Field hulling of high-moisture paddy followed by brown rice drying offers many advantages over the present paddy harvesting and drying offers many advantages over the present paddy harvesting and drying system. We did a preliminary study of the parameters for efficient hulling of high-moisture paddy using the IRRI Centrifugal Huller and two India rice varieties. Hulling capacity , hulling efficiency , brown rice recovery and percent whole bown rice were generally best at the impeller peripheral speed of 44m/s. A second pass through the huller increased hulling capacity , brown rice revery and hulling efficiency, but reduced percent whole brown rice. To solve this , we recommed separation of paddy after hulling and aspiration such that only unhulled and partially -hulled grains will be fed back to the huller. Paddy at even 23% m.c. could be effectively hulled by the impeller-type huller , but the results were generally better at 14 to 17% m.c. Only in percent whole brown rice did the 17 to 23% m.c. range performed better than that of 14% m.c. Difference invarietal response to hulling was observed.
The increasing concern for reinforced concrete structure durability has been justifying in many ways in the last few decades. However, there is no perfect durability test method till now. In this research an alternative method, which is based on the cumulative moisture loss percent of the concrete specimens after oven-drying, was proposed to estimate the durability performance of the concrete. Two temperatures were considered for the oven-drying tests: $100^{\circ}C$ and $200^{\circ}C$. Test results showed that oven-drying at $200^{\circ}C$ was obviously an unsuitable procedure to preserve the fragile microstructure of cement-based materials. By contrast, experimental results through oven-drying at $100^{\circ}C$ allowed estimating the moisture loss percent of cement-based materials in a more rational manner. Moreover, the magnitudes of the cumulative moisture loss percent obtained from oven-drying tests at $100^{\circ}C$ for 48 hours have good correlations with the data of other well-known methods, namely, electrical resistance test, water permeability test, and mercury intrusion porosimetry test. This investigation established that regarding the oven-drying test as one of the tests for evaluating the potential durability of concrete is considerably practicable.
1. In order to make the improvement of plywood quality, this study has been made. The pretreatments applied to the veneers are as follows. a) The soaking treatment of the veneer in 30 percent methanol solution for 24 hours was applied to remove some resinous materials which may cause many stain discolouring on the face of finished plywood. b) The preservative treatment of the veneer in 2 percent malenit solution for 2 to 3 minutes was adopted to make resistance against decay and insect damages. c) The fire retardant treatment of the veneer in 40 percent ammonium phosphate solution for 2 hours was applied to give retardation effect against fire burning. 2. The results summarized in this study are as follows. a) One percent resinous materials was extracted, after the soaking of the veneers in 30 percent diluted methanol. b) No marks of the dirty stains of resinous materials on the face of the treated plywood was shown, although many quite dirty stains on the face of untreated plywood have contrary seen. c) However, the strip shear test strength of the treated plywood was not decreased. It means that there is no difference in the strength between the treated plywood and the untreated plywood. The strength values were 25.08 kg/$cm^2$ and 24.98 kg/$cm^2$, respectively. d) The strip shear test strength of plywood made of the treated veneers in 2 percent malenit solution was not decreased. e) The slight decrease of the strip shear test strength of the treated plywood made of the treated veneer in 40 percent ammonuim phosphate solution was shown. However, the remarkable difference of the fire retardation activities between the treated specimens and the untreated specimens has seen as in Table 10, that is, the fire proofed specimens had taken about 28 seconds to start to burn, while the untreated specimens had taken 15 seconds to reach to burning. This means that the fire retardation effect of the fire proofed plywood was greater than that of the unproofed plywood.
