An experimental study was carried out to obtain the fundamental data about the effect of sub-chamber on pre-mixture combustion. A eve (constant volume combustor) divided into a sub-chamber and a main chamber was used in this experiment. The volume of the sub-chamber was varid trom $0.45\%$ to $1.4\%$ about the whole combustion chamber. The sub-chamber has twelve narrow radial passage holes and a spark plug to ignite the pre-mixture. As the ignition occurs in the sub-chamber by a spark discharge, burned and unburned gas including a great number of radicals is injected into the main chamber, then the multi-point ignition occurs in the main chamber. The combustion pressure is measured to calculate the burning velocity mainly as a function of the sub-chamber volume, the diameter of the passage holes, and the equivalence ratio. In the case of RI (radical ignition) methods, the overall burning time became very short and the maximum burning pressure was slightly increased as compared with that of SI (spark ignition) method. The optimum design value of the sub-chamber is near 0.11 $cm^{-l}$ in the ratio of total area of holes to the sub-chamber volume.

Food waste is becoming by environmental problem nowdays increasing festinately in Korea during past 10 years. Food waste collected from garbage trucks that is offered in S municipal government that food waste mixs enough, and sewage sludge collected in the country. Composting experiment conditions achieved in the mixture ratio rate that food waste and sewage sludge are each 10:90, 30:70, 50:50, 60:40, 70:30 and 90:10 $wt\%$. The fermentation temperature was $18{\sim}22^{\circ}C$ at the beginning, and then it was sharply increased to $44{\sim}66^{\circ}C$ up to 1 day after fermentation, which was maintained for more than 3 days. Then, it was slowly decreased to $18{\sim}25^{\circ}C$ up to 8 days after fermentation, which was maintained all the time. It could be known from examiation of various conditions, including reaction rate, salinity. carbon/nitrogen(C/N) ratio, temperature, organic substance, etc.. Optimum mixture ratio rate of composting using food waste and sewage sludge was 60:40 $wt\%$.
This study was conducted to investigate the effect of the mixture ratio of the inorganic soil amendments on the soil physicochemical properties. In this experiment, three kinds of soil amendments which had similar pH, EC and particle size, the A, B and C, were tested. The mixture ratio of soil amendment were 0%, 3%, 5%, 7% and 10% (V/V) incorporated with sand which met to the USGA(United State of Golf Association) particle standard. To analyze the effects of amendment on chemical soil properties, pH, EC(electrical conductivity) and CEC(cation exchangeable capacity) were measured. The porosity, bulk density and hydraulic conductivity also measured to analyze the changes of physical properties. In the chemical properties, pH was significantly related to the mixture ratios of amendments, A and C(P<0.05), CEC and EC also related to the ratios of C(P<0.01). When the results were applied to the USGA standard of the soil physical properties, the optimum mixture ratios of each amendment were 3% in A and B, and 7~10% in C. To analyze the corelation of mixture ratio versus to physical character, volume of porosity was significantly related to the ratio of B (P<0.05), and showed similar corelation in porosity and hydraulic conductivity with ratio of C(P<0.05). These results indicate that types and mixture ratio of inorganic soil amendments should affect on soil physio-chemical properties of root zone on USGA sand green.

This study was carried out to design the optimum mixing ratio of aggregate, cyclic aggregate, and binder (moisture, emulsified asphalt, and emulsion type additives) and produce recycling cold asphalt paving mixture satisfying site work standard. The cyclic aggregate satisfying KS F 2572 was collected from waste asphalt by adequate processing. As the moisture content increased, the shearing strength was decreased. The maximum marshall stability was shown at the 3.0 wt% moisture content. So the optimum moisture content was 3.0 wt%. The marshall stability and flow value with the amount of emulsified asphalt was satisfied in the range of 0.5~2.5 wt%, and the porosity was satisfied in the range of 0.7~2.5 wt%. So the optimum amount of emulsified asphalt was 1.6 wt%. The optimum amount of emulsion type additive was 0.1 wt% in the light of marshall stability and degree of saturation of recycling cold asphalt mixture.

The purpose of this study was to determine the optimum length distribution of hybrid PVA(Poly vinyl alcohol) fiber. To produce blended PVA fiber length, first the length distribution of PVA fiber in the cement composites were identified in an experimental study based on simplex lattice design. Among the different length distributions investigated, fiber length was found to have statistically significant effect on plastic shrinkage cracking of cement composites. Subsequently, Complex analysis techniques were used to devise an experimental program that helped determine the optimum combinations of the selected fiber length distribution based on plastic shrinkage crack. The optimum blended PVA length ratio was 0.0146% 4mm fiber, 0.0060% 6-mm fiber, 0.0285% 8-mm fiber, and 0.0209% 12-mm fiber.

