  • Up to now, the most studies on the passive compliance system for assembly robot were only concerned about the device itself without through analysis of its concept. In this paper, we have tried to analyze a structural characteristics, in the case that the passive compliance system was used in simple assembly process like inserting a round shaft or peg into a round hole.

  • Resident mobile communication system technology has been developed. But, surged high voltages in antenna generally have damaged mobile communication. To solve this problem, we use arrester in Rx-Tx line system. That is, the arrester is to protect devices in system against considerable over-voltages or lighting strike. Currently, system protection using of arrester has been arrived in content level but these days, the fact of PIMD(Passive Intermodulation Distortion) which is RF passive components' nonlinear characteristic has appeared. This paper describes PIMD' causes occurred in arrester-estimated from Gas tube capsule, plating, temperature, humidity by experiment.

  • In this paper, a noisy passive telemetry sensor system using Unscented Kalman Filter (UKF) is proposed. To overcome these trouble problems such as a power limitation and a estimation complexity that the general passive telemetry sensor system including IC chip has, the principle of inductive coupling was applied to the modelling of a passive telemetry sensor system (PTSS) and its noisy capacitive parameter was estimated by the UKF algorithm. Specialty, to show the effective tracking performance of the UKF, we compared with the tracking performance of Recursive Least Square Estimation (RLSE) using linearization

  • Recently, the response of a high-rise building to external dynamic force created by wind and earthquake has received much attention. This response is dependent on wind intensity, surrounding environment, building size, shape, mass, stiffness and amount of energy dissipation available in the system. The study has been done on these parameters. Attempts have been made to increase the damping in building system and thereby reduce structural response. These attempts have centered on adding an energy-dissipative system(passive tuned mass damper; passive TMD) to the building system and increasing the overall effective damping. In this paper the optimum condition of passive TMD will be derived with respect to random excitation and the properties of the optimum condition will have been studied.

  • In this research, we describe recent technologies and system requirements of the passive microwave radiometer used in Earth observation satellites. And we classify types of microwave radiometer system for Earth observation satellites according to observation targets and ways to scan and discuss a design method. Also, requirements of passive radiometer for Earth observation missions in the latest practical examples used and developed are analyzed in this research.

  • It is known that a base-isolated building exhibits a large response to a long-duration, long-period wave and an inter-connected system without base-isolation shows a large response to a pulse-type wave. To compensate for each deficiency, a new hybrid passive control system is investigated in which a base-isolated building is connected to another building (free wall) with oil dampers. It is demonstrated that the present hybrid passive control system is effective both for pulse-type ground motions and long-duration and long-period ground motions and has high redundancy and robustness for a broad range of disturbances.

  • To cool down a nuclear reactor core and prevent the fuel damage without a pump-driven active component during any anticipated accident, the passive emergency core cooling system (PECCS) was designed and adopted in an advanced light water reactor, i-POWER. In this study, for a validation of the cooling capability of PECCS, thermal-hydraulic integral effect tests were performed with the ATLAS facility by simulating intermediate and small break loss-of-coolant accidents (IBLOCA and SBLOCA). The test result showed that PECCS could effectively depressurize the reactor coolant system by supplying the safety injection water from the safety injection tanks (SITs). The result pointed out that the safety injection from IRWST should have been activated earlier to inhibit the excessive core heat-up. The sequence of the PECCS injection and the major thermal hydraulic transient during the SBLOCA transient was similar to the result of the IBLOCA test with the equivalent PECCS condition. The test data can be used to evaluate the capability of thermal hydraulic safety analysis codes in predicting IBLOCA and SBLOCA transients under an operation of passive safety system.