Copper-zinc-bearing skarns of the Kasihan area developed at limestone layers in the sedimentary facies of the Late Oligocene Arjosari Formation. The skarns consist mainly of fine-grained, massive clinopyroxene-garnet, garnet, garnet-epidote, and epidote skarns. Most copper and zinc(-lead) ore mineralization occur in the clinopyroxene-garnet and garnetepidote skarn, respectively. Clinopyroxene occurs as a continuous solid solution of diopside and hedenbergite (from nearly pure diopside up to ${\approx}34$ mole percent hedenbergite), with a maximum 28.2 mole percent johannsenite component. The early and late pyroxenes of Kasihan skarns are diopsidic and salitic, respectively. They fall in the fields typical Cu- and Zn-dominated skarns, respectively. Garnet displays a relatively wide range of solid solution between grossular and andradite with up to ${\approx}2.0$ weight percent MnO. Garnet in early pyroxene-garnet skarn ranges from 49.1 to 91.5 mole percent grossular (mainly ${\geq}78$ mole % grossular). Garnets in late garnet and garnet-epidote skarns range from 2.8 to 91.4 mole percent grossular (mainly ${\geq}70$ mole % for garnet skarn). Epidote compositions indicate solid solutions of clinozoisite and pistacite varying from 65.8 to 76.2 mole percent clinozoisite. Phase equilibria indicate that skarn evolution was the result of interaction of water-rich fluids ($X_{CO_2}{\leq}0.1$) with original lithologies at ${\approx}0.5$ kb with declining temperature (early clinopyroxene-garnet and garnet skarn, ${\approx}450$ to $370^{\circ}C$; late garnet-epidote and epidote skarn, ${\approx}370$ to $300^{\circ}C$).

For high value-added applications of natural blue diatomite, the physical refining process and synthesis of SiC from refined diatomite were investigated. Approximately 30 percent Fe ($Fe_2O_3$) in raw blue diatomite was removed by a particle sieve separation process; the Fe composition for 325 mesh down powder was approximately 2 percent. Although a wet and/or dry magnetic separation process had some influence on the separation and/or refining of Fe composition, the Fe composition in the non-magnetic by-product was approximately 2 percent. Water leaching separation was effective in removing the Fe composition; approximately 40 percent of the Fe in raw blue diatomite was removed. The synthesis of ${\beta}$-SiC by a carbothermal reduction of the $SiO_2$ in the refined diatomite using carbon (graphite, carbon black), the effects of an acid-treatment on removing the Fe, and the specific surface area for the synthesized powder were also investigated. The impurities were mostly eliminated and the specific surface area was increased to $52.5m^2/g$.
Zircon sand of two different particle distribution with 2 percent of ground pyrophyllite were adoted to prepare the dense specimens of the stopper nozzle for the tundish. The molding pressure of $600kg/cm^2$ brought about the superior properties to those obtained t the pressure of $300kg/cm^2$, and as the firing temperatures were increased from $1, 350^{\circ}C$ to $1, 600^{\circ}C$, the better characteristics resulted. The addition of 2 percent $MgCr_2O_4$ to zircon pyrophyllite batch was more effective in corrosion-resistance to the blast furnace-slag.
This study was conducted to determine the microorganisms inhabitating in cow genitalia and their antimicrobial drug susceptibility. During the period between July, 1985 and February, 1986, a total of 111 cow genitalia, 58 from Korean native and 53 from dairy cow, were sampled at three abattoirs. Gross pathological examination and bacterial isolation and identification were performed from the genital samples. In addition antimicrobial drug susceptibility test for the microorganisms isolated, some synergistic activity among drugs were examined on the major organism isolated from the cases of endometritis and pyometra. The results are summerized as follows: 1. Among the bacteria isolated from the genitalia, Staphylococcus spp., C. pyogenes, E. coli, Proteus spp., Streptococcus spp., Bacillus spp. were most frequently isolated whereas the genera of Pasteurella, Pseudomonas, Klebsiella and Yersina were detected far less frequently. 2. In Korean native cow the genera of Straphylococcus and Steptococcus were more isolated than dairy cow while in dairy cow the genera of Corynebacterium, Proteus, Escherichia were more of ten isolated than Korean native cow. 3. From cow genital organs showing lesions of endometritis and prometra, C. pyogenes was most frequently isolated, the isolation rate being 60 percent, and follow by Staphylococcus spp., Proteus spp., E. coli and Pasteurella spp. in the order. 4. Antimicrobial drug susceptibility test conducted on the major organisms isolated showed that all the isolates were susceptible to gentamicin, cephalosporin and sulfisoxazole, but resistant to tetracycline and penicillin. 5. Twenty-nine isolates of C. pyogenes were submitted to the synergistic activity test of cephalosporin, kanamycin and streptomycin with penicillin. Synergists were demonstrated in 90 percent, 31 percent and 27 percent of isolates examined by the combined use of penicillin and cephalosporin, penicillin and kanamycin, penicillin and streptomycin, respectively. About 10 percent of the isolates were found to be indifferent by the synergism test.
