Objective : To observe the biological responses and therapeutic effects of moxibustion and review the trend of related study. Methods : We searched and investigated the journals supplied by Pubmed online site and Je-Han Oriental Medical Academy homepage with the key word "moxibustion". Results : 1. The biological responses of moxibustion reveal on skelectal, digestive, urinary systems, especially blood, angiological systems. 2. The therapeutic effect of moxibustion are analgesic action, controls of excitation or inhibitation of nerve system, improvement of blood circulation, nutrition in organs, increase of absorption of pathlogical product, controls of secreting glands, care of tuberculosis, increase of natural healing power etc. 3. Moxibustions effects on diarrhea, edema, diabetus mellitus, hyperlipiemia, tinnitus, osteoporosis, facial palsy, myopia, pimple etc. 4. Most of moxibustion studys related on immunofunctional actions and renal functional actions. 5. To elevated quality of studies, we needs well-designed epeerimental methods, efficient secure of experimental groups, appropriate statistical verification, accumulations of knowledges about data research. Conclusions : We find out moxibustion is remakble on clinincal therapeutic effects, from now on much more studies are needed to develop this therapy.

Objective : The therapeutic exercise on low back found In the literatures mostly have adopted methods that are applied to only certain muscles. The purpose of this paper to classify various low pains and to Investigate an active physical treatment can be applied to certain low back pain. Methods : By exploring the journals and medical publications. Results and Conclusions 1. A goal of low back exercise is reinforcement and extension of muscles in order to control pains. 2 Low back exercise which causes the movement of the spinal joint and disk can control pains. 3. Flexion exercise of lumbar spine can be generally applied to any low back pains except kyposis. 4. Extension exercise of lumbar spine can be applied to any low back pains except facet joint syndrome or hyperlordosis. 5. Rotation exercise of lumbar spine can be applied to any low back pains except facet joint syndrome. 6. Lateral bending exercise of lumbar spine can be applied to HNP. facet Joint syndrome, scoliosis.

This report describes the studies as follows through the research into the data of Cimicifuga heraclefolia Komarov blended prescriptions from Donguibogam. Cimicifuga heracleifola Komarov blended prescriptions are utilized for 39 therapeutic ranges. such as in dentistry, onclology, and 16 therapeutic ranges occupy over 84% totally, from dentistry to nasal disease. Cimicifuga heracleifola Komarov blended prescriptions use in the symptpms resulting from dentistry, intestine, internal disease, and they are used 22 disease also. The main pathologies of Cimicifuga heracleifola Komarov blended prescriptions found weakness in the digestive system, heat of stomach, wind of stomach in the splanchnology, and pathologies of wind-heat, wind-moisture, cold, excluding they are using for energy-blood, weakness, internal disease. The actual amount of Cimicifuga heracleifola Komarov blended has a wide capacity from 2 pun to 5 don, 1 don is broadlly used by 26%. Objectives : To observe the therapeutic effects of Oriental herbal prescriptions on an advanced metastatic gallbladder cancer patient. Methods : Hang-Am-Plus (HAP), Gun-Chil-Gye-Bok-Jung (GGJ) and Se-Gan-San (SGS) were prescribed three times a day. To observe the therapeutic effects of oriental medical prescriptions, computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) images, tumor markers and laboratory tests were carried out regularly. Results : The levels of AST, ALT, ALP, ${\gamma}$-GTP, TB, DB, CA19-9, and CEA decreased significantly from November 29th 2011 to March 14th 2012. There was no interval change on CT images taken between November 15th 2011 and January 3rd 2012. Conclusions : In this case, it could be concluded that Oriental medicinal treatment might be considered as a palliative alternative therapy for the advanced metastatic gallbladder patient.

