The coefficients of variation obtained from three typical vegetation indices of eight levels of multi-spatial resolution images in urban areas were employed to identify the optimum spatial resolution in terms of maintaining information quality. These multi-spatial resolution images were prepared by degrading 1 meter simulated, 16 meter ADEOS/AVNIR, and 30 meter Landsat-TM images. Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI), Perpendicular Vegetation Index (PVI) and Soil Adjusted Ratio Vegetation Index (SARVI) were applied to reduce data redundancy and compare the characteristics of multi-spatial resolution image of vegetation indices. The threshold point on the curve of the coefficient of variation was defined as the optimum resolution level for the analysis with multi-spatial resolution image sets. Also, the results from the image segmentation approach of region growing to extract man-made features were compared with these multi-spatial resolution image sets.

Since remotely sensed images of coastal wetlands are very sensitive to spatial resolution, it is very important to select an optimum resolution for particular geographic phenomena needed to be represented. Scale is one of the most important factors in spatial analysis techniques, which is defined as a spatial and temporal interval for a measurement or observation and is determined by the spatial extent of study area or the measurement unit. In order to acquire the optimum scale for a particular subject (i.e., coastal wetlands), measuring and representing the characteristics of attribute information extracted from the remotely sensed images are required. This study aims to explore and analyze the scale effects of attribute information extracted from remotely sensed coastal wetlands images. Specifically, it is focused on identifying the effects of scale in response to spatial resolution changes and suggesting a methodology for exploring the optimum spatial resolution. The LANDSAT TM image of Sunchon Bay was classified by a supervised classification method, Six land cover types were classified and the Kappa index for this classification was 84.6%. In order to explore the effects of scale in the classification procedure, a set of images that have different spatial resolutions were created by a aggregation method. Coarser images were created with the original image by averaging the DN values of neighboring pixels. Sixteen images whose resolution range from 30 m to 480 m were generated and classified to obtain land cover information using the same training set applied to the initial classification. The values of Kappa index show a distinctive pattern according to the spatial resolution change. Up to 120m, the values of Kappa index changed little, but Kappa index decreased dramatically at the 150m. However, at the resolution of 240 m and 270m, the classification accuracy was increased. From this observation, the optimum resolution for the study area would be either at 240m or 270m with respect to the classification accuracy and the best quality of attribute information can be obtained from these resolutions. Procedures and methodologies developed from this study would be applied to similar kinds and be used as a methodology of identifying and defining an optimum spatial resolution for a given problem.
The spatial distribution characteristics and patterns of geographic features in space can be understood through a variety of analysis techniques. The scale is one of most important factors in spatial analysis techniques. This study is aimed at identifying the characteristics of spatial data with a coarser spatial resolution and finding procedures for spatial resolution in operational scale. To achieve these objectives, this study selected LANSAT TM imagery for Sunchon Bay, a coastal wetland for a study site, applied the indices for representing scale characteristics with resolution, and compared those indices. Local variance and fractal dimension developed by previous studies were applied to measure the textual characteristics. In this study, Moran s I was applied to measure spatial pattern change of variance data which were generated from the process of coarser resolution. Drawing upon the Moran s I of variancedata was optimum technique for analysing spatial structure than those of previous studies (local variance and fractal dimension). When the variance data represents maximum Moran´s I at certainly resolution, spatial data reveals maximum change at that resolution. The optimum resolution for spatial data can be explored by applying these results.
The propose of this study is to analyze the optimum spatial resolution of the urban spatial thermal environment structure and to evaluate of the possibility detection using aerial photographs and thermal satellite images. The proper techniques of the optimum spatial resolution for the urban spatial thermal environment structure were analyzed. Thermal infrared satellite image of Seoul city were used for the change rate of surface temperature variation and suggested to the spatial extent and effects of urban surface characteristics and spatial data was interpreted as regions. To extract the surface temperature, Landsat thermal infrared satellite image compared with an automatic weather station data and in the field of the measured temperature and surface temperature by thermal environment affects, the spatial domain has been verified. The surface temperature of the satellite images to extract after adjusting surface temperature isotherms were constructed. The changes in surface temperature from 2008 to 2012 the average surface temperature observation images of changing areas were divided into space. The results of this study are as follows: Through analysis of satellite imagery, Seoul city surface temperature change due to extraction comfort indices were classified into four grades. The comfort index indicative of the temperature of Gangnam-gu, $23.7{\sim}27.2(^{\circ}C)$ range and Songpagu, a $22.7{\sim}30.6(^{\circ}C)$ respectively, the surface temperature of Yeouido $25.8{\sim}32.6(^{\circ}C)$ were in the range.
Results of EGS4 based calculations to study the spatial resolution of gas detectors are described. The calculations include radial distribution of electrons generated by photons of various energies penetrating into variable thickness of Ar and Xe gas layers. Given a desired spatial resolution, the maximum allowed thickness of gas layer for each energy level is determined. In order to obtain 0.1mm spatial resolution, the maximum thickness for the Ar gas is found to be 2mm for photon energies below 14keV while the optimum energy of photons for Xe gas with the same thickness is about 45keV. The results of calculations performed to compare the number of electrons generated by CsI coated micro-channel plate and the number of electrons generated by the Ar and Xe gas layers are described. The results show that the number of electrons generated by the gases is about 10 times higher than the one generated by CsI coated micro-channel plate. A few sample gray scale images generated by these calculations are included.
Currently available image fusion methods are not efficient for fusing the Landsat 7 images. Significant color distortion is one of the major problems. In this paper, using the well-known wavelet based method for data fusion between high-resolution panchromatic and low-resolution multispectral satellite images, we performed Landsat 7 image fusion. Based on the experimental results obtained from this study, we analyzed some reasons for color distortion. A new approach using the biorthogonal wavelets based method for data fusion is presented. This new method has reached an optimum fusion result - with the same spectral resolution as the multispectral image and the same spatial resolution as the panchromatic image with minimum artifacts.

