At here, we investigated the historical background, current stage, and concrete therapies of alternatives in cancer therapy. We obtained the conclusion below. 1. Alternative medicine(AM) is a unothodoxial medical physiology, medical practice or intervension that overcome the side effects, faults, limits of coventional medicine. 2. Recentely, as emerging New-age movement, collapse of Decarte's mecanical cosmology, and emphasis on patient rights, the interest of AM is increased, and foreign & domestic use rates of AM are risen. 3. After coventional medicine in cancer therapies that depends on operations, radiations, and chemotherapy is bounded, Alternatives in cancer therapy are rapidly developed, and the majority of users are often considered satisfactory. 4. Alternatives in cancer therapy are classified six boundaries; Diet and Nutrition, Mind-body Technique, Integrated System, Pharmacologic and Biologic treatments, Immuno Enhanced Therapy, Natural and herbal medicine. 5. Looking at contents of Alternatives in cancer therapy, we get to know most of them are similar to the treatment of oriental medicine in holistic method, therapy, philosophy. If we synthesize the alternative medicine's treatment mentioned above and investigate it with oriental medical viewpoint, that may help us approach the conquest of cancer and improve the rate of cure. 6. It is certain that foreign AM will be imported reversely, and we must prepare for rebuilding of Korean traditional AM systemically, investing for activity positively, making national policy for medical system.

Background : Atopic Dermatitis is a chronic and recurrent skin disease. it is characterized as itch-scratch cycle and topical or systemic use of corticosteroids is required in western medicine. Though its effects on major symptoms are impressive, these treatments are prone to several side effects and tend to recur after months or years. So potential treatments have been actively studied in Estern medicine, especially Sasang constitutional therapy, which has fewer side effects. Objectives : The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of Sasang constitutional therapy on treating severe adult Atopic Dermatitis and preventing its recurrent symptoms. Methods : fifteen patients who had severe adult Atopic Dermatitis attended treatment of Sasang constitutional therapy and were followed up for one year. An oriental internal specialist first isolated Sasang constitution and a distinctive body type. Grading of Atopic dermatitis was measured by the guidelines offered by Rajka G. and Langeland T. Results : After treatment with Sasang constitutional therapy, the patients symptoms were improved and the mean Rajka and Langeland score reduced significantly from $7.73{\pm}0.79\;to\;3.4{\pm}10.91$. During the follow-up period of one year, the mean Rajka and Langeland score was $2.72{\pm}2.06$ which was lower than last treatment. Conclusions : The results of this study support Sasang constitutional therapy as an effective therapy for severe adult Atopic Dermatitis. Follow up data suggest that this Eastern medical approach is of greater clinical value than the western medical approach in the long term.

Objectives : The purpose of this study is to investigate the clinical effects of heating-conduction acupuncture therapy on lumbago induced by iliolumbar ligament sprain. Methods : From September 25 to December 30, 2009, the 8 outpatients who had admitted to department of oriental rehabilitation medicine, Dae-Jeon oriental medical hospital, Dae-Jeon university, with acute lumbago were performed heating-conduction acupuncture therapy on iliolumbar ligament sprain. To evaluate the efficiency of heating-conduction acupuncture therapy, visual analogue scale(VAS) and short-form McGill pain questionnaire(SF-MPQ) were applied before treatment and after 1st, 2nd treatment. Results : 1.The VAS and SF-MPQ scores showed statistically significant improvement after 1st treatment. 2. The VAS and SF-MPQ scores after 2nd treatment showed better improvement than those of before and 1st treatment, but had no statistical significance compared with those of before and 1st treatment. Conclusions : Heating-conduction acupuncture therapy has clinical effects of pain reduction on patient with acute lumbago induced by iliolumbar ligament sprain.

Objectives : This study was designed to find out the characteristic of patients who had admitted due to traffic accident and to promote the superiority of oriental medical treatment on the sequelae of traffic accident. Methods : We analyzed 332 traffic accident patients statistically according to medical charts, who had been hospitalized from January 1,20000 to October 30, 2004. Results and Conclusions : The analysis showed that there was no significant difference in sex(p<0.05), but the older group and the shorter group of interval time from onset to addmission had the better remedial result(p<0.05). The most common diagnosis that had the better remedial result was lumbar sprain, followed by multiple contusion, cervical sprain, herniated lumbar disc, herniated cervical disc(p<0.05), and the most effective oriental medical treatment was moxibusition, followed by blood cupping therapy, taping therapy, chuna therapy except acupuncture, herbal medication, oriental physical therapy(p<0.05). In using of TENS, ICT, U/S, complex therapy had better remedial result than single therapy(p<0.05). The longer period of treatment group had better remedial result generally(p<0.05).

