Actual trends in automotive industry lead to an increase use of lightweight structures imposing the need fur high strength aluminum alloys with complex shape. In the electromagnetic stirring process, it has many merits which are the exact control ability about material processing and a good point of the protection of environment comparison with the mechanical stirring. The interface of cells consisting of primary particle formed by the electromagnetic stirring due to particle regrowth during cooling the alloy. By electromagnetic stirring process, the microstructure of material has a good point, also it can control the material processing exactly.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the distribution characteristics of mist spray particle size by devising a rotary mist spraying device to develop the evaporative salt water desalination system. The rotary mist spraying device was consisted of a BLDC sirocco fan, a spinning fan, a fan fixed shaft and a salt water supply device etc. In this study we analyzed the characteristics of spray particle size and distribution according to the variation of sirocco fan surface roughness(Ra, ${\mu}m$), revolutions(rpm) and salt water flow rate(mL/min). When sirocco fan surface roughness(Ra) was in the range of $0.27{\sim}7.65{\mu}m$, the spray particle size was $0.117{\sim}1.360{\mu}m$. And then more than 90% of spray particles were found to be less than $0.50{\mu}m$. When sirocco fan surface roughness(Ra) was in the range of $12.70{\sim}22.84{\mu}m$, the spray particle size was $2.51{\sim}184.79{\mu}m$ and more than 98% of spray particles were found to be less than $13.59{\mu}m$. To analyze the effect of fan rotation speed on the size and distribution of spray particles, when surface roughness Ra was fixed $0.27{\mu}m$ and fan rotation speed and salt water flow rate was respectively changed at 3,800~5,600 rpm and 2.77~8.28 mL/min, spray particle size was $0.314{\sim}0.541{\mu}m$. And when salt water flow rate was 9.74 mL/min and fan rotation speed was 3,800~5,200 rpm, spray particle size was in the range of $29.29{\sim}341.46{\mu}m$ and in case of 5,600 rpm more than 98.23% of spray particles were in the range of $2.51{\sim}13.59{\mu}m$.
The particle size of MgO was examined as a function of the Na content in $Mg(OH)_2$ powders and the calcination temperature. $Mg(OH)_2$ suspension was obtained by dropwise precipitation of $Mg(NO_3)_2{\cdot}6H_2O$ and NaOH solutions. The suspension was diluted by varying the dilution volume ratio of distilled water to $Mg(OH)_2$ suspension to change the Na salt concentration in the suspension. $Mg(OH)_2$ slurry was filtered and dried at $60^{\circ}C$ under vacuum, and then its $Mg(OH)_2$ powder was calcined to produce MgO with different amount of Na content at $500\sim900^{\circ}C$ under air. Investigation of the physical and chemical properties of the various MgO powders with dilution ratio and calcination temperature variation was done by X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy, BET specific surface area and thermal gravimetric analysis. It was observed that MgO particle size could depend on the condition of calcination temperature and dilution ratio of the $Mg(OH)_2$ suspension. The particle size of the MgO depends on the Na content remaining in the $Mg(OH)_2$ powder, which powder was prepared by changing the dilution ratio of the $Mg(OH)_2$ suspension. This change increased as the calcination temperature increased and decreased as the dilution ratio increased. The growth of MgO particle size according to the increase of temperature was more effective when there was a relatively high content of Na. The increase of Na content lowered the temperature at which decomposition of $Mg(OH)_2$ to MgO took place, thereby promoting the crystal growth of MgO.

