Since 2019, the corona virus has been continuously affect human life. In particular, in the indoor space where people live, infection by airborne transmission of viruses is a problem. Among them, the spread in the subway, which is the main mode of transport for humans, can be serious. To solve this problem, our research team developed an ionic wind collector to collect and remove corona virus using an ionic wind collector and ozone. In order to apply the ionic wind collector to the subway, it must operate in two modes. Because large amounts of ozone are harmful to the human body. There is a mode that collects bio-aerosol from the air using ionic wind and a mode that inactivates viruses floating in the air by generating a large amount of ozone. As the applied voltage increased, the cleaning ability of the ionic wind collector increased, and the farther the distance between the discharge electrode and the ground plate, the higher the cleaning ability even at low current. In addition, clean air delivery rate (CADR) of an ionic wind collector was up to 5.5 m3/min. As a result of measuring the amount of ozone generated, it was confirmed that 50 ppb to 250 ppb was generated, and it was confirmed that ozone generation was controllable in the ionic wind dust collector.

In the Mexico City Metropolitan Area (MCMA), ozone ($O_3$) concentration is still higher than in other urban areas in developed countries. In order to reveal the current state of photochemical air pollution and to provide data for validation of chemical transport models, vertical profiles of meteorological parameters and ozone concentrations were measured by ozonesonde in two field campaigns: the first one, during the change of season from wet to dry-cold (November 2011) and the second during the dry-warm season (March 2012). Unlike previous similar field campaigns, ozonesonde was launched twice daily. The observation data were used to analyze the production and distribution of ozone in the convective boundary layer. The observation days covered a wide range of meteorological conditions, and various profiles were obtained. The evolution of the mixing layer (ML) height was analyzed, revealing that ML evolution was faster during daytime in March 2012 than in November 2011. On a day in November 2011, the early-morning strong wind and the resulting vertical mixing was observed to have brought the high-ozone-concentration air-mass to the ground and caused relatively high surface ozone concentration in the morning. The amount of produced ozone in the MCMA was estimated by taking the difference between the two profiles on each day. In addition to the well-known positive correlation between daily maximum temperature and ozone production, effect of the ML height and wind stagnation was identified for a day in March 2012 when the maximum ground-level ozone concentration was observed during the two field campaigns. The relatively low ventilation coefficient in the morning and the relatively high value in the afternoon on this day implied efficient accumulation of the $O_3$ precursors and rapid production of $O_3$ in the ML.

