Addressing challenging behavior in young children with special needs is an important issue. This study analyzed the results of literature on parent-implemented behavioral interventions designed to manage the challenging behavior of children with developmental disabilities under 8 years of age. Seventeen relevant studies published in peer-reviewed English journals during the last 15 years were selected for review. The literature review showed that adequately trained parents can serve as a competent intervention agent, thereby making significant contributions to mitigating children's behavior problems. The reviewed studies also demonstrated that parents could play a variety of important roles such as informants and trainers in behavioral interventions. However, the conclusions on parent-implemented behavioral intervention may be tentative rather than conclusive due to previous research limitations including the lack of treatment integrity and social validity data. In addition, this review discussed several implications for practitioners, indicated the limitations of the reviewed studies, and presented suggestions for future research.
In this study, 150 previous studies of young children's challenging behavior, conducted over the past 10 years, from 2003 to 2012, were selected. These studies were in relation to young children both with and without disabilities, and they were thus used for the purposes of comparative analysis. The major findings are as follows. First, research on challenging behavior not only of young children with disabilities but also of those without disabilities has been an increasing trend from 2008. While most studies of those without disabilities were based on observations by parents or teachers using a variety of tools, studies regarding those with disabilities mainly used single-subject research methods using an operational definition. Second, the bulk of the studies of young children without disabilities were focused on interaction between various children's internal variables and a variety of parent-related variables related to the occurrence of challenging behavior. In comparison, studies of young children with disabilities were focused excessively on direct intervention after the occurrence of problems. Regarding those without disabilities, the interaction between children's temperament, internal variables, and their mothers' parenting behavior, external variables were the main areas of interest for these researchers. There is clearly a growing need for more active research aimed at the prevention of challenging behavior. Challenging behavior in early childhood has an influence not only on each child's present and future academic achievement levels and their quality of life but also on the quality of instruction in classroom available to all children.

Based on the data collected, independent t-test, one-way anova, Pearson correlation analysis and regression analysis were conducted to check the impact of a child's daily performance ability of developmental disability on the parent's burden and quality of life. Results : The daily performance ability of a children with developmental disabilities showed a negative correlation with the burden of the parents and a positive correlation with the quality of life. The hygiene and bowel & bladder control of children with developmental disabilities had an important influence on parent's burden, while hygiene, toileting, and bowel & bladder control of children with developmental disabilities had a significant effect on their parent's quality of life. Conclusion : It has been shown that the daily performance ability of a children with developmental disabilities has a major influence on parent's burden and quality of life. In order to reduce the burden and improve quality of life, therapeutic intervention, education and interview programs for daily life of children with developmental disabilities need to be carried out systematically by occupational therapists.
This study the presents survey results of a families living with children with disabilities in northern Seoul (Nowon-gu and Dobong-gu) that provides various educational services. This study investigates the current usage and needs of community resources for children with disabilities by the families in the inclusive and segregated care as well as education centers to provide information for the effective implementation of the current system. A total of 109 surveys were distributed and 62 (57%) were returned. 44 families in the 14 inclusive care and education centers as well as 18 families in the 2 segregated care and education centers participated in this study. They were asked to report on access to community resources that include compulsory education, family support, medical treatment, counseling services, commuting support, ways to gain necessary information, current use, and further needs for community resources for their children. Research results indicated that families in two different types of child care centers needed differentiated community services. Parents who use a segregated child care center demanded physical accessibility and increased numbers of highly qualified teachers; however, parents who use the inclusive child care center require the unified information system for the community resources. Survey findings are discussed related to differences between the two types of child care centers. Implications for sharing comprehensive information through child care teachers and directors of child care centers and future research are also discussed.

