour (P<0.05). However, except after one hour, the two groups' satiety rate showed a similar pattern. In most of the comparisons, the results showed no difference between table ware and food trays. Besides, the use of food trays has advantages in terms of easy to manage and convenience. Therefore, food trays might be a better option instead of a tableware.

정상체중인과 비만인의 음료와 컵 색상에 따른 인지량의 차이에 관한 연구 (Difference in Volume Perception According to Beverage or Cup Color in Normal Weight and Obese College Students)

  • We examined the perception of volume in college students with a normal weight versus those students with obesity. College students were divided into a normal weight group (<23 body mass index, n=121) and an obese group (${\geq}23$ body mass index, n=110), The perception of volume was measured under different beverage colors (colorless, black, yellow, and blue) and cup colors (colorless, black, yellow, and blue) containing the same amount of liquid (150 ml). We found that the normal weight group perceived significantly more liquid in a cup with a blue beverage versus a colorless one. The obese group perceived significantly more liquid in a cup with a yellow or blue beverage versus a colorless one. In terms of cup color, the normal weight group perceived significantly more liquid in a black color cup compared to a blue color cup. However, there were no differences in perceived volume according to the color of cup among the obese group. There were no significant differences in the perceived volume between the normal and obese group under all conditions tested. In conclusion, beverage and cup color effects volume perception in normal weight students, while only beverage color effects volume perception in obese students. Therefore, controlling, the color of beverages and cups may help to control the consumption of drinks.

비만 여성과 정상체중 여성의 밥그릇 크기와 색상에 따른 백미밥 인지량의 차이 (Difference in Volume Perception of Cooked White Rice according to Size and Color of Rice Bowl in Normal and Obese Women)

  • To examine the effect of obesity on volume perception according to size and color of rice bowl, we divided female college students into a normal weight group (<30% fat mass, n=100) and obese group (${\geq}30%$ fat mass, n=83) and then measured perceived volume of rice bowls of various sizes (general size; 350 ml vs. small size; 188 ml) and color (yellow, white, blue, and black) containing the same amount of cooked white rice (210 g). Normal weight group perceived that the general rice bowl contained significantly more cooked white rice compared to the small rice bowl. In contrast, the obese group perceived that the general rice bowl contained significantly less cooked white rice than the small rice bowl. The estimated variance in perceived volume of both bowls was significantly bigger in the obese group compared to the normal group. There were no differences in perceived volume among any of the subjects (both normal and obese groups) according to rice bowl color. However, the estimated variance in perceived volume in the obese group was significantly larger than that in the normal group for all of the rice bowls. In conclusion, rice bowl size and color might affect volume perception, and volume perception in obese people may be different from that of normal weight people.

정상체중과 과체중 여대생을 대상으로 컵의 형태에 따른 인지량의 차이에 관한 연구 (Difference in Volume Perception according to Cup Shape in Normal Weight and Overweight Female College Students)

  • The volume perception of water according to cup shape was examined in female college students divided into a normal weight group (<23 body mass index, n=51) and an overweight group (${\geq}$23 body mass index, n=48). The perceived water volume was recorded by participants after they observed the water volume in cups with different shape (highball and tumbler) and with different base height (high base and low base), which contained the same amount of water (150 ml). The normal weight group perceived a water volume of 238.5 ml (highball) and 201.6 ml (tumbler) for the high base cups. The overweight group perceived a volume of 245.6 ml (highball) and 188.8 ml (tumbler). For the low base cups, the normal weight group perceived a water volume of 207.8 ml (highball) and 104.1 ml (tumbler). The overweight group perceived a volume of 202.2 ml (highball) and 100.4 ml (tumbler). Both the normal weight and overweight groups perceived significantly more liquid in the highball cups compared to the tumbler cups. In addition, both groups perceived significantly more liquid in the high base cups compared to the low base cups. However, there were no significant differences in the estimated variance of perceived volume between the normal weight and overweight groups according to the cup shape and cup base height. In conclusion, cup shape and base height potentially affects volume perception. Therefore, modifying cup shape may be used in a weight control program to help control caloric beverage consumption.

바닥을 올린 밥그릇의 식품 섭취량, 인지 섭취량 및 포만도에 대한 비교 분석 (Comparative Analysis of the Intake Volume, Perception Volume, and Satiety Rate of an Augmented Rice Bowl with an Elevated Bottom)

  • This study examined the impact of perceived volume on satiety using 400 g kimchi fried rice in a normal rice bowl (Normal-400), 300 g kimchi fried rice in an augmented rice bowl with an elevated bottom (Illusion-300 and 300 g kimchi fried rice in a normal rice bowl (Normal-300). Thirty-six healthy women took part in this study once a week for three weeks. The Normal-400 (1st week), Illusion-300 (2nd week), and Normal-300 (3rd week) bowls were used to served kimchi fried rice to the same participants over three consecutive weeks. After each lunch, the consumption volume of fried rice, perception volume, and satiety rate were measured. The consumption volume of the fried rice was 313.8 g with the Normal-400, 248.9 g with the Illusion-300 and 240.2 g with the Normal-300. The perceived volume on an estimated five-point scale was 4.0 with the Normal-400, 4.1 with the Illusion-300 and 2.4 with the Normal-300. We compared the post-meal satiety of perceptually equal but quantitatively different amounts of food served in two different bowls (Normal-400 vs Illusion-300) and found that the participants felt equally full with both bowls despite having consumed significantly more food from the Normal-400. We also compared the post-meal satiety of perceptually different but quantitatively equal amounts of food in two different bowls (Illusion-300 vs Normal-300) and discovered that the subjects felt significantly fuller with the Illusion-300 although similar amounts of food were consumed from the two bowls. These two comparisons showed that visual cues play a critical role in determining satiety and that perceived volume is perhaps more important than the actual volume of consumed food, while in determining the level of fullness.

