TPACK (Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge) adds the technological knowledge to PCK (Shulman 1986), completing the combination of three kinds of knowledge, i.e. teacher's content knowledge (CK), pedagogical knowledge (PK), and technological knowledge (TK). In this study, I seek to design methodological ways to improve TPACK for preservice mathematics teachers by developing and analyzing team project-based classes with technology in a class of the first semester 2009 in a teacher's college in Seoul, South Korea. The goal of the team project is to design classes to teach mathematics with technology by selecting technology tools suitable for specific mathematical concepts or mathematics sections. In the early stage of the class in the college, the confidence levels among the preservice mathematics teachers were relatively low but increased in the final stage their mathematics teaching efficacy up to from 3.88 to 4.50. Also, the pre service mathematics teachers answered the team project was helpful or very helpful in developing TPACK; this result proves that lectures with technology which based on team project are excellent tools for the teacher to design classes with technology confidently. Considering the teacher's TPACK is one of the abilities to achieve the goals required in the information technology era, the preservice mathematics teachers are asked to plan and develop the lectures with technology, rather than just taught to know how to use technology tools or adapt to specific cases. Finally, we see that national-wide discussion and research are necessary to prepare customized standards and implementable plans for TPACK in South Korea.
The purpose of this study was to investigate significant differences between the application group and nonapplication group of integrated science education in the science class about elementary teachers' perceptions and PCK. The results are as follows. First, no significant differences were found about science teachers' fundamental background variables between the two groups. This results showed that the application of integrated science education didn't have relation with the fundamental background variables. It was found that the application group of integrated science education has a lower frequency than the application group, however, it has been analysed that the application group has been applied at the introduction stage for students' motivation, focused on biology as twice every month. Second, to apply a successful integrated education in the elementary science class, it has analysed that not only teachers should need to understand about application method and concept of integrated science education but also science textbook and teaching-learning material should be developed and diffused in the well-integrated science. Third, it was found that professionality of elementary teachers to teach the scientific content knowledge is not comparatively high and non-application group of integrated science education has a lower PCK than the application group. Therefore, it should be provided that not only training programmes to learn interdisciplinary knowledge related to science, can lead to more understanding about instructional design, teaching strategies and concept for integrated science education should be developed but also chances to participate in various training programmes should be provided to enhance elementary teachers' professionality for integrated science education.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the interaction of science PCK between two elementary school teachers by the teacher collaboration within the school. We chose the case that two teachers collaborated spontaneously in the 5th-grade science classes. Even though they had similar teaching experiences, one of them had the science PCK while the other did not. As a result of this study, two teachers began to collaborate to avoid comparisons of science classes between them. They shared the same teaching plan but practiced science teaching individually. During they taught science, they usually collaborated on the instructional sequences, student's activities, and the content of assessments. They had an in-depth collaboration when the teacher who lacked the science PCK asked help to teach problem-centered learning by science inquiry. During the collaboration, their science PCK components, especially the knowledge of instructional strategies for teaching science, shared and it affected the teacher's science practices who lacked the science PCK. However, they did not usually share the knowledge of teaching for their everyday science classes because two teachers had the perception of noninterference about their science classes. This case has the limitation that it is hard to generalize the results but teacher collaboration shows the possibility to develop the elementary school teachers' science professionalism by having peers in the school who can help them in science classes.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the structural relationship between pedagogical content knowledge (PCK), grit, and teaching efficacy perceived by elementary school science teachers. Based on the results of the literature review, PCK was divided into knowledge domain and enactment domain, and these two domains were set as exogenous latent variables to investigate the structural relationship between PCK and teaching efficacy. In addition, teachers' grit was added to the structural equation model as an exogenous latent variable to investigate the effect of teachers' knowledge, enactment, and grit on teaching efficacy. Upon confirming the structural relationship between PCK and teaching efficacy, it was found that a high correlation between knowledge and enactment, and that knowledge had a greater effect on teaching efficacy than enactment. Furthermore, upon confirming the structural relationship between PCK, grit, and teaching efficacy, both knowledge and grit were found to have a statistically significant effect on teaching efficacy, while the relationship between enactment and teaching efficacy was not statistically significant. Based on the results of these studies, we discussed ways to strengthen teacher expertise and teaching efficacy in elementary school science classes and the meaning of grit in the field of teacher expertise.

This study analyzes pre-service teachers' PCK dealing with visualization of the contents related to boiling point elevation and teaching methods in mock-lessons. As a result of analyzing pre-service teachers' knowledge based on PCK factors, most of the pre-service teachers accentuated on understanding boiling point elevation conceptually, whereas some of the others inclined to make students understand boiling point elevation in a scientific way, let the kids use numerical formulas to describe the concept, and motivate them to learn through the examples in real life. The pre-service teachers represented majority of the important facts of boiling point elevation as the knowledge required to understand things conceptually. However, they did not focus on improving the scientific thinking and inquiring levels of the students. Also, the pre-service teachers tended to teach at the level and order of the textbook. In some other cases, they considered the vocabularies and materials in the textbook (which could have been highlighted in the editing sequence) as the main topic to learn, or regarded the goal as giving students the ability to solve exercises in the textbook. It turned out that the pre-service teachers had a low level of knowledge of their students. It is recommended that they should make use of the materials given (such as data related to the misconception of students) during the training session. The knowledge of teaching and evaluating students was described superficially by the pre-service teachers; they merely mentioned the applications of models, such as the cyclic model and discovery learning, rather than thinking of a method related to the goals, or listed general assessment methods.
In this study, we investigated the characteristics of the PCK components in the chemistry units of middle school science teacher's guidebooks developed under the 2009 Revised National Curriculum. The analysis of the results revealed that the sub-components of topic-specific strategies, vertical articulation, and lesson objectives were systematically handled in most teacher's guidebooks. However, subject-specific strategies, assessment methods, and curricular changes were mainly dealt with only in the general guidelines. Experiments and inquiries, assessment questions, and assessment dimensions were lack of constructivist approaches in the aspect of presented contents or forms. Horizontal articulation and knowledge of students were either lacked in relevant content or presented in the form of simple presentation. Concepts and theories accounted for the largest proportion of teachers' guidebooks, but some of them were beyond appropriate levels. On the bases of the results, the implications for the development of the teacher's guidebooks are discussed.

