Solar insolation is essential to understand the interaction between the earth and solar system, and it is a significant parameter that is utilized in various research fields including earth science, agriculture, and energy engineering. Although solar insolation is broadly measured in the ground-based observation station, it is difficult to identify the spatial distribution of solar insolation accurately. The remote sensing approach is known to have several benefits because it can provide continuous data sets for large area. In this study, we conducted the validation of solar insolation from COMS in the South Korea by comparing with flux tower observation. The results showed that the correlations between COMS and observation were high in both 30 minutes interval data and daily average data. Thus, we can identify that COMS can provide a reasonable estimate of solar insolation.
This study proposes a concept of Stepwise Transfer Coefficient(STC) which implies greater transfer cost with increasing the number of transfers. Thus, the public transport information system provides the choice sets of travel routes by the consideration of not only transportation time but also the optimum number of transfers. However, path choice problems that involve STC are found to include non additive cost, which requires additional route enumeration works. Discussions on route enumeration in actual transportation networks is very complicated, thereby warranting a theoretical examination of route search considering STC. From these points of view, this study results in a probability based transit trip assignment model including STC. This research also uses incoming link based entire route deletion method. The entire route deletion method proposed herein simplifies construction of an aggregation of possible routes by theoretically supporting the process of enumeration of the different routes from origin to destination. Conclusively, the STC reflected route based logit model is proposed as a public transportation transit trip assignment model.
This paper presents the proposed a classifier of liver cirrhotic step using MR(magnetic resonance) imaging and hierarchical neural network. The data sets for classification of each stage, which were normal, 1type, 2type and 3type, were analysis in the number of data was 231. We extracted liver region and nodule region from T1-weight MR liver image. Then objective interpretation classifier of liver cirrhotic steps. Liver cirrhosis classifier implemented using hierarchical neural network which gray-level analysis and texture feature descriptors to distinguish normal liver and 3 types of liver cirrhosis. Then proposed Neural network classifier learned through error back-propagation algorithm. A classifying result shows that recognition rate of normal is $100\%$, 1type is $82.8\%$, 2type is $87.1\%$, 3type is $84.2\%$. The recognition ratio very high, when compared between the result of obtained quantified data to that of doctors decision data and neural network classifier value. If enough data is offered and other parameter is considered this paper according to we expected that neural network as well as human experts and could be useful as clinical decision support tool for liver cirrhosis patients.

This paper presents a new design methods of the short-term load forecasting system (STLFS) using the data mining. The structure of the proposed STLFS is divided into two parts: the Takagi-Sugeno (T-S) fuzzy model-based classifier and predictor The proposed classifier is composed of the Gaussian fuzzy sets in the premise part and the linearized Bayesian classifier in the consequent part. The related parameters of the classifier are easily obtained from the statistic information of the training set. The proposed predictor takes form of the convex combination of the linear time series predictors for each inputs. The problem of estimating the consequent parameters is formulated by the convex optimization problem, which is to minimize the norm distance between the real load and the output of the linear time series estimator. The problem of estimating the premise parameters is to find the parameter value minimizing the error between the real load and the overall output. Finally, to show the feasibility of the proposed method, this paper provides the short-term load forecasting example.

Coupling bolts have replaced conventional fitted bolts in applications where the operator's safety during assembly/disassembly is of concern or where the cost of process interruption is significant. Coupling bolts have been installed on rotating flange couplings in a wide range of marine and power applications worldwide. Their use has been approved by all leading international and national classification societies and regulatory bodies. A coupling bolt is a hydraulically tensioned fitted bolt that creates a stable and rigid link between coupling flanges and simplifies assembly and disassembly. We measure the bolt dimensions for reverse engineering and study the standard of assembly-load using a mechanical formula in order to localize a coupling bolt for a shaft in a power plant. We experimentally obtain the friction coefficient and confirm the condition of bolt sets through structure analysis. We show the variation of contact pressure for the shape parameter in order to consider the result when redesigning a bolt.
The flexural behaviour of steel beams significantly affects the structural performance of the steel frame structures. In particular, the flexural overstrength (namely the ratio between the maximum bending moment and the plastic bending strength) that steel beams may experience is the key parameter affecting the seismic design of non-dissipative members in moment resisting frames. The aim of this study is to present a new formulation of flexural overstrength factor for steel beams by means of artificial neural network (NN). To achieve this purpose, a total of 141 experimental data samples from available literature have been collected in order to cover different cross-sectional typologies, namely I-H sections, rectangular and square hollow sections (RHS-SHS). Thus, two different data sets for I-H and RHS-SHS steel beams were formed. Nine critical prediction parameters were selected for the former while eight parameters were considered for the latter. These input variables used for the development of the prediction models are representative of the geometric properties of the sections, the mechanical properties of the material and the shear length of the steel beams. The prediction performance of the proposed NN model was also compared with the results obtained using an existing formulation derived from the gene expression modeling. The analysis of the results indicated that the proposed formulation provided a more reliable and accurate prediction capability of beam overstrength.
In this paper, the laser cutting characteristics of the flexible PCB using high power Nd:YAG UV laser were investigated. A specific FPCB model was selected for the experiment. Test sheets were made, which had equal materials and layer structure to those of the outline (OL) region and the contact pad (CP) region in the FPCB. The experiment is made up of two stages. In the first stage of the experiment, the laser cutting fluence was found, which is the threshold fluence to cut the test sheets completely. The laser cutting fluence of the OL sheet is $1781.26{\sim}1970.16\;J/cm^2$ and that of the CP sheet is $2109.34{\sim}2134.34\;J/cm^2$. In the second stage, cutting performance and its qualities were analyzed by the experiment. The laser cutting performance remained almost unchanged for all laser and process parameter sets. The average cutting width (top side/bottom side) of the OL sheet was $40.45\;{\mu}m/11.52\;{\mu}m$ and that of the CP sheet was $22.14\;{\mu}m/10.93\;{\mu}m$. However, the laser cutting qualities were different according to the parameters. The adjacent region of the cutting line on the OL sheet was carbonized as the beam speed was low and the overlap coefficient was high. The surface quality around the cutting line of the CP sheet was about the same. Carbonization and debris occurred on the surface of the cutting line. As a result of the experiment, the cutting qualities were better as the overlap coefficient was made low and beam speed high. Therefore, the overlap coefficient 2 or 3 is proper for the FPCB laser cutting.