This study was conducted to analyze the effects of parenting programs for children with disabilities through meta-regression analysis of experimental studies published in Korea. Twenty-two studies with a randomized or non-randomized control group prepost test design were included in the analysis. Parenting programs had a significant effect on parenting stress (ES= -1.08, p <.001, $I^2=67.4%$), parenting ecacy (ES=0.72, p <.001, $I^2=58.0%$) and self-esteem (ES=0.58, p =.016, $I^2=0$). The meta-regression analysis showed that research designs and therapy providers had different effects on dependent variables. Results support that parenting programs are helpful for parents of children with disabilities in reducing parenting stress and improving parenting efficacy, and self-esteem.
The purpose of this study is to identify the social perception characteristics of young children with disabilities over the past decade. For this purpose, Textom, an Internet-based big data analysis system was used to collect data related to young children with disabilities posted on social media. 50 keywords were selected in the order of high frequency through the data cleaning process. For semantic network analysis, centrality analysis and CONCOR analysis were performed with UCINET6, and the analyzed data were visualized using NetDraw. As a result, the keywords such as 'education, needs, parents, and inclusion' ranked high in frequency, degree, and eigenvector centrality. In addition, the keywords of 'parent, teacher, problem, program, and counseling' ranked high in betweenness centrality. In CONCOR analysis, four clusters were formed centered on the keywords of 'disabilities, young child, diagnosis, and programs'. Based on these research results, the topics on social perception of young children with disabilities were investigated, and implications for each topic were discussed.
This study aims to provide basic data that can reduce the parenting stress of parents raising disabled children by verifying whether parenting time mediates the effect of parenting stress on mental health through parenting efficacy. The subjects of the survey were parents of disabled children, a total of 315 people. Data were analyzed using SPSS and SPSS PROCESS macro 4.2. Descriptive statistical analysis, reliability analysis, correlation analysis, and moderated mediation effect analysis were applied. The research results are as follows. First, the parenting stress of parents raising disabled children showed a positive correlation with parenting efficacy, a negative correlation between parenting stress and mental health, and a negative correlation between parenting efficacy and mental health. Second, parenting time moderated and mediated the effect of parenting stress on mental health through parenting efficacy. In conclusion, it was confirmed that the parenting time of parents raising disabled children plays a role in increasing the negative impact of parenting stress on mental health through parenting efficacy.
The purpose of the study was to review the literature with the following three themes : 1) the necessity and benefits of inclusion for young children with severe disabilities, 2) the solutions to overcome the concerns for the inclusion of young children with severe disabilities, and 3) the implication for the inclusion of young children with disabilities in Korea. The results of the study indicated that it was necessary to support pre-service and in-service early childhood education teachers to be professional educators who can create the most effective inclusive educational environments. As well, the results showed that teachers, parents, and relevant professionals need to use various strategies to activate inclusive education for young children with severe disabilities. Based on the review, the study provided the instructional strategies and educational implications for the effective inclusion of young children with severe disabilities.

Objective : The purpose of this study was to conduct a comprehensive survey of children's play in parents of disabled and non-disabled children prior to commencing school. This study aimed to further understanding play recognition and to present a specific direction of play necessary to each parent. Methods : A questionnaire based on prior studies was sent to 700 people who had previously agreed to the take part. A total of 596 questionnaires were analyzed. Uncollected and insincere surveys, of which 106 were questionnaires for parents of disabled children, were exclused from analysis. The SPSS Window 23 program was used for data analysis and frequency analysis and the independent sample T test were performed. Results : Disabled children's parents perceived playing with their children as more important than that of non-disabled children's parents(p<0.01). There was no statistical difference between disabled children and non-disabled children's parents, but there were some differences(p=0,053). Both disabled and non-disabled children had more time to participate with their mothers than with their fathers. Mothers with disabilities had more time to play however, fathers with no disabilities had more time. Both disabled and non-disabled children's parents had the most "ordinary" frequency of buying toys and there was very littele difference between the 2 groups. Both disabled and non-disabled children's parents primarily used the internet to acquire play information, and consideration when buying fun was followed by interest inducement, development level and safety. Conclusion : Through this study, it was possible to compare the status of play recognition and participation by parents of children with or without disabilities. Based on this study, parents will be able to find out what they really need to play and will be provided as a basis for future play studies for children.

The number of people with disabilities is increasing recently in Korea, in particular the proportion of children with disabilities is approximately above 5%. While there are many studies focusing on satisfaction of payment policy due to increased concern about children with disabilities, the studies on comparison and the effect factor of user satisfaction depending on the cash and voucher are not sufficient. Based on the need to recognize and research this issue, the ultimate goal of this study is to lead to implications for the payment policy by investigating user satisfaction depending on the type of payment of policy on children with disabilities. The result that analyzes the effect of general characteristics on user satisfaction shows that in case of in-cash, children and the degree of disability affect user satisfaction. In the case of voucher, the gender of parents, the degree of disability and the average income affect it. The implication of this study suggests practical implication and policy implication. Implications of the study is that provide a customized service considering general characteristics. Second, It needs to extend the range of amount of payment of in-cash. Third, extend and pay the amount of in-cash, and the service of voucher. Fourth, provide low-income group(including public aid recipients and near poverty group) with voucher to ease financial burden.