This study was conducted to investigate the consolidation characteristics of the marine clay, treated with predetermined ratios of lime and briquette ash. The standard consolidation test was performed for the sample of mixture remoulded under the condition of optimum moisture content. The results obtained were as follows ; 1.The increase of the consolidation coefficient due to load increament was larger in the lime treated soil and briquette ash treated soil than in the untreated soil. The decrease of the compression index due to admixing ratio of additives was smaller in the former than in the latter. 2.The increase of the secondary consolidation coefficient of the untreated soil due to load increment was minimal, while that of lime treated soil and the lime-briquette ash treated soil was conspicuous and that of briquette ash treated soil was slight. 3.The $C\alpha$/Cc relationship of untreated soil was represented by colsely distributed points. That of briquette ash treated soil, lime treated soil and the lime-briquette ash treated soil was represented by linear distribution. The $C\alpha$/Cc values of untreated soil, briquette ash treated soil and lime treated soil were approximately 0.049, 0.044 and 0.031, respectively. 4.The maximum consolidation coefficient was obtained with lime and briquette ash (lime : briquette .h 2 :1) mixture ratio of 15%. And the minimum secondary consolidation coefficient, compression index was obtained with same mixture ratio. The required quantity of lime could be reduced and the consolidation was accelerated by applying the above mixture ratio.
For electrolysis process using an insoluble electrode, electrochemical performance was greatly affected by the manufacturing method and procedure, such as the firing temperature, pre-treatment, type of precursor solution, coating method, electrode material, etc. Components of the electrode therein is one of the most important factors in electrochemical reaction. To achieve such characteristics, a appropriate ratio of the electrode material should be carefully chosen. The aim of this research was to apply experimental design method in the optimization of electrode component for the maximum generation of oxidants in electrochemical oxidation process. Mixture design, especially expanded simplex lattice design, in DOME (design of mixture experiments) with Design Expert - commercial software - was used to analyze the data. Analysis of variance (ANOVA) showed a high coefficient of determination ($R^2$) value of 0.9470, thus ensuring a satisfactory adjustment of the $3^{rd}$ order special cubic regression model with the experimental data. The application of response surface methodology (RSM) yielded the following regression equation, which is an empirical relationship between the TRO generation concentration and independent variables(mol ratio of 3 electrode components) in a real unit: TRO generation concentration $(mg/L)=TRO\;conc.=98.25{\times}[Ir]+49.71{\times}[Sn]+95.29{\times}[Sb]-16.91{\times}[Ir]{\times}[Sn]-29.47{\times}[Ir]{\times}[Sb]-22.65{\times}[Sn]{\times}[Sb]+703.19{\times}[Ir]{\times}[Sn]{\times}[Sb]$. The optimized formulation of the 3 component electrode for an high TRO (total residual oxidants) generation was acquired at mol ratio of Ir 0.406, Sn 0.210, Sb 0.384 (desirability d value, 1).
This study examined the optimal mixture ratio of rice gruel supplemented with puffed rice by mixture design. The quality characteristics of rice gruel samples were examined according to mixture ratios at eleven experimental points. The high soluble solid content and viscosity of gruel samples were significantly dependent on rice (short grain) content instead of glutinous rice. The viscosity ranged from $2,891{\sim}9,153\;cP{\cdot}s$ and soluble solid content ranged from $8.23{\sim}10.13^{\circ}Brix$ at the eleven experimental points. The mixture with the highest solid content and viscosity, 12% rice gruel sample was $10.10{\sim}10.13^{\circ}Brix$ and $9,150{\sim}9,153\;cP{\cdot}s$. The L color of sample decreased with decreasing rice content, while "a" (redness) and "b" (yellowness) values slightly increased. In the sensory evaluation, samples with higher amount of puffed rice and glutinous rice scored higher for brown color, flavor and sweetness than high-content rice samples. The response surface and trace plot results showed that increasing of puffed rice increased the brown color, sweet taste and sticky aftertaste. From the results of the F-test, viscosity, "a" (redness) and "b" (yellowness) values fit a quadratic model with significant probabilities within 0.05%. The optimum predicted formulations of rice gruel containing puffed rice were 1.69% of puffed rice, 0.47% of glutinous rice and 9.84% of rice, respectively.
There are around 6700 millions tons of perlite reserves in the world. Although perlite possesses pozzolanic properties, it has not been so far used in soil stabilization. In this study, stabilization with perlite and lime of an expansive clayey soil containing smectite group clay minerals such as montmorillonite and nontronite was investigated experimentally. For this purpose, test mixtures were prepared with 8% of lime (optimum lime ratio of the soil) and without lime by adding 0%, 10%, 20%, 30%, 40% and 50% of perlite. Geotechnical properties such as compaction, Atterberg limits, swelling, unconfined compressive strength of the mixtures and changes of these properties depending on perlite ratio and time were determined. The test results show that stabilization of the soil with combination of perlite and lime improves the geotechnical properties better than those of perlite or lime alone. This experimental study unveils that the mixture containing 30% perlite and 8% lime is the optimum solution in stabilization of the soil with respect to strength.