Method a target estimation in spatial are mobile wireless communication using network cell and GPS. It have much error that mobile wireless communication depend on cell size. GPS method can't find a target in shadow and inner area. In this paper, we estimate a target as direction of arrival method using adaptive array antenna system. Adaptive array antenna system can obtain desired signal to remove other signal This paper studied digital beamforming method in order to estimation a target. Proposed method is modified optimum weight and antenna error correction to estimation an optimal receive signal. Digital beamforming method decided a signal phase and amplitude from received signal on array antenna element. But if it is not to do error correction of received signal, system performance have decreased. Firstly, we proposed modified optimum weight in order to finding desired target. Secondly, we are error correction of antenna incident signals by optimal weight before digital beamforming method. Thirdly, throughly simulation, we showed that system performance of proposed method compare proposal method with general method. It have improved resolution of estimation target to good performance more proposed method than general method.

Synthetic aperture radar (SAR) has been employed in various fields due to its capability to generate high resolution images regardless of weather and visibility. This paper presents a performance analysis on the image formation of high resolution SAR according to various slant range distance and synthetic aperture lengths using a range migration algorithm simulator. Although the visual performance on the SAR image is more accurate, a numeric analysis resulted in a comparable measurement. More specifically, raw data were generated for an ideal point target upon imaging geometries and design parameters such as slant range distance and synthetic aperture lengths. Finally, spatial resolution, peak to sidelobe ratio and integrated sidelobe ratio are drawn to provide SAR capabilities in the initial concept design, final in-flight calibration and validation stages.

The Quality and Accuracy of digital image is important factor for decision of accuracy in digital photogrammetry because all the inside works in digital photogrammetry are based on digital image. But it is still difficult to ensure quality assurance and appication of data because there is no distinct criterion about quality and accuracy of digital image when the works in digital photogrammetry is accomplished. This study presents optimal resolution of aerial photo through error analysis of image coordinate using auto inner orientation in digital photograrnrnetry workstation. In second step, we are valified to optimum resolution of aerial photo image with orientation analysis. Finally, we are established to validity optimal resolution of aerial photo image with production of ortho image and mosaic image using optimal resolution aerial photo image.
This study compared effects of spatial resolution ratio in image fusion by Korea Multi-Purpose SATellite 2 (KOMPSAT II), also known as Arirang-2. Image fusion techniques, also called pansharpening, are required to obtain color imagery with high spatial resolution imagery using panchromatic and multi-spectral images. The higher quality satellite images generated by an image fusion technique enable interpreters to produce better application results. Thus, image fusions categorized in 3 domains were applied to find out significantly improved fused images using KOMPSAT 2. In addition, all fused images were evaluated to satisfy both spectral and spatial quality to investigate an optimum fused image. Additionally, this research compared Pixel-Based Image Analysis (PBIA) with the GEOgraphic Object-Based Image Analysis (GEOBIA) to make better classification results. Specifically, a roof top of building was extracted by both image analysis approaches and was finally evaluated to obtain the best accurate result. This research, therefore, provides the effective use for very high resolution satellite imagery with image interpreter to be used for many applications such as coastal area, urban and regional planning.
