Motion estimation using one-bit transform and two-bit transform reduces the complexity for computation of matching error; however, the peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR) is degraded. Modified 1BT (M1BT) and modified 2BT (M2BT) have been proposed to compensate degraded PSNR by adding conditional local search. However, these algorithms require many additional search points in fast moving sequences with a block size of $16{\times}16$. This paper provides more efficient search method by preparing candidate blocks using the number of non-matching points (NNMP) than the conditional local search. With this NNMP-based search, we can easily obtain candidate blocks with small NNMP and efficiently search final motion vector. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm not only reduces computational complexity, but also improves PSNR on average compared with conventional search algorithm used in M1BT, M2BT and AM2BT.
To investigate the non-Gaussian properties of fluctuating wind pressures and the error margin of extreme wind loads on a long-span curved roof with matching and mismatching ratios of turbulence integral scales to depth (Lux/D), a series of synchronized pressure tests on the rigid model of the complex curved roof were conducted. The regions of Gaussian distribution and non-Gaussian distribution were identified by two criteria, which were based on the cumulative probabilities of higher-order statistical moments (skewness and kurtosis coefficients, Sk and Ku) and spatial correlation of fluctuating wind pressures, respectively. Then the characteristics of fluctuating wind-loads in the non-Gaussian region were analyzed in detail in order to understand the effects of turbulence integral-scale. Results showed that the fluctuating pressures with obvious negative-skewness appear in the area near the leading edge, which is categorized as the non-Gaussian region by both two identification criteria. Comparing with those in the wind field with matching Lux/D, the range of non-Gaussian region almost unchanged with a smaller Lux/D, while the non-Gaussian features become more evident, leading to higher values of Sk, Ku and peak factor. On contrary, the values of fluctuating pressures become lower in the wind field with a smaller Lux/D, eventually resulting in underestimation of extreme wind loads. Hence, the matching relationship of turbulence integral scale to depth should be carefully considered as estimating the extreme wind loads of long-span roof by wind tunnel tests.

