  • In recent years, many people use R as a statistics system. R is frequently updated by many R project teams. We are interested in the method of multiple outlier detection and know that R is not supplied the method of multiple outlier detection. In this talk, we review these procedures for detecting multiple outliers and provide more efficient procedures combined with direct methods and indirect methods using R.

  • An outlier detection diagnostic for the detection of k-consecutive atypical observations is considered. The proposed diagnostic is based on the innovational variance estimate utilizing both the interpolated and the predicted residuals. We adopt the interpolation method to construct the proposed diagnostic by replacing atypical observations. The perfomance of the proposed diagnositc is investigated by simulation. A real example is presented.

  • In this paper, we show the performance evaluation of outlier detection methods based on the GARCH model. We first introduce GARCH model and the methods of outlier detection in the GARCH model. The results of small simulation and the real KOSPI data show the out-performance of the outlier detection method over the traditional method in the GARCH model.

  • Many procedures are available to identify a single outlier or an isolated influential point in linear regression and logistic regression. But the detection of influential points or multiple outliers is more difficult, owing to masking and swamping problems. The multiple outlier detection methods for logistic regression have not been studied from the points of direct procedure yet. In this paper we consider the direct methods for logistic regression by extending the $Pe\tilde{n}a$ and Yohai (1995) influence matrix algorithm. We define the influence matrix in logistic regression by using Cook's distance in logistic regression, and test multiple outliers by using the mean shift model. To show accuracy of the proposed multiple outlier detection algorithm, we simulate artificial data including multiple outliers with masking and swamping.

  • In this study, detection methods of outlier in various monitoring data that fit into big data category were developed and outlier detections were conducted for both artificial data and real field monitoring data. Rule-based methods applied rate of change and probability of error for monitoring data are effective to detect a large-scale short faults and constant faults having no change within a certain period. There are however, problems with misjudgement that consider the normal data with a large scale variation as outlier caused by using independent single dataset. Rule-based methods for noise faults detection have a limit to application of real monitoring data due to the problem with a choice of proper window size of data and finding of threshold for outlier judgment. A correlation analysis among different two datasets were very effective to detect localized outlier and abnormal variation for short and long-term monitoring dataset if reasonable range of training data could be selected.

  • Most of sampling surveys have outliers and non-response missing values simultaneously. In that case, due to the effect of outliers, the result of imputation is not good enough to meet a given precision. To overcome this situation, outlier treatment should be conducted before imputation. In this paper in order for reducing the effect of outlier, we study outlier imputation methods and outlier weight adjustment methods. For the outlier detection, the method suggested by She and Owen (2011) is used. A small simulation study is conducted and for real data analysis, Monthly Labor Statistic and Briquette Consumption Survey Data are used.

  • Intrusion detection system(IDS) has recently evolved while combining signature-based detection approach with anomaly detection approach. Although signature-based IDS tools have been commonly used by utilizing machine learning algorithms, they only detect network intrusions with already known patterns, Ideal IDS tools should always keep the signature database of your detection system up-to-date. The system needs to generate the signatures to detect new possible attacks while monitoring and analyzing incoming network data. In this paper, we propose a new outlier cluster detection algorithm with density (or influence) function, Our method assumes that an outlier is a kind of cluster with similar instances instead of a single object in the context of network intrusion, Through extensive experiments using KDD 1999 Cup Intrusion Detection dataset. we show that the proposed method outperform the conventional outlier detection method using Euclidean distance function, specially when attacks occurs frequently.

  • Outlier detection means to detect data samples that deviate significantly from the distribution of normal data. Most outlier detection methods calculate an outlier score that indicates the extent to which a data sample is out of normal state and determine it to be an outlier when its outlier score is above a given threshold. However, since the range of an outlier score is different for each data and the outliers exist at a smaller ratio than the normal data, it is very difficult to determine the threshold value for an outlier score. Further, in an actual situation, it is not easy to acquire data including a sufficient amount of outliers available for learning. In this paper, we propose a clustering-based outlier detection method by constructing a model representing a normal data region using only normal data and performing binary classification of outliers and normal data for new data samples. Then, by dividing the given normal data into chunks, and constructing a clustering model for each chunk, we expand it to the ensemble method combining the decision by the models and apply it to the streaming data with dynamic changes. Experimental results using real data and artificial data show high performance of the proposed method.

  • Detecting outliers among high-dimensional data encounters a challenging problem of screening the variables since relevant information is often contained in only a few of the variables. Otherwise, when a number of irrelevant variables are included in the data, the distances between all observations tend to become similar which leads to making the degree of outlierness of all observations alike. The subspace outlier detection method overcomes the problem by measuring the degree of outlierness of the observation based on the relevant subsets of the entire variables. In this paper, we survey recent subspace outlier detection techniques, classifying them into three major types according to the subspace selection method. And we summarize the techniques of each type based on how to select the relevant subspaces and how to measure the degree of outlierness. In addition, we introduce some computing tools for implementing the subspace outlier detection techniques and present results from the simulation study and real data analysis.

  • All kinds of monitoring data in construction site could have outlier created from diverse cause. In this study generation technique of synthesis value, its regression, final outlier detection and assessment are conducted to distinct outlier data included in extensive time series dataset. Synthesis value having weight factor of correlation between a number of datasets consist of many monitoring data enable to detect outlier by increasing its correlation. Standard artificial dataset in which intentional outliers are inserted has been used for assessment of synthesis value technique. These results showed increase of detection accuracy for outlier and general tendency in case of having different time series models in common. Accuracy of outlier detection increased in case of using more dataset and showing similar time series pattern.
