A measurement device for gas concentration and flow rate using hot wire is developed for the utilization in industrial applications. The device has two cells of measuring and reference, and a bridge circuit is installed to detect electric current through the hot wire in the cells. An amplification of the signal and conversion to digital output are conducted for the on-line measurement with a personal computer. The flow rate of air and carbon dioxide gas is separately measured for the performance examination of the device. Also, the concentration of air-carbon dioxide and carbon dioxide-argon mixtures is determined for the same evaluation. The outcome of the performance test indicates that the accuracy and stability of the device is satisfactory for the purpose of industrial applications.

This study aims to examine the effects of integrated performance measurement on firm success of beverage businesses in Thailand. Integrated performance measurement, organizational commitment, organizational citizenship behavior, and firm success are the main variables of the study. In this study, all 653 beverage businesses from Department of Business Development, Ministry of Commerce, Thailand are the samples of the study. The data collection was provided during February - April, 2016. A mail survey procedure via questionnaire was used for data collection. 163 responses were received. Of the surveys completed and returned, 159 were usable. The structural equation model (SEM) is conducted to examine the effects of integrated performance measurement on organizational commitment, organizational citizenship behavior and firm success. The results show that integrated performance measurement positively influences organizational commitment, organizational citizenship behavior and firm success. Organizational commitment positively affects both organizational citizenship behavior and firm success while organizational citizenship behavior positively impacts firm success. In summary, integrated performance measurement as a strategic management accounting approach is a key determinant of firms' business outcome. Firms need to support their resources and capabilities in developing, implementing, utilizing, and maintaining integrated performance measurement. Potential discussion, conclusion, and suggestions and directions for future research are highlighted.
This study investigated elementary students' (grade 4~6) learning progressions for water cycling drawn from iterative assessments using ordered multiple-choice (OMC) items. An assessment system, which consisted of construct map, item design, outcome space, and measurement model, was employed in this study to examine children's learning progressions. At the first stage of the assessment system, a construct map was designed on which children's conceptual understandings from naive to most sophisticated were represented. At the item design stage, 8 OMC items were drawn from the construct map. Each item option of the OMC items was scored from 0 to 3 according to its level of understanding at the stage of outcome space. As a measurement model, Rasch model, a branch of item response theory, was applied to interpreting the outcomes of the OMC items. This cycle of assessment system was furtherly implemented iteratively in order to elaborate on the first version of water cycling learning progression. In conclusion, children's understanding of water cycling could be described in two aspects: water distribution and water movement. We identified children's conjectural developmental pathways about water cycling existed from superficial and naive accounts to more complex and abstract accounts.

This study proposes a three-stage model of R&BD performance which captures commercialization outcomes as well as conventional R&D performance. The model is composed of three factors : inputs (R&D budgets and researchers), outputs (patents and papers), and outcomes (technical fees, products sales, and cost savings). Three stages are defined for each transformation process between the three factors : efficiency stage from input to output (stage 1), effectiveness stage from output to outcome (stage 2), and productivity stage from input to outcome (stage 3). The performance of each stage is measured by data envelopment analysis (DEA). DEA is a non-parametric efficiency measurement technique that has widely been used in R&D performance measurement. We measure the performance of 171 projects of 6 public R&BD programs managed by Seoul Business Agency using the proposed three-stage model. In order to provide a balanced and holistic view of R&BD performance, the R&BD performance map is also constructed based on performance of efficiency and productivity stages.

The purpose of this study is to build outcomes evaluation system for measuring outcomes of programs provided by a public library. For the study, we constructed outcomes evaluation system(LibOutcomes system) that applied library outcome measurement framework based on the logic model and this system made librarians to measure outcome directly import data from the KOLAS and upload it. As a result, LibOutcomes system was useful for verifying outcomes as visual result. In addition, since the system was built a web-based system, it is possible to secure accessibility and ease of use. Finally, we suggested possibility to expand the system as a function of KOLAS in the future.

