Objective : This study was performed to evaluate oriental medical treatment for ADHD in childhood Methods : We analyzed DSM-4 and ADS scores before and after the treatments, such as acupuncture, decoction of medical ingredients, correction treatment and oriental kinesitherapy, of ADHD in 12 elementary school students who have been visited Byon oriental medical clinic (Dogok-dong Seoul) from March to October, 2007. And all patients were treated 2 times a week for 3 month. Results : In this study, oriental medical treatments, such as acupuncture, decoction of medical ingredients, correction treatment and oriental kinesitherapy, to balance left and right brains, which is based on oriental medicine theory, was not only effective for treating attention deficit and hyperactivity which is the major problem of children in ADHD, but also effective for resistance, sociality, homology and communication. And we concluded that oriental medical treatments, which treats imbalance disorder of brain, were effective for treating ADHD.

Objective : The etiology and treatment of the avascular necrosis of the femoral head continiue to be controversial and the pathogenesis remains obscure. And its clinical study and report about oriental treatment are absolutely insufficient. Therefore, we report a case of avascular necrosis of the femoral head. Methods : The patient was treated with Bee-Venom therapy, Electro Acupuncture and Sopungwhalhyul-tang(疎風活血湯). Results : After 26days of Oriental treatments, there was remarkable improvement in condition of the patient. Conclusions : In this case, oriental treatments for avascular necrosis of the femoral head was effective. Futher studies are required to prove effectiveness of oriental treatments for treating avascular necrosis of the femoral head.

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to find out the cognizance of medical device safety information (MDSI) monitoring in the hospital and oriental hospital workers, and the different aspect of MDSI between oriental medical devices and medical devices. Methods: The survey was performed both in the oriental medicine hospital and general hospital. The survey had 16 items; 2 items basic questions, 5 items in the awareness of MDSI, 5 items in the education of MDSI, 4 items in the necessity of defining oriental medical devices and differences between general and oriental medical devices. A total of 120 hospital worker were participated; 60 oriental medicine hospital workers and 60 general hospital workers. They had worked in the oriental medicine or general hospital associated with 'Medical Device Safety Monitoring Center, Dongguk University Ilsan Hospital' in 2019 and 2020. Results: The cognizance of MDSI was high both in oriental medicine hospital and general hospital workers and there were no significant differences between oriental medicine and general hospital workers. When we divided the hospital workers into the senior workers who had worked for over 3 years and junior workers for less than 3 years, the senior workers had higher awareness of MDSI than junior workers. However, the cognizance of education of MDSI was high which was not different between senior and junior workers. Both hospital workers thought that it was necessary to define oriental medicine device legally and the oriental medical device might have low risk and less side effect than medical device. Conclusion: The cognizance of MDSI was high and there was no significant differences between oriental medicine and general hospital workers. Because the senior hospital workers had higher recognition of MDSI, we need to provide the continuous education program for junior hospital workers. Although oriental medical device are thought to be safer than medical device, we need to have a legal definition.

The object of this study was to investigate the immune-enhancing effects of Chlorella vulgaris (CV) on a deteriorated immune function by a protein-energy malnutrition (PEM) diet. Unicellular algae, CV were used as a biological response modifier. Male C57BL/6J mice were fed for 15 days with standard diet or a PEM diet, which is associated with decreased host immune defense. After 8 days, mice in the PEM diet group were orally administered by 0.05, 0.1, and 0.15 g/kg body weight of CV or distilled water. Nutritional parameters, and interferon (IFN)-$\gamma$ levels were significantly increased in the blood serum of the CV (0.15 g/kg)-treated group (29.6$\pm$2.8 pg/mL) compared to the non-treated PEM group (4.1$\pm$0.4 pg/mL, p<0.05). In addition, cell proliferation and production of cytokines were investigated via a CV (0.01, 0.1, and 1 mg/mL) treatment using a human T cell line MOLT-4 cell. The CV treatment (1 mg/mL) significantly increased the production of both IFN-$\gamma$ and interleukin (IL)-2 (51.3$\pm$3.4 and 285.9$\pm$18.8 pg/mL, respectively) compared to the control (51.3$\pm$3.4 and 442.6$\pm$14.3 pg/mL, respectively), but did not affect the production of IL-4. These results suggest that CV may be useful in improving the immune function.

Objectives : The purpose of these 2 case studies are to report the effects of fatty liver children treated by oriental medical treatment. Methods : These patient was treated by herbal medicine, acupuncture, moxa, consultation. We observed the improvement of his disease by checking GOT, GPT, GGT, TG, and BMI. Results : By use of oriental medical treatment, we could make a considerable improvement of Child fatty liver. Conclusions These 2 case studies shows that oriental medical treatment can be an effective treatment for Child fatty liver. And the further study is needed with more cases and longer duration.

Objectives : The purpose of this study is to report a case of conversion disorder child treated by oriental medical treatment. Methods : We diagnosed the patient as Soeumin Woolgwang disease and treated him with herbal medicine, acupuncture, moxa, consultation. We observed the improvement of his disease by checking his pseudo-seizure, stool, headache and chest discomfort. Results : By use of oriental medical treatment, we could make a considerable improvement of pseudo-seizure and other symptoms(stool, headache and chest discomfort). Conclusions : This study shows that oriental medical treatment can be an effective treatment for conversion disorder. But the symtoms may recur, so we need continuous observation and management.

Objectives : This study is to research the trend of the oriantal medical treatment for tinnitus and to establish the hereafter direction for the study on oriantal medical treatment for tinnitus. Methods : We reviewed the domestic articles published last eleven years(2000- 2010). Results : We have searched 21 articles in 5 journals of korean oriental medical ophthalmology &dermatology, korean acupuncture & moxibustion, korean oriental medicine, oriental physiology & pathology, sasang constitutional medicine. 1. There were the most research done 2006. They have 5 articles. In other years there were 3 or less articles. 2. The pattern of study was as follow: the consideration of documents were 5, clinical trials were 6, case studies were 8 and the others were 2. the rate of case studies were increased. 3. After mid 2000s, there were more studies of new research method appearing. Conclusions : The oriental medical treatment already effective for tinnitus. But we need more studies about various kind of oriental medical treatment for tinnitus.

Objectives The purpose of the case study is to report the effects of stroke in childhood especially for Intracranial Hemorrhage sequela treated by oriental medical treatment. Methods The patient was treated by herbal medicine, acupuncture, moxa, and physical treatments. Results By using of oriental medical treatment, we could see significant improvement for Stroke symptoms. Conclusions This case study shows that oriental medical treatment can be an effective treatment for Stroke in Childhood. However, the further study with longer, and large clinical trials are needed for accuracy.

This study is designed to evaluate the effect of conservative oriental medical treatment with Kyungkuen Chuna for Herniated intervertebral lumber disc(HIVD) patient. The improvement of the patient was evaluated by Range of Motion(ROM), Straight Leg Rasing Test(SLRT), Visual Analogue Scale(VAS), Oswestry Low-back Pain Disability Index(ODI). After conservative oriental medical treatment with Kyungkuen Chuna, ROM, SLRT, VAS and ODI were significantly improved. It is suggested that Conservative oriental medical treatment with Kyungkuen Chuna could be effective methods to treat the HIVD patient.