A general concept of Geun includes the soft organizations such as a muscle, a myofascia, a tendon and a ligament, cartilages and nerves that surround it. The main function of it is a movement of the body such as a flextion and a extension, a connection of the joints, and a construction of the body shape. Lately, we consider Geun important little by little, develop a variety of the therapeutic measures which make use of it, and apply it to the treatment in the oriental medicine, And the therapeutic measures which utilize Geun will be developed from now on. Therefore, this study reviewed and analyzed the direction of the research referred to Geun in the oriental medicine and the tendency to the experiment to grow the study referred to Geun in oriental medicine continuously and developed the new direction. This study collected 44's theses reported in the oriental medical journal and analyzed in accordance with the journal, time, form and topics. The following results were obtained in this study; 1. In the theses referred to Geun, the journal of Korean acupuncture & moxibustion society and of Korean oriental medicine have the most of them(11's theses) and at the next the journal of oriental rehabilitation medicine has 9's theses. 2. By analyzing the form of the theses, these were classified into the theoretical, experimental and clinical studies. The theoretical these occupied 39%, the experimental theses 54%, and the clinical theses 7%. 3. By analyzing the theses referred to Geun, these were classified into the muscular abnormality - such as a powerlessness, a injury, a atrophy, a disorder, and a pain - the theory of muscles along the regular meridians, the muscular organization, the therapeutic measures, the manipulation and so on. 4. The theses of the muscular abnormality occupied 30% of them referred to Geun and the theory of muscles along the regular meridians 20%, the muscular organization 12%, the therapeutic measures 12%, and the manipulation 8%. According to the above results, the study of the new field referred to Geun and the clinical report are indispensable since the field is limited and the tendency is theoretical and experimental.

Donguibogam's views on human life provide us with insight into suicide prevention by perceiving life as priceless. In addition to the approaches of modern medicine, we can employ 'mentally and physically integrative treatment' and 'prevention-based treatment' from Korean medicine as a therapeutic point of view. We can also employ 'I-Jeong-Byeon-Gi Therapy' and 'Oh-Ji-Sang-Seung Therapy' as therapeutic methods. In this paper, we consider these approaches and clinical adaptations for suicide prevention from the perspectives of Korean medicine.

In Sasang constitutional medicine, a part of oriental medicine, there are beneficial foods of harmful foods according to the each constitutions. Until now, most of the studies have investigated the classification of foods according to the each constitutions, The clinical usage of the constitutional diets in now in the beginning. The purpose of this study is to investigate the therapeutic effects of the constitutional diets in comparison with general therapeutic diets in the patients with hyperlipidemia. From January to August, 1999, the 65 hyperlipidemic patients admitted to Kyung Hee Oriental Medical Center were studied. Therapeutic diet for hyperlipidemic patients or each constitutional diets were given to the subjects 3 meals a day for 6 weeks. The Sasang constitutional classification, food habits were assessed. The anthropometric assessment and blood analysis were carried out before and after taking each experimental diets. The results are as folow ; 1) The mean age of the objects was 62.4${\pm}$6.5 years, the distribution of their constitution were Tae-eumin :63.0%, So-yangin :26.2% So-eumin: 10.8%. 2) The mean body weight and BMI of Tae-eum were significantly higher than those of So-eum and So-yang. 3) Food habits of each constitutional groups were very similar to those described by sasang medicine. 4) The therapeutic and constitutional diets lowered the serum levels of total lipid(from 756.4mg/dl to 692.3mg/dl) triglyceride(from 244.4mg/dl to 212.mg/dl) and VLDL-cholesterol(from 48.9mg/dl to 42.5mg/dl). The therapeutic diet decreased the HDL-cholesterol level(from 49.0mg/dl to 41.7mg/dl) but the constitutional diet did not. 5) The effects of the therapeutic and constitutional diets were the highest in Tae-eum group. In the So-yang group, the constitutional diet lowered the levels of total lipid and LDL-cholesterol but the therapeutic diet did not. But the therapeutic and constitutional diets did not change the blood lipid levels significantly in the So-eum group.(Korean J Nutrition 33(8) : 824-832, 2000)

Objectives : This study is to evaluate Effect of Hong Hua Za acupuncture anti-inflammatory on rheumatoid arthritis that caused by Lipopolysaccharide in mouse. Methods : Hong Hua Za(Carthami Tinctorii Fructus) acupuncture(HA) was prepared and tested for therapeutic potential of rheumatoid arthritis, by measuring the inhibition of inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) expression, nitric oxide(NO) production in vitro experiment, by measuring Tumpr Necrosis Factor-$\alpha$(TNF-$\alpha$) & Nuclear Factor kappa B(NF-$\kappa$B) p65 activation, synovial hyperplasia, angiogenesis and fibrosis in synovial membrane of knee joint of mice. Results : HA showed therapeutic effects on Lipopolysaccharide(LPS)-induced rheumatoid arthritis. HA inhibited iNOS mRNA and NO in RAW264.7cell of LPS-induced rheumatoid arthritis in a dose dependent manner. HA also showed significant inhibition of TNF-$\alpha$ & NF-$\kappa$B p65, activation, synovial hyperplasia, angiogenesis and fibrosis in synovial membrane of knee joint of mice. Conclusions : These results suggest that HA has an therapeutic effects on LPS induced-rheumatoid arthritis by inhibiting TNF-$\alpha$ activation.

