The step response of the Manabe standard form[2] has little overshoot and show almost same waveforms regardless of the order of the characteristic polynomials. In some situations it is difficult to control the rise time and settling time simultaneously of the step response of the Manabe standard form To control its rise time and settling time efficiently, We develop the Manabe standard form: We try to find out the SRFS(Slow Rise time & Fast Setting time) form which has the slower rise time and faster settling time than those fo the Manabe standard form. We also consider the other three forms: FRSS(Fast Rise time & Slow Settling time), SRFS(Slow Rise time & Fast Settling time) and SRSS(Slow Rise time & Slow Settling time) forms. In this paper, by using the evolutionary strategy, we obtain all the coefficient of the four forms we mention above. Finally, we design a controller for a given plant so that the overall system has the performance that the rise time is faster, the settling time is faster than those of the Manabe standard form.
The Saffman-Taylor instability mechanisms in laminar premixed flames in a Hele-Shaw cell are investigated using two-dimensional numerical simulations with Poiseuille assumption for the viscous effect. The baseline calculations considering the Darrieus-Landau and diffusive-thermal instability modes show the results consistent with the classical linear instability theory. With the Saffrnan-Taylor instability mechanism. the overall effect is to enhance the destabilizing mechanism by providing an increased viscous force in the product gas. The linear instability behavior is found to qualitatively similar to the Darrieus-Landau mechanism. However, the results in the nonlinear range demonstrate that there may exist distinct characteristic time scales associated with Darrieus-Landau and Saffman-Taylor mechanisms, such that the latter effect sustains longer in time, contributing to a higher overall flame speed.

In this paper, we develop a co-design methodology of stochastic optimal controllers and network parameters that optimizes the overall quality of control (QoC) in networked control systems (NCSs). A new dynamic model for NCSs is provided. The relationship between the system stability and performance and the sampling frequency is investigated, and the analysis of co-design of control and network parameters is presented to determine the working range of the sampling frequency in an NCS. This optimal sampling frequency range is derived based on the system dynamics and the network characteristics such as data rate, time-delay upper bound, data-packet size, and device processing time. With the optimal sampling frequency, stochastic optimal controllers are designed to improve the overall QoC in an NCS. This co-design methodology is a useful rule of thumb to choose the network and control parameters for NCS implementation. The feasibility and effectiveness of this co-design methodology is verified experimentally by our NCS test bed, a ball magnetic-levitation (maglev) system.
This study was aimed at elucidating the composition and color in ginseng extracts during the processing and the long periods of the storage. The types of sugar were determined by using HPLC. In the model study with the fresh ginseng extracts stored at the elevated temperatures between 70-100$^{\circ}C$ for 24-96 hrs, it was shown an overall increase in the concentration of fructose and the overall reduction in the concentrations of sucrose and maltose with increase in the storage temperature and time. The concentration of glucose increased for 24 hrs of storage at all temperatures studied and then decreased with the storage time. Rhamnose in the extracts stored at 80$^{\circ}C$ for 72 hrs was identified and its concentration was increased at the higher storage temperature. The reduction of the concentrations of sugars related to the development of brown color during the processing and the storage.
In many high performance engineering systems such as automated production system and transportation systems, AC-servo drives are employed as the most Important driving parts. And the faults of servo drives result in overall system performance deterioration or an unscheduled shutdown In critical situations. The real-time fault detection and isolation(FDI) scheme Is very useful to prevent them and to guarantee the desired reliability of the overall system. In this paper, the FDI schemes which can be applied to AC servo drives are introduced and some new results are presented.

In this paper, we present a co-design methodology of dynamic optimal network-bandwidth allocation (ONBA) and adaptive control for networked control systems (NCSs) to optimize overall control performance and reduce total network-bandwidth usage. The proposed dynamic co-design strategy integrates adaptive feedback control with real-time scheduling. As part of this co-design methodology, a "closed-loop" ONBA algorithm for NCSs with communication constraints is presented. Network-bandwidth is dynamically assigned to each control loop according to the quality of performance (QoP) information of each control loop. As another part of the co-design methodology, a network quality of service (QoS)-adaptive control design approach is also presented. The idea is based on calculating new control values with reference to the network QoS parameters such as time delays and packet losses measured online. Simulation results show that this co-design approach significantly improves overall control performance and utilizes less bandwidth compared to static strategies.
In an asymmetrical speed channel environment like asymmetric digital subscriber line, the up-link bandwidth is normally smaller than the down-link bandwidth, which will lead to extremely low utilization of down-link bandwidth when current P2P video transmission is applied. To overcome this, a new fast P2P video transmission method applied in an asymmetrical speed channel environment is proposed in this paper. On the basis of the many-to-one concept, the proposed method uses a new multipeer aggregation technique to enhance the utilization of down-link bandwidth. In addition, an adaptive peer assignment algorithm is also introduced in order to minimize the overall transmission time. Experimental results show that by using our proposed method, the utilization of down-link bandwidth is significantly improved, and the overall transmission time is greatly reduced.
This paper presents an optimal operating strategy of distributed generation (DG) with reliability worth evaluation of distribution systems. Using DG for peak-shaving unit could reduce the overall system operating cost, and using DG for standby power unit could reduce the customer interruption cost. If DG operating cost is less than utility power cost in peak time, DG should be running to reduce the overall system operating cost. When customer interruption cost enlarges, however, standby power strategy may be the better operating strategy than peak-shaving strategy. Selection of whether DG should be operated for peak-shaving or for standby power, needs the accurate reliability worth evaluation and the accurate power cost evaluation. Instead of using annual average reliability worth, the concept of hourly reliability worth is introduced in this paper to determine the optimal operating decision of DG. Applying suggested hourly reliability worth, the distribution companies that possess DG could set up the optimal operating strategy of DG.
This paper presents a robust discrete-time direct adaptive pole-placement with new discrete parameter adaptation algorithm (PAA), the standard RLS is suitably modified by adding a term which is exponentially proportional to the filtered tracking error and using a signal normalization. It is shown that it makes the overall adaptive system more robust in the presence of disturbances or unmodeled dynamics. In order to discuss the robustness improvement by using the input-output stability theory, the overall adaptive control system is reformulated and the sector theory is applied. In addition, computer simulation results are presented to complement the theoretical development.
Load balancing is the major benefit of any distributed system. To facilitate this advantage, task duplication and migration methodologies are employed. As this paper deals with dependent tasks (DAG), we used duplication. Task duplication reduces the overall schedule length of DAG along-with load balancing. This paper proposes a new task duplication algorithm at the time of tasks assignment on various processors. With the intention of conducting proposed algorithm performance computation; simulation has been done on the Netbeans IDE. The mesh topology of a distributed system is simulated at this juncture. For task duplication, overall schedule length of DAG is the main parameter that decides the performance of a proposed duplication algorithm. After obtaining the results we compared our performance with arbitrary task assignment, CAWF and HEFT-TD algorithms. Additionally, we also compared the complexity of the proposed algorithm with the Duplication Based Bottom Up scheduling (DBUS) and Heterogeneous Earliest Finish Time with Task Duplication (HEFT-TD).