The purpose of this study is to measure the outcomes of a program provided by a public library using the evaluation framework based on Logic Model. A reading program for children which was operated by a public library in Seoul was selected. The outcome evaluation was started with the analysis of the reading program process including planning, operation, and evaluation. Based on the analysis, a logic model framework for outcome evaluation was developed. For evaluation, user, bibliography, and circulation data were collected from the library KOLAS system. Additionally, the participant information were extracted from the final report drafted after the program. The research results show that the number of circulation of program participants was increased after the program. In addition, the range of reading topic was expanded. These findings indicate that the reading program is an effective program for promoting children's reading habit and that outcome evaluation might be a valid tool to measure the effectiveness of public library programs.
Background: Randomized controlled trials (RCTs) provide evidence on the effectiveness and safety of interventions and inform systematic reviews and guideline preparation for clinical application. However, methodological flaws can occur in many RCTs, and Cochrane's risk of bias version 2 (RoB2) can be used to evaluate RCTs' risk of bias (RoB). However, physical therapy RCTs in Korea did not confirm RoB. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to evaluate RoB using RoB2 in RCTs published in the Korean Physical Therapy Journal. Design: Review. Methods: The RCTs subject to evaluation were RCTs published in 11 physical therapy journals in Korea from 2018 to 2022. RoB2 evaluated a total of five domains: bias arising from the randomization process, bias due to deviations from intended interventions, bias due to missing outcome data, bias in measurement of the outcome, and bias in selection of the reported result. Results: A total of 616 RCTs were evaluated. As for bias arising from the randomization process, high risk was the highest at 555 (90.1%), followed by low risk at 41 (6.7%) and some concerns at 20 (3.2%). For bias due to deviations from intended interventions, the proportion of some concerns was the highest at 390 (63.3%), followed by high risk at 218 (35.4%) and low risk at 8 (1.3%). As for the bias due to missing outcome data, the rate of low risk was the highest at 399 (64.8%), followed by high risk at 159 (25.8%) and some concerns at 58 (9.4%). As for bias in measurement of the outcome, high risk was the highest at 294 (47.7%), followed by low risk at 224 (36.4%) and some concerns at 98 (15.9%). In the bias due to missing outcome data, the ratio of high risk was the highest at 610 (99%), followed by low risk at 4 (0.7%) and some concerns at 2 (0.3%). Conclusion: Most of the RoB evaluation results of RCTs published in the Korean Physical Therapy Journal were rated as high risk. Methodological quality of RCTs needs to be improved.
Objective : The aim of this study was to analyze the treatment results and prognostic factors in patients with massive cerebral infarction who underwent decompressive craniectomy. Methods : From January 2000 to December 2005, we performed decompressive craniectomy in 24 patients with massive cerebral infarction. We retrospectively reviewed the medical records, radiological findings, initial clinical assessment using the Glasgow Coma Scale, serial computerized tomography (CT) with measurement of midline and septum pellucidum shift, and cerebral infarction territories. Patients were evaluated based on the following factors : the pre- and post-operative midline shifting on CT scan, infarction area or its dominancy, consciousness level, pupillary light reflex and Glasgow Outcome Scale. Results : All 24 patients (11 men, 13 women; mean age, 63 years; right middle cerebral artery (MCA) territory, 17 patients; left MCA territory, 7 patients) were treated with large decompressive craniectomy and duroplasty. The average time interval between the onset of symptoms and surgical decompression was 2.5 days. The mean Glasgow Coma Scale was 12.4 on admission and 8.3 preoperatively. Of the 24 surgically treated patients, the good outcome group (Group 2 : GOS 4-5) comprised 9 cases and the poor outcome group (Group1 : GOS 1-3) comprised 15 cases. Conclusion : We consider decompressive craniectomy for large hemispheric infarction as a life-saving procedure. Good preoperative GCS, late clinical deterioration, small size of the infarction area, absence of anisocoria, and preoperative midline shift less than 11mm were considered to be positive predictors of good outcome. Careful patient selection based on the above-mentioned factors and early operation may improve the functional outcome of surgical management for large hemispheric infarction.