The purpose of this study was to understand PCK to improve professionalism of teachers and derive implications about proper teachings methods. For achieving these research purposes, different PCK and teaching methods in class of three teachers(A, B, C) were compared and analyzed targeting division of decimals for 6th grade. For this study, criteria of PCK analysis of teachers was set, PCK questionnaires were produced and distributed, teachers had interviews, PCK of teachers were analyzed, division of decimals class for 6th grade was observed and analyzed, and PCK of teachers and their classes were compared. The implications deriving from comparative analyzing PCK and classes are as follows. First of all, there was a close relation between PCK and classes, leading to a need for efforts of increasing PCK of teachers in every field in order to realize effective classes. Secondly, self study and in-service training are needed to enhance PCK of teachers. Thirdly, more of expertises and materials have to be provided on the instruction manual for teachers.

In this study, we investigated the characteristics of the PCK components of pre-service chemistry teachers considered in the processes of developing performance assessment. Eight pre-service teachers participated in this study. After the workshop for performance assessment, they developed performance assessment through the planning, embodying and small group discussion step. Their activities were recorded and videotaped. Semi-structured interviews were also conducted. It was found that the PCK component considered in developing performance assessment individually was mainly the knowledge of assessment in science. The proportions of knowledge of curriculum, instructional strategies and students were found to be relatively low. The feedback on students' performance was not considered at all. The orientation to traditional assessment which emphasized on the objectivity of assessment, was stronger in the embodying step rather than in the planning step. During the planning step, the integrations among the PCK components mainly appeared with the knowledge of instructional strategies. However, they hardly appeared in the embodying and discussion steps. The main characteristics of the PCK in small group discussion were similar with those in the embodying step. Some PCK components were considered more in small group discussion, but most discussions were in the traditional perspectives.
The purposes of this study were to examine what kinds of educational activities were carried out during the practice teaching based on CoRe and to identify the role of CoRe and its influence on the development of expertise of student teachers. This study was performed as qualitative case study. The subjects of this study were one practice supervisor teacher and two student teachers. Data were collected through recording CoRe discussion process, student teachers' instructional scene, and semi-constructed interview, and analyzed by an inductive method. Student teachers noticed their own misconceptions, and clarified the concepts based on CoRe during the discussion with supervisor teacher. They also supplemented their lack of knowledge and made up new strategies through the process of sharing their ideas. During the discussion, the supervisor teacher conveyed his teaching experience based on his own orientations toward science teaching. In this course, CoRe plays roles as follows. Firstly, CoRe played a role as guiding supervisor teacher's coaching process. Secondly, CoRe helped for the supervisor teacher to recognize their own PCK. Thirdly, CoRe served as a tool of helping their communication. In turn CoRe proved to be a useful frame for teaching student teachers during practice teaching. Student teachers were provided with a useful framework for preparing lessons by developing CoRe for the topic they teach. Developing CoRe with supervisor teacher at the planning stage of lessons enhenced student-teachers' subject matter knowledge and their PCK including knowledge of science curricula and knowledge of student's understanding of science. Also student teachers understood the components of PCK and experienced the positive understanding toward students, teaching activities, and themselves as a science teacher.

The purpose in this study was to provide a basic resource for enhancing teachers' professional competence by examining how the Home Economics(HE) teachers had formed, developed, and introspected the pedagogical content knowledge in the HE classes of secondary schools. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with six HE teachers working at secondary schools. NVivo program, a kind of CAQDAS was used to analyze the data inductively. This study revealed that the HE teachers reflectively introspected the pedagogical content knowledge in Home Economics Education(H-PCK) as follows: First, as for knowledge of perspective on Home Economics Education(HEE), the research participants encouraged students to solve practical problems regarding the objective of HEE. They tried to foster the students' critical thinking ability related to the daily life. They made eager efforts to achieve the mission of HEE as a practical science. Second, as for knowledge of HE curriculum, the research participants mentioned that there was lack of systematic approach concerned with curriculum development. While reorganizing, they always paid attention to its relation to the students' daily lives, to the relationship between the curriculum contents and the social context. Third, as for knowledge of teaching strategies on practical problem-based instruction, the research participants developed the practical problem-based instruction skills. They mentioned students' difficulties in relating the practical problem-based instruction, too. Fourth, regarding knowledge of context, as teachers mostly prepared for progressed instruction alone without communicating with colleagues in the same school, they yearned for and also formed networks with other HE teachers in order to overcome their limitations.