In order to attain a sustained release at targeted organs in a prolonged time which can reduce the side effects and maximize the therapeutic effect, aclarubicin (ACL) was entrap ped into liposomes of different lipid compositions using Microfluidizer, and dry liposomes were prepared by lyophilization. The dry aclarubicin-entrapped liposomes were evaluated in terms of mean particle size and size distribution, entrapment efficiency and in vitro drug release profile. The Entrapment efficiency of liposome, when the concentration of aclarubicin and lipid were 0.5 to 1.0mg/ml and $200{\mu}mol$/ml, respectively, was over 80% using Microfluidizer, in contrast to 70% of entrapment efficiency using hand-shaking method. Mean particle size and size distribution of aclarubicin-entrapped liposomes of various lipid compositions did not change considerably by the freeze drying. The range of particle size was between 80 and 200nm. Among aclarubicin-entrapped liposomes, ACL-liposome of PC/DPPC/CH0L/TA displayed the most significant sustained release. The addition of DPPC appeared to be favorable for the control of release. In general, aclarubicin entrapped in liposomes was less stable than free aclarubicin either in pH 7.4 phosphate buffer or in human plasma. Formulation I($t_{1/2}$, 20.3 hr) devoid of lipid additive was the most unstable in the phosphate-buffer solution while formulation II($t_{1/2}$, 40.7 hr) with cardiolipin was the most stable. Half lives of aclarubicin-entrapped liposomes in human plasma were 43.2, 50.7, 35.9 and 35.3 hr for formulation I. II, III and IV, respectively, in contrast to 57.8 hr for free aclarubicin.
Processing is generally employed to alter the physical and chemical properties of feeds used in pig diets, using hammer/roller mills, pellet mills and extruders/expanders. The reported optimum particle sizes of corn are approximately $500{\mu}m$, $500-700{\mu}m$, $400-600{\mu}m$, for nursery, growing-finishing, and breeder pigs respectively. Optimum particle size of grains are affected by diet complexity. There was a trend towards reducing particle size in order to increase ADG in pigs fed a simple diet, though such was not the case for pigs fed a complex diet. Uniformity of particle size also affects the nutritional values of swine feeds. Uniform particle sizes would consistently give greater nutrient digestibilities. In terms of pellet quality, it is reported that a higher incidence of fmes in pelleted feeds has a direct correlation with poorer feed conversion ratio in pigs. Particle and pellet sizes are also very important for pelleting in terms of grinding, digestibility, stomach ulceration and pellet durability. A particle size of $600{\mu}m$, or slightly less, seemed optimal for com in fmishing pigs, and the 5/32 in. diameter pellets supported the best efficiencies of gain during nursery and finishing phases. Extruder and/or expander processes would allow the feed industry an increased flexibility to utilize a wider spectrum of feed ingredients, and improve pellet quality of finished feeds. It would appear that extruded or expanded diets containing highly digestible ingredients have little effect on the growth performance of pigs, and the feeding values of the feeds over pelleted diets were not improved as pigs grew. The extruder or expander is much more effective than a pelletizer in salmonella control. Gastric ulcerations and/or keratinizations were consistently reported in pigs fed mash and processed diets containing finely ground grains, whereas carcass quality was not affected by diet processing methods such as pelleting, extruding or expanding. In corn- or sorghum-based diets, the electrical energy consumption is 4-5 times higher in the expanding than in the pelleting process. But the expander's processing cost was half of that shown by an extruder. Finally, the decision of which feed processing technology to adopt would depend on the processing cost, and any potential improvement in growth performance and digestibilities of nutrients should offset the increased operating and capital costs related to the extruder/expander technology over mash or pelleting processes in pigs.