This research examines performance evaluatees' opinions regarding the institutional performance evaluation systems of Government S&T Research Institutes (GRI). Research methodology is as follows: first, four perspectives of Kaplan & Norton (1992) Balanced Scorecard Model are revised into six perspectives suitable to GRI's characteristics. Second, experts classify current performance evaluation measures into the six perspectives. This enables different evaluation systems of three GRI evaluation groups to be compared under the same evaluation measures. Third, GRI's evaluatees are asked to allocate ideal weights on the performance measures. The evaluatees' weights are compared with the weights of current performance measures, and the characteristics of evaluatees' opinions about current performance evaluation systems are analyzed. Results are as follows; first, six perspectives for Korean GRIs are financial, long-term outcome, short-term outcome, strategic direction, project management, human resources perspectives. second, GRI evaluation systems put the most weights on the long- and short-term outcome perspectives and the least weights on the financial perspective. This result complies with theoretical model: in performance evaluation of GRIs, the customer perspective is the most important one while the financial perspective is the least important one. Third, evaluatees think that the long-term outcome perspective of the Basic-technology GRI group and the short-term outcome perspective of the Applied-technology GRI Group needs more weight. Fourth, it is found that the current systems have more weights on the project management and strategic direction perspectives than evaluatees think. The possible explanation of this result would be that since the measures of these perspectives are relatively easier to set up than those of other perspectives, the current systems contains larger number of measures and, accordingly more weights.
We increasingly see the importance of employees acquiring enough expert capability or innovation capability to prepare for ever growing uncertainties in their operation domains. However, despite the above circumstances, there have not been an enough number of researches on how operational input components for employees' innovation outcome, innovation activities such as acquisition, exercise and promotion effort of employee's innovation capability, and their resulting innovation outcome interact with each other. This trend is believed to have been resulted because most of the current researches on innovation focus on the units of country, industry and corporate entity levels but not on an individual corporation's innovation input components, innovation outcome and innovation activities themselves. Therefore, this study intends to avoid the currently prevalent study frames and views on innovation and focus more on the strategic policies required for the enhancement of an organization's innovation capabilities by quantitatively analyzing employees' innovation outcomes and their most suggested relevant innovation activities. The research model that this study deploys offers both linear and structural model on the trio of learning, innovation capability and innovation outcome, and then suggests the 4 relevant hypotheses which are quantitatively tested and analyzed as follows: Hypothesis 1] The different levels of innovation capability produce different innovation outcomes (accepted, p-value = 0.000<0.05). Hypothesis 2] The different amounts of learning time produce different innovation capabilities (rejected, p-value = 0.199, 0.220>0.05). Hypothesis 3] The different amounts of learning time produce different innovation outcomes. (accepted, p-value = 0.000<0.05). Hypothesis 4] the innovation capability acts as a significant parameter in the relationship of the amount of learning time and innovation outcome (structural modeling test). This structural model after the t-tests on Hypotheses 1 through 4 proves that irregular on-the-job training and e-learning directly affects the learning time factor while job experience level, employment period and capability level measurement also directly impacts on the innovation capability factor. Also this hypothesis gets further supported by the fact that the patent time absolutely and directly affects the innovation capability factor rather than the learning time factor. Through the 4 hypotheses, this study proposes as measures to maximize an organization's innovation outcome. firstly, frequent irregular on-the-job training that is based on an e-learning system, secondly, efficient innovation management of employment period, job skill levels, etc through active sponsorship and energization community of practice (CoP) as a form of irregular learning, and thirdly a model of Yί=f(e, i, s, t, w)+${\varepsilon}$ as an innovation outcome function that is soundly based on a smart system of capability level measurement. The innovation outcome function is what this study considers the most appropriate and important reference model.
