Objective: The purpose of this study is to inspect recovery state of patients suffering from nausea and vomiting, who received auricular acupuncture. On the other hand, we are going to examine effects of auricular acupuncture through the study of treatises on nausea and vomiting. Nausea and vomiting are ordinary symptoms of dispositional or functional disease. The symptoms often appear without obvious disorders that can be detected on various inspection. Methods: Auricular acupuncture needling was given to the patients who had reported the symptoms of nausea and vomiting. They were hospitalized at the korean oriental internal medicine of National Medical Center from Dec. 2002 to Aug. 2003. Result: Relatively quick response of treatment was acquired after auricular acupuncture on nausea and vomiting. Conclusion: This study shows that auricular acupuncture is effective in reducing nausea and vomiting without regard to causal disease.

Objectives : This study investigated the actual condition of an oriental medical office in a public health center. Methods : We classified patients who visited an oriental medical office in the public health center of Gyeyang-gu over a 1-year period, according to age, sex, disease, etc. The number of patients was 6529. Results : Analyzing these 6529 persons, 65.8% were female, and 79.6% were seniors aged over 65. By disease category motor systemic disease or circulatory disease affected 84% of the patients. By medication or treatment category. O-Juk-San (五積散) at 38.3% was the greatest proportion, and Pal-Mul-Tang (八物湯) the second greatest. As to medical fee, 80.2% of the patients were not charged for treatment. Conclusions : The extract of herbal medication should be more expanded in the medical insurance, and should be improved in quality. The oriental medical office in a public health center should focus more on health promotion and disease prevention than patient care. For accomplishing this goal, the institutional position and rights of oriental medical doctors as civil officials should be equal to those of western medical doctors.

Many patients have difficulties after stroke. Spasticity is an important one of that difficulties. So in these days, its management is becoming a major issue in rehabilitation. Gagamyounjo-tang was administered to a patient have had spasticity after stroke include Hyulhu(血虛) symptoms. And check the modified Ashworth Scale, Motor grade and VAS for being in the hospital. After treated with Gagamyounjo-tang, Modified Ashworth Scale, Motor grade and VAS have improved, and most of all symptoms about hyulhu(血虛) was disappeared. Based on this result, this study shows that Gagamyounjo-tang was effective in spasticity after stroke especially included Hyulhu(血虛) symptoms.

1. Objectives The Purpose of this study was to evaluate whether use of Sasang -Bang with western medication may injury the liver and the kidney function. We clinically studied the change Liver function test and BUN/Cr in patients who were hospitalized in Hana oriental Medical center for more than 1 month. 2. Methods The subjects were 33 patients admitted in Hana Oriental Medical center. All patients had been checked Liver Function Test and BUN/Cr three times every 2 weeks. 3. Results Aspartate Aminotransferase(AST), Alanine Aminotransferase(ALT), Gamma-Glutamyl transferase(GGT), Total billirubin, BUN, Creatine didn't change, compared with previous 2 weeks and 4 weeks. 4. Conclusions This study suggests that even though there are few toxic Sasang-Bang, in general, herbal medications with western medications which are prescribed by oriental medicine doctors should be carefully administered not to hurt liver and kidney function.

Objectives : The aim of this study was to investigate an effect of Bojungiki-Tang in two cases of the Gastric dysmotility-like Dyspepsia in functional dyspepsia Methods : Subjects were 2 patients with Gastric dysmotility-like Dyspepsia. The patients had suffered from a dyspepsia that were not improved by medical treatments. We gave Bojungiki -Tang to the patients 30 minutes after each meal and tried acupuncture and moxibustion 2 times every day. And we had evaluated the condition of patients using a Ryodoraku test and ordinal scales. Results : After the comparison between an admission and discharge date at Ryodoraku test and ordinal scales, we knowed that conditions of two Gastric dysmotility-like Dyspepsia patients had improved. Conclusions : Bojungiki-Tang is effective on the improvement of conditions in the Gastric dysmotility-like Dyspepsia patients.

Recently, usual minor stress is getting more important in somatization disorder. This study is a clinical report of a patient with somatization disorder induced by stress treated with typical orintal medical therapy reinforcing the weakness of heart and gall blaader(Herb-med, acupunture, etc.) in combination with EFT. STAI, BDI were compared between before and after treatment. The results show the typical onntal medical therapy reinforcing the weakness of heart and gall blaader in combination with EFT is efficient in the treatment of Somatization disorder.

Hyperlipidemia is one of the major factors causing the atherosclerosis of coronary arteries and a well-documented modifiable risk factor for stroke, especially of the ischemic type. Constipation is the condition of being unable to empty the bowels frequently enough or effectively. However, it is usually temporary and not a serious disease. Salicornia herbacea is a sea coast plant that grows on the western and southern coastal beaches and salt flats of the Korean peninsula. Belonging to Chenopodiaceae by biological classification. Salicornia herbacea is not known from research except that it contains plenty of minerals. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of treatment with Hamcho-hwanand to observe changes in total cholesterol (T-Chol) high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL), triglyceride (TG) and constipation. After treatment, total cholesterol decreased from 273mg/dl to 235mg/dl. Triglyceride decreased from 201mg/dl to 126mg/dl. HDL cholesterol increased from 30mg/dl to 40mg/dl. Constipation changed for the better. These results support a role for oriental medical therapy in treating hyperlipidemia and constipation. Further case studies of herbal treatment of this ailment are needed.

Delirium is an acute syndrome of disorientaion caused by dysfunction of brain and has many various symptoms. The characteristic symptoms of delirium are conscious disturbance with disorientation, dysarthria and emotional disturbance. We experienced 84-year-old man who had Wi syndrome(痿證) as well as delirium during the treatment of pneumonia, and whose condition was improved through Oriental medical treatment. The patient was diagnosed as Yangmyeong Disease(陽明病) that was caused by heat in the stomach and stool in the colon, and was treated with Daeseungki-tang (Dachengqi-tang, 大承氣湯). We were able to improve the delirium caused by high fever infection through Oriental medical treatment.

Objective: The purpose of this case study is to show a case of ulcer due to Buerger's disease improved by conservative oriental medical therapy. Method: The patient was treated from 31 March, 2004 to 1 June, 2004 by acupuncture, herb, dressing Results: We evaluated through X-ray, picture of patient's foot and measuring of infect size. Conclusion: We suggest to treat ulcer resulting from Buerger's disease with oriental medical therapy and would like to research oriental medical treatment plan for the further treatment.

Objectives : This study was designed to evaluate the effects of oriental medical treatments on the facial nerve palsy in Herpes Zoster Oticus. Methods : Subjects were 1 patients with the facial nerve palsy in Herpes Zoster Oticus. She had improved slightly still she had be gotten the medical services on inpatient states for 2 month. We gave Kamiligigepung-san to the patient 90 minutes after each meal and tried acupuncture 2 times every day. And we had evaluated the conditions of the patient using VAS, House-Brackmann Grade and Yanagihara scale. Results : After the comparison between an admission and discharge date at VAS, House-Brackmann Grade and Yanagihara scale, the facial nerve palsy of the patient had improved. Conclusions : It is effective the Kamiligigepung-san and Acupuncture on the facial nerve palsy in Herpes Zoster Oticus.
