To improve the strength of glass is being studied in order to contribute to weight saving of flat panel displays. Generally, the strength achieved of glass-ceramics is higher as is the fracture toughness by the formation of a heterogeneous phase inside glass. In this study, Ag-doped $45SiO_2-24CaO-24Na_2O-4P_2O_5\;and\;70SiO_2-10CaO-24Na_2O-10TiO_2$ glasses were irradiated to strengthen by crystallization using femto-second laser pulse. XRD, Nano-indenter and SEM etc., irradiation of laser pulse without heat-treated samples was analyzed. Samples irradiated by laser had higher value($4.4{\sim}4.56^*10-3Pa$) of elastic modulus which related with strength of glass than values heat-treated samples and these are $1.2{\sim}1.5$ times higher values than them of mother glass. This process can be applicable to the strengthening of thinner glass plate, and it has an advantage over traditional heat-treatment and ion-exchange method.

In this study, removal of OCA and organic impurities for recycling LCD touch panel glass was conducted by mechanical and chemical dissolution methode. Cut mill and oscillation mill were used for mechanical crushing of touch panel, and water, ethanol, dichloromethane were used to remove OCA and organic impurities. As a result of TGA, when applied only dicloromethane in the process, the efficiency of organic removal was to be best. In addition, removal effect of organic impurities increased as the cleaning temperature increased. As a result of zeta potential analysis to confirm the dispersion degree of touch panel glass in the solvent, the absolute value of the zeta potenial of water with the lowest cleaning effect was lower than other solvents, and it was confirmed that efficiency of organic removal is affected not only by the chemical dissolution properties but also the physical dispersion properties in the solvent.

This study addresses the development of a full duplex robotic system for transferring flat-panel display glass. We propose to accomplish this using a bidirectional linear transfer mechanism in place of the conventional rotary transfer mechanism. The developed full duplex robot comprises a driving part that carries the glass panel laterally, vertical part that can be moved up and down by means of a ball screw and linear motion guide arrangement, and hand part that slides by the cylinder of the driving part along the guide rail with a V-guide bearing attached to the bottom of the support. In addition, an alignment part prevents the hand part from derailing and holds the hand part while the driving part moves horizontally. The full duplex robot lifts and drives a glass panel directly while transferring it to the buffer and does not require rotational motion. Therefore, both transferring and stacking are realized with a single device. This device can be used in existing industrial facilities as an alternative to existing industrial robots in current as well as future process lines. The proposed full duplex robot is expected to save considerable amounts of time and space, and increase product throughput.

For the evaluation of the plasma display panel (PDP)'s noise, vibration and sound characteristics of fanless PDP are measured and investigated. PDP is a type of two-electrode vacuum tube which operates on the same principle as a household fluorescent light. An inert gas such as argon or neon is injected between two glass plates on which transparent electrodes have been formed, and the glass is illuminated by generating discharge. For this discharge, both high voltage and currents are needed and cause an acoustic noise. We investigated the noise characteristics connected with both a electromagnetic elements from SMPS to panel through X, Y and logic board, and a mechanical elements form panel to case through transfer path which related with vibration and heat. To reduce the noise of PDP, a discharge pulse memory design related with both higher brightness and lower power consumption is important and mechanical characteristics connected with dissipation process of both heat and vibration generated by panel discharge must be investigated.

There is a big move to build zero-energy buildings in the form of passive houses that reduce energy waste worldwide. Korea has set a goal of reducing its greenhouse gas emissions by 37% by 2030 through the activation of green buildings, such as strengthening the energy levels of new buildings and improving the energy efficiency of existing buildings. The use of insulation with high insulation performance is one of the key technologies to realize this, and vacuum insulation is the next generation insulation that blocks the energy flow of the building. In this study, we measured the bonding structure of dry and wet processing glass fiber core materials and compared the insulation performance of vacuum insulation panel. In addition, the insulation performance of vacuum insulation panel was measured according to the thickness of the laminated core. It can be confirmed that the lamination structure of the core and the lamination thickness are important factors for the heat insulating performance of the vacuum insulating panel.

Field emission displays(FED) are currently being study as a potential flat technology. The purpose of this project shows the research result of vacuum packaging technology for the development of FED. For FED vacuum packaging, the bonding of glass/glass, the exhaust of vacuum and getter technology have been studied for vacuum packaging technology The simulation and vacuum sealing, and glass/glass bonding are also extensively studied. The glass/glass bonding is formed by using the frit glass and the Inside pressure of complete panel showed of $2{\times}10^{-5}$[Torr]. As a getter result, the increase of pressure has been showed the decrease of outgassing effect by using thin film getter.

As the installation of solar panel accelerates, so does the number of solar panels reaching their end-of-life (EOL). However, the EOL solar panels is becoming a concern, as they contain potentially hazardous materials and are not easily recycled. Coping strategies such as effective collection, disposal, and recycling methods will be important to manage the growing number of EOL solar panels in the coming years. Therefore, many studies have focused on the development of EOL solar panel recycling technology. One recycling technology for EOL solar panels applicable to the construction field is the application of extracted tempered glass from EOL solar panels as construction materials. This study summarized the EOL solar panel disassembly technology and evaluated the mechanical properties of mortar using extracted tempered glass as fine aggregate. The results showed that when tempered glass was used as a fine aggregate in mortar, the compressive strength, flexural strength, and macro pores in the 1-3 ㎛ with 200-300 ㎛ range were affected, regardless of the disassembly technology of EOL solar panels. Especially, we found that the mechanical performance of mortar using chemically treated tempered glass was noticeably decreased due to changes in the chemical composition of the extracted tempered glass resulting from the removal of K2O and CuO due to chemical reactions. Meanwhile, it was found that when fly ash was used as a binder, the reduction of mechanical performance could be alleviated.
To fabricate mono layer green sheet (MLGS) of transparent dielectric for PDP front panel, dispersion of transparent dielectric slurry and various properties of green sheets were examined as a function of amount and kinds of organic additives. Sedimentation height and viscosity of slurry were measured to determine proper types and amount of dispersant in non-aqueous system transparent dielectric slurry. Many MLGS having various ratios of the transparent dielectric glass frit, binder and plasticizer were fabricated. Finally we got the transparent dielectric layer of high transparency and free from residual pore might be remained in the gap between the electrodes.