The purpose of this study was to analyze the utilization of Fashion Brands Web-site. This analysis was done by 6C Concept(Contents, Community, Commerce, Connection, Customizing, Communication) which was Internet Marketing Strategy. The review of previous studies and empirical investigations through the Internet were processed for this study. 151 fashion brands in department stores in Daegu, Korea were surveyed from January to February 2004. Data were analyzed by using frequency and percentage. Total 105 brands established their Web-Sites of Internet out of 151(69.5%) fashion brands. There were four characters on Contents, six characters on Connection and five characters on Communication. And there were a establishing rate of 38.1 percent on Online Community and 30.5 percent on Online Shopping Mall. On Customizing, 73.3 percent of brands had e-CRM systems.
The direct acid leaching of domestic Marmatite concentrate at elevated temperatures and pressures was investigated. Almost 100 percent of zinc was extracted from the concentrate liberating free sulfur in 4 hours at $100^{\circ}C$ when the oxygen partial pressure was 5 atm. in sulfuric acid solution. By applying the Arrhenius equation to leach reaction in the range of $60^{circ}$ to $100^{\circ}C$ at the same oxygen partial pressure, 15.7 kcal per mole of activation energy was calculated. At the initial stage of leaching, the rate of reaction increased linearly by increasing temperature and pressure. The concentration of sulfuric acid gave minor effect to leaching velocity in the range of 5 to 20 percent. The particle size should be under 270 mesh for 100 percent extraction of zinc.
This study was carried out to examine the characeristics of waste sanders(S)from. plywood and pre-finishing plywood surface sanding and double saw finishing, as a new extander in urea-formaldehyde resin(UFR) in plywood adhesive, and to focus, adhesive strength using the glue extended with milled sanders(MS) as extender, leveling the optimum amount of MS to be added, and examining the physical properties of glue extended MS & S. Also economical good feasibility of substitution for wheat flour(WF) with MS as a new extender is analyzed and presented in details. Selecting three standard samples of 80, 100 and 180 mesh, sorking them in distilled water at $20^{\circ}C$, 24 hours, redrying at $105^{\circ}C$ and rescreening the sample with standard screen, again, the 3 samples of 80, 100, and 180 mesh are passed 23 percent through 80 mesh sander standard sample 27 percent through on 100 mesh and only 10.9 percent through 180 mesh, respectively. The particle size of retained parts are greater in size of redried form. It seems undoubtly that particles to be extended in glue are got swollen and become greater in size and coarser in shape. The shape of fresh S particles are irregular thin needle with small scale, as shown in Figure 5. PFS are so finer than plywood S that only 9.8 percent of the S retained on 100 mest screen, 24. 30 percent on 100-160 mesh, and 65.9% on 160-180 mesh. But particle size of the fresh S is large enough to make the viscosity of glue direct extended with S too high to apply it glue spreader. The glue extended with milled sanders(MS). 3 hours milled PFS or 6 hours milled plywood S, having particle sizes shown in Tables 7 and 8, as ratio of Reain/MS/WF/water: 100/8/8/10, indicate good viscosity of 16 to 24 ps, as shown in Figure 5, for applying direct to glue spreader, have high tensile-shear strength (adhesive strength), 102.4 kp/$cm^2$, and 94 percent wood failure.