In this study, the effect of particle size of genistein-loaded solid lipid particulate systems on drug dissolution behavior and oral bioavailability was investigated. Genistein-loaded solid lipid microparticles and nanoparticles were prepared with glyceryl palmitostearate. Except for the particle size, other properties of genistein-loaded solid lipid microparticles and nanoparticles such as particle composition and drug loading efficiency and amount were similarly controlled to mainly evaluate the effect of different particle sizes of the solid lipid particulate systems on drug dissolution behavior and oral bioavailability. The results showed that genistein-loaded solid lipid microparticles and nanoparticles exhibited a considerably increased drug dissolution rate compared to that of genistein bulk powder and suspension. The microparticles gradually released genistein as a function of time while the nanoparticles exhibited a biphasic drug release pattern, showing an initial burst drug release, followed by a sustained release. The oral bioavailability of genistein loaded in solid lipid microparticles and nanoparticles in rats was also significantly enhanced compared to that in bulk powders and the suspension. However, the bioavailability from the microparticles increased more than that from the nanoparticles mainly because the rapid drug dissolution rate and rapid absorption of genistein because of the large surface area of the genistein-solid lipid nanoparticles cleared the drug to a greater extent than the genistein-solid lipid microparticles did. Therefore, the findings of this study suggest that controlling the particle size of solid-lipid particulate systems at a micro-scale would be a promising strategy to increase the oral bioavailability of genistein.
Termites cause massive damage to wooden architectural heritage structures. Chemical treatments have been commonly used to control them. In foreign countries, physical barriers made of sheet and particles impenetrable to termite are being used as an alternative to the chemical method. To study the efficacy of physical barriers, we investigated the appropriate sand particle size that can prevent the penetration of R. speratus kyushuensis. Upon evaluating the barrier properties of sand with particle sizes ranging from 0.85 to 4.00 mm, the penetration of termites was found to be effectively blocked at a particle size range of 1.00 to 2.80 mm. At smaller particle sizes, termites managed to move the sand particles and build an almost linear mud tube to penetrate the sand layer. At larger particle sizes, the termites could penetrate the sand layer by passing through the sand gaps.
Effects of the zeolite particle size on the soil chemical properties and on rice growth was investigated on the pot with the loamy sand (Sadu series) and silty clay loam(Paju series) soils. All the zeolite treatments brought the increase of unhulled grain yield on the both loamy sand and silty clay loam soils. Unhulled grain yield increased with increasing the amount of zeolite applied and with decreasing the amount of particle size of zeolite applied on both soils. Unhulled grain yield increased significantly by 11.1% (22.79g/head) with 2ton/10a of smaller than $106{\mu}m$ size zeolite on the loamy sand soil and on the silty clay loam soil, yield increased by 9.3% (24.98g/head) with 1.5ton/10a of smaller than $106{\mu}m$ size zeolite. CEC, pH and contents of exchangeable cations of the soil after experiment were raised by increasing the amount of zeolite and also by decreasing the particle size of zeolite at both soil. At the heading stage, the zeolite treatments improved the growth of rice plant compared to control. The nutrient contents(T-N, Ca, Mg, K, Na), except phosphorus, in the rice plant grown on the zeolite treated soils were higher than control plot.
In conventional metallothermic reduction(MR) for obtaining tantalum powder in batch-type operation, it is difficult to control morphology and location of deposits because the reaction occurs by direct physical contact between reductants and feed materials. On the other hand, a electronically mediated reaction(EMR) is capable to overcome these difficulties through the reaction by electron transfer and have a merit of continuous process. In this study an MR and EMR method has been applied to the production of a tantalum powder by sodium reduction of $K_2TaF_7$. As the reduction temperature increases, the particle size and yield of tantalum powder obtained by MR and EMR method is increased.

The waste sludge is by-produced about 20-30% of total production and arised to the severe problems of this mine's surrounding environmnet. This study was invested the composition of component, particle of size of the waste sludge by Chemical Analysis, X, R, D, Particle Size Analyzer and the physical properties (air content, slump, strength, etc) of concrete when the waste sludge is added into concrete. so, It's recomended the proper content of the waste sludge to be added into concrete. and then, is verified to be applied at batch plant in field. Above the results, the recomeded content of the waste sludge is about 2-4% (about 4-8% in cement) in aggregates and when it's added the recomended content, they are detected to be more or less changed the physical properties of concrete, ( equally strength and durability, little less air con tent, little increased shinkage, etc). but the application of the recomended content don't arise the problem of the basic quality control of concrete and physical properties.