깊이맵의 상세도와 주피사체의 깊이 변화에 따른 3D 이미지의 입체효과 (Stereoscopic Effect of 3D images according to the Quality of the Depth Map and the Change in the Depth of a Subject)

  • 본 연구에서는 피사체의 깊이와 깊이 표현의 상세레벨(detail level)을 각기 다르게 조정한 깊이맵을 이용하여 2D-to-3D 입체변환을 수행하고, 변환된 입체 이미지를 기반으로 시청자 평가 실험을 진행하여 피사체의 절대적 깊이 변화와 배경간의 깊이 차이에 따라 깊이맵의 상세레벨이 깊이감, 볼륨감, 불편감에 미치는 효과를 분석하였다. 주객체의 깊이는 3 레벨로 조정하였고, 또한, 주객체와 배경과의 상대적 깊이 차이도 하나의 독립변인으로 분석하기 위하여 3 레벨로 조정하였다. 깊이맵의 깊이 표현의 상세레벨을 다시 3레벨로 나누어, 이들 조건을 만족하는 18개의 깊이맵을 정의하고 이를 기반으로 실험을 위한 입체영상을 생성하였다. 18개의 입체영상을 실험참가자에게 보여 주고 설문을 통하여 각 영상별로 실험자들이 느끼는 주관적 입체감, 볼륨감, 불편감을 조사하였다. 그 결과 주 피사체의 절대적 위치와 피사체-배경간의 상대적 거리차이가 달라짐에 따라 깊이맵의 상세도가 깊이감, 볼륨감, 불편감에 미치는 영향력이 달라지는 결과를 얻었다. 단색 깊이맵의 경우는 주객체의 절대적 깊이위치에 상관없이 전반적으로 볼륨감을 크게 훼손하고, 스크린의 안쪽에 객체가 위치하는 경우, 다른 상세레벨의 깊이맵에 비해 깊이감도 크게 저하시키는 효과를 보이기 때문에 주객체의 절대적 위치와 상관없이 사용을 피하는 것이 바람직 한 것으로 분석되었다. 또한, 세밀한 깊이맵과 간략한 깊이맵을 적용하였을 때 실험자가 입체감을 크게 다르게 느끼지 못하는 것으로 나타남에 따라 입체변환시 모든 장면에 너무 과도하게 상세한 깊이맵을 구성할 필요가 없는 것으로 분석되었다.

직접 볼륨 렌더링에서 사실적인 고속 피사계 심도 렌더링 (Realistic and Fast Depth-of-Field Rendering in Direct Volume Rendering)

  • 직접 볼륨 렌더링은 의료영상과 같은 3차원 볼륨 데이터의 가시화에 널리 사용되는 방법이다. 본 논문은 직접 볼륨 렌더링의 깊이 인식을 향상시키기 위해 피사계 심도 효과를 볼륨 광선투사법에 적용하는 방법을 제안한다. 제안하는 방법은 인간의 지각 모델을 기반으로 카메라 모델을 적용하며 지터드 렌즈 샘플링을 사용하여 제한된 개수의 광선으로 사실적인 이미지를 획득할 수 있다. 또한, 전처리 과정 없이 GPU 파이프라인 안에서 피사계 심도를 바로 계산하여 볼륨 데이터의 대화식 탐색이 가능하다. 의료영상을 포함한 여러 데이터에 적용한 실험에서 기존 방법보다 2.6~4배 빠른 시간에 피사계 심도 효과를 표현하여 깊이 인식에 보다 도움을 주는 영상을 생성하는 것을 확인하였다.

서울로7017의 경관시뮬레이션을 통한 식재유형별 경관인식 변화 (Changes of Landscape Perception in Seoullo7017 with Different Planting Design, based on Landscape Simulation)

  • Seoullo7017, an elevated linear park, was created to redevelop obsolete road infrastructure as public space, which provides unique landscapes. This study was aimed to evaluate and suggest proper planting design for improving psychological benefits in Seoullo7017. Field survey and simulation experiment were carried out to investigate the user's perception on the landscapes. Many users had negative feelings of the present landscapes in Seoullo7017, due to concrete pavement and simple planting design using big concrete pots. Landscape simulation experiment showed this perception could change depending on planting design. In especial, herb species played an important role in improving the quality of landscape in a linear park and providing positive feelings such as refreshment, warmth and naturalness. This study suggested that planting design in a linear space needs to be focused rather on the planting style and species than the volume of greens.