Objectives : This study was performed to evaluate the effect of Bee Venom Acupuncture Therapy on Lumbar Spinal Stenosis. Methods : The patient was diagnosed as Lumbar Spinal Stenosis through Lumbar spine MRI and treated with Bee Venom Acupuncture Therapy and so on and measured of VAS and ODI score to evaluate treatment effects. Results and Conclusions : ROM of Lumbar, Milgram test and sensory test has improved. VAS and ODI score were also decreased.

Objectives : The purpose of this study was to investigate the clinical application of Starvation and coffee enema and oriental medical therapy to a patient with obesity caused by overeating and lack of exercise. Methods : This study was carried out on a patient who had obesity caused by overeating and lack of exercise, and whose body weight was reduced through starvation, coffee enema and oriental medical therapy. After checked body weight, we analyzed effect of starvation, coffee enema and oriental medical therapy. Results and conclusions : Following the treatment the patient's body weight was reduced. The present results suggest that starvation coffee enema and oriental medical therapy has positive effects on an obese patient

Objectives : The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of aroma therapy on sleep disorder patients with musculoskeletal pain. Methods : The 44 patients were divided into 2 groups: Experimental group(Exp. group) was treated with aroma therapy and control group was treated except aroma therapy. To evaluate the efficiency of aroma therapy, the Korean sleep scale A(Jin-Joo Oh, Mi-Soon Song, Sin-Mi Kim, 1998) and visual analogue scale(VAS) were applied before treatment and after 5 days treatment. Results : 1. The Experimental group has improved statistical significance in sleep disorder score as compare to the control group. 2. The improvement of sleep disorder score of Exp.group has difference according to impression. 3. The improvement of sleep disorder has an effect on pain decrease. Conclusions : Aroma therapy has effects of improvement on sleep disorder with musculoskeletal pain.

Objective : This study was performed to compare needle acupuncture combined herbal acupuncture therapy with only needle acupuncture therapy in VAS and pain threshold. Methods : We used pressure algometer to evaluate the change of pain threshold before and after treatment. The numberical value of pressure algometer is obtained twice and averaged by identical acupuncturist. Visual analogue scale(VAS) was used to estimate the efficacy of needle acupuncture combined herbal acupuncture therapy. Result : The following results were obtained; 1. The significant difference in VAS was showed before and after treatment in only needle acupuncture therapy. 2. The significant difference in pain threshold and VAS was showed before and after treatment in needle acupuncture combined herbal acupuncture therapy. 3. In the pain threshold, the significant difference between only needle acupuncture and needle acupuncture combined herbal acupuncture therapy was not showed. 4. Needle acupuncture combined herbal acupuncture therapy showed the more effective change of VAS than only needle acupuncture therapy. Conclusions : In the pain control, needle acupuncture combined herbal acupuncture therapy is more effective than only needle acupuncture therapy.

The purpose of this study is to introduce the music therapy as one of the 17 kinds of oriental medicine music therapy and investigate the record in the literature. The spleen is an organ that has the function of digestion, absorption, and supply of nutrition. Damp, anxiety, and improper diet can cause deficiency syndrome of the spleen. The symptoms of deficiency of the spleen are poor appetite, abdominal distension, borborygmus, water-grain dysentery, dyspepsia, and lack of strength in limbs. CV12, CV6, S36, B20, B21, and Sp4 are can be used as acupuncture points that are a great help to the patients who suffer from deficiency of the spleen. This study describes the theory of invigorating the spleen music therapy that has a good possibility as a new method of oriental medical treatment and present the acupuncture points that can be used with invigorating the spleen music therapy. The tone of the spleen is Gung(宮) and the sound of the spleen is related to a song. The music therapy of invigorating the spleen includes beating Earth-Gi(地氣) rhythm with Cheonnyeonmanse, stimulating Spleen Meridian and Stomach Meridian with Gayaguem sanjo jungjungmori, and acupuncture with "Le Cygne" of Camille Saint-Saens.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the clinical application of oriental medical therapy for Insomnia due to Qi and Blood deficiency and insufficiency of Heart. In this case, we treated the patient with insomnia by oriental medical therapy, specially Insamyaogyung-tang(人蔘養榮湯) and Gong-jin-dan(拱辰丹), And we checked patient's sleeping time. In result, at the first time, the patient slept only one hour. After oriental medical therapy, the patient slept over 6 hours, Conclusionally oriental medical therapy, specially Insamyaogyung-tang(人蔘養榮湯) and Gong-jin-dan(拱辰丹) is very helpful for the patient of insomnia due to Qi and Blood deficiency, and insufficiency of Heart.