Impulse of ki refers to palpitation around the navel, it is mostly caused by impairment of yang due to erroneous sweating, deficiency of the spleen yang. Behcet's syndrome caused by prolonged damp-heat and pathogenic germs. Its symptoms are characterized by conjunctival congestion, blue canthus and ulceration of the oral cavity, restlessness all the time, etc. It is advisable to follow the therapeutic principles of clearing away heat and drying damp, detoxicating and sterilizing. Lily disease is one of the emotional disease. It caused by yin deficiency of the heart and lung, found in mental depression or convalescence after a critical disease. Its symptoms are characterized by restlessness, reticence, insomnia, failure to walk, poor appetite, a subjective hot or cold, bitter taste and dark urine. It is advisable to follow the therapeutic principle of nourishing yin to clear away heat. Cholera refers to the disease marked by sudden severe vomiting and diarrhea, and colic of the heart and the abdomen. It is mostly caused by deficiency of the ki in the middle-energizer, emotional stress, etc. It is characterized by such symptoms as sudden severe vomiting and diarrhea, restlessness, etc. It is advisable to follow the therapeutic principles of warming yang and removing toxic substances, and strengthening the spleen and stomach. Heat invasion of blood chamber due to affection of the exterior pathogens, pathogenic heat invading the blood in deficiency and fighting with the blood. Its symptoms are marked by fever, feeling of the fullness, etc. There are deficiency of blood, hot blood and stasis of blood. The different therapeutic treatment should be taken according to different types thereof.

Objectives : Crohn's disease (CD) is characterized by a chronic relapsing inflammation of the bowel in which proinflammatory cytokines play an important perpetuating role. Methods : Mice (preventive animal model of gliotoxin) were treated with 5 % 2,4,6-trinitrobenzenesulfonic acid (TNBS) at day 1 and day 7. To investigate preventive effects of acupuncture with Gujin at $LI_{11}$, acupuncture was carried out at day -1, day 1, day 3. And, to investigate therapeutic effects, acupuncture with Gujin was carried out at day 3, day 5, day 7. For the data analysis, we checked weight and width of colon, diarrhea, edema, survival rate, changes of body weight, and myeloperoxygenase (MPO) activity. For analysing protein expression, we carried out immunohistochemical staining and Western blot and we analyzed mRNA expression by RT-PCR. Results : Colon of TNBS treated mice was erosive and shortening compared with the colon of control mice and induced damages of colon epithelial cell layer and induced infiltration of immune cells in all layer of colon. Acupuncture of gujin at $LI_{11}$ in preventive mode suppressed macorscopic damages such as erosive and shortening of colon by TNBS and damages of intestinal epithelial cells and infiltration of immune cells in the colon. The average weight of 5 cm distal colon was increased in TNBS treated mice (758${\mu}g$) compared with in control mice (112${\mu}g$) and width of distal colon was also increased in TNBS treated mice (4.9mm) compared with in control mice (1.3mm). Acupuncture with Gujin at $LI_{11}$ in preventive and therapeutic mode suppressed increase of colon weight and width by TNBS. TNBS induced edema of colon and diarrhea and Acupunctured with Gujin at $LI_{11}$ in preventive and therapeutic mode ameliorated these symptom by TNBS. In preventive and therapeutic mode, the effects of acupuncture with Gujin at $LI_{11}$ were increasing the motility, suppressing body weight decreasing, suppressing MPO activity, reducing expressing of TNF-${\alpha}$, IL-1b, and ICAM-1 in colon compared with that by TNBS Conclusions : This study demonstrates that acupuncture with Gujin at $LI_{11}$ represents a potential therapeutic method of Crohn's disease.
