  • The objective of this study is to investigate patent trends of Daegu city which tries to introduce environment friendly energy and to develop new technology or new industry sprung from technology convergence on smart decentralized energy technology and other technologies. After applying network analysis to corresponding groups of technology or industry convergence, strategy for future energy convergence industry is provided. Patent data applied in Daegu city area are used to obtain research goal. The technology which contains several IPC codes (IPC Co-occurrence) is considered as a convergence technology. Path finder network analysis is used for visualizing and grouping by using IPC codes. The analysis results categorized 13 groups in energy convergence industry and reclassified them into 3 cluster groups (Smart Energy Product Production Technology Group, Smart Energy Convergence Supply Technology Group, Smart Energy Indirect Application Technology Group) considering the technical characteristics and policy direction. Also, energy industry has evolved rapidly by technological convergence with other industries. Especially, it has been converged with IT industry, and there is a trend that energy industry will be converged with service industry and manufacturing industry such as textile, automobile parts, mechanics, and logistics by employing infrastructure as well as network. Based on the research results on core patent technology, convergence technology and inter-industry analysis, the direction of core technology research and development as well as evolution on decentralized energy industry is identified. By using research design and methodology in this study, the trend of convergence technology is investigated based on objective data (patent data). Above all, we can easily confirm the core technology in the local industry by analyzing the industrial competitiveness in the macro level. Based on this, we can identify convergence industry and technology by performing the technological convergence analysis in the micro level.

  • Purpose: In this paper, we propose a direction of future research and development to be carried out in the passive tracking field by deriving a white space with enhanced search formula of patent analysis. Method: In this paper, we derive a white space by identifying the direction and the flow of technology change and by matrixing the object and solution through extensive patent search with enhanced search formula and analysis in the field of passive tracking technology. Result: By the proposed scheme, 'multi-target positioning and tracking' and '3D positioning technology' using artificial intelligence, adaptive/hybrid positioning technology, and radar/antenna were derived as white space technologies and confirmed with absence of any services or products. Conclusion: The derived white space technologies from this paper are the areas where patent applications are not active and there are not many prior patents, thus it is necessary to secure the rights through more active R&D and patent application activities.

  • The global pet culture-related industry is currently experiencing a trend of expansion. Within the pet industry, pet food holds a significant share, occupying a substantial portion. Presently, the domestic pet food market exhibits a high dependency on imported products, underscoring the critical importance of prioritizing the acquisition of intellectual property rights to ensure competitiveness and facilitate technological development within the relevant industry. we have undertaken an assessment of the current status and prospects of domestic pet food patents. Specifically, we have conducted temporal and applicant-specific statistical analyses, as well as IPC technology analyses, to examine the stages of technological advancement, corporate technological development and innovation capabilities, patent application distribution, and the technological landscape of key enterprises and research institutions. The research findings indicate that domestic research activities related to pet food have entered a mature phase, and the trends in patent applications for domestic pet food indicate a notable participation of multinational corporations alongside domestic enterprises.

  • Background: The purpose of this study was to utilize text network analysis and topic modeling to identify interconnected relationships among keywords present in patent information related to oral health, and subsequently extract latent topics and visualize them. By examining key keywords and specific subjects, this study sought to comprehend the technological trends in oral health-related innovations. Furthermore, it aims to serve as foundational material, suggesting directions for technological advancement in dentistry and dental hygiene. Methods: The data utilized in this study consisted of information registered over a 20-year period until July 31st, 2023, obtained from the patent information retrieval service, KIPRIS. A total of 6,865 patent titles related to keywords, such as "dentistry," "teeth," and "oral health," were collected through the searches. The research tools included a custom-designed program coded specifically for the research objectives based on Python 3.10. This program was used for keyword frequency analysis, semantic network analysis, and implementation of Latent Dirichlet Allocation for topic modeling. Results: Upon analyzing the centrality of connections among the top 50 frequently occurring words, "method," "tooth," and "manufacturing" displayed the highest centrality, while "active ingredient" had the lowest. Regarding topic modeling outcomes, the "implant" topic constituted the largest share at 22.0%, while topics concerning "devices and materials for oral health" and "toothbrushes and oral care" exhibited the lowest proportions at 5.5% each. Conclusion: Technologies concerning methods and implants are continually being researched in patents related to oral health, while there is comparatively less technological development in devices and materials for oral health. This study is expected to be a valuable resource for uncovering potential themes from a large volume of patent titles and suggesting research directions.

  • This study analyzed the current state of art by investigating related patents of cycling wear, and suggested fundamental data to develop clothing - originated in Korea. Patent trends were then analyzed after the related patents applied in Korea, USA, and Japan from 1975 to 2015 were extracted using WIPS ON, classified as nation, applicant, technology, use, and technological maturity of the applicant country. The number of patent applications has steadily increased since the 1990s, and has steeply grown since the 2000s. The USA accounted for 55.6% of all collected patents in the study, Japan for 30.6%, and Korea for 13.7%. Technologies related to patterns and functional materials have been dominated by the USA and Japan; however, smart technologies have been actively developed in Korea. According to use, USA focused on functionality, Korea concentrated on safety, and Japan uniformly combined functionality, safety, and convenience. According to the positioning of technology by application, water repellency, stretchability, muscle strengthening, pad, panel, finishing, and weaving technologies were positioned in the functionality.

  • Recently, as individual 3D avatars are rapidly generalized in internet sites, its commercial applications for fashion business are being tried in ubiquitous fashion shopping era. In this research, we have investigated and analyzed patent problems of 3D avatar including personal body data to activate the fashion business using 3D avatars. Here, considering the patents for 3D face and body generation methods are already published, this research is focused on whole 3D body avatar obtained from individual body information. Firstly, definition of 3D avatar and its application cases have been investigated and then it has been researched whether or not legal protections by patent law, copyright law, computer program protection law, design protection law and fair competition laws are feasible in view of the subjects to be protected in each law and requirements for such protections. It was revealed that patent law may provide legal protections for 3D avatar and domestic and foreign patents related to 3D avatar have been researched.

  • This study has derived the patents of the technology that have been filed and registered so far to investigate the trends of virtual reality(VR) experience contents technology, and analyzed them focusing on core patent technologies. The patents of Korea, USA, Japan, Europe and PCT, which were released until June 2020, were targeted, and patent search was conducted using WISDOMAIN search DB. The keywords for patent search were related to experience technology using VR, and a total of 1,013 data were obtained after creating a search formula by combining the derived keywords. Among them, a total of 65 data were extracted from the result of selecting valid patents, and a political analysis was conducted on them. Looking at the overall application trend, most of Korean patent applications accounted for, and noise patents are system-related devices to implement VR technology. The United States and Europe are focused on developing augmented reality(AR) technology, the study found. The technology of VR experience has increased rapidly since 2017, and the technology growth stage is the period from the beginning to the growth stage. As a result of examining the valid patents related to VR experience, technology was searched in various fields such as rural tour, exhibition, education, and performance, and patents for contents writing and general virtual experience related technology were also searched. If we predict the possibility of development of VR industry in the future, it is necessary to respond to preemption of intellectual property rights by proceeding technology development and patent application for more diverse fields.
