  • The author has studied the effects of pain control by using the Anode-S-3 electro anesthesia in cavity preparations. The electric current value had used 4~10㎂. The results were as follows. 1) The 86 tests in cases of 110 tests as much as 78% of it have showed pain control effects and the 24 of tests as much as 22% had no effects in general. 2) The cases of perfect pain control was only made to 42 tests in cases of 110 tests as much as 38% of it. 3) The pain control with a little inordinary feeilng was 33 tests in 110 of it as much as 30% 4) The slight pain were recorded 22 cases as much as 21% of the tests. 5) The severe pain were recorded 12 cases as much as 11% of the tests. 6) Meanwhlie, the case of increasing pains by using electro-anesthesia was not recorded at all.

  • As rates of gastric cancer. fatness. and GERD (chronic gastric esophageal reflux disease) patients have been increased in the world, suturing mechanism using endoscope has been focused. which is the medical instrument to apply stitches and suturing inside the body, since it helps the patients lessen pains and reduce operation time. This paper deals with mechanism design, which makes it possible to apply multiple suturing without the repeat of inserting and removing the endoscope. This successive suture mechanism includes gripper, linkage, rotational part, and articulation part. Also, the mechanism is operated through 4mm one-side channel attached to the endoscope by means of pulling wires.

  • This study was to determine whether iontophoresis application would produce analgesic effect for clinical practice. Physical therapist controls pain produced by various causes and plays a role improving functional disability. I studied varieties of pain theories, mechanisms and iontoporosis principles which need for physical therapist. These were summarized as follwings; 1 . In the case of chronic patients, it is helpful to adapt iontophoresis treatment as well as generalized treatments which goals for pain releasc. 2. lontophoresis treatment should be positively examined to control pains safely. efficienently without sideeffects. 3. lontoporesis treatment suggests the foundations that hormone or anaesthetics should be incluided in the range of medicines physical therapist can deal with.

  • Although painful conditions of varying degrees of severity involving the soft tissues (i .e., muscles, tendons, ligaments, periosteum and peripheral nerves) occur frequently, their underlying pathogenesis is poorly understood. The term peripheral neuropathic pain has recently been suggested to embrace the combination of positive and negative symptoms in patients whose pain is due to pathological changes or dysfunction in peripheral nerves or nerve root. The spinal nerve root, because of its vulnerable position, is very easily prone to injury from pressure, stretch, angulation, and friction. Therefore, not a few of musculoskeletal chronic pains are result of nerve root dysfunction. Neuropathic changes due to nerve root dysfunction are primarily in soft tissue especially muscle, tendon and joint. It shows tenderness over muscle motor points and palpable muscle contracture bands and restricted Joint range. Careful palpation and physical examination is the important tool that, be abne to detect all of these phenomena.

  • Morinda citrifolia, also known as Great Morinda, Indian Mulberry, or Noni, is a plant belonging to the family Rubiaceae. A number of major chemical compounds have been identified in the leaves, roots, and fruits of the Noni plant. The fruit juice is in high demand in alternative medicine for different kinds for illnesses such as arthritis, diabetes, high blood pressure, muscle ached and pains, menstrual difficulties, headache, heart diseases, AIDS, gastric ulcer, sprains, mental depression, senility, poor digestion, arteriosclerosis, blood vessel problems, and drug addiction. Several studies have also demonstrated anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and apoptosis-inducing effects of Noni in various cancers. Based on a toxicological assessment, Noni juice was considered as safe. Though a large number of in vitro, and, to a certain extent, in vivo studies demonstrated a range of potentially beneficial effects, clinical data are essentially lacking. To what extent the findings from experimental pharmacological studies are of potential clinical relevance is not clear at present and this question needs to be explored in detail before an recommendations can be made.

  • Objective: This report aimed to study fibromyalgia's diagnostic criteria, differential diagnoses and its pathology from the viewpoint of oriental medicine. Method: We observed and diagnosed a female patient who complained of prolonged whole body pain, even several times hospitalized for treatment. Result: The patient's symptoms correspond with fibromyalgia and we ruled out other suspected diseases. Conclusion: Fibromyalgia is prone to be misdiagnosed because the patient has complicated symptoms such as various pains and chronic fatigue as well as depression unexplained by medical tests. Furthermore, the symptoms often never disappear completely, although it isn't progressive or life-threatening, and can be improved. So accumulation of data and analysis from the viewpoint of oriental medicine is necessary for development of oriental medical standard treatment.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to compare the effectiveness of (a) a self stretching exercise (SSE) maintained below the level of pain with (b) physical therapy (PT) performed without pain limitation in patients with adhesive capsulitis. Methods: Forty-three subjects with frozen shoulder were recruited. Subjects were randomly assigned to one of two groups - an experimental group (SSE group, $n_1=18$) and a control group (PT group, $n_2=25$). The duration of each intervention was five weeks. We assessed night pains, range of motion (ROM), and shoulder function. Results: Overall, subjects in both groups improved over five weeks (p<0.05). The change in the PT group was greater (p<0.05) Conclusion: SSE carried out under the pain threshold may be used to treat patients with adhesive capsulitis SSE can be prescribed with PT as part of a home program or of group management.