Tunnelling in poor and heterogeneous ground is a difficult task. Even with a good geological investigation, uncertainties with respect to the local rock mass structure will remain. Especially for such conditions, a reliable short-term prediction of the conditions ahead and outside the tunnel profile are of paramount importance for the choice of appropriate excavation and support methods. The information contained in the absolute displacement monitoring data allows a comprehensive evaluation of the displacements and the determination of the behaviour and influence of an anisotropic rock mass. Case histories and with numerical simulations show, that changes in the displacement vector orientation can indicate changing rock mass conditions ahead of the tunnel face (Schubert & Budil 1995, Steindorfer & Schubert 1997). Further research has been conducted to quantify the influence of weak zones on stresses and displacements (Grossauer 2001). Sellner (2000) developed software, which allows predicting displacements (GeoFit$\circledR$). The function parameters describe the time and advance dependent deformation of a tunnel. Routinely applying this method at each measuring section allows determining trends of those parameters. It shows, that the trends of parameter sets indicate changes in the stiffness of the rock mass outside the tunnel in a similar way, as the displacement vector orientation does. Three-dimensional Finite Element simulations of different weakness zone properties, thicknesses, and orientations relative to the tunnel axis were carried out and the function parameters evaluated from the results. The results are compared to monitoring results from alpine tunnels in heterogeneous rock. The good qualitative correlation between trends observed on site and numerical results gives hope that by a routine determination of the function parameters during excavation the prediction of rock mass conditions ahead of the tunnel face can be improved. Implementing the rules developed from experience and simulations into the monitoring data evaluation program allows to automatically issuing information on the expected rock mass quality ahead of the tunnel.
To maintain safety and reliability of reactors, redundant sensors are usually used to measure critical variables and estimate their averaged time-dependency. Nonhealthy sensors can badly influence the estimation result of the process variable. Since online condition monitoring was introduced, the online cross-calibration method has been widely used to detect any anomaly of sensor readings among the redundant group. The cross-calibration method has four main averaging techniques: simple averaging, band averaging, weighted averaging, and parity space averaging (PSA). PSA is used to weigh redundant signals based on their error bounds and their band consistency. Using the consistency weighting factor (C), PSA assigns more weight to consistent signals that have shared bands, based on how many bands they share, and gives inconsistent signals of very low weight. In this article, three approaches are introduced for improving the PSA technique: the first is to add another consistency factor, so called trend consistency (TC), to include a consideration of the preserving of any characteristic edge that reflects the behavior of equipment/component measured by the process parameter; the second approach proposes replacing the error bound/accuracy based weighting factor ($W^a$) with a weighting factor based on the Euclidean distance ($W^d$), and the third approach proposes applying $W^d$, TC, and C, all together. Cold neutron source data sets of four redundant hydrogen pressure transmitters from a research reactor were used to perform the validation and verification. Results showed that the second and third modified approaches lead to reasonable improvement of the PSA technique. All approaches implemented in this study were similar in that they have the capability to (1) identify and isolate a drifted sensor that should undergo calibration, (2) identify a faulty sensor/s due to long and continuous missing data range, and (3) identify a healthy sensor.

The field scale experiment which is constructed with four sets (0.88 ha for each set) of wetland (0.8 ha) and pond (0.08 ha) systems was performed to examine the effect of plant coverage on the constructed wetland performance and to recommend the optimum development and management of macrophyte communities. After six growing seasons of wetlands, plant coverage was about 100%. And the concentration of DO showed low value (1.0~5.4 mg/L). This is caused by a blighted plant consumed dissolved oxygen with decay in water column. As the result, water column went to be anaerobic conditions and T-N removal rate are 58~67%. Dead vegetation increased nitrogen removal during winter because it is a source of organic carbon which is an essential parameter in denitrification. However, wetland released phosphorus caused by a blighted plant and accumulation, the removal rate of phosphorus might be decreased. To rise of DO concentration, the three open-waters were constructed in cell 3 and 4. Cell 3 has two open-waters (width 10 m, depth 1.8 m) and cell 4 has one open-water (width 20 m, depth 1.8 m). As the result, DO concentration and treatment efficiency of nutrient and BOD were improved. In case that constructed wetland is operated for a long time, physical circulation structure such as open water help continuous circulation of aerobic and anaerobic conditions. Through the constructed open-water, treatment efficiency of phosphorus and nitrogen in wetland could be improved effectively.