A low-noise amplifier(LNA) using series RLC matching network and resistive feedback at 8 GHz is presented. Inductive degeneration is used for the input matching with which the proposed LNA shows quite a wide bandwidth in terms of $S_{21}$. An equivalent circuit model is deduced for input matching by conversion from parallel circuit to series resonant circuit. By exploiting the resistive feedback and series RLC input matching, fully integrated LNA achieves maximum $S_{21}$ of 8.5 dB(peak to -3 dB bandwidth is about 3.5 GHz) noise figure of 5.9 dB, and IIP3 of 1.6 dBm while consuming 7 mA from 1.2 V supply.
An antenna arrays for a satellite navigation systems require more antenna elements to mitigate multiple jamming signals. In order to maintain the small array size while increasing the number of antenna elements, miniaturization technique is essential for antenna design. In this work, an electrically small circular microstrip patch antenna with a 3 dB hybrid coupler is designed as an element antenna, where the 3 dB hybrid coupler can yield the circularly polarized radiation characteristic. The miniaturized element antenna typically has too large capacitance in GPS L1 and GLONASS G1 bands, making it difficult to match with a single stand-alone non-Foster matching circuit (NFMC) in a stable state. Therefore, we propose a new matching technique, referred to as the hybrid matching method, which consists of a NFMC and a passive circuit. This passive tuning circuit manages reactance of antenna elements at an appropriate capacitance without a pole in the operating frequency range. The antenna array is fabricated, and the measured results show a reflection coefficient of less than -10 dB and an isolation of greater than 50 dB. In addition, peak gain of the proposed antenna is increased by 22.3 dB compared to the antenna without the hybrid matching network.
When generating spectrum-compatible artificial ground motion in engineering practices, the effect of the variation in fitting parameters on the distribution of the peak ground displacement (PGD) has not yet drawn enough attention. In this study, a method for simulating ground motion matching for multiple targets is developed. In this method, a frequency-dependent amplitude envelope function with statistical parameters is introduced to simulate the nonstationarity of the frequency in earthquake ground motion. Then, several groups of time-history acceleration with different temporal and spectral nonstationarities were generated to analyze the effect of nonstationary parameter variations on the distribution of PGD. The following conclusions are drawn from the results: (1) In the simulation of spectrum-compatible artificial ground motion, if the acceleration time-history is generated with random initial phases, the corresponding PGD distribution is quite discrete and an uncertain number of PGD values lower than the limit value are observed. Nevertheless, the mean values of PGD always meet the requirement in every group. (2) If the nonstationary frequencies of the ground motion are taken into account when fitting the target spectrum, the corresponding PGD values will increase. A correlation analysis shows that the change in the mean and the dispersion values, from before the frequencies are controlled to after, correlates with the modal parameters of the predominant frequencies. (3) Extending the maximum period of the target spectrum will increase the corresponding PGD value and, simultaneously, decrease the PGD dispersion. Finally, in order to control the PGD effectively, the ground motion simulation method suggested in this study was revised to target a specified PGD. This novel method can generate ground motion that satisfies not only the required precision of the target spectrum, peak ground acceleration (PGA), and nonstationarity characteristics of the ground motion but also meets the required limit of the PGD, improving engineering practices.
This work conducted the experimental analysis on ultrasonic acoustic matching in order to measure the accuracy of gaseous fuel level values. The experimental devices were used as 12V-DC supply, control T1 board, oscilloscope (DS01072B), ultrasonic probe and pattern table. The research models were designed by ceramic assay which can determine the transmitting and receiving energies. The result of the ringing area could verify the increased characteristics in the order of D (0.180m) < E (0.184m) < B (0.204m) < A (0.234m) < F (0.244m) < C (0.247m) models based on initial 2.9V of the maximum peak voltage. From the experimental results, the model designed by Ø21*3+2t of the matching layer was notable in that the most outstanding directivity energy could be created.
In the block matching algorithm, search patterns of different shapes or sizes and the distribution of motion vectors have a large impact on both the searching speed and the image quality. In this paper, we propose a new fast block matching algorithm using the cross pattern and the flat-hexagon search pattern. Our algorithm first finds the motion vectors that are close to the center of search window using the cross pattern, and then lastly finds the other motion vectors that are not close to the center of search window using the flat-hexagon search pattern. Through experiments, compared with the hexagon-based search algorithm(HEXBS), the proposed cross pattern and flat-hexagonal pattern search algorithm(CFHPS ) improves about 0.2-6.2% in terms of average number of search point per motion vector estimation and improves about 0.02-0.31dB in terms of PSNR(Peak Signal to Noise Ratio).
There is the temporal correlation of the video sequence between the motion vector of current block and the motion vector of previous block. In this paper, we propose the prediction search algorithm for block matching using the temporal correlation of the video sequence and the center-biased property of motion vectors. The proposed algorithm determines the location of a better starting point for the search of an exact motion vector using the point of the smallest SAD(sum of absolute difference) value by the predicted motion vector from the same block of the previous frame and the predictor candidate point on each search region. Simulation results show that PSNR(Peak-to-Signal Noise Ratio) values are improved up to the 1.06㏈ as depend on the video sequences and improved about 0.19∼0.46㏈ on an average except the full search(FS) algorithm.

IC-implementations provide high performance for solving the high computational cost of pattern matching but have relative low flexibility for satisfying different applications. In this paper, we report an associative memory architecture for k nearest neighbor (KNN) search, which is one of the most basic algorithms in pattern matching. The designed architecture features reconfigurable vector-component parallelism enabled by programmable switching circuits between vector components, and a dedicated majority vote circuit. In addition, the main time-consuming part of KNN is solved by a clock mapping concept based weighted frequency dividers that drastically reduce the in principle exponential increase of the worst-case search-clock number with the bit width of vector components to only a linear increase. A test chip in 180 nm CMOS technology, which has 32 rows, 8 parallel 8-bit vector-components in each row, consumes altogether in peak 61.4 mW and only 11.9 mW for nearest squared Euclidean distance search (at 45.58 MHz and 1.8 V).

A dual-band (UHF: 470-862 MHz, L: 1452-1492 MHz) digital video broadcasting-handheld (DVB-H) antenna is presented. The proposed antenna is composed of a planar inverted F-shape antenna (PIFA) with an input impedance matching circuit. The matching circuit improves antenna performance in the broad UHF bands (470-862 MHz: 63%). The proposed antenna has omni-directional patterns and sufficient gain (Ave. peak gain is about 1.70 dBi over 470-862 MHz) for the PMP applications. The antenna is contact with a PMP case (${\varepsilon}_r=3.2$) which is used as a substrate for the size reduction and compact design.