Air quality issues in Korea rapidly changed at the beginning of the 1990s from primary to secondary pollutants starting in Seoul, the capital of Korea. The present frame of national air pollution monitoring networks was established between the end of the 1980s and the beginning of the 1990s. Background monitoring was initiated in the middle of the 1990s in response to increasing public concern about the long-range transport of air pollutants. Apart from the national monitoring, both routine and intensive measurements of fine particles have been made for research purposes since the middle of the 1990s at several background sites. However, air pollution monitoring in urban areas for other purposes was relatively scarce as national monitoring has been concentrated in these areas. Although ozone pollution has become a significant issue in major metropolitan areas every summer, only a little information on ozone precursors is available. During the past few years, the number of national monitoring stations has greatly increased. The government has a plan to gradually expand monitoring items as well as stations. It is anticipated that highly detailed information on both photochemical reactants and products will be available within the next several years. More emphasis will be placed on toxic substances based on risk assessment in monitoring for both research and policy making.
Meteorological characteristics related to variations in ozone ($O_3$) concentrations in the Korean peninsula before, during, and after Typhoon Talas (1112) were analyzed using both observation data and numerical modeling. This case study takes into account a high $O_3$ episode (e.g., a daily maximum of ${\geq}90ppb$) without rainfall. Before the typhoon period, high $O_3$ concentrations in the study areas (e.g., Daejeon, Daegu, and Busan) resulted from the combined effects of stable atmospheric conditions with high temperature under a migratory anticyclone (including subsiding air), and wind convergence due to a change in direction caused by the typhoon. The $O_3$ concentrations during the typhoon period decreased around the study area due to very weak photochemical activity under increased cloud cover and active vertical dispersion under a low pressure system. However, the maximum $O_3$ concentrations during this period were somewhat high (similar to those in the normal period extraneous to the typhoon), possibly because of the relatively slow photochemical loss of $O_3$ by a $H_2O+O(^1D)$ reaction resulting from the low air temperature and low relative humidity. The lowest $O_3$ concentrations during the typhoon period were relatively high compared to the period before and after the typhoon, mainly due to the transport effect resulting from the strong nocturnal winds caused by the typhoon. In addition, the $O_3$ increase observed at night in Daegu and Busan was primarily caused by local wind conditions (e.g., mountain winds) and atmospheric stagnation in the wind convergence zone around inland mountains and valleys.
The vertical exchange of trace gases and aerosols in upper regions of the atmosphere is primarily controlled by the atmospheric conditions. The study of the vertical and temporal variation of the upward transport of $H_2O$ and the downward transport of $O_3$, NO$_2$, CO and other long-lived trace species will enable a better understanding of these transport mechanisms. (omitted)
Carbon monoxide (CO) is one of the important trace gases because its concentration in the troposphere directly influences the concentrations of tropospheric hydroxyl (OH), which controls the lifetimes of tropospheric trace gases. CO traces the transport of global and regional pollutants from industrial activities and large scale biomass burning. The distributions of CO were analyzed using the MOPITT data for East Asia, which were compared with the ozone distributions. In general, seasonal CO variations are characterized by a peak in the spring, which decrease in the summer. The monthly average for CO shows a similar profile to that for O$_3$. This fact clearly indicates that the high concentration of CO in the spring is possibly due to one of two causes: the photochemical production of CO in the troposphere, or the transport of the CO into East Asia. The seasonal cycles for CO and O$_3$ in East Asia are extensively influenced by the seasonal exchanges of different air mass types due to the Asian monsoon. The continental air masses contain high concentrations of O$_3$ and CO, due to the higher continental background concentrations, and sometimes to the contribution from regional pollution. In summer this transport pattern is reversed, where the Pacific marine air masses that prevail over Korea bring low concentrations of CO and O$_3$, which tend to give the apparent summer minimums.
In this study, removal characteristics of nitrogen oxides $(NO_x)$ from road transport by using peat as the packing media for biodegradation have been investigated in the long term. Physicochemical and biological treatment of peatmixed media eliminates any requirement to use chemical substances and also facilitates the biodegradable actions of microorganism. Safe biodegradation of pollutants, no need to apply additional microbes owing to their active growth, and no generation of secondary pollutants were found in this experiment. It was concluded that average removal efficiencies of nitric oxide (NO) and nitrogen dioxide $(NO_2)$ were 80% and 97% respectively with respect to the linear velocity 35~40 mm/s and 0.3 ppm ozone concentration in the long period operation. Inflow concentration of nitric oxide over 0.05 ppm was suitable when pretreated with ozone. Non-ozone stage was performed with linear velocity 20~100 mm/s and then the average removal efficiency of nitric oxide and nitrogen dioxide were 38% and 94% respectively. Other results showed that the apparent static pressure was raised with increases in applied water content and aerial velocity in mixed media during fan operation.

Atmospheric carbon monoxide (CO) and ozone $(O_3)$ play the important trace gases in tropospheric chemistry, through its concentration in the troposphere directly influences the concentrations of tropospheric hydroxyl (OH). Understanding the impact of CO and $O_3$ on the global tropospheric chemistry requires measurements of the global atmospheric CO and $O_3$ distributions. This study focuses on the identification of CO and O3 released in the East Asia between March 2000 and February 2004. During the period, the MOPITT instrument onboard the Earth Observing System (EOS)-Terra platform collected extensive measurement of CO. So we have used MOPITT data at 700hPa to analyze seasonal distribution of CO concentration. And the O3 measurements for this study were Total Ozone Mapping Spectrometer (TOMS) and Dobson spectrometer provided NASA/GSFC and Yonsei University, Korea. During springtime, the CO and O3 concentrations were increased over East Asia for April, May, and June. CO and O3 transport and chemistry in the springtime in East Asia are studied by use of the HYbrid Single Particle Lagrangian Integrated Trajectory (HYSPLIT) model.
Air pollutants($SO_2$, NOx, $O_3$ and aerosol number) were measured using an aircraft to investigate the characteristical features of long-range transport of sulfur compounds over the Yellow Sea for the periods of 26~27 April and 7~10 November in 1998. The mean $SO_2$ concentrations of April 26th~27th and November 7th~10th flight were 0.6~1.8 ppb and 0.5~8.3 ppb, respectively, and the sulfur transport was largely limited to the atmospheric boundary layer. Especially, $SO_2$ increased up to 8.3 ppb altogether with the increase of particle number concentraton especially on November 8, 1998. In addition, $O_3$ was remarkably decreased against the increase of $SO_2$and particle number concentrations. This enhanced $SO_2$ concentration occurred in the low level westerlies in association with the anticyclonic flow over Southern China and the cyclonic circulation over Manchuria. Aerosol analyses at Taean site also showed that sulfate concentration increased 2~3 times higher than those of another sampling days, which could suggest possible interactions between aerosol particels and tropospheric ozone. A rigorous evaluation will be possible after the more intensive measurements and quantitative analyses with detailed chemistry model including the postulated heterogeneous mechanism.
